My parents had finally agreed to let me go to a muggle camp, Camp James! I am going with my best friend, Athena. We are going to have so much fun! We get to do all the fun muggle camp activities! I’m super excited for archery, horseback riding, crafts, swimming and more! Athena and I will get to spend all summer at camp.
I packed all of the essentials and had my parents fix up some of my school books to look like muggle books so I could read. I also tucked some of my summer homework into a big jornal. The hard part was finding some quills, because no muggles use them. I took a few quills and hid them in a bag of fancy muggle pens. They told me to be super careful with all my Hogwarts stuff so no muggles found them.
First we would get a tour of the camp and then introduce themselves to their cabin. Then they would sign up for activities they wanted to do.
We arrived at camp and I looked around for my best friend Athena. I spotted her speed-walking straight at me.
“Hi Athena! Are you ready for the best summer ever?”
I asked.

Athena nodded excitedly and she started bouncing around like she had ants in her pants.
“This is gonna be the best. Summer. Ever. I just cannot wait another second!” Athena began jogging in place as she did when she was excited. She hoped her parents would keep her school supplies tidy because she did not bring them with her to camp. Her parents had given her two options. One, she could bring her homework to camp and do it in secret. Or two, she could finish all of her homework before and after camp. She had chosen option two, and it was a miracle she was still running, for she had stayed up two nights in a row working on the homework assignments.
“Cara Smalley, Athena McClenin?” The girls heard and they realized that everyone was standing with there groups, other than them. Athena flushed bright red and whispered to Cara.
“They must have been calling our names when we were talking! Sorry, cmon let’s head over.” Athena jogged over to the five or six other girls in their group, excluding the three leaders.
“Let’s start with introductions now that everyone is here,” she shot Athena and Cara a look before continuing, “I’m Amelia and I’m the leader of the blue cabin!”

After we found our cabin the introductions began.
“I’m Amelia and I’m the leader of the blue cabin!”
Amelia shot a look at another girl who was older than us, who had black, grayish white hair, which was obviously dyed.
“Hello! My name is Charlie and I’m a co-leader!”
A short girl with brown hair and glasses stood up.
“Hi! I’m Zara and I’m the other co-leader!”
Amelia, who had finished tying her wavy red hair back into a ponytail, began speaking again.
“Alright ladies, find someone you don’t know and share with them. Here are some ideas of what to share, your favorite color, your family life, like who you live with, and if you have any pets, your favorite food and your favorite flavor of ice cream.”
I panicked a bit because I have never had ice cream before. Going to camp as a pretend muggle is harder than I thought.
“Hey Athena, if you have never had ice cream before, just say you are allergic. Also muggles don’t have owls as pets so…” Cara whispered to Athena.

Athena gasped softly.
“You’ve never had ice cream?! Wow we’ve got to catch you up.”Athena sighed and rolled her eyes. She walked over to another girl with black hair.
“Hey, I’m Athena.” She extended a hand calmly and the other girl took it, shaking it delicately.
“I’m Emma, nice to meet you.” Emma dropped Athena’s hand and Athena continued.
“I’m an only child and I live with my mum and dad about an hour away from here.” She explained, leaving out how there house was filled with magical items.
“I live with my aunt. Or I call her my aunt at least. I was left on her doorstep, like in some weird movie.” Emma crossed her arms in front of her and Athena nodded.
“My family doesn’t own any pets.” Not normal ones at least. She was sure if she said she had two pet owls the other girl would think she was strange. “What about you?”
“We have a golden retriever dog.”Emma glanced around and saw the other campers already finishing up their conversations. “And I like strawberry ice cream.”
“Yum. I prefer super man ice cream.”
Athena hastily said a goodbye too Emma and looked around for Cara again.

I walked over to a red head, who had on black glasses.
“Hi! I’m Cara!” I said as I stuck out my hand. She shook back.
“Hi, I’m Graci,” she said quietly.
“I have two brothers and their names are Justin and Parker. I live with my mum and dad, and we live pretty close to here.”
“I live with my mum and dad, and I have 3 younger sisters and 2 younger brothers.” She said.
“Wow! And I thought 2 younger brothers was hard.”
“Yeah. At least I have my own room.” She replied.
“We don’t have any pets, but I think having a cat would be cool.”
“We have one cat named Galaxy because she is black and we have 6 fish, one for each sibling.
“Nice! I love fruity flavors of ice cream, but my parents never let me have any.”
“I LOVE rocky road ice cream!”
We said goodbye- which was more like a see ya later because we were in the same cabin. Athena pulled me over and we stood next to each other, while the cabin leader gave directions.
“Ok ladies! Now that you know one more person than before we will be moving in to our cabin. Grab your bags please!” Amelia said, projecting her voice loudly.

