Henry have been walking back from the library at the time, he decided for the longer route for longer moments with his thoughts.
Going up stairs, through the corriors. The loght reflecting in. The teen walked along then caught the sight of darkening smoke emitting from underneath the door and two familiar voices.... voices of two first years who he took on a kinship to and felt the need to protect and aid them. Avery Chen, the one he felt a brotherly bond to who he could both laugh with and help in any situation no matter how dire. The second, Colin McCoire. A fellow werewolf who naturally he felt the urge to protect and help.
Hearing their voices, he went on guard. Drawing his wall, apporching the door. Loki, hus beloved orange feline right behind him. The teen would push open the door, smokes covered the room but their voices unmistakable. The teen hoped the two weren't injured or harmed... he raised his wand as a single word emitted from his mouth, "ventus."
wisdom check: [d20:2]+11=13, Success
A gust of wind blew from his wand, pushing the smoke away. The teen squinted a bit, his eyes becoming adjusted to the scene before it unrevealed itself. Much like a elder sibling uncovering their younger siblings deeds, the teen found his eyes widen to witness Avery and Colin dueling yet their words said this was more than a opportunity for learning.
It would be lying if the teen didn't aidmit to doing the same, dueling outside of class or fighting with others but he hadn't expected the two first years to do it... coming across the two, one dancing viciously and the other suffering from a case of the bogies. If the teen wasn't so akin to the first years then he would have gotten a prefect, after all he is friends with the prefects from nearly every house. The teen raised his wand, for at Colin as he muttered, "Expelliarmus."
wisdom check: [d20:13]+11=24
accuracy check: [d20:1]+8=9
evasion check: [d20:13]+6=19
Watching his spell evade Colin, he figured the two wouldn't be so keen to let loose their wands but he wasn't about to let them continue to suffer from the effects of spells nor fight.
Pointing his wand at Avery, he debated which one to use before muttering a word, "finite incantatum."
wisdom check: [d20:19]+11=30, success
The spell sparked then circled Avery, brining a end to the irish jig that he was forced to do. A nod on the first year before looking over toward Colin, there wasn't a spell to bring a halt to the effects only to lessen the pain. Keeping gnem in mind, he would walk between the two. Standing between them. Eyes flickered between Avery and Colin every other second as he spoke"what the blood hell do you think you two are doing?" Eyes flickering between, the teen had the urge to hex them for this act or find a prefect... but he didn't... finding himself to care for the two too much, " nevermind, that dueling out of the room for it is aginest the rules. Dueling isn't allowing emotions to take control and is isn't another form of fighting," his eyes rested in Avery with the final word, looking at him with the mix of worry and concern that one would see a older sibling giving a younger sibling.
Brushing back a few strands of hair, the teen felr his eyes flicker to each lad as he spoke"your lucky I didn't find a prefect but your two errors shouldn't fault the rest..." the teen eyed their wands, perhaps to try again as he aimed for Colin's first. Trusting Avery more in the moment. Muttering the word, "Expelliarmus."
wisdom check: [d20:8]+11=19
accuracy check: [d20:20]+8=28
evasion check: [d20:16]+6=22, hit
His spell hit. Eyes on Colin's wand as it flew through the air, reaching up. The teen would jump and wrap his fingers around the piece of wood. Holding it to his side as he directed his wand for Avery next, muttering"Expelliarmus."
wisdom check: [d20:12]+11=23
accuracy check: [d20:18]+8=26
evasion check: [d20:13]+7=20
His spell hit. Watching Avery's wand fly, again jumping up and stretching his arm. He felt himself grab hold to the boy's wand, holding both the teen spoke"will be holding onto these for the end of this practice or for when you two learn not to use dueling to take out your emotions." A nodd toward each before looking over at the slytherin boy, Draven Mirador. A polite nod accompanied by a soft smile as he spoke"apologies, mr. Mirador correct? Please continue with your pratice, I'll just be on the side with Avery and Colin."
