Compartment #4
“That was so cool!” Emlyn said to her sister and parents looking at the large train stationed in front of them. Emlyn had been a little nervous to run through the wall at platform 9 ¾. She had seen her parents go through with ease and knew their entire extended family must’ve done it at some point all having went to Hogwarts.
“Hurry along now girls” their father stated scurrying the family along the platform to the main passenger gate. “You will want to find good seats before they are all gone”. Emlyn walked through the crowded people attempting to lock hands with her sister but kept dodging in the other direction to avoid ramming others in the crowd. After herding through the maze of families, she and her family were at the entrance.
Emlyn gave her mum and dad a big hug. “We will write to you once we get sorted. Love you mum and dad.” she said with a grin. As her parents finished saying goodbye to her sister, Emlyn dragged Ellory away and shouted back “We’ll be fine!” and hurried her sister through the gate to board the train. Trunks in hand, they toddled up the steps and found themselves in a large hallway with compartments lining each side. Immediately to the left and right were full compartments with older students. Emlyn pushed her trunk in front of her and carried on without looking into the full compartments any longer than she needed to.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a compartment to her right that appeared to be empty so she threw the door open and tossed her trunk inside without a second look. “This one will do nicely. Compartment number….” She looked and saw embossed lettering shining on the door “four!” she said excitedly, then turned to help her sister with her trunk.

Most kids Ellory's age were probably dying for the chance to get away from their parents, eager to get a taste of the independence they so desperately craved. Ellory felt differently. She didn’t want to admit to it, because she didn’t want Emlyn (or anyone else for that matter) to call her a baby, but she was dreading not being able to see her parents for months on end. Sure she’d had minor disagreements with them from time to time as any pre-teen did, but at the end of the day, she loved them and was having a hard time imagining not being able to see them each day.
However apprehensive or sentimental Ellory may have been feeling, it seemed that Emlyn was not feeling the same way. She had only barely gotten in a quick hug before she was being forcibly whisked away towards the brilliant scarlet steam engine. “Bye Mum, bye Dad, I love you!” she shouted after them wistfully, hoping that nobody else would see the frown on her face and the glisten in her eyes.
Thankfully, there was enough going on that she was able to quickly distract herself from the melancholy feeling of goodbye. Emlyn continued to drag her into the nearest empty compartment she could find, which Ellory was grateful for. She felt particularly vulnerable around all the people hustling and bustling around the platform, and her trunk wasn’t exactly light either. Thankfully she had Emlyn to help her stow it away, and once it was safely placed, she started to help her with her own as well.
The two girls sat across from each other, peering out the window for a moment, taking everything in. It was Ellory that broke the silence. “Em..” she started with a serious look on her face. “Do you think that Mum and Dad really won’t care if I don’t get sorted into Gryffindor?” Her parents had been very reassuring to her, but she couldn’t help but wonder how they really felt about it. She would hate to disappoint them.

Compartment #4
Veronica walked through the train, trying to find an open compartment or one with only a few people in it. She had said her goodbyes to her mother, which weren't really all that emotional, and meow wondered what her year at hogwarts would be like. Will the people be nice? she thought, I'll probably get into Slytherin, it's been in the family for years, but if I don't will my mother hate me? Oh whatever, I was bound to be a disappointment anyway. She really didn't want to disappoint her mother but she couldn't really help what house she was to be sorted into, nevertheless she was still nervous.
Veronica came from a very high status, pureblood family. Her father had left her mother from a young age but her mother still taught her to be proper for her place in society. However, she wanted something different. She found her mother closed minded, rude, and boring and would do anything to not be like that herself.
While she was walking she stopped a cabin four. It didn't sound loud from outside the door so she figured that it was empty or at least not full. She opened the door to see two blonde girls who looked awfully alike, they must be siblings. "Could I sit here?" Veronica asked.

