Slytherin House Cup Party
TIME: June 7, 2018 || 8:17 PM
The last month was spectacular for the Slytherin house, and had ultimately ended up in them winning the House Cup. It was a surprise to Leonie, considering it was a very close call between her house and Gryffindor, but she was glad her students were competent enough to do something right. Even if it's as pointless as winning house points. So in celebration, herself, Fainauriel the Potions professor, and Thurston the Astronomy professor planned out a special event, just for their students. It was planned out thoroughly, which is why it took a few days to initiate, but they were there now.
On the edge of the Great Lake stood Leonie and the two other professors, facing the castle. The students had yet to arrive, but when they did they would be lead by their prefects to the water's edge. It would definitely be different from what the woman had heard about the Gryffindor House Cup party, but she was sure it would be enjoyable. After all, the rowboats where only put to use at the beginning of the year, and only for first years. Being on the water would be an experience, one that Leonie personally favoured.
Behind the professors were at least two dozen row boats, with enough room for two people per boat. In the middle of each boat was an unlit lantern that was enchanted to float in the water without fail once lit. It would be a beautiful sight, one that Leonie had insisted upon. For even though she seemed cold and heartless, she definitely had an eye for beauty. She had already decided upon forcing the female prefect, Bella Hills, to ride in her boat with her, not finding a taste for much anyone else's company. She eyed the school, watching for the students exiting.

Slytherin House Cup Party
Syrah did enjoy, on the occasion, gatherings and parties. She did not have many like these when she was still living at home, besides the occasional Ministry of Magic dinner party or ball her father attended with her and her mother. She preferred smaller parties, but still large enough that she could dissolve into the background if she so wished. And so this House Cup party of Slytherin was at perfect capacity.
What made it even better was that the party was to be held on the Great Lake. She heard the students would be taking rowboats out into water. Despite that fact that this, however, meant that Syrah could not escape if situation called for it, the idea of experiencing the lake first hand excited her more. This would be perfect, since she was about to hold the very first Magical Aquatic Animal Exploration Club meeting in the next few days. Maybe she could see or learn something tonight that would be useful going forward with the club.
She dressed casually this night. A floor length black skirt with white floral designs, and a long sleeved plain black shirt with a white scarf around her neck. It was light enough that she would not get hot, but warm enough to protect herself from the cold water that might splash over into her boat, or the wind that might sweep across the lake.
She followed the Slytherin's new female prefect, Bella, out of the Common Room and Castle and onto the grounds towards the lake. She walked alone, allowing herself time to look at the grounds at this time of night, something she was mostly unable to do because of curfew. The castle and the land surrounding it was beautiful and she was extraordinarily excited to see this. As her gaze follwed the moonlit, dew touched, grass towards the lake she almost gasped in wonder. The rowboats were sitting silently and frozen on the edge of the lake, half upon the ground for easy boarding, and at their tips was an unlit lantern for each, somewhat hovering over the boat, not attached by anything solid. Magic was certainly gorgeous, especially in these settings.
The water of the Great Lake itself, was still. Not a single ripple from a fallen leaf or moving animal underneath. The moon, near full, reflected perfectly in the deeply black surface, a few clouds in its light mirrored as well. It was almost as if the sky had descended here, and instead of a body of water, it was simply the heavens resting on the ground.
As the group of Slytherin reached the boats, Syrha listned as she was instructed to enter one. She chose one a bit to the side, knowing the ones in the middle would quickly be fought over and filled. The small boats were remarkably steady and as she stepped into hers, it did not move or rock an inch. She sighed to herself for a moment. Because, out of the two availible spots, Syrah was the first to fill one. Which, of course, meant she would have to take the spot in the back of the boat. She would have preferred the front... Well... Maybe she could still have it.
So instead she stayed seated near the lantern at the tip of her rowboat. However joined her would have to step over her a bit, but it shouldn't be too hard. Maybe, she thought, her placement would deter others from joining this particular group and she would somehow end up with a boat of her own.

Slytherin House Cup Party
Charles was not one for parties. So when he heard about the slytherin House cup party he was reluctant to go to it. He would rather have stayed back in the dorm and plotted and studied and did anything else but go to the house cup party. But for reasons unknown he decided to follow the other Slytherin students along with their house perfect to the grounds in hopes that once he saw what was being planned he could bail and head back to the common rooms. But when he looked for what he assumed would be a party he found only boats and the students were slowly making their way towards them and getting in them. So he follow them down to the shoreline and formed a line with the other students as each got into a boat two per boat. But being the rebel he was he stepped out of line and found a boat that had one person in it already.
He did not know the girls name but smiled at her as he made his way onto the boat and towards the back of the boat as the front of the boat was already occupied by the girl which was fine by him he loved being in the back anyway.. He folded his arms across his chest and waited to see what the professors had planned for this house cup party. A part of him hoped it would be fun, Another part hoped it would be something that he could escape from and head back to the common room. He would hate it for be another pointless ball started by a muggle born professor who believed those were proper for students time.
He closed his eyes and waited for whatever this was to start. Why were they in boats anyway.. Was this going to be something on the lake and if so what is on the lake that would make a good place for a house cup party. There were no islands on it that he was aware of anyway. He guessed he needed to be patient and wait to see what awaited them.

