Sitting Alone
Guinevere was still feeling quite anti-social, so when she dragged her trunk along the windows of five compartments in a row, all of which were filled, she was feeling exceptionally disappointed in the Fates for forcing her to sit with someone. Guinevere had decent human interaction skills, and she could easily make friends, but it was that she didn’t really want to at the moment. At the sixth compartment sat a lone Slytherin that was around the same age as her, possibly a first or second year. She was after all, one of the oldest firsties.
Guinevere pushed open the compartment door, as sitting with one Slytherin was definitely better than squishing into a compartment with people of other houses and plonked her luggage into the the racks above the seats, an easy task thanks to her wonderous (Wait. Was that a word?) height.
“Hello, have I met you before?” she asked the other girl. She looked quite familiar; Guinevere had probably encountered her a few times in the previous year. “Lily, was it?”
She sat down diagonally across from her, ensuring enough personal space and forced a pleasant smile.
Guinevere removed her book bag from her shoulder and dug out her quill and a notebook to write down her newest writing idea. For Guinevere, ideas could come and go in a matter of minutes if they weren’t written down. It was quite infuriating.

Sitting Alone
"So, where are you going this holidays? I’m going to London with my family and sister for the first week. My parents are going to get me a pet! I’m so excited, I can’t wait!”
Guinevere saw Lily then look out the window, embarrased. Understandable.
"I don't think I'm going anywhere yet. Maybe we'll go visit Korea, but I'm coming to summer camp," said Guinevere. "I prefer staying home, anyways. More time to spend on Muggle laptops!"
Guinevere did love spending time on those things. They were quite handy - you didn't need to go flip though books for that one sentence you needed to find, and a bunch more reasons.
"Aaaanyways, what was your favorite subject this year?" Guinevere decided that if she was going to sit with her for a few more hours, why not strike up some conversations to pass the time and maybe find some common interest? "Mine was Transfiguration, wasn't it fun? I think Flying was also quite nice - it was just that I always thought I would fall off the broom!"
Guinevere jotted down a few more words of her idea, already feeling it slip. She hadn't had much breakfast that day, so she dug out a pack of gum and a bag of chips from her bag to eat.
"Want some?" She offered the bag to Lily after she had opened the seal and taken some for herself.

Sitting Alone
It turned out that Lily’s wand’s core was also unicorn hair. Guinevere was about to point this out, when the trolley lady passed their compartment.
“Anything from the trolley, dears?” She asked kindly. Lily took a licorice wand, which Guinevere had never had before. She didn’t really have a taste for licorice.
Then, the trolley lady turned to Guinevere. “Anything for you?”
“I’d like a sugar quill, please,” said Guinevere.
“Five sickles as well, dear.” Guinevere handed over the coins and plucked a sugar quill from the trolley.
“Have a nice day,” said the lady, pushing the cart away. Guinevere turned back to Lily.
“My wand is aspen wood, 24.4cm, and it also has unicorn hair,” recited Guinevere. “Imagine if it was from the same unicorn! That would be interesting.” She produced her wand from her pocket and showed it to Lily. “It looks really similar to a chopstick, doesn’t it?”
“When I first got it, my old friends, Runa and Clarrisa both teased me relentlessly about having a chopstick instead of a wand,” explained Guinevere, testing out her sugar quill on the parchment, even though she knew it would only make the paper sticky.
She snapped the quill’s feather and put it in her mouth along with a chip.
“When’s your birthday? Mine’s September twenty-eighth, 2009. I’m technically twelve, but did you know, in Korean age, I’m thirteen? They count you as already one year old when you get born.”
“Did you expect being sorted into Slytherin? I was kinda fine with all houses, but I had a kind of preference for Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Not that I have any problems with the other houses,” she added hastily.

Guinevere considered Lily’s question for a bit.
“I would say… maybe Flourish and Blott’s or Quality Quidditch Supplies? The bookshop is really cool, I think. There’re a lot of books I haven’t read before, and that’s saying something. The supplies store is just interesting to look around. I don’t play Quidditch, I’ve got figure skating on my plate already,” she said, not missing a chance to flex about her skating. In truth, there wasn’t that much to flex about; she had a Intermediate Moves badge and five doubles. She just liked to watch people’s mouths drop open like back in her local rink and say, ‘Oh please, show us some tricks!’. They weren’t even called ‘tricks’! That made her sound like some kind of dog. "What's your favorite shop?"
Lily offered her some chocolate frogs, which Guinevere had heard about before. She was quite interested in collecting the cards, but whenever she put her mind on it, she somehow had homework to do that she sure she had done already.
She opened the small pentagonal packages and picked out the frog. After eating it, she inspected the card. After watching the picture move around, she stuffed the card into her bag.
“What’s your MBTI?” Guinevere asked. “Ya know, the muggle 16 personalities thing? I’m an INFP-T. Turbulent Mediator. Did you know, before, I misread ‘mediator’ with ‘meditator’? I was soo confused, I never meditate!” Guinevere finished off the rest of her sugar quill and wiped her hands, writing idea completely forgotten.

Sitting Alone
“Anyway, I’m pretty sure that on the test I did at school, it said 100% introverted. That’s true,” laughed Lily.
“Wow,” remarked Guinevere. “I think I got basically 50% of everything.”
Lily took a chocolate frog and ate it. “I might read up on them if I can get hold of a laptop or computer. It’s hard since I’m a pure-blood. What blood status are you? And, if you did play Quidditch, what position would you choose? I’d definitely choose Keeper.” She took another chocolate.
“I’m a half-blood. Father’s a Russetwood. You might know the Russetwood clan, you might not. We’re not that well known. Mother’s a Song, from Muggle Asia.” Guinevere shrugged. “As you can tell, I get most of my looks from my mother. Where do you get most of your looks? As for Quidditch, I think I would want to be a Keeper too. I’m not that into flying around crazily, no thank you.”
She unwrapped one of the gum packets and chewed it for a bit.
At that moment, the train conductor’s voice came over the speaker: “Attention, everyone, the Hogwarts Express will be stopping shortly at platform nine and three quarters. Please collect your belongings and make sure not to leave any trash, as it will be jinxed to fly after you. Thank you and have a nice day.”
“That seemed way shorter than it should have been, time really flies,” remarked Guinevere. “May I have your address, so we can owl over the summer? Here’s mine.” She ripped out a piece of parchment and scribbled down her address on it and handed it to Lily.
