Adelaide vehemently shook her head at the mention of getting a detention, "Nope, I'd prefer to not get a detention, thanks. That's my sister's job, she's the troublemaker in our family." To anyone who knew the Barlowe family, it appeared quite obvious that the oldest, Eloise, took after their father more - a troublemaker and mischievous - whilst the youngest, Adelaide, took after their mother; a perfect, studious student. So, Adelaide made it a mission to not give her parents more trouble and avoid getting into trouble during her time at Hogwarts.

The blonde hummed thoughtfully, "I suppose, but I like the repetition of learning something because each time you do it, you can see your improvement. Truthfully, it always boosts my ego when I do a ballet routine and I can see I've improved from the last time," just that one step closer to perfection, she silently added, though she thought she was already perfect at ballet. She practiced it enough to be considered perfect, at least in her opinion.

Not surprisingly, Adelaide did know why French was deemed the language of love, she remembered reading about it somewhere, "It actually has to do with the way it sounds. They named it the language of love because 'the melodic rhythm is enough to melt hearts all over the world', or so they say," Adelaide vaguely noted it sounded as if she was trying to show off her intelligence, but since Pax had called her smart first, she decided it was fine. Plus, she was only answering a question after all.

She visibly brightened when Pax agreed to trying out contemporary ballet, "Perfect! Yes, you do need to be quite flexible, but I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm honestly just glad you agreed to trying it out," she let out a light laugh, "oh, and I highly doubt I'll try Quidditch out any time in the near future. Maybe someday, but not right now," she smiled before continuing, "alright, how do you want to do this? I could teach you some moves step by step, or I could first show you a dance, whatever you prefer."

"No trouble at all?"

Pax raised an eyebrow. To a trouble-maker like themselves, the idea that someone could adhere so carefully to rules was almost impossible for them to imagine. But, judging from the current interaction they'd had with the blonde, it shouldn't have surprised them too much that she was a rule-follower.

"Yeah, but it just gets really boring," they repeated, now sounding the whiny child that had always complained to their mother to let them skip practice. "I never saw improvement in my work. Maybe that's why..." they added under their breath.

Pax tried to remain impartial and not to wrinkle their nose at Adelaide's explanation. Not that they had a problem with the girl, not at all anymore, but with her words. Again, nothing with how she said them, but just what they contained themselves.

"Melt hearts all over the world? Ugh. How sappy and romantic."

Grinning as they saw Adelaide's face brighten, they attempted to stretch the way they did before playing quidditch as they listened to her speak.

"I'm sure I'll convince you about the Quidditch thing eventually. Anyways, uh, I don't really mind what you want to do. You are the teacher, after all." They stopped and considered everything quickly. "However, I don't know if launching straight into a dance is wise. Maybe start with the steps?"

"Nope, no trouble at all for me," she said adamantly, "why bother getting into trouble and having to spend your time in detention when you could just... not?" She shrugged her shoulders, being a troublemaker just sounded quite pointless, honestly. What's the point of getting into trouble to get a detention? It doesn't really prove anything, and Adelaide would much rather prove herself by being a good student and getting good grades. She doubted Pax was the same though, "You're definitely a troublemaker, aren't you?"

She couldn't help but roll her eyes at Pax's whiny voice, "Well everything is a bit repetitive, is it not?" Even though Pax had muttered it, Adelaide still managed to hear what they said next, "Maybe if you tried hard enough you'd see improvement, like instead of just half-assing something, if you give it your all every time you practice, you'll definitely see improvement," she advised, in an attempt to be helpful. It certainly worked that way for Adelaide, as practice truly does make perfect, so she supposed it'd work with Pax too.

Adelaide laughed, it definitely was quite sappy and romantic, but it was called the language of love for a reason. "Hmm, I don't think you will," Adelaide said, referring to Pax saying they would 'convince her about Quidditch eventually'. "Yeah, I'll start with teaching you some basic moves first, just so it's easier. You probably won't be able to do an entire dance today, no offence or anything," she laughed. "First, this move is called a chassé," she demonstrated what she was talking about, "it means 'to chase', because as I had one foot extended, my back foot basically 'chased' my front foot before my front foot shot forward again. Make sense?" She then went through it slowly for Pax to keep up, even though it was quite a simple move, she wanted to make sure they understood. "Do you want to try it out now? It's quite simple."