Slytherin House Cup Party
They had won the House Cup! Edric had watched them beat Gryffindor with a good amount of glee, as the gutted faces of his brothers had definitely made all the effort he'd put into his studies worth it.
All of the students seemed to be in a festive mood today, though that had less to do with the actual cup than with the party that was set to take place this evening. So far Edric had only been to a ball at Hogwarts, and the outdoor activity they were set to do appealed a lot more to him than standing there in his good dress robes and watch the older students flaunt their flashy dresses and sleek muggle suits. He didn't even like dancing and had disliked the overly sweet food.
Now however they were escorted down to the Great Lake, where he could see their Head of House standing beside the Potions and Astronomy Professors in front of the water. The boats they had used to cross the lake on their first day of school lay still in the water of the shore. So they would row out on the lake? A grin spread on his face.
This was his kind of thing. He knew more about the sky than the sea, but even in Wales they had their lakes and he could swim well enough. Thankfully he was also dressed for the occasion. The warm weather of late spring had allowed him to wear only a white linen shirt and a pair of buckskin pants under his cloak. The dragonhide boots would keep his feet dry and free of scratches from whatever lived in the lake.
He carefully stopped in front of one of the boats that were obviously made for two people each and let his gaze travel over the assembled students. He saw Marcia standing in-between the other first years, looking pale and wide-eyed.
"Marcia, here," he called and waved her over.

Slytherin House Cup Party
When she had heard that their Head of House and some of the other professors would plan a special surprise for all of Slytherin for winning the house cup, Marcia couldn't have been more excited. She had collected a few points herself and was proud to have been playing her part in winning.
To be out on the grounds after curfew was exciting and Marcia breathed the warm night air while she followed the other students of her house. They were led by their prefects, one int he front, one behind them in the back. As if we get lost, she thought rolling her eyes and took a look over her shoulder to see the castle. She had seen it once before glimmering through hundreds of windows in the night. It was the day she had arrived, although she had stuck her head between her legs for the most part, while they had to take the trip over the Lake.
She stumbled over a rock and cursed under her breath for not paying attention. Fortunately, she had chosen sturdy shoes, so she didn't turn her ankle too hard. Her robe hung loosely around her shoulder, covering her blouse, but she considered to take it off and wrap it around her waist; depending on what the teachers had in store for them.
She almost didn't pay attention where they headed and just followed when she smelled mouldy air as if she was near wet compost. Her feet lost their energy and she slowly came to a halt, her eyes fixed at the three teachers and at what was behind them. Under normal circumstances, she maybe would have appreciated the view of docents of swimming lights, but she already felt her sight blackening.
Her hands were shaking and she needed to avert her eyes, facing the shining castle high above them, instead of the boats. It was no coincidence that their teachers stood in front of these swimming coffins. Surely they expected them to climb into the boats, which would bring them over the Lake to knows Merlin where. She wouldn't do that, she couldn't do that.
Almost everyone had passed her by now, so she stood almost alone with her robe wrapped around her as if it was a protective shield. Her knees were trembling while she risked another peek and the boats and she watched with horror how the first found their way into them.
She heard someone call her name, but she was frozen on the spot, tears in her eyes. She didn't want to be left out, but the thought of sitting in one of the boats, surrounded by nothing but water, made her wish to crawl into the grass right here, right now.
Once again someone called her name, and now she saw Edric waving at her with a big smile on his face, which made her eyes even tearier. She didn't want to disappoint him, but the water ... she couldn't. She hid her face with her hands and crouched down, unable to make any step forward or back.

Slytherin House Cup Party
Isabella had almost cried when Slytherin won the house cup. She felt hugely responsible for her house, and she would of been devasted if they had lost. She was really excited when her head of house announced a party to celebrate.
"Slytherins, this way!" She called to the group behind her. She was curious as to what the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor had in store, she had only been told to bring her fellow Slytherins down to the lake.
Her mouth dropped open in surprise when she reached the lake. The boats that they had first crossed the lake in were there. Her face broke out into a smile as she caught on to what they were doing. She had enjoyed crossing the lake enormously, and had hoped she'd be able to do it again.
She looked around for someone to share a boat with. After a brief sweep of the crowd she saw that most people already had someone they were sharing with, some had even already entered the boats. Panic was starting to rise inside her. 'Calm down.' She thought to herself. 'Its not the end of the world.' She relaxed slightly at the thought. She didn't need to stress over it. In the end she would have someone to sit with, even if they were complete strangers.
She stood off to the side, making up her mind to wait until everyone had entered the boats and then just sit wherever was free. Maybe she would be able to make a new friend, part of her job was to make friends with students after all.

