Help!
After class Quinn went right to her common room, she changed out of her school robes. Into a t-shirt and shorts. She was going to swim in the lake. It was her favorite place at hogwarts. Next to the library. Today was the day she was going to swim, she had been wanting to do it for a while now. There were multiple reasons she wanted to.
One,
It looked to be a good way to cool off after her classes.
two,
She had been told not to, Being told not to do something only made her want to do it more. Like wanting to go into the forest.
Quinn reached the lake and took a deep breath before diving into the lake. The water was cold, She tried to ignore the cold water and swam further from the shore. 'This isn't to bad, Just cold' She thought as she moved a bit closer to the center of the lake.
What? Quinn lost her balance, She was going under. The cold water went above her head. Quinns eyes where wide, 'What? oh my god, This cant be happing!!' She thought flaring around trying to break to the surface.
She did "HELP!!" She shouted when she broke the surface for a second. The fear of no one coming to come and help her hair had turned it to a bright Green. She was splashing all around holing her breath. Hoeing someone, anyone would help.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Today had not gone how he'd expected it to go. Kim had thought he'd finally meet the person who had sent him that letter yesterday during dinner time. But the writer of the letter must have gotten cold feet because they hadn't shown up at the designated location. That or it had all been a prank or joke on him. After all, he wasn't entirely sure it had been Hunter. It was just that he couldn't think of anyone else who was a Hufflepuff who might have written something like this to him. Kim let out a sigh as he reached up to scratch his head. He'd waited for 15 minutes for them. Waiting longer than that seemed desperate to him and Kim wasn't about to give them the satisfaction of making him wait forever for someone who wasn't going to show up. The boy shifted his enchanted satchel strap over his shoulder and decided to leave the area. He'd gotten it during break as a present from his parents. Puffie loved getting inside it all the time. Kim had to constantly make sure the pygmy puff wasn't inside every time he picked it up to go somewhere. He supposed it was because sometimes he brought his ordinary satchel and Puffie liked riding at the top of it, poking his head out as he was transported in such a manner. But the enchanted satchel was different, as it could hold up to a trunk's worth of items. So Puffie could get lost or hurt inside that one. He could even die if something went wrong, so that was why Kim didn't allow him to go in it. Still, it wasn't as if he could control Puffie all the time he thought. He'd made sure Puffie wasn't inside this time. The pink puffball had been sleeping when he'd gotten back to Gryffindor Tower to change clothes. Kim had taken great care to not wake him as he quickly left the area. The purple haired boy thought to himself for a few minutes and then decided to head for the Great Lake. He kind of wanted to cool off a little and although he knew swimming wasn't allowed without supervision, Kim had a solution for this. The boy knew the rules were in place to ensure safety for students. But keeping to the shallows would be fine. Dipping his feet would be fine. Wading would be fine. As long as he remained at the edges and only wet his feet, it would be fine. That was all the boy intended on. However, when he got to his destination, things changed rather abruptly for the purple haired student. Because a shout for help reached his ears and he looked out across the Great Lake. At first he didn't see anyone but then he suddenly saw a head of dark hair turn a bright green. A Metamorphmagus was drowning out there. Kim dropped his enchanted satchel at the shoreline, slipped out of his sneakers and jacket and dove into the waters. He quickly swam out into the Lake and towards the student who was floundering around there. Reaching the person, he grabbed hold. Of the collar of their shirt. Kicking his legs, he headed back to shore with the student in tow, as he helped them back to solid ground. It was then that he saw another figure at the shoreline. A familiar one. Irish! What was he doing there? Getting back to the shore, Kim stood, using his strength to lift the person he'd saved up onto the bank. "Irish! What are you doing here?" Kim remarked and glanced down at the one he'd just saved. "Ah, Quinn? It was you?" He said, surprised by her identity, fancy that. The girl had been Quinn. "You alright?" Kim asked, wanting to make sure she wasn't going to pass out. If she did, he'd have Colin give her CPR. Or have him carry Quinn to the hospital wing. He let his eyes flicker over him. Colin hadn't been there when he'd first gotten to the Lake. No one had been there. He must have come during the time that Kim had jumped in, trying to save Quinn. What nice timing he had. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

The great lake is one of the places Samantha could be found most whenever she was at Hogwarts, coming in second on her list of favourite places after the library on the first spot. As the weather improved, the prefect could be spotted outside more and more every week and today was no exception. Having planned to read outside, the brunette made her way over to the great lake with her bag and a big smile.
