Standing in the corridors, just outside the Hospital Wing, Serena rocked slightly on her heels as she audibly exhaled. A part of her questioned why she was here. She knew exactly why, in fairness. Yet she found herself standing outside, hesitating to go in due to the nerves bubbling inside her.

She had heard of the internship in passing and even seen the fliers randomly over the months around the school. Whenever she heard about it, she had passed it over whilst thinking it was not for her. Recently, everything had changed, however. Time and time again, danger was prominent in her life or around her. What changed, however, was her ability to grow and adapt to the situation.

Four years ago, she almost died because of one reason - she failed to cast a simple light spell that she should have been able to cast. Now? She stood there, in the storm and thunder, hurling spells left, right and centre. Multiple times, she had successfully cast healing spells - which, apparently, had been useful. Failing to help someone, especially when that person was her closest friend, hurt her soul. So much had happened over the years. The experiences that she went through made her her, though. In fact, it was the very reason she was here.

Staring at the door in front of her, she exhaled audibly once more to steady her nerves. Mentally, she told herself she could do this. With that determination in mind, she opened the door and entered into the wing. For a moment, her eyes immediately flashed to a corner of the room. The same corner that her bed had been in when she woke up after the camp out to see her housemates covered in soot, the same place where her friend betrayed her trust and ruined her friendship with another. Sigh, a lot had happened in Hogwarts... Pushing those thoughts aside, she turned her attention to what she was here for today.

Her eyes immediately started to search the room for the tallest figure she could find in the hopes that that was the adult in the room. Spotting Nurse Brumby, she smiled and made her way over to him, "Excuse me, Professor- Nurse Brumby? Good afternoon, sorry to interrupt but I wanted to inquire about the healer internship that I've been hearing about. If it's still open, I'd love to be considered for the spot," She greeted before pausing for him to speak.

Pushing her nerves aside, Serena steadied her slightly shaky hand to quickly fill out the paperwork that she was given and submit it before she changed her mind. She was nervous she would be bad at this but really, it was also the best thing for her to do. Being an intern would help her understand what to do. She could use muggle methods when she failed to use magical ones, like when her healing spell on Hugh backfired some months prior. The sooner she filled out the paperwork, the better - so she could start her induction!

The future was always something that was on Simon Kincaid's mind, whether it was where he might be living, who he might be living with, or what he might be doing. One of his main goals was always to be secure with himself and part of that was getting such things figured out, despite what age he was currently.

What did he want to do after Hogwarts? The world opened up so many new opportunities with the addition of magical occupations - Wandmaker, Herbologist, Dragonologist, Alchemist, employee of the Ministry of Magic, Broom Maker, Auror, Magizoologist, Healer. That was just a small list of the options that would some day be available to him. His thirteen year old self wanted to gravitate toward being a dragonologist or a dragon tamer and yet, somehow he didn't think that fit in well with his long term plan which included his famous "at least twelve children." Somehow it seemed like far too stressful and far too dangerous of a job to keep such a big family happy and stable.

What else sparked his interest? Healing. The wizarding community had a way of healing that was parallel and yet different as night and day to the muggle world and he found it completely fascinating. That intrigue, combined with his natural drive to want to help others, captured his interest for this potential field of work. When he found out that there was an internship at school, he headed to the Hospital Wing.

"I'd like to sign up for the healer internship please, Nurse Brumley," he said as he entered and smiled.

Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)

September 12th 2022. After A Price Must Be Paid.
Lucia had trailed silently behind Nurse Frogge as he and some other students - Lucia had honestly lost track of who was helping and who was just staring at the spectacle - moved Opeila from the corridor where she'd collapsed to the Hospital Wing. The Hufflepuff didn't speak, not because she didn't want to, but because she didn't know what she could say. Various emotions battled for conquest over Lucia's being, but the overwhelming feeling was shame. Shame that, while everyone else around her had sprung into action when Opeila crumpled to the ground, Lucia had done almost nothing helpful. It seemed to happen every time she was in a stressful situation - rather than the fight-or-flight response which others seemed blessed with, Lucia just shut down. Froze. Whatever you wanted to call it, Lucia didn't know what to do in emergencies.

As she watched the Nurse care for Opeila, Lucia wondered where he had learnt to keep his cool in such a situation. How did he know by heart the little things to do to keep a patient stable and healthy (or, as healthy as they could be)? It all seemed like magic to Lucia, except that many of the most important things - checking pulse, checking for injury - seemed to not be magical at all. As Lucia waited (for what, she wasn't sure) her gaze fell on a student around her age, a few beds away, measuring out some sort of potion for a patient. And that gave her an idea.

"Nurse- Nurse Frogge?" Lucia blurted out once it looked like he had finished tending to Opeila. "I'm Lucia, if I didn't already say, I probably did though-" Oh, this was already going badly. Lucia had to get her point across before she really spiraled into a rambling tangent. "You run an internship program, right? Sir?" He did, and he explained what it required. "Yes! That... all makes sense." There was a quick form to fill in, apparently, so Lucia did so, hoping she wouldn't regret her decision in the future. "Thank you, sir." And that was that. Lucia Fox was, for better or for worse, a Healing Intern.