Sending both a look followed by a nod as he would walk over to the side of the classroom, out of the way of the others and duels. Waiting for Avery and Colin, holding to their wands. Loki however would have left Henry's side, now following Avery as the feline rubbed to him.

As a heavy pall of dark smoke rolled from Mirador's wand and filled much of the room, Colin let out a frustrated growl. "GRRRRRRRR!!!" He tried to whuff but ended up snuffing and hacking on the extra snot Avery's curse had caused him to suffer from. "Achh! Blimey!" He blew his nose into his robe sleeve. It didn't help much because his kept running. "Cheng! Rebimd me to write a ndote for the elves to sengd you all ndis SNOT!!" He shook his head. It felt all stuffy and miserable!
He roared through the smoke: "Goddna get you Cheng!" He realised his voice it didn't sound too impressive with a clogged nose.
Colin heard a familiar voice speaking from near the door: "Ventus." It was Henry's voice. Fellow werewolf and elder brother in both pack and house. As the smoke cleared, Colin's first reaction was to charge at Avery! He knew he'd not be able to pronounce his spells clearly and didn't want to risk turning himself into a newt or something by accident. So, he'd have to rely on fists and knees and feet to take his foe down!
He heard Henry shout "expelliarmus!" But Colin ducked and the spell missed. Then he heard him terminate the dancing feet hex he'd placed on Avery. Oh well! Twas a nice dance while it lasted! And then he was between Colin and Avery, scolding them just like an older brother.
"Um --- nothing?" Colin shrugged a little as he looked up at Henry. "Chen hit me with the levitation charm, so I hit him back with dancing feet! Then he hit me with the snot curse. It was j---" He trailed off. Henry didn't look like he'd be interested in any kind of excuse or explanation right now.
Henry spoke of duelling not being about uncontrolled emotions or mere fighting. He seemed to emphasise the word 'fighting'. This caused Colin to wonder greatly. What did Henry mean? Wasn't that the point of duelling with magic? To fight in a way different from the merely physical?
Colin had to admit they were lucky he didn't squeal to a Prefect about what was going on here, but still, there was unfinished business now between him and Avery Chen! As Colin peered around Henry's side to glare at his nemesis, the older lad said "expelliarmus," and Colin's wand slipped from his fingers! He tried to grab it back, and jumped to snatch it as it rose into the air! But he couldn't jump high enough and Henry could, so the older boy caught it.
Colin hung his head, stung by the shame.
When Henry did the same to Avery, he didn't even smirk or laugh. He knew exactly how his classmate must feel after the excitement of the duel to be so easily disarmed! He looked over at Avery with a small shrug and a smile, as if to say 'well, that was fun while it lasted!'
He turned back towards the older Slytherin boy as he spoke with Mirador. Henry didn't have to command him, Colin knew that when his elder gave him the Look and the Nod, he'd have to obey. He only looked over to Avery again, shrugged and turned to follow after his older brother.

Thoroughly confused on what was going on, Bailey saw that Draven was write a list for dueling teams. She was going to get out of there, since this was clearly an unofficial duel and someone was going to get caught, until she saw her name. Smiling to herself over the fact that Dravy had written ‘Ms. Glade’ for her and no one else, she walked over to him.
Smiling at him, she held her sword at her side as she spoke. Slightly confused, she asked “Is this a duel? And if it is, I’m not here to duel or anything- I’m on my way to go train. I just saw that you included me on the list… and plus I wanted to come say hello. Just… be careful. You get detention enough- don’t get in trouble for this as well. Be safe- okay?”
Concern creased her brow with the last part of her statement. She was truly the ‘mum’ of any friend group she was in, never wanting anyone to get hurt.
After speaking to Dravy, Bailey slipped out of the room. Colin and another boy were dueling, and she knew that she needed to leave before she got defensive over her friend. Partly because she knew that she probably would not use her wand, (despite the fact that her sword was fake, she would end up hand fighting, and she was probably one of the best at it at hogwarts.) and partly because Kim was on the other team.
