There is ... honour in humility. (Abu Bakr)

There was not many people around on the grounds of Hogwarts, at least as far as Marius Brown's soft brown eyes could see. There were still some, though, and the boy knew he was not alone out there. Perhaps the weather was one of its causes; it was Sunday, but overcast and windy, and the temperature was rather cold in spite of the coming summer. (Marius imagined most students, and teacher, would much prefer to stay in the warm common room.) Or maybe quite a number of third years, as well as those above their grade, were off at Hogsmeade, with potentially a few first and second year pupils attempted to sneak together with them.

The Hufflepuff himself had currently no idea what to do. He still wanted to be out here, but the view was not that beautiful to behold that he thought it was not worth it to climb a tree and sit on its nook or branch. He did not have a book with him, or the notebook he used to record his ideas for stories to work on; and either way, he was not in the mood to read or write.

Maybe I should just climb and try to sleep on a tree nook, he considered. The weather was quite a fit to nap, but there was just one problem. Marius was a light sleeper, and it was not very easy for him to fall asleep in a new place. Besides, the preteen finally decided against it, most likely, my body won't thank me after I do so.

But then, what should he do in such case?

Walking up, Bailey decided, that since she had finished her homework the night before, that she would treat herself to a walk on the lawn. Deciding to go eat breakfast before that, Bailey got dressed. As she pulled on a black tee shirt, some jeans, her black boots and her usually silver ring and earring.
Heading down to breakfast, Bailey swing her bag with a book and her wand, along with her compact bostaff, over her shoulder. The bostaff was just a precaution- and one she had almost needed before. And she was glad she had brought it and had vowed to carry it with them from then on.
At breakfast Bailey treated herself to chocolate waffles with whipped cream and a chocolate sauce, along with a cup of chocolate milk. Bailey rarely ate like this but she felt like she deserved it.
Walking down the lawn she saw a familiar head of brown hair. It was Marius Brown, a friend of hers who ran the Christian Club- that is where they met.
Deciding to go over, Bailey walked up behind him and tapped on his shoulder. As he turned she said “Hello Marius! How have you been? I saw you here and decided to come say hello. Sorry if I’m interrupting something- I can go if I am.”

Alec was sitting out in a grassy area on the grounds, he was with a group of kids he could have cared or less about. Playing a game with the aim of nothing more than to mess about. Pass time. Some younger and some from his own year, he supposed it didn't really matter how they met. As they sat on the grounds playing truth or dare, Alec absentmindedly picked at the grass. Listening to the truths and dares as they came along. Getting up only do his dares, which he picked every time. He preferred stupid and silly actions over fueling rumors and drama, and talking about things he didn't really care about, or offering information that could be used against. Alec had zoned out, absentmindedly watching around his surroundings as another kid picked truth and had instant regret for it. Alec hardly knew what the question had been but he was reasonably frustrated to find the kid saying they were quitting just because you don't want to answer a question. “You can't just chicken out mid-game!” Alec stood up and called as the kid walked off.

Alright. Apparently they could. Alec let out a frustrated groan, the group he hanging out with was small enough as is, eventually it was going to be only Alec sitting there while they are were slowly picked off one by one. Meaning they needed more people, or at least a replacement for the kid who ran off. Alec's eyes scanned the grounds looking around for people who didn't seem busy. Stopping when he saw a girl who didn't seem busy, she was talking to a boy. One extra didn't hurt, besides, what better extra than sherlock? It made perfect sense to Alec. “One second, I'll be right back, I'm gonna get two more people for the game.” Alec spoke to the group, standing up. He brushed any dirt that may have gotten to him from the ground onto his clothes off, and excused himself walking over to the group of two. He figured he'd ask the girl first, Marius would be harder to convince, at least Alec thought so. Alec cleared his throat once he got close enough to make his presence known. “Hey, you two, you don't seem busy. A couple of friends and I are playing truth or dare, want to join?” Alec asked, he glanced back towards where him and his friends his picked to play, pointing over there. “It's a pretty small group and one kid just bailed on us so we're looking for a few more people,”

