┌───────────────────────────── ∘°❉°∘ ─────────────────────────────┐
└─────────────────────────────°∘❉∘° ─────────────────────────────┘Tired. Vivian felt tired. She had a throbbing headache for most of lunch and the rest of her classes throughout the afternoon, her day practically ruined. Why did she need to feel so exhausted today of all days, when she had so much to get done? Vivian was so worn out she felt that if she were to crawl into her warm bed and close her eyes for two seconds, she would never wake up. At least she could rest her aching limbs.
To be honest, Vivian hadn't the slightest idea of why she was tired. Throughout her entire school year, occasionally she felt as if she would simply pass away during classes when it was her off-days, but today was 10 times worse. She didn't just feel tired, too, it was another feeling, haunting her. It was like a little blob of emptiness, floating around in her headspace, bumping against her thoughts, ruining her trail of thought.
Homesick. You're homesick, the little voice said. You want to go home.
Vivian shook her head. She couldn't go home. She didn't want to. There wasn't a single part of her that wanted to leave the walls of Hogwarts and take the long trip home.
But why did that voice leave her speechless?
Vivian groaned, slumping over the table she was currently sitting at, her textbook that had been propped up on her bag lying on the table falling onto its side with a thump. She was currently sitting in the library, the safe sancutary almost like a second home to her. Well, not at the moment.
She had entered the library right after her evening classes, a small smile on her face, holding her textbooks confidently as she strode into the library, determined to finish the rest of the homework she had been assigned. She hadn't gotten the chance to finish it before she bumped into Neptune, but she was sure she would finish it during her free time.
Oh how wrong she was.
She was currently almost done with her homework, yes, so the homework necessarily wasn't the problem. It was the thoughts that were clouding her already weary brain that were. Vivian considered herself to be "smart", daresay a bit "above average." She would never say she was a genius or a top-student, but she did get good grades. But unfortunately, she wasn't quite in the mood to finish up this essay at the moment. Or at all, today.
Her mind was swirling with many thoughts about home. She missed Derwin and Bartholomew, her brothers. She missed her father and aunt. She missed laughing with them as they played boardgames as a family, and spending time outside during hikes. She missed cooking with them, getting flour all over themselves as they made cupcakes.
She missed her mother the most.
Her smile, her reasurring voice, her gentle hugs, her cheery disposition, Vivian missed it all. Those quiet hours they would spend together in the garden or the library was something she logner for again. Her mother was the most kindest person in the world, and Vivian would stand by that statement till the day she died.
Vivian didn't realize it, but a few tear drops had fallen onto her parchment. She blinked in surprise and quickly wiped away the tears staining her cheek, dabbing at the teardrops on her homework.
Idiot! Why are you crying? You have no reason to cry. You just miss them, that's all. Maybe you should just quit and go home. Your not fit for Hogwarts after all.
Your not fit for Hogwarts after all.
Something shattered at the moment. Vivian wasn't sure if it was her heart of the little remaining strength she had left to keep herself from snapping, but it was enough to start the waterworks.
Tears slowly but surely slid down her cheeks as she packed her things quickly. Homework could be finished later. Forget about that. She needed to go somewhere. But where? Anywhere but here. You can't go home. Then where?
She was so confused and lost. She sat down heavily on her chair, the legs squeaking against the floor.
What do I do?

Those Quiet Hours
Rosie was a frequent visitor to the library as of late.
With OWLS coming up, Rosie needed to be on her academic game! It was sort of a joke that the girl was too spacey to pay attention to studying, but that wasn't far from the truth. She had studied with Reid a few times, but she was so distracted that he needed to constantly remind her to get her face back into her book. She was starting to think the company was motivation for her distraction, so Rosie arrived to the library with a mission in mind! To learn! She was going to knock those OWLS right out of the water!
Carrying a stack of books in her arms, all that could be seen from the front of Rosie was a big fuzzy mess of curly brown hair, and the lower half of her body. When Rosie studied, she studied. Nothing was half-assed for Rosie. Ever. She did everything 110% of the way! Except for chores at home, she hated cleaning the litterbox more than anything... During the summer, she had to do it for two cats. Which frankly, is too much damn poop.
Turning the corner, Rosie blinked and poked her head around her books, seeing a young girl sulking in her chair. Well, the library wasn't a very cheerful place to be at... But it certainly wasn't for sulking! Rosie set her books down on another table, and trailed over to the girl. "Hey... You doing okay? These books can be pretty tough, but I'm telling you, they aren't that bad." She joked lightly, though her expression fell a bit. She was crying.

