My family and other animals
The silence that fell after Miles' last words felt very heavy. Angela's mind was rushing, her heartbeat accelerated. So he got to choose? Just like this?! How is that fair at all?!
At least know where you belong. Of course it's where your family comes from. I'm sure you will make an awesome Ravenclaw, like your father. Her voice started to tremble.
My family was assigned to all the different houses. My mother said we Silverberrys simply don't have a single place in the world for ourselves. She was completely discomposed, couldn't keep it in any longer. Maybe Miles can understand.
I thought it's possible to make a choice, but Tiara didn't give a SHIT about mine. I didn't want to go to Slytherin. Yet here I am. I heard too much about those awful people assigned there. Those murderers, Voldemort, all of them. Maybe it was years ago, but you can still feel their presence, this... Slytherin's spirit. Did you know there is girl's dormitorium of Dolores Umbridge there? This disgusting traitor of a woman! She was thrown into the Azkaban, and for no less than torturing students of this very school, and yet she's getting honored like this?! It makes no sense! This house is so stupid!
She was almost in tears now. I am nothing like them. I am NOT. I don't know why would I get put there, it doesn't feel like home at all. I don't even want to sleep in my dormitory. Honestly I'd rather sleep here. She curled up with her knees up, moving away from Miles and trying not to cry. How pathetic. It was supposed to be a peaceful evening and now she ruined it for them both.

When the words started coming out from Angela, they didn't seem to want to stop. He tried to interrupt a few times but it seemed like a dam was burst inside of her. The mixtures of reassurance and passion that came out against her house was amazing really. When it came to the end of her talk, he really didn't know what to say or do. Miles hadn't really been put in this position before specially when it came to a girl as well. At the end he settled for the not totally awkward part and leaning toward her and putting his hand on her shoulder.
He let his hand grip her shoulder assuredly, I really don't think you would be allowed to live up here, i think after awhile you might be smelling like this place. I don't know about you but i think jasmine and vanilla are way better smells then owl dung. He tries to put a smile on Angela's face as he says this cause frankly its true. This place could use some air freshener.
He sets his hands back on the ledge, You have quiet the history in Slytherin and I won't lie and say that would be my first choice, cause it wouldn't be. That amount of painful memory shapes what people will think of you and put you in that same class, rightfully or not. One thing that I do think that the hat got right was that you are very passionate. It is after all a trait that Slytherin is known for I am told. He forces himself to be truthful, one thing that cannot be allowed to happen is for one to lie. The truth after all should always be said no matter how painful.
Miles looks out in the moonlight and points outside, What do you see out there Angela? You could see the moonlight or the stars and that terrifying, huge willow tree. What is it that I see? Freedom. To choose. Yes the hat has put you in Slytherin, but it is your choices that define who you are at least that is what my father always says. It is what you choose to be and not the many thousands of Slytherins that came before you. He takes his hands down and focuses on his letter.
You are not alone in gathering whether the sorting house was correct. I am sure that my family would be very proud to carry on the tradition, but its my choice that guided the sorting hat. I have to live by that choice, but that does not mean it is the right one. He starts to lose steam towards the end, its not something he has shared with many people. I haven't even got around to sending my parents a letter, yet my first will go to my aunt instead. Miles gives a very troubled expression.

Angela was one hundred percent focused on Miles. His hand on her shoulder felt reassuring. His words not so much. Even if they sounded correct.
Of course Slytherins are passionate, loyal to their family, ambitious, okay, that much was correct about her... But does that really mean she's supposed to have fun where Voldemort lived once and hang out with Deatheaters' grandchildren?
Then Miles' words about freedom struck a note in her. Even if some awful Slitherin-y things really are in me... I won't let them prevail. I can be whoever I want, no stupid hat or stupid house will make me do anything.
When he mentioned his doubts again, she listened very closely. She looked at his letter, pretty crumpled up at this point, and back at him. For the first time he looked truly upset. She searched for the right words to conform him.
Hey. You are right. We are all more complicated than some four ancient colored boxes. What can some old hat know about people anyway?
With Ravenclaw you chose the way of your father, and now your family will judge you, your aunt will be disappointed, I get that. But it shouldn't matter if you chose Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, or Snallygaster. She wanted you to follow your own path, and you did. It's not her life, and I'm sure you'll make all of them proud eventually. After all we are at the very beginning of... all of this. And we plan on doing our best, don't we?
Then she hugged him.
We will be alright.

