The quote says: "There is nothing so magical as the surprise of being loved. It is God's finger on man's shoulder." - Charles Morgan and this is what AF said to him: Simon, between our laughs, long walks, silly disagreements, and inside jokes, I fell in love. YOU saved my year here...and you saved me. IWhen word was announced that morning just before breakfast that the Hufflepuff Yearbook copies were now available in the Shelves, AngelFyre immediately shot a glance over at Simon. When their eyes met, he just smiled his devastating, melts-her-heart-everytime-smile and looked very pleased with himself. She shot up from the table and ran over to him. "Did you have anything to do with that? Is that why you have essentially been a missing person these last few weeks? You know, I half expected to see your handsome face on a milk carton one of these mornings," and she laughed a little. His reply came by way of and even broader smile, if that was humanly possible, and he pulled his personal copy off of his lap and handed it up to her. She only got the chance to give it the briefest of glimpses as she needed to head out for her morning dueling practice, but she asked him if she could borrow his quill. He reached for his satchel and retrieved it and then he handed it to her.
As he was getting the quill, she flipped to one of the empty pages in the back. At the top of the page she wrote![]()

and drew a rectangle that took up only half the page. She had considered taking the whole page, but she knew she needed to leave room for others to share their thoughts with Mr. Hufflepuff of the year.
Confident that she had securely carved enough space so that she could sign it later, she handed it back to him along with his quill. "It looks fabulous, Simon. I am so proud of you, love. I have to go to practice, but I want to sign it later and look it over more thoroughly." As she started to walk away, an impish thought struck her. Really not caring who may see it in the moment, she ran back to him and leaned down and kissed him on his cheek, leaving a very discernible lipstick print there. And then she laughed merrily.
"Looks like I signed you before your Yearbook."

Later that evening when he once again had time for their study session, he turned over his yearbook to her upon request. She noted immediately that she was wise to have carved out her space because in one day his book was already crowded with well wishes and signatures from front to back. She settled in next him while he read what ever it was he was going to read and she turned to her reserved space and began to write. She started with a quote and then she attached a photo that she knew would hold meaning for him with double-stick tape before finishing up with a few lines of her own.
When she was finished, she closed it and just held it, thinking yet again what a marvelous boy Simon Ezra Kincaid really was.
The magic is real.
