History.

History could either be repeated or allow individuals to grow and develop into the future. There was a biblical saying of never look back behind you. Yet, we all do. We look behind to our past and feel emotions of happiness, regret, remorse, frustration, excitement... Luckily none of us turns into a pillar of salt as a result of our historical curiosities.

One can open a book and get a blast from the past. Perhaps even watch a movie that is based in a historical era. Or even more so, listen to music that defines a culture. But every now and again, there's a special way to make history and that is by leaving something behind for our future selves to look back on.

Standing in the middle of the courtyard, Maya, with shovel in hand, had dug a hole in the ground. It was not too deep, but enough to bury what looked like a large pill. Maya had laying next to her an open capsule. This was perhaps one of the most exciting parts of being a muggle. It was sharing a piece of history with the community. Although a muggle construct, it was not something muggles had done often. So to bring this to Hogwarts, and even more so, to magical folk who have never done such a thing before excited Maya.

"Good morning," she called out to the bunches of students who were circling around the large hole in the ground. "Today we are making history; our own history. An event muggles would do is to leave something behind-- something that represents who you are-- and within 10 years, when you are all adults in our Wizarding World, we will open the capsule and remind ourselves of who we were." Maya paused and gripped her shovel tight.

"Choose one item that represents you and place it in this capsule. It must be something small as anything bigger will take too much space for others to participate." Maya opened the capsule on the floor, the pill-like metal structure opened up and was ready to eat anything that was placed inside.

"No questions are asked for what you choose to place inside," Maya added, making sure that students knew they were not being judged for what they wanted to place inside the capsule. Granted, she would not judge, but who knew if their peers were going to themselves. Maya waited by the capsule and watched as students placed inside their item that represents who they are.

It was June first, the start of the month. Quinn was taking a walk to the court yard. Wearing what you normally see her were, Her robes with a patch that showed she was in the slytherin house.

There was a large group of people. Quinn was minding her own business, When she had heard someone shout, She was one of the professors. She said that there was some muggle thing, Where you bury things into the ground and open it ten years later. The part that had really caught Quinn's attention was that you were to bring something that represents you.

Quinn was a pure blood but grew up with muggles. So she had know some of these things. What she didn't know was what represented her. She was a lot of things, but what show who she was? 'I can bring something that shows in in the slytherin house, or something that shows my love of books'

She didn't know exactly what to bring, So she sat down in the grass to think. 'Can I bring something that sows I'm a Metamorphmagus?' she thought. If anyone looked at her they could definitely tell she was thinking hard about this.

Beatrice was sure, what with the large crowd that the capsule would be filled in moments. She'd heard of the event done in the muggle world.

Her Grandpa had made Bea and her little sister do one when they were younger. It was still buried in the veggie patch down in Yorkshire. Her Gran tended it with love and care, even erecting a fence for the small plot so didn't plant or rip it up. They had both promised not to open it until they reach maturity, Gran deciding that was 17, or adulthood. Bea had scrunched her nose then, and still did now. Really, waiting so long? It felt horrible.

The Professor's idea had the same feeling. In some way she was curious as to what she would be when she was an adult. She hoped it was something to do with animals and plants. She couldn't dream of being stuck doing something she hated.

Gripping the letter in her hand, Bea bit her lip nervously. The line for the capsule was still pretty long and as the seconds ticked by, the foolish feeling in her stomach grew bigger and bigger. Really, a letter? What was that going to show? The Professor had stated previously that a letter would be a good thing to put in. Sometimes words are louder than you think. That was what Nan always said. And written words were just the same as spoken ones, right?

With a final glance around, she darted for the grass alongside the edge of the courtyard. Another first year, whom she hadn't met was there. They seemed deep in thought. This 'fun' task somehow seemed more of a challenge. It was hard picking something that represented you!

Smiling at them, she sat near them, opening the letter to scan it and make sure it was okay.
Dear me,

I am writing this in the year 2022, as a first year Claw. I've been debating on what to put in this letter, as Professor Galim (Muggle Studies) said it must represent who I am now.

Really I hope that you are having fun, especially with all your friends and animals! My dream is to be a magizoologist or if that doesn't work, at least work with animals. I hope you've made it.