Once she got to the Rehersal room bailey started her training and the Duel slipped out of her mind.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Kim watched from afar. It was kind of amusing to witness the spectacle taking place before him between Avery and Irish. Or rather, Colin. One had levitated the other into the air, while the other made the former's legs start to dance. Both relatively harmless spells, hurting only the person's dignity and not their body or mind. Kim's eyes met Avery's and the latter looked away from him, probably embarrassed at having been seen by him. But there was no reason to be. It wasn't as if this was an official duel, it was an unofficial one. Yes, that did imply they could get into trouble if a prefect happened to come along, but there were a lot of people in the room. Kim could easily hide and slip away from them. If things got bad that is. He'd done it before and would probably do it again. As for Kim, he kind of wanted to create some mischief too. But nothing too serious. Well, maybe a little serious. Because after all, there were some higher-years around in the room. They could put out any spells easily that might have the potential to become dangerous. Kim's initial intention had been to remain neutral and help out both sides. But now they were apparently on teams of two, so he didn't have much of a choice. He was on Avery's side, which also included his somewhat-friend Draven. And childhood friend Regina. It was a perfect match-up because they had the best team at Hogwarts now. No one could beat them. A smirk came to his lips. It was then that Draven cast the Smokescreen Spell and a blanket of smoke started to appear inside the room. Kim subtly took out his own wand and stepped off to the side, near where Draven stood. He was ready to cast his own spells if an opportunity presented itself but would remain inactive until then. After all, he wanted to see what the others would do. Kim was more of a watcher than a doer. Unless he had a reason to participate. As of right now, he just wanted to see what kind of spells and actions the others would do against the opposing team. Most of their team was gathered together, with the exception of Avery, whose position was now unknown due to the smokescreen. DARK. He'd call their team DARK for now. It was the first letters of their names. "What do you think of having our team name be DARK? It's the first letters of each of our names." Kim asked Regina and Draven, curious to know what they would think. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

"Thanks, Draven," he murmured in response to Draven's good humor, "I admit I didn't know I could be so good at dancing myself."
Avery smirked as Colin growled back with a stuffy nose, sounding hardly intimidating at all. "Yeah? Well come at me, McCoire!" he challenged his housemate. "Let's see who's the last man standing." He grinned in appreciation at Draven's Smokescreen Spell to obscure their enemy's vision. Avery knew that they would make a good team, considering their excellent teamwork during Wargames. Let's get this party started.
He was about to cast his own spell at the opposing team, but a flurry of sparks hit him once more, and Avery soon discovered that he had stopped dancing. He glanced sideways to see a familiar face. "Henry!" he gasped, realizing in surprise that his roommate had entered the fray and put an end to his dancing feet. However, his gratitude was soon washed over by a sense of dread as Henry berated him and McCoire with a scolding. Avery smiled sheepishly at the older boy in response, then rolled his eyes as McCoire tried to make him look like he started the fight, when it was McCoire who did who-knows-what to upset Draven in the first place.
"Hey!" he couldn't help but call out and reach for his flying wand -- to no avail -- as Henry charmed it out of his hands. Henry said he would be holding onto their wands until they learned not to duel out their emotions? What a buzzkill. Avery pouted and crossed his arms, resigning to his lack of ability to cast anymore spells for the moment. He caught the sidelong shrug and smile from Colin, and responded with a sigh of his own, sharing in his classmate's sadness that they had gotten caught before they could see the end of their duel.
As he followed his roommate, friend, and mentor to the side of the classroom, he could kinda see what Henry meant, just a little bit. Dueling was a sport, not something you did because you wanted to pick a fight. "But what if we have to get into a fight, then what do we do? Can we not use magic?" the small boy asked, as if that was the most important question right now, and as if fights could not be prevented (indeed, it was difficult to stop fighting when one felt like it, in Avery's mind). Perhaps if magic couldn't be used, one would have to resort to kicks and punches.
