JOKIA-ASANI ZUBERI
Jokia is a tall, slender girl who likes to take up as much space as she possibly can. Everything about her is large. Her hair, which she wears like a halo, her clothes, which envelop her entirely, her presence, which seems to fill up the room, not leaving air for much else. She likes wearing baggy, comfortable clothing and chunky jewelry which jingles whenever she moves. Usually, she'll be found sporting quidditch jerseys about three sizes too big, and a pair of gold rimmed glasses with lenses that adapt to the light in the room. The glasses are only for decoration, a fact she's been ignoring despite the various reminders from her parents.
HISTORY.&.PERSONALITY
Mental Description: Jokia is a very outgoing girl - she likes loud, bustling places and colorful things, lives for good music and tasty food. When she walks in a room, it gets just a little bit brighter. The girl has a very peculiar ability to get excited about tiny things, no matter how gloom and doom her surroundings are. Her toxic trait? Ignoring things she doesn't like. Life is too short to do things that make her miserable. Jokia simply avoids them. She figured that if she ignores unpleasant things for long enough, they'll simply disappear. Because she doesn't want to spend time on things that make her feel bad. Jokia lives with intent, with the knowledge that she's only got so few years on earth. So she's going to make the most of her time. She's going to spend that extra fifty bucks on a shirt, and go to the theatre with her friends, and dance in the rain, and sneak downstairs at three am to make herself french toast. At the end of the day, it's going to be little moments like that she remembers. And she wants more memories painted in gold and laughter than in gray and numbness.

Biography: Born in Kingston upon Thames, England, Jokia's life was rather ordinary. Her parents were well known in the wizarding community and she had a fairly peaceful existence. It was only her brother's laughter through the halls that disturbed the comfortable silence in her household. And her brother laughed often. Because the Zuberis existence was peppered with joy. Their parents were the type of people who were good at their job - raising their kids to be strong, independent adults who took joy in little moments and had a zest for life. They were role models, teaching their kids through kindness and logic rather than harsh discipline, using mistakes as learning moments and building their self confidence rather than tearing them down. And...it worked. Jokia and her brother grew into self confident kids who knew how to make thunder into music rather than cower from it.

First Instance of Magic: There is a reason your mom tells you not to play with scissors. It's because they're sharp and they cut things. Jokia wasn't the brightest of first graders. So when a game of truth and dare came up, and her best friend dared her to cut a lock of her hair, she did it without thinking. Except she cut a lot more of her hair than she'd intended. Perhaps it was the numb panic that had washed over her, that triggered the magic. Or the horror of knowing she had a party the very next day, where her crush would be watching. Thankfully, by the next morning her hair had grown back in place. Her parents smiled, even as they carefully removed all the craft scissors from her reach, and sat her down to re-braid the hair which had grown out. That was the last time Jokia attempted to be a hairdresser, but her total disregard for consequences proceeded to flourish.

Half Giant
First Year:
30 Stat points (Full Humans get 35)

Part Giants are not as skilled in the casting of magic as their counterparts. Giants have a +2 chance to critically fail when casting a spell (1, 2 or 3, rather than 1). A critical failure is where a spell just does not work, back fires or targets an unintended target. However, part-giants are incredibly powerful and strong. Part-giants perform an additional +30% damage with their physical attacks (anything that requires strength). They also have 20% damage reduction. Damage reduction basically means that giants take less damage from magical and physical sources. (So if they are attacked and damaged for 100, they only take 80 damage.)

Second Year:
35 Stat points (Full Humans get 40)
Gain 1 ability.

Third Year:
40 Stat points (Full Humans get 45)

Break Object/Door: Locked door? No problem, just kick it open. 5% chance of success per 2 points placed in STRENGTH. Caps at 75% chance. May only try to kick down a door once.

Break Limb: Requires an accuracy check between the part-giant and victim. If successful, a strength check is performed against the user. If the giant exceeds the victim, the limb is broken. Possible limbs: Legs (-1 evasion per leg broken), arms (-1 accuracy per arm broken), hands (10% chance to drop wand per hand broken, also 50% auto-fail chance for snapping fingers), head (10% chance to stumble, losing the intended action they were about to perform per foot). A user only has two of each limb, so that is the maximum that these can be inflicted on a user.

Grapple: This is where you grab hold of someone and physically hold them down. This requires an accuracy check to hit and then a strength check to succeed. If successful the opponent s considered bound. A bound person cannot move their limbs, so they cannot make physical actions nor can they cast magic that requires movement. While you are grappling someone, you also cannot move because you need to maintain your hold over them. At the start of each round the grappled player performs a grapple check (this is just a contested strength roll), this does not count as their action, and if they are successful then they are free from the bind. If they are unsuccessful, then they remain trapped. IF the player is free, they can still perform an action for the round as can you. If they are not free, they remain trapped and perform no action and you are busy holding so also perform no action. If the grappled opponent is targeted with an attack, the grappled opponent (as well as you) cannot evade the attack, it would automatically hit the BOTH of you even if the attack was a single target attack.

