Winter had done as she has many times before since the start of her schooling, going down to the lake for some fresh air. The lake was a place for her to think and get her mind straight. Of course, she hadn't had much to think of and still so much was on her mind, she missed home, her family, her pup. She knew she would see them again and yet the thought of them not being by her side was a bit upsetting being she had grown up with them there all her life. This school was a blessing, so many amazing people surrounded her and even accepted her for who she was. The people she found herself to be friends with weren't her friends at all, rather a new sort of family one she is proud to be by.

She sat by the lake, holding small stones in her hand, flat, smooth stones that she had been tossing towards the water. The stones would skim over the gentle waves a few times before sinking below. She watched the water splash each time, the droplets hitting the water as they flew up and returned to their rightful place. Her usual face, a large smile and bright eyes hadn't been present now she instead had a, well, blank expression. It saddened her to realize all the would be missing in her hometown while she was away, but nothing could make her regret coming here. Memories passed her mind as she wondered how all was doing back there with her aunt. She took a moment to look up into the sky, it was rather nice out for a dhampir as herself, it wasn't exactly bright though nor had it been dark, it was just perfect weather.

The girl looked down to the ground as she hugged her knees, a small familiar face popping up from beneath her legs, it was Koja. "Hey bud..." she said as she gave her pet her hand. She paused before speaking quietly to him "my parents would've loved you, I'm sure of it." her words sounded sad, her furry friend nuzzling into her hand with realization. She smiled weakly at him before continuing to speak "the shop owner never mentioned your parents Koja, guess was in the same boat huh?" she sighed as she laid back on the soft grass, Koja crawling up to lay on her stomach, he too letting out a mini sigh

"As long as someone in this world is there for you, there's nothing you can't do, nothing" she closed her eyes as her thoughts continued.