"Anyway, this all started because I think Colin did something to upset Draven," he continued, realizing that McCoire hadn't answered the golden question yet. "Did you, Colin? What did you do?" he asked his housemate curiously and without judgement, hoping to get an answer. This could all be over if Colin just answered the question, and Avery was determined to get to the bottom of it first. Maybe it was Loki rubbing against his leg, or Colin's decrease in hostility now that they were caught, but Avery found himself calming down just a little bit.
"And how do you two know each other?" he asked, noticing that Colin seemed a lot more agreeable around Henry. Somehow, they seemed familiar with each other.

Henry slipped his own wand into his pocket, the two first year wand's held in his left. Firmly. The teen leaned aginest the wand, standing on the side of the room out of the way of the others dueling. Eyes flickering between the two lads.
Henry might be trying not to show any biased for one or the other but Loki didn't seem to care. The orange feline rubbed aginest Avery, pawing at his shoes. A meow directed toward him, asking for attention.
The teen smiled softly at his feline's behavior before it fade to the sound of the two first years he cares for voices rang. Colin, claiming that Avery cast first. The teen had a thought that something else happened, he knew Avery. The first year might be extroverted or adventurous or even childish at times but he could easily say that the lad isn't a fighter... at least not someone who would strike first off the quidditch pitch.
Eyes drifted toward Avery, listening. His words of fighting, not helping a small soft smile at them. He couldn't help it, Avery always brought out a smile from him. Reaching forward, a playful ruffle of Avery's hair as he spoke"magic is used to protect yourself not for school yard fights, I thought you would learn from last time, River," last time meaning when he caught Avery and Hildegard fighting although that had cause. Edward was nearly devoured by her feline.
Words came out toward him. Nodding. The teen understood now, Avery striked first out of loyalty for his friend and Colin took that as a call for an fight. Nodding, leaning back the teen spoke"from what I see, it seemed to be a simple misunderstanding. Aves, you want to defend your friend and Colin, you wanted to protect yourself." He held to their wand, eyes rolling over them. The teen twirling the wands softly through his fingers as an idea was born, a glance to both. His heart cared for both, he saw Colin as his packmate... a younger brother... Avery, a brother... mentee... friend.... there wasn't enough words to describe him. Will his idea be safe?
The teen hummed for a moment, eyeing the two. Avery's question. He figured he should explain, Loki stretched out on top of Avery's shoes as Henry spoke"Colin and I know each other from when we met in the owlery, I help him and we're close," a nod toward Colin, "and Colin, Avery and I are bunk mates. I help him, we're close and he's like a brother to me." Actually you both are... the thought ringing in his ears. Brushing back his hair, holding one wand in each hand as he spoke"if you both want to duel, what about this... we meet together in the dueling room for a safe and legal duel, I'll watch." A glance at both.

Avery seemed to be quite agitated about the way Henry so definitively disarmed the two duellists. Locked in dire combat a mere moment before, their vicious stares boring into each other, the two champions sought to outdo, out fight, and overcome the other! Colin smiled as he replayed the epic contest before his mind's eyes. The match was close, and would have soon turned to fists and knees and elbows but the interruption of a greater power! It had been fun indeed, and under other circumstances, he'd have been quite happy to duel with Avery Chen!
Henry, a seasoned warrior and wise counsellor, put a halt to the fight! Colin knew he was dismayed, and it seemed like Avery was positively beside himself, quite unable to come to grips with the sudden termination of hostilities! "Don't be such a dim candle, Chen!" Colin whispered to his housemate. He rolled his eyes. "Of course we'd use magic if we get into a fight. That's not his point. Just whisht and maybe you'll learn something!"