Damion had been studying really hard trying his best to get his grades up and to get himself in as much of things possible as much as he could. He had witnessed the latest student's sorting and was mesmerized by someone.... Well he could pursue that younger boy later. Of course they would be friends... He wouldn't.... anyways.... that was not why he was here. He had just attended the sorting and had come to the Hospital Wing. He had a lot of things to do on his check list.

He opened the parchment that he had in his hand. Welcome back feast and new student sorting. Check., What else was there? He had things like going to check for the Healing Intern. Check. He was on his way to the Hospital wing. He was really hoping that he would get on the list and wouldn't be rejected. He really wanted to be a part of a team that helped people out. He wouldn't hesitate to help people out. He wanted to be in a team which did that. And a healing Intern was exactly the right fit for him.

Damion looked around as he made his steps- a little unsure steps into the Hospital Wing. Okay so this is where I would be working and helping injured students out. He thought to himself. He was happy that he was doing something like this. Something where he was helping people, yes they were fellow students, out. He was very interested in being a part of this team.

Healer Internship

Edward had died because the muggles could not save him from the blunt trauma of a car accident. His beloved tutor, dead, once again from a car accident. Tristan knew magic could save them, but they were not allowed to. He was bitter about that for sure. But if he could, he hoped to at least treat those he could, learn more about healing, and save his wixen friends if they needed saving. So, when he saw the opportunity for a healer internship, he quietly sent the form filled out to the nurse. Today was his first day, and he was quite solemn. It reminded him of death and destruction after all. In muggle hospitals, the smell of antiseptic and ionized air, flooding his nostrils. But here he could actually make a difference, use what he knows to heal somebody, keep a bone stable, bandage injuries, instead of having to let someone die because they were muggle. Perhaps that was indeed why in some ways Tristan agrees with Grindelwald’s attempts of power. If the statute of secrecy was reversed, then he could at least use magic to save people without fear of punishment from the magical government. With this desperation to do something, Tristan stepped into the hospital wing and waited for instructions for the first day.

Clair was a third year now! She was so excited to have the extra classes and the possibility of joining the internships offered by a few of the adults. The prefect had taken a few days to settle into the routine of school and being a prefect again before she had decided to look into the internship.

She was really excited to get to help people in a new way, and what better way then the Internship? And besides her bestie, Simon, was already a part of the program and maybe that would mean they could spend more time together.

She also had other reasons, deeper reasons. Her mother had not trusted magic to cure her and instead had died. Clair had never spent a fay after her mother's death were the thought had crossed her mind 'what would my mother be doing right now if she had just gone to St.Mungos and gotten help?' Part of her hated her mother, she hated her for being so selfish to not go and get help. She hated her for dying , she hated her for leaving her with her sister and no answers. But even with all the hate, she loved her mother very dearly and would have done anything to save her.

The ravenclaw walked up to the desk, "Hi i would like to, uh, sign up for the internship please."

𝓐s a sixth year, Amadea did not quite experience the first day of school jitters she once did. She could remember the terror all too well; especially on her first day as a first year, Amadea thought she was going to simply explode from all of the nerves that she had built up. To her surprise, she did not. Today, though, Amadea was experiencing the first day jitters...it just didn't have to do with the fact that school started today. No, her first day jitters were regarding the new internship that she had applied for and received.

Ever since she had begun preparing to take her O.W.L.s, Amadea's professors had been pushing her to think about her future and determine what it was that she wanted to do. Unlucky for her, Amadea had absolutely no idea where to begin. The problem wasn't so much that she didn't have any direction, but that she had too many. Amadea enjoyed pretty much all of the subjects she took in school; though she was able to rule out becoming a professional Quidditch player because of her fear of flying and she knew she would never end up being a historian because (if she was being honest) found the history of magic lectures to be boring, she genuinely enjoyed all of her other school subjects. That was why she had immediately seized the opportunity when she had found out about this internship.

Amadea always knew that she wanted to help people in her life; she didn't know exactly what profession she would end up in but she knew her end goal was making the world a better place than she found it. Sure, it was cheesy, but it was what motivated her every day and she was not going to ignore that dream just because the world might say she's being too corny. Plus, in the back of her mind, Amadea was incredibly excited about this opportunity because of her family history. She was Muggle born, but her lineage had a complicated relationship with the wizarding world. On the Campbell side, there was a history of magic (haha, no not like the class) but it was spread out across generations and never enough to be considered a wizarding family. Both her great-grandfather and her step grandmother, who for all intents and purposes Amadea considered her real grandmother, worked at St. Mungo's helping with healing. Her grandmother was a Healer and her great-grandfather had worked in partnership with the hospital to create potions that helped to cure people. So, it technically was in her blood. Maybe this would be the chance for Amadea to realize healing was the occupation that she felt truly fit her.

