The game was getting closer and closer, and the fans were getting more restless by the minute, though as was Edme. It seemed like a fairly even match, both sides pulling their own weight. They could only hope that Ravenclaw would pull through.

As the end of the game neared, Edme felt her adrenaline picking up, anxiety and hope pooling in her gut. She called out a cheer of encouragement to their teammates before placing her hands at her sides and gripping onto the bench. The sky wasn’t gray yet.

A penalty lap. Delightful. Just what Cecily wanted and hoped to do at this critical moment in the match. Especially after having not even made contact with her target. It was one thing to have to circle the pitch after having made a successful play that benefitted her team, but to take a punishment with nothing to even show for it was downright shameful. It seemed almost as though she was losing her touch. One would think, with all of her experience and 20 accuracy, she would have just a little more to show for herself so far in this match. It was a little too close for comfort at the moment, and she could really use a play that tipped the scales in Ravenclaw's favor about now.

Finally being able to do something for her team in the match could not have felt better, even though it didn't exactly knock the girl off her broom.

“Dunno what you're talking about,” Aly said from in front of her, “You seem to be doing just fine! Fantastic hit, by the way!”

Ebony couldn't help but grin. "Thanks Aly."

She suddenly realised that both of the seekers had spotted the Snitch and tried not to focus too hard on them; she still had her own job to do.

Serena swore that this was the longest penalty lap she had ever taken. She was seriously itching to get back into the game, especially with so many people having been knocked off their brooms. Oh, and it seemed as if both Seekers had spotted the Snitch! Serena tried to speed up so that she could finally begin to help her team again.

Seizing the opportunity granted by Howard's penalty lap, Sylvain swooped in to score a quick couple of goals while he still had an advantage. Hufflepuff was playing hard today, and despite the fact that Ravenclaw was doing their best to pull ahead, they were still being given a run for their trophy.

Shot after shot, he finally scored a goal and these became his first quaffle points in a real game of quidditch. The last quaffle however was so poorly aimed that the Huffle Keeper had no problem blocking it. Still, he was having enough fun that he would be a good sport about it.

"Good defense!" Sylvain replied as Atlas blocked the goals. He'd definitely not be forgetting that she had done that anytime soon.

As Howard zoomed through the last of his penalty lap he would see the signal. River and Stanley had both spotted the snitch and it was on him to stop the redheaded Raven. Laying flat on his broom he would fly as fast as his Silver Arrow would allow. Just at the last moment he would sit upright and lower a shoulder before colliding with River. Though he delayed her for now only time would tell if the maneuver would be the right call as he went off on yet another penalty lap.

Alright, it was about time for this match to be over. Cecily was through with drawing them on, feeling the suspense. It was all fun and games until one Seeker was being tossed from broom to broom like a rag doll and the other was, um, doing the job Cecily was technically supposed to be doing but often neglected in favor of more, well, direct options. Not that those direct options seemed to be too bad at all for her team this year, but as she recovered from her penalty lap and River scored a quick thirty points, she began to maybe rethink for a moment her "blatch now, ask questions later" method of strategizing. Considering blatching was, you know, not even a little bit legal, and considering as well the sheer frequency with which Ravenclaw wielded this, uh, tactic, someone really should probably have been thrown out of a game at this point. God forbid she or Lavinia actually played their position instead of opting to turn themselves into a human bludger.

It was save duty again for Lavinia, and even though she found it annoying, it was necessary for the team. While staring intensely at the rest of her team members to see if they’d fall of their brooms, Lavinia sighed when she saw River stealing her job. River was throwing the quaffle into the hoops while Lavinia had to circle the field. No one was falling off their broom and it was time for her to return to her regular actions.