Colin wondered what Henry's actual point was. Of course, he'd never admit that to Chen! Though what Henry said about duelling and emotions made sense. He thought it might be a little like hunting. Hunting was such a rush! --- and it was so easy to let the emotion and excitement run free. Colin knew from experience that one's prey would only take advantage of him and find some means of escape. So, he'd simply bide and learn what Henry had to teach. There wasn't anything else he could do anyway --- not until Henry decided to him his wand back!
Avery seemed to ignore him, like he was still eager to continue the fight! If Henry's mere presence hadn't put the thought from his mind, he'd've happily trounced Chen, magic or no! In stead, all Avery did was roll right into a blame someone else story! Did something to upset Draven!? Colin thought. He looked at Avery with an expression of both wonder and exasperation. He knew his face turned red, and his fists flexed and relaxed. If Henry would let me, I'd happily pummel the little liar!
"Grrrrr," he gave Avery a warning growl, low so as not to be generally heard, but just enough to get the other boy's attention.
Avery kept pestering him with questions. Rather than answer any of them, he simply went over towards Henry and stood next to him. Colin didn't think Avery would actually try and do anything with Henry close by. He did wonder how his elder brother knew Avery. He was fairly certain his classmate didn't share a particular --- condition --- in common with him. He wasn't much in the mood for finding out either, not since Chen said he'd done something to upset Mirador. Huh. I don't even know Mirador!
Colin only resumed his stare, boring into Avery's eyes. His lips moved, yet hardly a sound escaped them: "Slippery adder! Slithers nigh causing woe on chute or ladder; lie or truth, which shall make him madder?"
Colin looked up to Henry, and when he at last began speaking, he paid attention. He listened as Henry told Avery not to pick fights with magic. When he called the younger boy 'River', Colin's attention was piqued --- River? What could that mean!? There must be a story there! And then he settled their score by deciding that the matter was a misunderstanding. The determination irked Colin, and he gave Avery a glare --- but as he thought about it, it kind of made sense, right? He could see how Henry saw it: Avery must know Mirador, or else why would he burst in and attack, right? It made sense.
Colin nodded towards Avery. "He makes sense, Chen. I'd've done the same thing to you, if I thought you were messing with my brother or a friend. But listen: I don't know Mirador. At all. So. I --- respect what you did, but you were wrong. I didn't do anything to him. I don't know what you were thinking, but all I know is I heard there was going to be some kind of duelling practice and I wanted to join in! When you blasted, me, I was just reading this book I f- --- um, I was just reading."
He considered Henry's words as he explained to Avery and himself how he knew them. He reckoned that the bond he shared with Henry was quite different than the one Henry and Avery shared. All the same, he was glad that the older boy didn't mention anything specific. He bit his lower lip in thought. He wasn't sure how much or even if he could trust Avery Chen.
Colin's mood changed suddenly as he saw Henry holding their wands, one in each hand! Henry was inviting them to a proper duelling practice in the Duelling Hall! A smile crept across his face as he turned first towards Avery, and then back towards Henry. "You what? That's wicked!! A real duel? Are you kidding?" Colin pumped the air with his fists and his eyes sparkled brightly and excitement shone in his face! "YESSS!"
He turned back towards Avery with a rather more impish grin. "What do you say Chen? Ready for some more dancing practice?"

When Colin called him a ‘dim candle’, Avery frowned at his housemate indignantly and pursed his lips. “W-well if you’re so smart, why’d you cast at me, too?” he protested, but hardly knowing what he was saying or where he was going with his remark. Hmph! There was no way he was going to give an inch to McCoire, who had tried to bully Draven, or whatever he did. Really, the two of them could probably argue back and forth all day.
As Colin growled at him, Avery almost jumped. What in the world was McCoire muttering about? Wasn’t the boy a little strange, like Vale? Though Vale was certainly more endearing. He knew that kids who grew up in the magical world were always a little odd. “Errr, sure, truth please?” he answered, unsure whether McCoire’s question was rhetorical.