I hope Ella isn't giving you grief! She is a terrible bother to me! I am so happy that she is still at home and I am at Hogwarts. I dread the day she gets to come!

I hope Gran and Nan are okay. This task reminds me of the time capsule I did with Grandpa. You'll have dug it up! I hope it is good as I remember! Nan keeps sending me cherry rock candy. Does she keep giving you it? What a silly question! You can't tell me, you're future me haha!

Right now, I've made a couple of friends. Hilda, Michael and Skraele are my most important. Are you still friends with them? (Again you can't answer me haha)

Anyways,
All the best Future Me,

Love eleven year old Bea

Reading and rereading the letter, Bea was happy with it. A few things she would change here and there, but if she kept overthinking it, she would stress herself out too much. Which she was already doing. Trying to distract herself, she looked at the other person, hoping they didn't think she was being rude. "Fit are ye goin' ta put in the capsule?" As she awaited a response, she smoothed the letter down her leg, over her skirt. Perhaps it would straighten out the tight-gripped crinkles...

A yawn escaped his lips.

Kim almost stumbled into a wall as he made his way down towards the courtyard.

He was wearing a black t-shirt, a pair of white shorts and sandals. Yes, he'd completely forgotten to get changed into his school robes. Thankfully, this wasn't a class, therefore he didn't need to do so. But before classes started at 9AM, he'd need to go back to the dorms and dress appropriately. Kim looked disheveled but also quite perfect, it was a strange thing to look like both at the same time. Once again, the boy's hair color had changed for the month.

This time it was blond, a more normal color for most people.

He's wearing a simple snake-chain necklace (not in the picture) and a pair of rhinestone earrings shaped in 2 Cs back to back, crossing together. They were a present from his bestie back at home, Charles/Charlie, Eun-ji's current fiance.

Kim had dyed it the night beforehand, so that it had time to soak into his hair. After all, he was still using the muggle dye he'd brought with him. He really was looking forward to second year when they all learned the color spells. It would save so much time and money for him to just be able to use a spell to gain the same effect. Sure, the hands-on work was fun to do, but not every time. Kim approached the courtyard, trying not to end up beaning himself.

But at this early hour, anything was possible. This was the time where his clumsiness came into play, something he tried to not let anyone see. It was why he fit into the Clumsy Club and part of the reason as to why he'd originally joined it, before he was given control of the actual club itself out of nowhere. He rubbed his eyes, trying to remove the sleep crusties. Kim had heard from Bailey that a new errand had just started and as such he couldn't miss taking part.

Thankfully, it was outside.

The problem that had arisen for him before probably would not have a repeat performance.

Upon arriving at his destination, Kim almost ran his head into part of the doorway as he moved through the arch before him. He blinked and shook his head a little, attempting to clear the fog from his mind. As his vision cleared, he noticed a professor he didn't recognize. Who was she? As the woman spoke, Kim made an educated guess. She was talking about muggle things, so was this the Muggle Artifacts professor? Obviously, she was in charge here.

But he didn't know her name. Kim had heard it before but couldn't quite remember at this early hour. After Bailey had told him about the nature of the errand via owl, he'd tried to decide on what item to bring with him. Puffie had tried to help too, squeaking and rolling around the room. He'd even bounced onto his lap and looked up at him, trying to nuzzle his way into Kim's stomach. Eventually, Kim had decided upon something to take to the errand.

But it didn't represent him.

It just represented something that was important to him, which was just as good he thought.

He'd taken the time to draw a picture of his friends and those who meant the most to him now. Within the painting were Sophia, Precious, Sage, Bailey, Pax, Regina, Eun-ji, Hana, Galahad, Avery and Noah. Eleven. It was Libra's lucky number and also those he felt the closest to. Kim scrawled his signature at the bottom of the professional-looking sketch done by him. He also wrote a title, naming it My Friends. The quill hovered over the word a little.

Friends. Could he really trust them? That thought was always present inside his mind, despite how much he tried to believe in them. But when almost all of your previous friends had betrayed you in the past, why wouldn't you be paranoid about any new friends you might make? Only Charles had always been there and had never betrayed him. But there had been many who had sought to be friends with him before just to obtain the benefits of being one.