"Nope, no trouble at all for me. Why bother getting into trouble and having to spend your time in detention when you could just... not?"

Pax rolled their eyes a little, smiling, however. "The thrill? The excitement of knowing if you'll get caught or not? Gets the adrenaline pumping."

"You're definitely a troublemaker, aren't you?"

They did a small bow. "One and only. You should join me, just once at least. Then you can see how much I love it, like how much you like dance."

"Not everything requires repetition. For example, quidditch. No game is the same as another because players will change, or their energy level or strategy, or all three. That's what makes it so interesting. It's the same with all sports. Yes, you can repeat drills over and over, but the key to sports is knowing the unpredictability of the players and the conditions."

"I'll start with teaching you some basic moves first, just so it's easier. You probably won't be able to do an entire dance today, no offence or anything."

Pax shrugged, laughing a little. "None taken. I don't expect to be able to be any good at this."

Adelaide began by showing them 'a chassé'. There was a whole explanation as to the meaning behind the French word, and Pax tried to pay attention as they attempted the move. It was described as a 'chase' but describing Pax's attempt seemed more like a pendulum where one leg collided with the other to push it forwards.

Laughing as they nearly tripped over, Pax turned to Adelaide. "Guessing that's not how you do it."

Despite Pax trying their hardest to convince Adelaide that troublemaking was somehow worth it, Adelaide still wasn't convinced. "Yeah, no," she shook her head, "I am still not convinced. I would rather find adrenaline in some other way, other than potentially getting caught and have a permanent stain on my currently spotless and clean record."

She wasn't surprised at all when Pax had confirmed that they were indeed a troublemaker. Even though the blonde had saw some similarities with their personality earlier, it was only just that: some similarities. The more she got to know about Pax, the less similar they seemed. Adelaide would never, or at least was planning on never getting into trouble or getting detention. She was determined to go through her seven years at Hogwarts without getting into trouble once. The perfect student with perfect grades, with a lot of emphasis on 'perfect'.

Which is why she scoffed, though there was no venom behind it, and said, "Absolutely not. I'll try out any of your hobbies to repay you for trying out ballet today, except for troublemaking. Do you really think I'd like you if you ended up getting me detention?" She raised an eyebrow at Pax in question, because she was pretty sure they both knew the answer to that question. The Ravenclaw was only just starting to tolerate Pax even though they had insulted ballet earlier, but if they ever ended up getting Adelaide detention, there would never be any forgiveness that Adelaide would offer them.

"Perfection requires repetition. You still need to practice Quidditch moves so you'll be prepared for the next match, so I think a lot of things do require repetition if you want to be perfect at them. Though I suppose I do understand your point," she conceded, even though she knew she had a point too. Yes, sports are unpredictable since you never know what will happen during a certain match, but you also needed to be prepared for the match which meant you needed to practice to perfect your skills. And Adelaide doesn't settle for anything less than perfect, a fact she thought Pax would be aware of by now.

Thankfully, Pax had took no offence to Adelaide's statement, and it also seemed that Adelaide was right because Pax had nearly tripped over as they had attempted the chassé. She couldn't help as she chuckled before shaking her head, "No, that is definitely not how you do it," she said between laughter. "Look," she got into position again to redemonstrate the move, "your leg collided with the other, which it was not meant to do. You're meant to chase the leg, like this," she done the move again, but slower this time so Pax could see it.

"Try it again," she encouraged, "and if you still don't get it, we can move onto something else. Or give up entirely, if you don't think ballet is your thing. No offence taken if you want to give up, I still appreciate you willing to try out ballet even after dissing it earlier." Even if they had gotten off on the wrong foot, Adelaide could appreciate that Pax had known they were in the wrong and had been willing to learn, which was definitely a lot more than other people would be bothered to do.