It wasn't going to be hard convincing the girl meaning he needed to work on Marius a bit. Alec's lips curled into a smile as he locked eyes with Marius. “Unless of course you're too scared,” Alec folded his arms across his chest. “I trust Sherlock here isn't, right?” Alec asked, his eyes moved from Marius to the girl. “He's done some pretty gutsy things in the past. Set your expectations high.” He paused for a moment before his eyes widened in surprise. “Oh right- introductions. I don't believe we've met before. You can call me Alec,” Marius was around, Alec may as well go out of his way to change the introduction Marius made comments for. Alec had quickly decided he was never doing it again because ew how dare you do this Marius saying 'Alec' just feels so incomplete.

As she was chatting with @Marius Brown a boy approached them. He seemingly knew Marius, and he invited them to play truth or dare, saying someone just ditched him and his friends and they needed a few more people to play.
Bailey smiled at him and then turned to Marius. She didn’t mind, and she said “I don’t mind. It actually sounds like fun! Are you in Marius?”
The other boy then introduced himself as Alec. @Alec Mason
Baileys stuck her hand out for him to shake if he wanted as she smiled and introduced herself, saying “My name is Bailey. Bailey glade! I am a second year Ravenclaw; and you are?”
Now that Bailey had a chance to look at him further, Bailey noticed that Alec had pale skin that looked like ivory, slightly tanned. He also had blue eyes, chestnut brown hair that was messy. His nails also showed signs of recently being painted, and that reminded Bailey of one of her friends from her dojo. Realizing that she was zoning out, Bailey snapped back into reality and waited for one of the boys to speak. They seemed to know each other, from the way they had been bantering back and forth, and it might not be one of Marius’ closest friends, from the words that had been spoken.

Marius turned his head as he heard someone call him. Turned out it was Bailey Glade, a Ravenclaw he knew from a mutual extracurricular club. She asked how he was doing, to which Marius replied, "Nothing much, Bailey! As a matter of fact, I'm still trying to decide what to do. Are you going to read or draw outdoor?" His eyes trailed to the bag she carried. Sure it could be filled with textbooks and parchments, but somehow his intuition told him no.

As the two were still conversing, suddenly an older boy came and invited both of them for a game of Truth or Dare. Marius recognised the teenager immediately, it was Alec Mason of Gryffindor, or Professor Moriarty as Marius preferred to call him. The boys had not had the best first encounter, but secretly the Hufflepuff still considered the third year rather cool.

Was he sincere with his offer, though? Could this be just a trap he set to humiliate the first year?

Yet, when he addressed the younger boy as Sherlock, Marius could not help but taking this challenge. It may be a trap, but certainly Marius Brown would be able to avoid it last minute. He would have the last laugh as Moriarty's victorious sneer changed so fast into eyes full of disbelief and a twisted, pouting mouth. He would not say it, but secretly he enjoyed being called Sherlock and calling this boy Moriarty; it all seemed like an action-mystery story come true.

"At your service," he replied coolly as he gave Alec a slight bow. "Challenge accepted, Professor Moriarty. I'm in." But he addressed the last two words to Bailey, so he smiled at the second year before looking back at Alec, this time with fire in his brown eyes and a defying smile on his lips.

It was easy, easier than expected. Bailey seemed excited to join and Alec wasn't as surprised there. She seemed nice enough, and luckily when it came to introductions she had done a little filling in of the lines. Finishing up introductions with house, year and a handshake, amazing. At least one of them was doing it. Alec reached out and took her hand, shaking it was a firm yet gentle handshake, finishing up the introductions as he let go, “Third year, Gryffindor, it's a pleasure to meet you,” It was. They needed at least one more person to join, she was guaranteed

Alec was unsure where Marius stood, if he'd actually be interested, he was reasonably surprised when he heard the words 'Challenge accepted' coming out of Marius's mouth. Alec had only been saying things to egg Marius on, not offering up much of a real challenge, but alright, go off king. The most important thing was that it was a yes, as long as the whole challenge accepted nonsense got Marius to join, Alec could have cared or less. Hold up... Was Bailey staring at him? He'd noticed it out of the corner of his eye but he hadn't wanted to confirm it until it was for sure. She was definitely staring, right? Why...? Alec blinked and his face flushed, he rubbed the back of his neck in a caught off-guard awkward way. And now she wasn't, good, okay. “Right, um, this way,” with a 'follow me' gesture, Alec turned around and away from the two Alec lead the two down to the circle. “Take a free seat wherever” Alec spoke to the two, then took a seat in his original spot. Alec crossed his legs before looking over the two.