Athena grabbed her bag and followed the cabin leaders. They soon arrived at a cluster of ten cabins and Athena’s arms were beginning to hurt from carrying her heavy trunk. None the less she followed until they came to an abrupt stop. She set her trunk down on the gravel path and wiped the sweat away that had beaded on her forehead.
“Here’s the girls cabins where you’ll be staying through the summer. Follow us too our cabin. It’s the third one to the left.” Amelia said and Athena prepared for the final stretch to the cabin. She picked up her trunk and lugged it into the surprisingly clean cabin.
“Go and claim a bunk!”
Athena rushed too one in the middle and shot warning looks to anyone who got too close. Soon Cara had gotten to the bunk bed.
“Do you want the top bunk or the bottom bunk?” Athena didn’t really mind, but she did kind of want the bottom bunk. Once the two girls had gone to a three day camp and Athena had claimed the bottom bunk, and she hoped that Cara would remember that instance. “I have no preference.”

We all went in the cabin, which was smaller than I expected. I saw Athena guarding a bunk for us. Athena asked if I wanted top or bottom and I immediately thought bottom. But I knew Athena would want bottom too. I looked over at two girls who were fighting over the top bunk.
“I want the top bunk!”
“No! I want the top bunk!”
I looked over at Athena who was also watching them fight.
“Hey listen. What if you,” I said as I pointed at the shorter of the two, who I would later learn her name was Cora,
“Have the top bunk and you,” I continued, as I pointed at the other one who I would learn her name was Sophie, “Have the top bunk on this bed. That way you’ll be right next to each other and me and my friend will be next to each other on the bottom bunks, which we want.”
We all agreed on that solution and began unpacking. Unpacking without my wand was really sad because well, it’s SO slow. Athena also felt my pain, as we unpacked our clothes in our share drawers. The drawers had dividers so they divided in half so one person gets 1/2 of the top drawer and the other gets the other 1/2. On the top drawer I put all of my books and notebooks- including the school work disguised as muggle items. The next drawer I put shirts in the next, pants/ shorts in the next, pjs and underclothes in the 2nd to last. In the final drawer I put miscellaneous items like toiletries and my laundry bag for when they wash our clothes.

Athena quickly and gratefully agreed to the new arrangement and set her large trunk on the bed. Time to unpack. She opened it up and a few socks came rolling onto the floor, to her annoyance. She looked at the 5 drawers, then at her stuff and decided she would put shirts and shorts in the top, under garments in the second, toiletries in the third, shoes in the fourth, and books in the last. It made for a good arrangement and she stepped back to admire the neat, organized drawers. She knew it wouldn’t stay that way for long, and she wanted to savor it while it lasted. She was NOT the most organized person. Not usually at least.
“Come and sit in a circle over here and we’ll introduce ourselves to each other. I’ll introduce myself again. I am Charlie and I’m one of your co’s.” Charlie said and Athena did her best to remember the name. You can go ahead. She pointed at the other co-leader.
“Hi, Hola, Hallo, I’m Zara your other fabulous co and so yeah.”
Charlie randomly pointed her finger and it ended up on Cara this time. “go ahead-?” Charlie said, waiting for a response.
“and you can pick who goes next.”

We all sat in a circle, and shared our names. Charlie, one of our co leaders went first. Then Zara, our other co leader went next. Zara pointed at me, so I went.
“Hi, I’m Cara… and umm… I’m super exited!” I pointed at the shorter girl who I had solved the bunk bed problem with.
“Ummm, Hi, I’m Cora, and I am super exited for the craft tent!” Cora pointed at Sophie, who appeared to be her friend.
“Hi! I’m Sophie and I LOVE horses!” Sophie pointed at Emma.
“Hey, I’m Emma and I want to learn survival skills while we’re here!” Emma pointed at Graci who was the only one left.
“Hello! I’m Graci! It’s spelled with an I at the end not an e. I also have like 1,000 siblings, just kidding! I only came here to get away from them. My biggest pet peeve is probably annoying siblings…”
“Ok Graci that’s enough.”Charlie interrupted. “Your turn!” She said as she pointed at Athena.
