The Letter

My first year at Hogwarts was almost over. All of my classes were winding down and I was exited for my summer at Camp James, with my best friend Athena. A few days before leaving Hogwarts, a letter for me arrived. It was my mum's owl so it must have been important. I grabbed the letter from the owl and ripped it open.
Peacock! Come here girl! Can you take this back to mum?"
Peacock flew out the open window and I turned and headed back to the common room, with a feeling of anxiety fluttering in my chest.

My face fell. I sat down on my bed, and closed the book I had been reading. I imagined my dad, laying in one of those beds. No. This can't be happening. I took a deep breath and pulled out a fresh piece of parchment, quill, and ink. I wrote quickly.𝒟𝑒𝒶𝓇 𝒞𝒶𝓇𝒶,

I sprinted off to the Owlery. I hadn't sent many letters to my parents because I didn't like finding a random owl. But this time I only had to find mums barred owl, named Peacock.Dear Mum,
Is dad ok? Are Justin and Parker ok? Was anybody else we know injured?

The Letter
I walked up to the owlery to owl my letter to my brother. As I walked I couldn't help but feel excited for the holidays. My brother wouldn't be there- he had to study for a test to become an Auror- but it would still be fun.We always had fun at Christmas. Exchanging presents, playing tricks on each other, laughing about school. This would be the first christmas without him and I already miss him.Before he graduated we were pratically joined at the hip. But now I barely see him.Constantly worried he's hurt. At least, I'll be able to see him during the summer.
When I got there a girl with medium brown hair was sending a letter with a barred owl.. She looked pale and worried. "Is everything okay?" I said, softly so I don't scare her. Even if someone is in a different house I try to be nice and put the silly prejudices aside. My parents always told me don't judge a book by it's cover. I always remembered that. Oh and.... If you show yourself as a threat be prepared to get attacked.I glanced around for my owl and looked back at the girl.I smiled to show her I wasn't a threat.

When the other girl walked I was kinda shocked. I probably looked like I was going to have a breakdown on the floor. She asked me what was wrong. I looked up at her and looked back down. She had brown curly hair and was holding a few letters. I looked back up. The other girl smiled, probably trying to be nice.
I remembered back to when I found someone who was crying in the Hufflepuff common room. I had conforted them, and by the end of it they were feeling better. Now it was my turn.
"Umm well my uhh..." I was pondering over if I should tell her the truth. "I just received news that... My dad's in St. Mungos, which is a hospital for witches and wizards, and I'm just checking to see if he's ok." I had just told this random stranger girl I didn't even know, about my new biggest problem. I took a deep breath and looked out the window, trying to spot Peacock. Nope. She was gone. I took another deep breath and took a quick glance up at the girl and immediately looked down at my feet.