Of course they could go back to the game they'd been playing, but it didn't seem fair. Not when Bailey nor Marius didn't have a fair shot at being picked because they were new and unknown. A way to integrate them... “Two new people, Sherlock in the blue shirt, and Glade in the black,” he pointed to them, to make it super clear, no need to have a cause for misunderstandings, and names were always helpful. “Since they're new I figure we should give them a chance,” Alec closed his eyes and pointed to one of the two at 'random' “Sherlock, pick a person, say truth or dare, pretty sure you know how the game works.” Integrating them like that, simple enough.

The Hufflepuff gave each and every participant (well, all right, except for Bailey and Alec Moriarty since he was not introduced to the two) a polite smile and a slight bow. To be honest, he was slightly surprised that the third year welcomed him to immediately give out a challenge. Well, the Gryffindor said that it was to let new participants have a chance. All right then, that's fair.

Alec's words gave him an idea: he would pick his fellow new participant, Bailey Glade. However, in that very moment, he could not make a good challenge in just a split of second. His first thought, as a curious preteen, was to give the Ravenclaw a "truth" instead of a "dare". But that was just it: no specific question came to his mind. Besides, he did not want to potentially embarrass the second year in front of strangers by asking something too personal; she was a good acquaintance, he would like to get to know her better and become friends instead of enemies or awkward acquaintances.

Not wanting to make the others wait, Marius took a deep breath and asked the best question he could make up in less than twenty second, "Bailey Glade, what is the most Ravenclaw trait you have, according to yourself?"

As Alec reached out and shook her hand, sparing her the humiliation of having to take her hand back without shaking anyone’s hand. Smiling at him, Bailey was happy with the turn her day was taking.
Sitting down when Alex invited her and Marius to, Bailey waited for further instructions.
When Alec told Marius, or “Sherlock” as Alec called him to pick a person to ask truth or dare, Bailey couldn’t decide if she wanted to be picked or not.
Marius made that choice for her, as he asked "Bailey Glade, what is the most Ravenclaw trait you have, according to yourself?"
This made her think- What is my most Ravenclaw Trait? I mean… I do like studying, I love getting homework done early and I still go over the top … but… I think my most… ahh I don’t know!
Deciding to quit putting it off, Bailey smiled and said, “Well… I have to say my intelligence or my being an overachiever. Take your pick- honestly I would have a better answer if I had a few days to deliberate!” Bailey laughed a little at that, knowing exactly how Ravenclaw that was of her.

Smiling, she turned to Alec then asking, “Is it my turn next? Or are we going in a circle? I really don’t care, just wondering..”
A pause.
“That’s another trait- my unstoppable curiosity. I can NEVER stop asking questions…. No matter how hard I try!”
She laughed again, then settling into a companionable silence, waiting for someone else to speak.
Alec spoke up, saying that it was her turn. Smiling, Bailey asked Alec “Ok then- truth or dare?”
He answered “dare”, so Bailey smiled and responded “Ok then- tomorrow, I want you to wear all of your clothes backwards, with no explanation. And… when someone asks why or tells you, acts surprised, but don’t fix it!”
Satisfied, Bailey waited for Alec’s response, knowing that it was an odd but good dare.