┌───────────────────────────── ∘°❉°∘ ─────────────────────────────┐
└─────────────────────────────°∘❉∘° ─────────────────────────────┘The young Ravenclaw shot her head up as she heard the familiar dull creak of the library doors being opened. She fumbled as she tried to stuff her quills into her bag, dropping one of them with her shaky hands.
Can't even put a quill away, the voice snickered. Vivian sniffled and tried to ignore it, grabbing at the dropped quill and successfully stuffing into her bag, but not before the new girl had spotted her.
And, worst of all she had spotted her crying.
Vivian still had a few tears stained on her rosy cheeks, and she quickly swiped them away as this newcomer approached her.
The girl was much taller than her, obviously in either 4th or 5th Year. From the looks of it, she was a Hufflepuff. Vivian snapped her fingers nervously behind her back, a habit she did whenever she was nervous.
"Hey... You doing okay? These books can be pretty tough, but I'm telling you, they aren't that bad."
The girl said in a bit of a jokeful manner. Vivian stiffened slightly. She thought she was stressed because of work.
The girls face fell once her startlingly emerald green eyes met Vivian's, noticing how her eyes were slightly puffy. Shit, she noticed. Run! Do something! the voice hissed. Vivian couldn't do anything but nervously shift in demeanor.
"I'm perfectly fine, before you ask. It's my allergies. Terrible this time of year. I was outside before and I still haven't quite recovered." Vivian said firmly, grabbing the strap of her bag before adjusting it and letting her hands fall to her sides. Amaaazing coverup, idiot. She totally won't fall for that.
Trying to shift the awkward topic around, Vivian plastered on a small smile and stuck out her hand, which for some reason was slightly trembling.
"I'm Vivian. Vivian Crowell. Who am I pleasured to make and acquaintance with?" She said in a light airy tone, watching the girl with careful eyes.

Those Quiet Hours
Now, Rosie was quite the crybaby herself.
She had used every excuse under the sun to convince people she wasn't crying. Dust, allergies, sad cat video, whatever. Though Rosie wasn't one to accuse someone of lying immediately. She placed her hands on her hips and peered down at the younger girl. She looked quite young, so Rosie guessed she was a first or second year. Which honestly made it a little sadder. Kids came here for the first time, confused and maybe excited, and sometimes you find them crying in places like the library. Or the corridors... Or the Great Lake... Or the Quidditch locker room.... Not that Rosie would know, obviously. She never cried. Ever.
Anyways. She listened to the young Ravenclaw's excuse and nodded slowly. "Riiiight, yeah. Spring's a bitch, huh?" She remarked, before wincing. "Woops, sorry. Spring's bad. Yes." Ah yes, getting older and failing to resist the urge to curse. Rosie was truly a teenager. She moved some curly locks behind her ear and glanced to her bag, managing a smile. "Did you come here to study? I could help and maybe we could talk about what's going on. I'd rather not study myself, anyway." She outstretched a hand to her. "I'm Rosie." She grinned.

Those Quiet Hours
┌───────────────────────────── ∘°❉°∘ ─────────────────────────────┐
└─────────────────────────────°∘❉∘° ─────────────────────────────┘The girl pondered Vivian's excuse of allergies as the cause of her crying in the library, probably deciding whether she was telling the truth. Vivian noticed how the Hufflepuff looked her up and down, most likely realizing how young she was.
And how much more pathetic it is to be found crying when you're that young.
"Riiiight, yeah. Spring's a bitch huh?" Vivian nade no reaction to the sudden surprise of the language, since she had an older brother. Occasionally when he would hurt himself with his usual antics, a few words here and there would tumble out.
She had to suppress a small smile as the fifth-year stumbled over her words, realizing she had cursed and replaced bitch with bad.
"Did you come here to study? I could help and maybe we could talk about what's going on. I'd rather not study myself, anyway." The girl asked Vivian, who blinked in surprise, caught off guard.
Vivian rarely talked about her emotions, even with her family. She was very cautious about unloading onto certain people, since the last time she told something to a friend, they made it their business to tell everyone they knew. Vivian was quite introverted and did not talk to others often.
She pondered this request for a moment. She had no one else to study with, so studying with someone else might be beneficial. For the matter of sharing her thoughts though..
The girl outstretched her hand. "I'm Rosie." Vivian smiled gently and shook her hand.
"Vivian Crowell. I would like to..talk..but maybe we should study first? I always like study before I do anything else," Vivian replied.