Reducio
As she got closer to the water she noticed some movement, causing her to stop abruptly. Squinting, she tried to get a better look at whatever caused the splashing. Was it the squid or was somebody breaking the valuable rules of great importance by swimming in the great lake? Soon the young prefect was distracted by something she saw in the corner of her eye. It seemed like a figure, presumably a student, with purple hair got rid of something before diving in the water. An offended gasp escaped Samantha's mouth when she noticed the person jumping in the water and swimming over to the place where she had previously seen the other movement. How dare they swim in the dangerous lake without supervision and break the rules!
As fast as her little feet could carry her, she started running towards the place she had seen the second person going into the water. Her bag, which contained the book she had wanted to read among other things, hit her side with every step she took but she didn't let that slow her down from catching the rude little rule-breakers. It took Samantha pretty long before reaching the place where the purple-haired student had gone in the water, because she had been on the other side of the great lake before, and when she finally arrived there were three other students, from which two completely soaked, on the grass.
Her shiny prefect badge was worn proudly on her robe where everybody could see it, as she approached the students with a serious look on her face. "Samantha Salwis, Prefect of Ravenclaw," she introduced herself to the other students. "Did you guys have a nice unauthorized swim in the great lake against the school rules?" the brunette asked with all the sass in her little body. Lying to her would only make the situation worse since the two were caught red-handed.

Attire: Usual weekend kit: Slytherin pride, neck ring, kilt, no shoes. Nothing fancy!Reducio

Classes were done for the day and Colin decided it would be a great day for yet another dunk in the loch, so he decided to head down to his dungeon home and change out of robes and into a more comfortable kilt. He didn't even bother with socks or tying his shoes, because he knew exactly what he'd do once he hit the courtyard!
And with that, he dashed through the common room, waved to any friends that were there and was out into the corridor in half a wink. Once he got to the impressive stair well, he dashed up all 236, 409 stairs, headed for the courtyard and the fresh air of the Highlands! He hardly slowed down as he kicked off his Doc Martens and deftly caught them up in his hands. Tying them together, he slung them over his left shoulder and let out a joyful howl before embarking on the mad dash down to the lake.
"OWOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
He saw that someone else shared the same brilliant idea of going for a swim, but they were already quite a ways out from shore. Colin had decided to explore closer in, so he chucked his shoes, shirt and kilt in a heap, leaving him among the seven percent of Scotsmen, and he happily waded out into the comfortably cool waters of the loch.
After a while, when Colin was under the water checking out some interesting rocks and things along the bottom, he heard a muffled, roaring splash. He looked up from his position near the bottom and could see a dark shape heading away from shore. Clearly he was not the only person who enjoyed a dunk on the loch!
Thinking nothing of it, he rose to the surface for a quick breath and then dove again to continue his exploration. He felt like Jacques Cousteau, exploring some ancient sunken city as he sifted through the artefacts left behind by the inhabitants of the last civilisation of the place. He found the remnants of tough leather, possibly a warrior's caligulan boot, which he left behind; a little ways on he discovered a nobleman's treasure hoard, a heavily tarnished bracelet and neck chain; and a most curious thing indeed --- clearly some daring explorer had dropped her treasure map, only for daring adventurer Colin McCoire to yoink it from the depths of Manana's lair! For indeed, he held in his hands, apart from the bracelet and the necklace, a packet of old parchment into which someone had tucked, of all things, a wax pencil! He could see a faded design on the front, but that would have to wait! He had to go up and take a breath!