Truths were such a boring fickle thing, Alec hadn't started a game of truth or dare to listen to random truth's. No offense to Bailey, she seemed nice enough, Alec was invested and interested in her answer. Even if Sherlock was going be annoying stereotypes that made Alec want to chuck his insides out and abandon all he had eaten for breakfast. He hated stereotypes like house traits. It annoyed him to far beyond a point of normal annoyance, those who didn't understand the harm it could cause always played along innocently. Bailey mentioned being an intelligent overachiever, that it would have been easier to pick had she had more than a few minutes to deliberate on it. She was smiling when she turned to Alec, asking a question. He wondered if she was unfamiliar with the game, or unfamiliar with the way in which they were playing it. “Oh, It's your turn next, pick anybody you'd like.” Alec answered quickly with a hum. He had a song stuck in his head now. The random lyrics that popped up from time to time. Another Weird Sisters track.

Bailey paused, seeming to be taking in the information Alec had provided and also wanting to add more to the truth she had answered. Unstoppable curiosity, saying she never stopped asking questions. It was cute, asking questions was always a good thing. Part of it did remind him of the way in which his little sister had, as a toddler, asked many a question the Gryffindor had been unable to answer. All too obscure for his realm of knowledge.

She stopped to ask Alec truth or dare, he didn't have to think about what he was going to say before the words had escaped from his lips. “Dare,” he chuckled at hearing the dare Bailey had in store for him, smirking he nodded. “I'll borrow one of my friends camera's to send you a picture. I'll write to you about it as even more proof, considering it's the fact it's not a dare I'm completing today.” That and they weren't in the same year, it was almost impossible for her to see him around, it seemed to be the only way to get substantial evidence out and maybe even take the chance to keep in contact with her after.

Alec turned her head glancing towards Sherlock, Marius. Sherlock was complicated. Just as complicated and confusing as Alec was. It may as well have been the only thing the two had in common. Complicated, the two were never able to make sense, both arrogant and prideful beings, would either admit to it being their downfall? Likely no. Sherlock was interesting, to Alec he wasn't interesting as in someone Alec simply wanted to get to know, Sherlock was a strange specimen for Alec to inspect, to test, to write down the reactions of, Alec wanted to study Sherlock as if he were a foreign creature Alec had never seen before. Marius was a person you have to get to know more because their different, a specimen of life so incredibly otherworldly to you. Alec tilted his head as he overlooked the other, “truth or dare?” Alec asked, his smirk widened when he heard the word Marius would eventually regret to utter out of his mouth.

Sherlock had chosen dare. Despite being nicknamed Sherlock, it turned out Sherlock wasn't sharpest tool in the shed. It was a shame, Sherlock really should have known better, he knew who he was working with here. “I dare you to hang from a window ledge.” There was no way the other would do it. No way would be crazy enough to accept it. It was perfect.

Perhaps it was merely his imagination, but the moment Alec finished delivering his dare, Marius felt that he was able to hear a fly creep on a window pane or a needle drop to the floor; it was as if everyone had grown quiet.

It was Bailey's voice that sent him back to reality. "Don't do it, Marius," the Ravenclaw tried to advise. "Never mind the dare, it's just a game. It isn't fair to perform such a dangerous dare."

Her words were wise, and Marius knew it, but they fell on deaf ears. "I must do it, Bailey," he stubbornly told her as well as anyone else who would listen (to his stupid argument). "I must defend my honour, it is now at stake. Either I'll success, or I'll perish trying. There is no such thing as chickening out in my dictionary."

The Hufflepuff's face turned pale, but his soft brown eyes determinedly rest on a nearby window ledge. Suddenly, the boy no longer stood on the Hogwarts grounds; he was running, feet carrying him as fast as they could to reach for said window ledge - in to the castle, on the stairs, through a door, and finally he dangled on the ledge. Of course, he made sure that Alec Moriarty saw what he was doing.

There! Thought I'm too afraid to do this, or that I can't? You'd better think twice before messing up with me!

Those were the words he wanted to shout at the Gryffindor, and he definitely would have, if only his had not lost hold.

Gravity won easily, and there was nothing Marius Brown could do but close his eyes when his body hit the ground. He could not even let out a scream; the preteen felt all the wind had been knocked out of his lungs that he would not be able to let out a whisper.

Permission to have Bailey Glade advising Marius given.