Those Quiet Hours
Hey, hehe. Sorry to slyther–in
. Man, bad joke. Sorry.
June 5th – 5:00(ish)pm
It was odd that Georgiana was not reading. Meaning, yes, it was true that she was in the library sitting at one of the tables, and technically she did read, but not as she normally did. This time it wasn't any novels, either wizarding or muggle, although she had titles of both types of literature pending on her list. No, this time George had no choice but to stop procrastinating on her responsibilities and stop and read THAT book: Magical Drafts and Potions, by Arsenius Jigger. Yeah, her guide to Potions, aka her worst nightmare.
To be honest, Gia didn't particularly dislike Potions. Obeying instructions and mixing ingredients in just the right proportion seemed simple, and it was, in practice. But, for some reason (which she would define as Professor Price), Gianna had a particular denial with the subject matter, and when it came to retaining the theory in her mind... well, she didn't do well, no.
So there she was, clutching her head in disgust, rereading the same sentence for the seventh time. Indeed, the little encouragement she had brought at the beginning had completely disappeared; and so it was not uncommon that an insignificant expression managed to distract her from her reading.
"... a bitch, huh?".
Gia turned her eyes away from the yellowed pages and towards where the sound came from. It wasn't new vocabulary to her, not after the number of novels she'd read throughout her life, but it still piqued her curiosity. Was it a fight? If so, she definitely wanted to see it. She abandoned her head-holding posture (without even bothering to close the book), and stood up cautiously. The voice had come from just a couple of shelves over. Gianna moved closer, but soon discovered that it wasn't a fight, it was simple chatter.
"I'm Rosie."
"Vivian Crowell. I would like to..talk..but maybe we should study first? I always like study before I do anything else."
Studying? Well, that was a disappointment. George was about to turn back to her desk when she remembered something. Wait. Vivian Crowell? She knew that name, she was sure of it. Yes, it was another first year girl, from Ravenclaw. Julian had mentioned to her that she was... well, pretty. But that wasn't the point. If she was a Ravenclaw, surely she would know something about Potions, right?
No, no, what was she thinking? That would mean explicitly requiring her help. George wasn't stupid, she could do it alone. Shit, no, she couldn't. No, stop, of course she could. She was a genius, she could do whatever she wanted. Well... maybe she wanted to study with Vivian? She could do without her, that was obvious but she'd rather if she didn't. Gia mulled it over for a moment and nodded, content with tricking her own brain.
She walked toward the hallway where the two girls were standing. She soon ascertained that the one who had introduced herself as 'Rosie' was quite a bit older than Vivian and herself. She looked at Vivian, not directly into her eyes, but rather into the space between them. She looked like she had cried, but it wasn't as if Gianna was going to ask her, she knew the basic concept of privacy. She approached Vivian.
"Uhm, sorry to... interrupt." she started, not really sorry. "But you're Vivian, right? Would you mind helping me with my homework? I've heard you're, hmm, quite smart." she murmured.
Yes, she had used the words 'helping me', but it had only been to get Vivian to come over. She didn't need help. She was intelligent enough.
God, that had been a lousy performance.

┌───────────────────────────── ∘°❉°∘ ─────────────────────────────┐
└─────────────────────────────°∘❉∘° ─────────────────────────────┘Vivian whipped around quickly, her messy hair falling in front of her eyes, having no time to fix it as she was caught off-guard by someone calling her by her name.
She straightened her posture (although she was already standing stick-straight) and smiled softly at the newcomer.
"Uhm, sorry to... interrupt." The person she was assuming was a first-year started. They didn't sound quite sorry, though. Vivian ignored this"But you're Vivian, right? Would you mind helping me with my homework? I've heard you're, hmm, quite smart."
Vivian was startled by this sudden request. It was odd how she had been planning to study with Rosie not even a few moments ago and this person appeared out of nowhere asking to do the same? She was also quite flattered. Had word really gotten around about her intelligence? Vivian knew that she was smart, but she didn't believe she was above average.
She lacked self-esteem, obviously.
She thought carefully about this request. It wouldn't be bad to study with an additional person, and perhaps they would become friends. They could probably teach her something, since she wasn't good at everything. She just prayed the topic would be about something she knew well.
She glanced at Rosie, wondering if she should accept, then turned to the girl..? Vivian did not want to assume anyone's gender from now on, ever since the mishap with Neptune. She pondered for a few moments before replying quickly.
"I don't see why not. I was going to begin studying anyway. I do hope it's about something I'm skilled at," She responded in a light tone, sitting down at the table she had previously been at. "That is, if Rosie wouldn't mind another person with us?" Vivian turned expectantly to her, awaiting her reply.