He'd tried to banish his worried thoughts.

It wasn't as if that kind of thing would happen again in this place.

He'd taken extra caution to hopefully squash that from happening to him again. By not saying his last name, maybe he could avoid people approaching him for connections.

The second picture he'd drawn had included Colin, Evelynn, Simon, Nia, Ari, Taizu, Hui, Quinn and Faye. With Professor Irons, Professor Zoe, Professor Wade, Professor Stube drawn into the background behind the students. He'd titled this one, Those who matter.... A third picture had been drawn too, this one of himself and Puffie sitting on his shoulder and looking up at him. It was a sketch that had made the boy smile when he'd drawn it back then.

And that was it. Or it should have been. Before he knew it he had a fourth picture drawn. Of Stalker. Or rather Felix. Kim had drawn it perfectly and with great detail, down to the blemishes on his skin. He couldn't help but let his eyes linger on the boy who lived inside his mind's eye. Ever since the Ball, Kim had started to feel differently about him. Stalker was too harsh a word, wasn't it? Yes, he should change how he thought about him, if he could that is.

After all, hadn't they grown a bit closer?

Even if it was all inside his head and the Hufflepuff didn't feel the same way...

Kim decided he would believe that they had grown just a tad bit closer. Not enough so that he'd refer to him by his name. But definitely have a softer nickname for him. What should it be? Something that represented him and what he tended to do. Stalker... Hunter! A hunter tended to track down things too. And the word didn't have so many negative meanings, not like Stalker did. Alright, it was decided, he'd refer to Stalker by the new name. Hunter it was.

He scrawled a title for this picture down too. This one was My pretty but really rude boy.

Back to the present time.

Kim clutched the glass jar with the 4 rolled-up drawings he'd done that he'd stuffed into it. The jar was small and so were the 4 drawings he'd done. It wouldn't take up much space at all. He stepped over to the capsule as soon as the others who had gathered there had done so. And placed his jar into the device. It settled into the space comfortably and allowed a lot of room for others to put their things into it too. Kim took a step back and glanced around him.

No one would look, right?

Quinn was thinking hard, very hard on what to include in the capsule. She heard someone speak, She looked at the one who had talked to her. "Huh? Oh where you talking to me?" admittedly Quinn wasn't paying attention to her soundings.

Quinn realized that she must have said something about the capsule. "yeah, I have no clue what to put in their....umm my names Quinn Root," Quinn awkwardly smiled at the girl. Hoping that she hid the fact the she had no clue what the girl had said to her.

Quinn looked around the courtyard, She saw Kim. He looked like he knew what he was doing. Quinn didn't bother him with her not knowing what to put in. Instead her eyes met the letter that the girl had in her lap. It was a good idea. its small, you can write what represents you instead of finding one thing. Quinn looked at her. "Is that what your putting in the capsule?! That is a brilliant idea!" Quinn told her with a smile.

It wasn't any lie, the only downside to writing a letter was that it may decompose. That's what Quinn thought, She didn't know how long it would take for the parchment to decompose. Neither dose her author Quinn could write everything that she was feeling onto it, then it gets buried into the ground for ten years!

What an exciting year to start at Hogwarts, Mireia thought. With the Hexiwizard tournament going on, the first year it's been brought back since the age of Harry Potter. And now this, a time capsule for the school! This was a one time thing and then the caspule will be sealed and opened in 10 years! By that time Mireia will be well into her career of... Well whatever she decides on, and an entire new generation of witches and wizards will be at the school. Normally, she would figure, that the Professors would be the ones to decide and place what will stay in the time capsule, but Hogwarts was always surprising her. Apparently, any and all students were allowed to put something that they wanted to into the capsule. Something that meant something to them, personally, rather than something that meant something to the school as a whole.

Mireia, though, while the urge was strong to put a personal belonging into the time capsule to represent herself the best, she also thought that it was important to blend the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry into her item as well. It was staying on school grounds after all. Plus, what would her personal item tell the future students of Hogwarts about? Nothing probably. She wanted them to be able to learn about this time in the schools history too.