Standing at the shore, he heard a voice from behind: "Irish! What are you doing here?" Colin turned at the sound of Kim's voice. He was about to cry out a greeting to his Gryffindor friend, but once he saw that Kim was dragging a fellow student along, he splashed over to help.
"Kim! What happened!? QUINN!!! Are you okay!!??" He shook Quinn by her shoulders.
As he crouched down next to his friend, he heard another voice. Uh-oh. It was a Voice of Authority. He hadn't noticed anyone else nearby as he got out of the water, and he didn't know who Samantha Salwis was, except perhaps in passing from Quinn, but Colin felt in very bones that the voice would just have to have a Prefect's badge behind it!
"Did you guys have a nice unauthorized swim in the great lake against the school rules?" the voice said.
Colin looked up from Quinn. Sure enough. Crisp Ravenclaw robes. Book in hand. "Oh drat," he said under his breath. He knew that Ravenclaw Precepts were most to be dreaded, and this one looked like she'd be a hanging judge for sure! There's be no getting around the rules with Salwis on the watch!
Well, nothing for it lad! he thought. Colin looked up at the new voice. "Oh! Good afternoon Miss Prefect Salwis!! It's a pleasure to see you down here by the beautiful lakeside! It is a lovely afternoon, is it not?, for a nice dunk in the loch or," he nodded briefly towards Samantha's book, "a bit of light reading?"
Colin stood up then and gave the Prefect a bow, then pushed his hair back out of the way behind his shoulders, his brilliant green eyes fixed confidently on her face.

Help!
Quinn was going under when she had felt a tug on the collar of her shirt. She was saved, She assited the savaior by moving up the shore as they helped. When she was on shore she caughed up some water, She felt a bit lightheaded not by much. Looking at who had draged her out she saw that it was Kim. He called someone Irish, Looking where he was talking Quinn saw Colin.
Kim sounded somwhat surprised that Quinn was the one in the lake, he asked if she was alright. Quinn nodded, "Im good, thanks to you!!" Quinn stoped for a moment "If you wenrt there...." She shook her head, not wanting to think about it.
Colin then asked if Quinn was ok too, as he shook her sholders. "Yes, I think im good" Quinn smiled at him to try and show that she was fine. Then a girl showed up, She had a badge. The badge showed that she was a prefect. Her words confermed it, She said that her name was Samatha. She asked if they had a nice swim in the lake, Quinn did not apraite the sass.
Colin talked to her much more kindly then Quinn was going to. She took a deep breath 'Dont sass her back, That will just conferm detetion' She thought. In the calmest tone she could manage she spoke to the ravenclaw "Too answer you question, I did not enjoy the swim. As I almost drowned" Quinn told her, She fuiged she might as well give her the truth, no harm in denying it. She also thought she may get some slack, seing as she could have died. "Kim here saved me from what could have been my watery grave" She said. Also the truth.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Colin's question made Kim shake his head. "I don't know. I was passing by and heard her call for help and then I saw her out there." Kim said. He turned to regard Quinn. "What were you doing out there? It's against the rules to go swimming in the Great Lake without permission." The purple haired boy reminded her. It was around this time that he heard footsteps hurrying towards them and turned to see a Ravenclaw with a prefect badge on her robes. Lovely. What perfect timing, Kim thought to himself and was glad he hadn't actually been out to swim. Turning to face her, he was about to speak in regards to her words when Quinn beat him to the punch, explaining the events to the girl. The girl who had introduced herself to them as Samantha Salwis, prefect of Ravenclaw. Kim nodded when Quinn finished speaking and inclined his head towards Samantha, the prefect of the birds. "Indeed. I happened to be close by and heard her call out for help and spotted her in the water soon after. I know the rules state you should call for a superior or a prefect and not try to help yourself. But if she was drowning out there and no one was around, I don't see why I can't try to help myself. If I'd followed the rules, she might have died during the time it would take to find someone more 'qualified' than me." The boy said matter-of-factly, with no sarcasm or sass in his voice. He was just stating a fact. "Of course, if it comes down to technicality I did break the rules. But anyone else who might have tried to save her would have also broken the rules too. What exactly is expected from students in such a situation