Slytherin House Cup Party
Kyden led his group of Slytherin's down to the Great Lake. He was thrilled that they had won the House Cup. It was something that he didn't think they would accomplish. Truthfully it had come as a shock to him. He shook his head slightly noticing people already scrambling into boats. He couldn't quite fathom why they would all scramble for the boats without exact directions from Professor Scheinburg. After all everyone knew how dangerous the lake could be.
He finally reached the Professors and smiled at them before turning away. He stood around like some of the other students and waited for further instructions. Kyden was extremely excited to go out on the lake. He was opening they would see the Giant Squid. After seeing him from afar so many times Kyden was dying for a close up. Of course he hoped that some merpeople came up enough so he could catch a glimpse.
Kyden wasn't sure what this celebration would entail but he knew that it was going to be quite interesting and he was looking forward to it. He breathed a heavy sigh of release when he say that Charles, his dorm mate that he wasn't so sure about, was already in a boat. This meant that Kyden wasn't going to be paired up with him and wouldn't be stuck in an even smaller space than their dorm with him.

Slytherin House Cup Party
Aravis followed the prefects down to the great lake slowly towards the back of the group. She was extremely happy that Slytherin had won the House Cup. She knew they could do it, after all it wasn't tough competetion to her. The house cup didn't mean much to her but it was nice to know they had it. Hopefully they could keep it for the rest of the year. Aravis knew that it was unlikely but it was a nice goal.
When Aravis saw the unlit lanterns and the boats she internally screamed. She did not want to deal with water anymore than she had to. She was terrified of water. She sighed staring at it. Everyone else was boarding the boats. She didn't want to look afraid so she boarded an empty boat.
She started shaking slightly as she stepped in. Last time she had been in water other than we she had first arrived at Hogwarts her Aunt had almost drowned her insisting that she would learn to swim underwater. Ever since the black haired girl had been terrified of deep water. She stopped her shaking and wobbling as she sat down in the boat waiting on another person to enter. She almost wished no one would sit with her so she could mumble how much she hated water to herself. For some reason she felt that talking to herself about her problems would make it better.

Slytherin House Cup Party
A tall, willowy shadow remained near the back of the gathering of green-and-silvered students, seeming to try to melt into the shadows every opportunity that he wasn't being guided by a prefect. He knew he probably should have just given in and stayed home, but a combination of curiosity and obligation had drawn him out here to the lake. After all, his house had won, and it might be fun to celebrate with the other members of it. Socialize, make friends, all of that stuff.
Only problem was, he was cripplingly shy, and convinced that everyone secretly hated him, or would as soon as they caught sight of the darkness he kept so carefully hidden inside.
But then, wasn't this supposed to be the dark house? All the other students certainly seemed to think so, all the other banded colours usually belonging to students who would cast him odd looks, give him wide berths in the hallway. So maybe the other Slytherins would understand, know better.
So, he scuttled out to the marshy beach, where tiny rowboats were being loaded up with students, two to a boat. He hadn't really gotten that well in with any particular member of his own house, so he supposed he'd just, wait by the boats like they were picking teams for cricket, inevitably be the last one left over that some other poor sap would be saddled with. This he did, looking vaguely wraithlike as he lingered by the beach, the wide brim of his pointed hat helpfully sheltering his face from what he was sure was a thousand staring eyes.

Slytherin House Cup Party
Not even Maisy, for all her nerves and uncertainties over her House, could turn down the idea of a party. It was all very exciting... Slytherin's win, the mysterious nature of the surprise... As she followed their Prefect the great distance from dungeon to lake, the thrilling feeling of anticipation built in her until she felt as if she might burst.
Of course, it would only have been better if Eevee were able to come. Through the crowd she couldn't tell if there were any other familiar faces, but knowing no Ravenclaws were in attendance put ever the slightest damper on the evening.
Still... A damper to a girl like Maisy, who seemed unfettered by nature, wasn't much of anything at all. At the shoreline, she peered around shoulders and through rows and rows of black robes to see the boats and lanterns. Unbidden, her heart gave a throb. It wasn't what she expected in the slightest, and bouncing from the tips of her toes to her heels, she did her best to contain her joy.
Her sister Mary, who for six solid months of her life watched nothing but the movie Tangled, would absolutely pop from envy when Maisy told her....
Plopping down flat onto her soles again, she chewed absently on the edge of her thumbnail and waited with what was undoubtedly fragile patience for their Head of House to announce what came next.