The students had a few days from the announcement of the capsule to gather their items before the capsule was closed and placed into the ground and Mireia had been thinking hard about what would represent her, but also the school. The idea came to her while she was resting on the grass on the grounds one early evening as she waiting for her Astronomy class to begin after dinner. She had many hours of course, as Astronomy did not start until 10pm and dinner was done by 7 at the latest usually. The the moon was large and reflected upon the black lake and lit the grounds well enough for her witchy eyes to see.

She lay on the grass, feeling it itch on her bare skin of her amrs and legs. Her fingers wound through the grass as it struggled to point towards the sky. Grass was not the only plant that grew on the grounds and she felt a non-grass stem between her fingera. Pulling her fingers up to her face, she also pulled the stem from the ground to peer at it. It was a dandelion, a common 'weed', although Mireia, of course, knew it was more than just a weed. But then the idea came to her. What if she collected a variety of plants that grew on the grounds and near the lake of Hogwarts and dried them into a bundle. Then she could place the bundle inside the caspule with a small descriptive note. This way in 10 years the students of Hogwarts would be able to see exactly what kind of flora grew at this time in history, and maybe compare it to what would currently be growing. Maybe the landscape or climate of Hogwarts would change in that time and they would be able to see the differences.

Mireia thought that was a splendid and brilliant idea, and so with her time before class she rounded the ground, picking only the best example of plants she could find. From dandelions growing in the grass, to reeds that grew along the bank of the great lake, she soon had a beautiful bundle of herbs and plants that formed a gorgeous bouquet of life.

She had to dry the bundle, of course, and so she tied the stems with a bit of twine and the tied the bundle to a hook that was mounted hear her bed in the Booted Eagle dormitory. Thankfully, the dorm had good air flow, and so it did not take terribly long, perhaps a day or two, to dry the bundle enough for encapsulation.

Mireia was extremely excited about this addition to the time capsule, and she wrote her discriptive note with care. She had done some research at the library, as there were a few plants she had picked that she could not personally identify. So in her note that she would roll and attach to the twine tying the bouquet, she did her best to identify each plant, so that the future students would be able to tell them apart. Then she wrote a little request that they create their own bundle to compare the ecosystem of Hogwarts of ten years prior with the current system.

When June 1st rolled around, Mireia waited until most other students had placed their items into the capsule. She wanted to be one of the last to place because her item was very fragile. Any pressure that was placed on her plants would ruin them. So she wanted to place it on top to ensure as much as she could that that bundle would stay intact.

As she walked up to the capsule she made her final checks, making sure the note was attached well to the strong and that the strong was tightly tied so the bundle would not fall apart. Then she carefully placed the bouquet into the capsule, near the top, and it was done!

Sophia was excited today. It wasn't very often she could do something 'normal' or 'muggle-like' at Hogwarts. She'd learned so many things at school, sure. The Umbrella Charm, the Wand-Lighting Charm, the Sleeping Draught. All these things were so wonderful to Sophia, but they were also unfamiliar to her previously muggle mind. But this? A time capsule? Even she knew how that worked. She would wager there were muggle kids doing the same thing even now!

But what should she put in it? There wasn't a lot that she found represented her sufficiently, but one thing did come to mind. Her personal study Bible. The book was worn and the pages old, after years and years of study and worship, but she could always buy a new Bible. This was a chance to leave an impression of who she was for future generations of Catholic witches to learn that, yes, they're not alone. Other Catholics were just as faithful as them, and even attended Hogwarts. It was also a chance for her to look back in ten years and smile fondly at the memories she'd undoubtedly have by then with her friends.

Mind made up, Sophia gave the book one last look before she took it to the courtyard. Her name was written in neat handwriting on the first page, but there was something missing. She took one of her muggle pens from her trunk and wrote in a bit more that she never would have dared to write if she was taking this Bible home to Ireland.

This Bible belongs to: Sophia Maria Nelson

1st year Ravenclaw
There. She'd need more information on it, since she wouldn't be there in ten years to open the capsule. The future students of Hogwarts would be there. By then she would be a fully-grown adult. She'd probably have a new bible, maybe a job - in Potion-making or something? - and she'd be closer than ever to her friends.

