Hex The Sneezing Hex, First Year

Allison walked into the History of Magic classroom confused as to why the classroom was arranged in a certain way. She then realized it was because she was going to learn a new spell today... a hex. Specifically, the Sneezing Hex. Allison loved learning and thought of herself as a quick learner especially when it comes to magic. She listened carefully and focused all of her attention on what Professor Zahid was saying to her and the rest of the class. She took out her inkwell and quill and wrote down the spell-casting instructions in her notebook. Giving up was not in her vocabulary and she didn't want to get a bad grade in the class. Attention is crucial in class. Soon, she was told to pair up with someone in the class. Allison was nervous because growing up, she was an outcast and didn't really have many friends or interacted with people much.

She looked around the room to find someone to work with and soon enough, she found a Hufflepuff girl sitting all by herself also looking for someone to work with. "Hello, I'm Allison. Would you like to partner up with me to perform this hex?" she asked. "Hello, I would be more than willing to work with you" the girl said.

"Great. I'll go first" Allison said. She pulled out her wand and moved it quickly in a downward direction and out towards her target.

"STÉ-lee-us" she said. Allison watched as she realized her spell didn't hit the other girl and she wasn't sneezing. "Ugh, this isn't working but I refuse to give up. I'm going to try again. I just didn't move my wand correctly." she said. Allison was a perfectionist and wanted to nail her wand movement. "Alright, I'm going to try this again" she said. "STÉ-lee-us" she said as she casted the spell. "Ugh, I messed it up again. Well, third time's a charm right? Hopefully, I'll get it this time."

"STÉ-lee-us" she said as moved her hand in the way the professor showed us. Allison then saw that her spell had worked and her target started to sneeze. "Yes! I finally got it. By the ways, I am so sorry about casting this on you." "Don't worry about it" the girl said. "It's now my turn to cast the spell on you" she said.

"STÉ-lee-us" she said with confidence. The spell missed Allison and the girl realized that she was having the same spell-casting problem as Allison was having. "Don't worry. I didn't get it on my first try either. Try again! You got this!" Allison said.

"STÉ-lee-us" the girl said again. The spell missed Allison again. Just as the girl was about to give up, Allison was very encouraging and offered lots of support to her practice partner. Allison suggested that the girl try one more time and she did just that.

"STÉ-lee-us" the girl said one more time. She watched as the spell hit Allison and she was sneezing uncontrollably. "Yes! I finally got it. Well, teamwork makes the dream work right? Thanks for encouraging me when I felt like giving up. This seemed like a tricky spell" the girl said. Soon, Allison stopped sneezing and responded with "you're welcome and I enjoy helping others and I'm glad I could help you succeed in casting the spell.

Professor Edit: It was nice to see his students encouraging each other. Practice makes perfect, after all. No one can succeed in everything the first time. Zahid gave the pair an approving nod. "well done, you two."

Starting July 1st, 2022 the spell formerly learned here will instead be learned by completing Year One homework in History of Magic and be automatically learned by graduation to Year Two if not already learned at that point.