Of course, she was still incredibly nervous. What if they turned her away? What if she accidentally injured someone further instead of healing them? She could play the what ifs over in her head for eternity, but she knew that if she was going to do this, she had to do it now before her nerve went away. Taking a deep breath, she counted to three in her head before stepping up to the desk. "Hi, she said. "I was wondering if I could sign up for the healer internship?"

9th September 2023

Bea knew this was what she wanted to do coming back to Hogwarts in September. From the Summer Camp to going back to her muggle grandparents Bea had been cocooned in some kind of dark and angry place, her emotions stewing and festering, making her into someone she didn't want.

The Summer had been a dark and lonely place, first with Summer Camp and then the rest of the season. Many of her friends hadn't come to Camp, opting to visit family or spend the entire two months away from the castle. She'd spent time in the horrific nightmare of rainbows and clouds that was her cabin and Bea in a way, had been grateful to leave it behind. August hadn't fared much better though. She'd found her mother at King's Cross and they'd taken a car up to Salford. Ma had declared on the way up that the family was going to live there now. Aunt Maude, her sister, had taken over the farm since Nans passing, and detesting anything muggle including Beatrices father, the family were left with no where else to go.

Hiding her magic hadn't been easy. She longed to watch her mother cook and perform magic with a swish of her wand. Except everything magical had been packed away, hidden like some dark secret. It had drained Bea, making the girl resentful. For her parents to choose this life where she had to lie to one half of her blood. For making her lose her magic. For her Nan dying. If only the cause of her death had been magical then someone would have been able to help.

It was this which had brought Bea to the Hospital Wing. She'd heard about the internship in previous years and had longed for it. To be able to put her practical skills of charms and herbal knowledge to good use.

The day was sunny, with golden light streaming through the windows. It made the room look like a shining treasure. It was quiet, with beds neat and tidy ready for the next patients. Something about the room spoke to Bea, and as she cleared the doors for her first day a great gust of something fell from her shoulders. She felt lighter here, more at peace. This was going to be a good thing in her life.

Colin loped up the stairs to the third floor, Greebo running alongside, and turned down the corridor that led towards the hospital wing. He knew the place pretty well, actually. He reckoned that anyone who could get through Hogwarts without ever being injured, jinxed, cursed, eaten by a random forest, squished by a lake squid, vomited slugs or any of ten thousand other common and magical maladies probably spent all of their time in bed.

And come to think of it, even being in bed wasn't quite all that safe at Hogwarts, given its propensity towards hags and murderers being allowed to roam free.

But to say that Colin was knowledgeable about the hospital wing would be a slight understatement. He had been in and out of the place on numerous occasions and had even come to determine which of its cots was his favourite. For those who might to wish to know, it was the one about two thirds of the way along the side where the Nurses had their offices. It was far enough away that he couldn't easily be observed, but not too close the busy doorway either. For there was always in him a nagging dread that some enemy might sneak in and do some mischief if he were too close to the door.

But today Colin was not here due to any injury or malady of any kind. He was here to embark on a kind of internship. He'd learnt some healing spells and now, at the encouragement of his Da, had decided to put his learning to good use by helping out in the hospital wing. He was really kind of hoping to be a magizoologist and an artifact hunter with Liam, but he also liked the idea of healing. And they had reckoned together that almost any magical career brought with it the likelihood of being splinched or attacked by dark wizards or being eaten by dragons, so they'd do well to learn as much about healing as they could!

As Colin entered the place and got himself settled, Nurse Sabo explained everything and Colin got to sign in to the hospital for the first time. Greebo curled up on the chair next to his, purring. He couldn't help but peruse the sign in book to see who else had preceded him. He was naturally delighted to see Clair's name! He felt an instant pride in her, and also in himself now that they'd be sharing this as well. He also saw loads of other names of kids he knew. Ileen of course! The Queen of Candyland! And Santario and Opeila. And Simon and Damion and even Tristan! He saw a name he wasn't expecting to see as well: Henry. Gosh! Colin smiled. He never knew that old wolf was a healer intern!

Colin felt awesome after signing in to the book for the first time. He knew he'd have a lot to learn, but he was ready for the challenge!

Frost had always had a special interest in the art of healing, the consequences of growing up with a mother who worked as a healer and formerly as a muggle nurse. It only took a year at Hogwarts and her first physical altercation for her to realize that she knew exactly who she wanted to be. Someone who was capable of knowing what to do in situations that required medical finesse of even the slightest degree, someone whom anyone could look to for help.

To her delight, this year, the nurse had posted healer's internships. And suddenly it was obvious as to what Frost would be spending her spare time doing this year. Purposefully entering the hospital wing, she looks for the nurse and waits patiently for them to finish before she inquires about the internship with them.

If she could be helpful in at least one way, then she would diligently work toward being exceptionally good at it. The dutiful act of helping others was enough for Frost to keep herself determined to go at it, even if all she could do to help was comfort them, give them a bandaid with a cute design, or wish them a swift recovery. She knew that technically the impact she would make would be small compared to what some people are able to do, but Frost would still be content knowing she made someone feel at least a little bit better.