Her friends! She needed a letter about her friends! She could slip it into the front of her Bible! She got a fresh piece of parchment and began to write, without thinking ahead more than a few words:

To whom it may concern,

My name is Sophia Maria Nelson. I'm a first year at Hogwarts. I was always a muggle and so was my family, but when I was ten, I found out I was going to be a witch. It was very exciting, but very scary. The magic is super hard, but I'm learning. I'm pretty good at Potions, though.

The most important thing about Hogwarts, I think, is the friends. I've made some amazing ones, more than I can fit in this letter, but a few stand out.

Sage is my number one best friend. We met on the Hogwarts Express. She's really kind and just the cutest thing, despite her height. She's very protective over those she cares about, but she's going to be an amazing witch. She's always very calm and very dignified, and, to be honest, I want to be just like her when I grow up.

Kim is probably tied with Sage, but he's absolutely one of my best friends too. I don't know what I'd do without him. He knows something about almost everything. I can ask him any question, and he almost always has an answer. He's very strong, and very handsome, but he hides his feelings away behind a lazy mask. He's been opening up more lately, and I love him so much.

Gem is something else. I met her after I'd already met Sage and Kim, but there was this feeling. It was like we just clicked. She's a bookworm, and she's very creative. She looks like one of those old dolls from the scary movies. The cute ones, that is. But there's so much more under that. She's like a comforting presence, able to cheer me up even on the darkest days, and something about her makes me want to share every bit of joy I can with her. I just want to see her smile as happily as she's made me. We had a bit of a rough page recently, but I think it's going to be fine.

Last, I have to mention Amelia. I love Sage, Kim, and Gem so much, but Amelia is like a sister to me. She's my pet owl, but I don't like using the word pet. She's so precious to me that I can't stress it enough. I love her so, so much, and I would do anything for her. Amelia has been there for me ever since we met, and I know I can always count on her to have my back.

I guess what I'm trying to get at in this letter is that the most important thing about Hogwarts is to cherish your friends! Classes and exams and stuff will work out on their own!

Good luck in 2032,

-Sophia
There. It was a bit personal, but kids in the future could learn just how important friends were to those at Hogwarts, and she could look back to remember how happy she was to be at Hogwarts. She folded the parchment and stuffed it into the Bible, so that it was only hanging out a little. She found an old hairband and wrapped it around the Bible to keep it closed.

Now, she could make her way to the courtyard to bury it. As soon as she stepped outside, Amelia flew from her shoulder to the skies. It was fine. As long as Kim didn't see them together, the prank would be okay.

Her eyes were on Amelia flying as she carried her old Bible to the courtyard. The air was fresh, and the sun was warm. It was such a nice day. The professor of Muggle Studies was in the center of the courtyard with a shovel and a big pile of dirt beside her. Why'd she dig the hole with a shovel? Wasn't there a spell for it? It didn't matter, either way, but Sophia smiled fondly at the muggle-like preparation. It felt like she wasn't such an outsider compared to some of the pureblooded students.

She approached the capsule and carefully placed the Bible into the container. Stepping back, she grinned. This was so exciting. Who knew what she'd be like in ten years? She could be married, a successful apothecary, a nun, or who knows what else! As she kept stepping back to make room for more students to place their items, she bumped into someone. Turning around, she smiled fondly at Kim.

"Hey Kim," she said with a smile, "Isn't this awesome?"

There was an awful lot going on lately. Life at Hogwarts was always busy, but it felt lately to AngelFyre as if she were caught up in an end of the year maelstrom taking place all around her. There were exams coming up in a matter of a couple of weeks, and studying for those was taking priority right now. There were parties, errands, and little end of the year get togethers taking place. And there was packing. So much packing.

Getting all of her things home for summer was going to take some planning. She would never have thought it possible, but she had quite a lot more stuff now than she had shown up with at the start of the year. As she was carefully beginning to pack it all away, just a little each day so as to not have it feel too overwhelming, she discovered so much of it made her smile. There were so many mementos and treasured items from Simon, of course; lots of photos of the two of them together thanks to the wizarding camera he had given her for her birthday. There was the photo book, and notes and cards and sketches, and one of her very most favorite things ever, the sketch of the wolf and the dove he had drawn and given her, also on her birthday. She took a deep breath and smiled, and then caught herself traipsing too far down memory lane. Truthfully, it was not so much that she was going too far down memory lane so much as it was that she was traveling too far down a feeder lane. If that feeder lane had an official street name, it would be something like "Simon Street" or "Kincaid Avenue" or maybe even "Best Boyfriend Boulevard".