Grab Wand/Item: This is where the part giant attempts to grab an opponent's wand with their bare hands. This requires an accuracy check to grab the wand (at -5 accuracy). If grabbed, then the wand is taken from the opponent and is in the possession of the half-giant. The wand cannot be used by anyone besides the wand owner. The wand would need to be snatched back, requiring a contested accuracy check followed by a contested strength check to regain the wand.

Fourth Year
45 Stat points (Full Humans get 50)
Gain 1 ability.

Fifth Year
50 Stat points (Full Humans get 55)

Part giants continue to become exceptionally durable. Damage just seems to roll off of them, part giants have a total of 50% damage reduction and their physical attacks now do 50% more damage.

Sixth Year
55 Stat points (Full Humans get 60)
Gain 1 ability.

Seventh Year
60 Stat points (Full Humans get 65)

Part giants are officially the most physically strong magic casting capable race. While casting is not their forte, Giants are capable of fortifying their bodies in ways that no other can.

Berserk: This is a state part giants can enter with 1 action where they increase their physical strength at the expense of their sanity costing 1 action. The part giant target gains +20% physical damage done (this being anything that requires strength) but they are no longer able to choose their target so their target will be anyone besides themselves. With a critical failure, the berserk wizard him/herself will also become a viable target of their own attacks. This lasts for 5 rounds and cannot be stopped even if their intended target is downed, they will simply target another person in the immediate area if there is any and if there is none then they will attack the environment. Upon a critical success, the user retains their ability to choose a target and when the target is downed they will stop attacking.

Unbound: You cannot be bound through physical or magical means. You can still be controlled by an outside force but nobody can hold you down.

What is a Critical Failure? A critical failure is where you roll a 1 (or within the extended range if applicable) and the spell ends up backfiring or an unexpected effect happens which is often disastrous to the caster.

Restrictions
The player must adhere to the physical properties of a part giant. Part giants are considered to be between 8 and 12 feet in height in adulthood, part giant players would start with 11 year old giants that stand between 5.5 and 6.5 feet in height. In addition, these features are considered visually discernible to the average person.

There is a 500 word count post requirement for this race.

Half-giants quidditch moves (such as blatching, bludgering, etc.) are not effected by the increased critical fail chance. Quidditch moves (such as blatching and bludgering, etc.) are considered to be physical actions so they are effected by the increased physical damage effect.

Half giants would get reduced damage from being hit with quaffles of bludgers due to their damage reduction.

Half giants can in theory break an opponent's limb while playing quidditch as described , however this would be a foul and much like a dhmpir biting or clawing a player, this would result in a foul being called and the player being penalized as well as detention in character for their behavior.

Half giants cannot break a broom or grab a broom during a game - everything is moving too fast and it would involve leaving your own broom to even try. It just would not work.

Half giants can grapple other players, but once the half giant lets go they would suffer a foul and be sent to detention.

Half giants can Berserk during quidditch, making their attacks monstrous.

Possible Ability List

Obnoxiously Strong
+15% strength

Broken Broomshaft
On a full hit with a bludger, if the user is knocked off their broom there is a 25% chance that the broom is shattered as well. If the broom is shattered, the opponent will not be able to use the broom for the duration of the Quidditch match (they do not loose their broom permanently, they would repair it off-screen later). If they are caught by an ally, they would have no broom to return to and would have to ride with an ally or remain on the ground for the duration of the game. There are some two-player moves where a player can share a broom but this is still a devastating loss for a team.

Martial Artist
◐ punch
◐ grapple
◐ kick
◐ choke hold

Possible Broom List

Nimbus 1500 19g 16s
In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

Tinderblast 42g 5s
In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Moontrimmer 123g 9s
You have exceptional dodge. +10% chance to auto-dodge an attack.

Silver Arrow 172g 9s
+3 to every stat

Firebolt 222g 6s
In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Note: For the rules lawyers out there: you are not considered your own ally.

Reducio
Cleansweep 7
In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a retarget, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

Bluebottle
This broom is intended to carry multiple people. When someone uses the catch option to rescue a falling teammate, they can catch one additional teammate in a given round. If the user has the ability Catch then a user can catch an indefinite number of teammates in a round, but for each person they catch after the first there is a stacking 20% auto-failure chance.

Nimbus 2000
Immune to the effects of the ability Broken Broomshaft.
+1 critical chance.