in your opinion? I'm actually curious to know what you think. If you saw someone in front of you drowning, would you decide to help them and save their life? Or would you let them perish while you ran for help from a prefect or teacher, so that you wouldn't end up in any trouble?" Kim asked, gazing at Samantha. The prefect's response would definitely be helpful to him in the future as to know what to do. Solomon Lear, the Headmaster, had never spoken of what to do in such a situation during the welcome feast. He also hadn't posted any notices about this on the bulletin board about it either. Kim hadn't even been able to find any information on this in books, and as he was a bit of a perfectionist he did tend to read old books on rules and history related matters when it came to the school. "But I do apologize for breaking the rules for this. If I'd had a chance to help her without breaking them, I would have done so." Kim added as he waited for her reply. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

The first of the tree to speak was quite an interesting figure to say at least. Where typical students would apologise or try to deny breaking any rules, he started to talk about the weather. If she had broken any rules, Samantha wouldn't have called the presence of a prefect a pleasure. What an odd kid was this boy. "I am not here to make small talk," she told the boy seriously while looking at him bowing with great suspicion.
After taking a deep breath the second one to speak was the other girl, who admitted she had swam in the great lake. A big grin appeared on the prefect's face when she heard the unknown girl admit she had broken the rules. The smile didn't last long, as it was replaced by a worried look in Samantha's blue eyes when Quinn addressed the topic of drowning. "Oh no, are you okay?" she asked worriedly, gently placing her right hand on the shoulder of the other girl to check if she was fine. The brunette may hate rule-breakers but she hated the idea of having a student drown a lot more.
"It's a good thing Kim was here then!" she said relieved, trying to figure out which of the two boys was the saviour. She didn't have to wait very long for the answer because the purple-haired boy started to speak. While the boy was talking, Samantha took the time to observe the boy. Towering above her, he was wearing soaking wet clothes and a couple of pieces of jewellery. He calmly explained the situation, showing respect to her as prefect, and did a quite good job convincing her he had done the right thing by breaking the rules.
"Well, you did break the rules," she said thoughtfully, "but you did it to save somebody who was drowning because they were stupid enough to go swimming in the great lake against the rules." After finishing her sentence Samantha glared at the other girl for a second before turning back to the boy who had asked the question. She needed to make a decision and stick with it or these students might question her authority and not listen to her. "You did the right thing, so you won't be getting detention," she informed Kim. "However, the same can not be said for these two," she said, turning to the other two students.
They had both admitted to swimming in the great lake without permission and neither had done it to save somebody's life, so they deserved detention. "What are your names, houses and school year?" she demanded. "Don't even think about lying to me," she told the two before they would get any weird ideas. "Hereby, I give you," her finger pointed to Quinn, "and you," now aiming her finger to Colin, "detention for breaking rule number 6, which is students may not swim in the lake without staff supervision," she quoted the rules she knew, along with all the other school rules, by heart.

ReducioCongrats Colin and Quinn! You have managed to land yourself detention! You can familiarize yourself with our Detention System here. You, the player, are absolutely not in any trouble, the detention is IC.
I will make the starter of detention in which I explain the context of the detention, the expectations, and the requirements to complete the detention. Only when I post the detention thread (I will try to post it in 24 hours) will the detention rules begin. You can continue to RP in this thread, to have your character react to the situation or even try to bully Samantha out of giving them detention.

Colin gave the Prefect a look of confusion. "I wasn't making small talk! I was simply greeting one of our dear school's beloved Prefects!" But Samantha's prefecturely glare would not be budged or softened by Colin's honest respect for her authority! She merely shifted her gaze and focused her interrogation on Quinn and Kim. Colin didn't like the sound of that!
