Vaila is a shy, quiet, and reserved young girl. She prefers to keep to herself rather than to occupy a larger group. This is due to the fact that her parents raised her to be rather distant towards others, due to their wealthy status among Muggles. Despite being rather popular among her peers, Vaila always tends to keep her distance, preferring the company of a good book over that of another person.
Positive Characteristics
Coming from a wealthy family of pureblood witches and wizards, Vaila has always been rather well off. Because of this, she has never known discomfort or distress in the confines of her home. She is very talented in English Literature, and came out at the top of her class for three years in a row. She is a skilled writer, and reads at a level far beyond that of her peers. She is also incredibly graceful in her movements, even when performing the most inelegant tasks.
Negative Characteristics
Due to her distant nature, Vaila could be considered socially awkward. Even though she was popular among her Muggle peers, she never truly felt that she was able to connect with them, and prefers to be in solitude. She is also terrible in Maths, and has always struggled with the subject. Due to the fact that she is skilled in literature, she will also often doze off in class, allowing her mind to wander elsewhere. This has often caused problems for her since most teachers were not appreciative of her disinterest in subjects she is already well versed in.

Vaila Evans; First Year, Slytherin
For her entire life, Vaila grew up hearing stories of her parents’ and grandparents’ time in Hogwarts. Because of this, her greatest desire and wish has always been to receive an acceptance letter of her own, so that she, too, could forge her own epic tale of wizardry. She has always shown a tremendous interest in magic, and especially in potion brewing (though her parents have strictly forbidden her from attempting any sort of potions before attending Hogwarts). Therefore, her greatest excitement for her upcoming years is to finally attend potions class.
Despite her parents’ aversion to her brewing any sort of potions unsupervised, Vaila does know a few, very basic spells. After giving birth to her, Vaila’s mother was informed that it would be impossible for her to bear any more offspring. The news was crushing to both of her parents, as they had been hoping for a baby boy to carry on their family name. However, they had to make do with what they had. Vaila’s father taught her the most base of spells, as he had hoped to one day do with a son. Vaila has always known that she was the child her parents hadn’t wanted, but had received anyways. Because of this, she is very insecure and self-conscious. She desperately wishes to live up to her parents’ expectations, despite the fact that she is a female rather than a male.