Abilities Through The Years

Year 1: 30% strength, 80% damage
Year 2: 45% strength. 80% damage (obnoxiously strong)
Year 3: stronk man break things
Year 4: broken broomshaft (crak)
Year 5: 65% strength, 50% damage
Year 6: martial artist (yeet)
Year 7: berserk and unbound
Adult: charmer

Bludgering: This is where the Beater hits the Bludger into a chosen enemy target. If the enemy has 0 stamina/health remaining, they fall off their broom and would have to be Saved otherwise they are taken out of the match. [Strength][Accuracy]
  • The Math: This is an accuracy roll (for the attacking character) against an opponent's evasion. The damage done would be 75 x the strength score. If hit, the target takes the damage and if their health is 0 or less, the user is knocked from the broom.
  • This means that unless I crit fail (roll a 1), I will be doing an average of 600 points of damage per bludger
Bludger Backbeat: A move by which the Beater strikes the bludger with a backhanded club swing, sending it behind him or her rather than in front. Difficult to bring off with precision but excellent for confusing opponents. This is not as damaging but it is more accurate. [Strength][Accuracy]
  • The Math: This would be a +5 accuracy and reduced damage. The damage done would be (50 x the strength score). The attack itself would be accuracy (on the beater) + 5 versus evasion (on the target).
  • This means that unless I crit fail (roll a 1) I will be doing an average of 390 points of damage
Blatching: This is a foul where the Beater attempts to collide with an opponent. This is a high risk move because if they fail to knock an opponent off their broom, they will suffer a penalty without any measurable gain. If successful then the target is knocked off the broom. This is an obvious foul, so the Beater would be penalized by being made to fly the perimeter of the field (so they can make no action the next round but they still MUST post, if they fail to post then they will suffer their penalty the round thereafter). [Strength] [Accuracy]
  • The Math: This is similar to Bludgering an opponent except you do not need to have your opponent reduced to 0 (or less) health to knock them from their broom. There is no damage done as you are knocking them from their broom. The attack itself would be accuracy (on the blatcher) versus evasion (on the target). If hit, the target is knocked from the broom regardless of the amount of health remaining. The attack (if successful or not) is likely to be seen by the referees, unless someone has the ability [Foulplay] where there is a 25% chance that their move will go unnoticed.

Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for:
Half Giant

Application
Jokia's parents were wonderful people. They hosted parties and sent housewarming gifts, and had an annual barbecue that every maj person in the area showed up to, with or without an invitation. They were the kind of people who could turn your life around with a smile of encouragement and a kind word, always seeing the best in people and treating those around them with dignity and respect. Looking back, some of it must have come from the belief that if they treated people well, people would return the favor despite their oddities. And it did work, for the most part. Whenever neighbors and kids from across the street came over, there weren't any unkind words uttered. Time was punctuated with good food, and laughter, and wrestling matches between them and their friends. She'd never questioned it.

Growing up, Jokia never really wondered why her mom seldom left the house. It was her dad, who would take them to buy quidditch supplies, and to games, and shopping for groceries. Her mom stayed at home, gardening and cooking and taking care of the myriad of tiny critters that liked to hang out in their garden.

It was only when she showed up at summer camp, that the realization smacked her over the face. The lingering looks she'd never seen from her neighbors, the elbows between ribs as she passed by, the conversations which grew quiet as soon as she got near. For you see, Jokia and her brother took after their mom. They had the same large bones, and severe features. Her brother had taken her calm disposition, her easy laughter and affinity for good food. Jokia had gotten her booming voice and confidence, a fact that left a bitter taste in her peers' mouths.

Everything was small at camp. The tents, which seemed to press down on the older kids in a nearly suffocating manner. The cutlery, which disappeared in Jokia's hands, the beds which most people hadn't thought would need to house a 6 foot 11 year old. Jokia's heart had stopped in her chest the moment she'd stepped down from her father's car, and noted that she could comfortably use most of the people roaming by as an arm rest.

A few minutes of shellshock had passed over her, standing quietly in one of the corners and feeling the eyes of her peers burning through her skin. That was why her mother never left the house. "You'll be alright baby." Her father had rested a hand on her shoulder, pulling her in a tight hug. "And if you're not, you go and borrow an owl from one of your teachers. And send me a letter. And I'll pick you and your brother up, alright?"

It was all it took to break her from the trance. She wasn't going to stand in the corner like a scolded child. She wasn't going to let the fear gnawing at something deep in her stomach take over. She was Jokia frigging Asani. And she would stand her ground. So she'd adjusted her bag over her shoulder. Exchanged a look with her brother. And smiled. "We'll be alright."