He knew he'd been caught fair, and one detention was a small price to pay for a relaxing swim! But there was no way Samantha could give either Kim or Quinn detentions! After all Kim rescued Quinn and Quinn was nearly eaten by deep pelagic creatures of the abyss!
Colin watched as she focused on Kim and --- didn't give him detention!! "Yes! Justice is not dead!" he said quietly. "Well that ought to about wrap it up!" Colin fully expected to be the only one to receive detention.
But when Samantha said 'these two', Colin's jaw dropped open! The witch was going to give Quinn detention too!? Colin had to think fast. It's bad enough Quinn almost drowned, but to land in detention too? That was too much! "Hey! You can't do that, Salwis!" He looked back at Quinn quickly, hoping she wouldn't say anything. "You've got the wrong end of the broom, Prefect: you shouldn't give Quinn detention at all! She almost drowned! Anyway. Er. Twas my idea."
Colin folded his arms across his chest and stood in front of Quinn. Mostly so the Prefect couldn't see Quinn's face. "I mean, you have to admit, it really is a lovely day for a swim! In fact, I was just now exploring the archaeological remains of an ancient and undocumented coastal habitation! Picture it!"
He spread his hands apart as if miming a window into the imagination. "Here, among the rocks the intrepid explorers glode smoothly beneath the brisk water's surface! On the search for ancient ruins and long lost treasures! Ever aware of the pelagic dangers that lurk in the gloomy depths! I enticed her to go for a swim! Anyway, it's not my first. B-but we got separated, and I thought she was exploring on her own. But that's when Kim saw her and rescued her! She's been through enough, don't you think? Anyway, I'm the only miscreant here."
Colin nodded his head and stared into Samantha's blue eyes. "You can send me to Azkaban! But don't take Quinn! Not for this!" Colin had no idea what Rule No. 6 was, but he wanted to protect his friend from it.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | The prefect seemed like a nice person. But of course appearances could be deceiving, something Kim had grown aware of at an early age. He watched as she expressed concern over Quinn's well being and then directed her attention at him. As the girl considered the situation and her options, Kim waited patiently for her judgment. Whatever it was, he would take it. Trying to barter, fight or weasel his way out of something like this wasn't something he wanted to do. After all, technically he had broken the rules, even if it was to save someone's life. For him, he didn't think he should be punished for this, but at the same time the rules were there for a reason. To him, they could be bent but not broken. As Samantha gave her judgment, Kim nodded. He wasn't going to be punished for his actions. That decision was probably the best for everyone, as it had to do with morals and not rule-breaking in general. Samantha's next words, having to do with Colin and Quinn, were not so lenient. Kim let his eyes flicker over to them. Logically, those two had indeed broken the rules for their own purposes, and therefore deserved detention. Even though Quinn had been drowning, she wouldn't have been in such a dangerous situation in the first place if she hadn't broken the rules here. Of course they were also people he knew. Colin he'd recently developed an interest in and wanted to get to know him better. Perhaps over the summer. Before summer camp started. Colin had also been hanging around Kim's small group a lot more too. So he got to see him more than he usually would have. He raised a brow when Colin tried to take all the blame for this swimming incident and wondered just how much of that was true. But no words were spoken. "Take care, Quinn. I'm glad to see you're doing fine now. Colin, I'll see you later!" Kim said as he called attention back to himself again. "Salwis." He added and inclined his head towards her. "Zàijiàn!" He said, using the Mandarin word for goodbye. Kim raised his hand to place it in front of his right eye, using two fingers to make a horizontal peace sign and tilted his head to the side a bit. And then he leaned down to pick up his sneakers, jacket and enchanted satchel from the shoreline, leaving the other three people to do whatever it was they wanted to do. Kim was currently soaking wet from having to dive into the lake from earlier and hadn't learned the Scouring Charm yet, so he couldn't use that spell to dry himself off instantly. Thus, he needed to head back to the castle to get a towel to dry himself off a little. Unless he ran into someone on the way who had one. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────