As Henry referenced his tussle with Hildegard, Avery glowed red. It was not a proud moment for him, after all, punching a girl in the face – even if she was being outrageous and cruel. He knew that Henry was merely trying to guide him towards better behavior as he brought this up, not to shame him, since he used the familiar nickname that he called Avery when the two were up to mischief. “Okaaay, Henry,” he responded softly to the older boy as he absent-mindedly smoothed his ruffled hair, “I got it. I’ll try my best not to get into fights with magic, too, in the future,” he reassured his mentor, squatting down to give Loki a few scritchy-scratches under the chin.
Henry seemed to get it – Avery was simply trying to defend Draven. He listened as Colin explained, giving Loki a few extra pets. “…Oh,” Avery responded as he got back up with a grimace, suddenly feeling majorly awkward and guilty about levitating Colin out of nowhere. “Well, dang, I’m sorry,” he apologized. Yeesh! “I just came in levitating you like a drying rack of ham. What I heard was that Draven was going to settle some scores with someone in the empty classroom today, probably because someone insulted him, so I immediately assumed it was you, since you showed up first. UGH that’s embarrassing,” he moaned, putting a hand to his forehead. Here he was again, doing the Avery signature move of bursting into places and randomly screwing things up.
So, Colin and Henry met before and became close, huh? It didn’t occur to our small boy that the two boys might’ve met as werewolves; Avery wasn’t the brightest of the bunch, mind you. However, Avery couldn’t help feeling a bit proud as Henry said he was like a brother to him.
His ears soon perked up. A duel?? A real life one-on-one duel? Was Henry really offering that? Avery was not one to back down from a challenge, or his first opportunity to do an actual duel that didn’t involve a whole group of students. “Wow, a real duel standoff? There’s no way I can say no to that,” he replied instantly. “Ha! Prepare to get smoked, McCoire! Let’s see how well those weak legs of yours can dance ballet.” He was jesting, of course. He had no idea what Colin’s legs were like, but he was sure gonna try ‘em.

"Hey-" Henry replied to Colin's remarks toward Avery however Avery beat him to. Eyes flickering between the two as he spoke"magic isn't for schoolyard fights, it's only to be used in actual life or death situations to defend yourself," the teen felt a little bad for lecturing the two about dueling and when to use magic especially since he had his fair share of schoolyard duels outside of the dueling room.
Henry eyed Colin. The lad seemed to be acting strange, his ears perked up at the growl.... did he just growl? He haven't seen a werewolf act such like a beast, he only read of them and do it often perplexed him to why Colin growl.
Loki must have cuaght the tension between the two first years, the feline jumped and lashed out. Batting at Colin's legs before sitting besides Avery once more. Rubbing his head on lad. Henry eyed his feline, use to him not being one of aid in situations such as these.
Did they both apologize? The teen eyed them, a raised eyebrow before it dropped. Their words such like that of a apology but he wasn't sure if either of their hearts were in the right place or if they won't immediately go back to casting at one another as soon as he leaves. The teen bit his bottom lip, he searched for a solution to end this safety and came up with a duel.
A safe and legal on in the dueling room where he would observe and interfere if one needed the fuel stopped. Posing the question to the two lads, he nodded at their responses.
Both a yes. Colin and Avery. Nodding. He held their wands in his hand as he spoke"brilliant, meet in the dueling room after classes tomorrow," a nod toward each, "and remember try to at least stay away from fighting, both of you but if you can't then do it in places where you can't get caught by a professor or prefect." A nod toward each, their wands still on his hand as he eyed them.
"I'll be in the library, when you leave from here both of you can come there for your wands or I'll just leave yours in or room, Aves," Henry spoke. A nod toward each. The teen softly whistled, calling for his feline to follow. Walking toward the door, he playfully ruffled Avery's hair then squeezed Colin's shoulders as he walked from that room with Loki following.