It wasn't the first time that Miles was taken by surprise that night and already not the first surprise that he found in Angela. It is one thing that you try to be positive and at the end of the day she is right as well. We are more then just what a cooky old hat says.
He was swept up in the awkward moment for the hug was unexpected. After a few shocked seconds, Miles returns the hug and can tell that this isn't so bad after all. Yes, we will be alright.
After the hug comes to an end, Miles has a goofy smile on his face with his hair sorta standing on end. Of course we plan on doing our best and no stinking hat will change of of that. I can tell why you have tended to come here. The owls are part of who you are, what your family enjoys and I am every sure that you will be quicker to make friends with these dung tossing animals. I say that of course with the best possible way. He can't help but smile, here he was off to send a letter and finds a girl that is in a similar situation as himself.
Alright Angela, the owl whisperer, can I ask if you would help me send out this letter. I am sure that these owls are restless to stretch there wings. As they set about ready to get to the task, Miles pecks her on the cheek and simply says, Thank you.

Angela didn't expect this sign of affection and blushed a bit. She had no idea what to think and no energy to think. The last minutes were so intense and hard, she felt a bit dizzy and just wanted focus on something else. She brushed her hair back and clapped her hands. All right, let's do this!
She hastily hopped down, put on a glove from a nearby shelf and turned around, trying to select a suitable, healthy and strong owl. Where does your aunt live? I think this one here would be best for northern climate, or that one over there if it's a warmer place. You know... just so they are a bit more comfortable on their way.
She didn't wait for his answer and immediately decided: Or you know what, let's take this one, I'm sure she'll manage anything, she looks like she's experienced. Hey, nice girl, come here! A large brown-and-white owl cleaning her plumage a couple feet over them hooed quietly, but didn't move. Come on... You are compromising my whisperer skills. I got something for you! She quickly searched her pockets and triumphally raised an owl treat. Here! The owl turned her head sideways, hesitated for a moment, and finally decided to fly down, landing on Angela's arm. She smiled with satisfaction and waved to Miles, encouraging him to come closer. Good girl... here, have it... We need you to travel... And you like to travel, right? You'll find all kinds of delicious mice along the way, I'm sure.

Alright I might have been embarassing myself a little bit. Still, it felt the right thing to do after the heartfelt venom that Angela had for her house. I don't think I would want to embarass either of us more so Miles got back to the task at hand and that was somehow getting his letter out the nest.
It was funny really, how Angela took control of the situation and Miles pretty much stood there dumbfounded and went with the flow of the situation. He didn't know anything really about owls and it was only right that she guide him since she was the owl whisperer. He did notice that the owls probably weren't to keen on helping after the grumpy owl pretty much told them what was up. Though it seemed bribery of treats was an good way to get their attention. Note to self, find out where to get owl treats.
So, I am guessing that the more you work with these owls the better they will respond to you right? I am guessing that is what you want to do, get to know these owls more so that get some affection. Pretty cool. He says that as she gets the owl to come to her wrapped arm. Miles couldn't help but smile at the promise of mice on the journey. Bribery definitely is a key thing for owls who don't know you.
After the owl has been subdued somewhat by Angela's whispering, he does indeed get closer and attempts to get the letter on seeing as how he has seen some of his house do so in the past. Hows this. I think I have gotten it alright. It would have been an interesting site, when remembering back if someone did indeed walk in on us.

It's not necessary to be in a good relationship with them, Angela explained as Miles was tying his letter to owl's leg. Bird's sharp claws were tightly grasping her glove while her other hand delicately caressed its soft wings. The school owls are trained to serve all students. It's their job. But if they like you, it surely gets easier.
When the letter was attached safely enough, she gave Miles one last look of reassurance. Then she turned back, took a few steps towards the nearest window - or rather, a gaping hole in the wall - and finally helped the owl to jump and fly off into the night. Be safe, she said very quietly.
A wave of weariness swept over her, like with this letter the owl has taken all energy left in her.
It's done, Miles. She will deliver it. She exhaled deeply. Sorry, I'm really tired. I need to go to my... my dorm. Mice and pidgeon bones crackled under her boots. It was a real pleasure to meet you here. I'm so glad. See you another time and have a good night. The goodbye was simple, but must suffice, she thought semi-conciously, walking out the door.
Not quite awake, holding on to the walls and almost getting lost, she walked all the way back to the basements, finally got to her bed, and fell asleep there and then, in her feathers-covered dirty robe.
Angela leaves the owlery.