Carmen took a shaky breathe in as she stood on the platform of 9 3/4. The only other person going to Hogwarts that year was her older brother Matthew who had never paid her much attention anyway. Their love was mutual, there because they were siblings not friends. Carmen looked over at her Brother Robert. He should be able to go with her that year, he was only ten months younger than her.
"Carmen are you listening to me." The harsh tone of her mother cut through Carmen's thoughts. "I will write to you one a month. I want to hear every grade that you get. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Mathair," Carmen responded.
"Also try to get into Slytherin it will look good for the family. Your brother Matthew did it, you can too. And if you don't get into Slytherin just don't get into Hufflepuff, the whole lot of them are Muggle-borns and blood traitors do you understand?"
"Yes, Mathair"
"Good." Carmen stiffened as her mother hugged her. Justine Halloway does not hug people, especially her children. Carmen had only seen her mother hug ministry members that had come to the house for dinner, it was out of politeness nothing more. As her mother released her and backed away Robert took her place.
"I wish you could come," Carmen whispered as she fought back tears. How was she going to survive a whole year without him by her side? He had always been there for her. When mother had called her worse than a mudblood, it had been Robert who had offered his shoulder for her to weep on. And she had always been there for him, especially when their parents disowned Robert believing that he was a squib.
The train gave a howl and Carmen's parents said goodbye before Carmen followed Matthew onto the train. As soon as they were aboard he hurried off to a compartment near the back where all of his friends sat. Carmen took a deep breath. How was she supposed to choose a compartment, all seemed to be full of people.
She slid back the first compartment door and stepped inside. The people fell silent as she opened the door. Her face flushed red as her eyes fell upon the prefect badge that each of them wore.
"Did something happen? Is someone calling trouble?" a red-haired girl with a freckle covered face asked.
"Umm... No... I just... got lost," unable to spend another second in the embarrassing situation she backed out of the compartment. She turned to quickly and as a blonde girl standing outside the next compartment said: "May I sit here?" Carmen fell into her and the two toppled to the floor of the train.

Compartment #4
Emlyn and Ellory sat across from one another in compartment four both alongside the window looking out to the station. Emlyn’s mind was racing, thinking about the day ahead of her and what it might bring. Emlyn was feeling anxious due to a history of getting motion sickness while riding in cars and on trains. “I hope that magical trains are different” she thought. She looked back to her sister who broke the silence in small compartment. “Do you think that Mum and Dad really won’t care if I don’t get sorted into Gryffindor?” her sister asked.
Her sister had obviously been worrying about this as they boarded. Despite using her “keep it together” face, she knew her sister well enough to know when she gets nervous. “Yes, Mum and Dad will still love you and they won’t care if you get sorted elsewhere. That’s not going to even happen though – we’re going to both get sorted into…”
Emlyn was interrupted by the small door opening. A young blonde girl who stood in the doorway, looked down at Emlyn and Ellory and said "Could I sit here?”. Before Emlyn could respond, there was a quiet voice in the hallway followed by a loud crashing sound. The girl in the doorway was now on the floor with another girl their age toppled on top of her. “Oh my gosh, are you alright?” Emlyn got up and walked towards them to see if they needed help.

Compartment #4
"Oh my gosh, are you alright?" One of the girls in the compartment asked. She reached a hand out to Carmen that she gratefully accepted. Carmen's face felt hot as she went red with embarrassment. Her eyes searched for another empty compartment in the train but they were all full. She would have to sit in this one. Carmen flashed a nervous smile at the girl who was now helping the girl Carmen fell into, up. Inside the compartment, Carmen saw another girl who looked exactly like the one who had helped Carmen up. Carmen tensed she hated identical twins, not the people but the interaction. It was always extremely awkward when you accidentally call one by the wrong name, luckily these twins were wearing different outfits. Carmen let out a silent sigh and took the seat across from the girl.
A second later the two other girls came in. The girl that Carmen fell into sat by her, while the other one sat by her sister. The girl who helped Carmen up broke the silence by saying, "Hi, I'm Emylyn. This is my sister Ellory." she said pointing at her sister next to her.
Both girls had long strawberry blonde hair that fell elegantly past their shoulders and frosty blue eyes that under a stare would prove to make anyone's skin crawl. The two were beautiful but when not smiling, intimidating, of course, Carmen didn't say this out loud. A second later she realized she had not introduced herself. "I'm Carmen," she said reaching out to shake Emylyn's hand.
