A Touch of Home
Logan had always been part of a quite artful family. Her mom was a ballet and ballroom dancing instructor back when she was still around, her dad played numerous instruments along with her older sister, Riley, but with Logan it was something different. Something her parents and relatives couldnt understand, something that made even her family dog turn his head with curiousity.
The salsa. The New York style, the LA style, the salsa cubana. The salsa rueda, the salsa caleña. The precision and the pound of the drum. The latigazo and the caida. The enganche, the freno, and the izquierda. It was all so magical to her. The way you could let yourself go and just become one with the music was so enchanting to Logan.
Her parents never understood when or how she started doing the salsa. all they know is that one day she was completely normal and the next she was twirling and spinning all over the house. They never questioned it, but they both wondered how she was learning this. Logan didn't know either. She had only ever seen a salsa dancer once, and she was just dancing for change in the streets of London. But before her parents knew it, she was saving up all of her allowance to buy the proper shoes, but records and dresses and books on the history of the salsa. It was as if she had found her calling.
Logan makes her way to the record player in the corner of the rehearsal room, something her new friend had introduced her to. She took the dusty record out of her bag and popped it on to the turntable and pressing play. She kicked off her shoes and got ready to practice as the sound of Johnny Pacheco's Agua de Clavelito filled the rom.