The task before her now, however, was not packing. She was actually having to unpack some things as she searched for a particular item. The Muggle Studies professor, Maya Galim, had posted an Errand which required her to think about who she, AngelFyre Afton McCubbin, was as a person. Then she was to pick one item that would best express who she was to others unknown to her as it would be included in a time capsule. The time capsule was going to be buried in the Courtyard and it would be dug up by the Hogwarts student body 10 years from now. It was a very thought provoking exercise, and one she had actually put quite a lot of thought into since learning of it.

People are complex and the idea of synthesizing themselves down to one idea or belief or feeling is impossible, but she finally arrived at a happy solution. The thing that AngelFyre felt most strongly about herself was that she was, first, foremost, and always, a child of God. She had no extra copies of a Bible to leave in the time capsule, and it would be simply unthinkable to part with her own Bible. Like Simon's Bible, hers was lovingly tabbed, and highlighted, and there were personal notes in the margins. She had even done some art journaling on pages that especially moved her. It was a gift from Grandma Ruth to her on the day she was born, and it was covered in burgundy leather with her name embossed in gold lettering. No, that would definitely be staying with her. But what she did have was a painted rock she had done one lazy Sunday after she and Simon had done their worship study, and it was that rock she was trying to get to at the moment.

When she found it, it occurred to her that she should probably include a note of some kind to go along with it. Her bed was now covered in all the things she had unpacked to get to the rock, so she just grabbed her quill and blue ink and some parchment and sat right down on the floor with her back against her tall canopy bed. Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, she wrote the following:

01 June, 2022

Greetings to those reading this in 2032!

As I write this, I am finishing my first year as a Hufflepuff. It was a year of many ups and downs, but I am surprised to report that it ended with the scale tipping quite heavily in favor of the ups. For any other first years who, like me, came to Hogwarts as a Muggle-born, try not to let yourself get too overwhelmed. Everything is so different here and you will feel confused and disoriented for a good long while. Do not let that worry you. It is completely natural. I discovered that even the students who grew up with magic were caught off guard by some things about Hogwarts, so relax and just do your best.

Things go much easier here if you find at least one good friend to share the experiences with along the way. Friends can help get you through most anything here, and in life in general, so if you are shy or an introvert, consider this a golden opportunity to change that about yourself if it is something you have wanted to change. This is a brand new start for you, so start being the person you want to be. Most people will not know you, so you can leave all of your baggage behind which is very freeing.

We were asked to leave an item in the capsule that expresses who we are, and I chose this rock I painted a month or so ago. Image posted by the member I am a Christian and the message is something I strive to be in my own life, both for myself and for others. It puts me in mind of the biblical quote:

'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven'. -- Matthew 5:16

Hogwarts can be a dark and scary and lonely place at times, so believe you have it in you to be the light and you will soon find that you are.

Finally, I like that the particular canvas for this was a rock as Jesus is my Rock; He grounds me. When things go wrong, and they will, there is no getting around it, my first line of defense is my rock... my faith.

I have no idea if how I want to convey myself to the world is accurately portrayed in this rock or not, but part of the beauty of it is that it is as aspirational as much as it is a command. In the end, I guess it really is not for me to say how accurate it is. It is only for me to continue to strive each day to be the light.

God's blessings and peace upon you all,

AngelFyre McCubbin

With her letter complete, she placed it in a little cardboard box and put the rock on top of it. She tied some twine around it to keep the lid on and made quite a lovely bow if she said so herself... and she did.

Gathering everything together, she started her trek to the Courtyard, hoping to maybe find Simon there or any of her other friends. She wondered whether the things being put in were to be a secret or if everyone on this end of the capsule would get to know what was being included.

Nothing like a little mystery to help quicken her step.

Beatrice smiled, nodding at the girl's question, although she looked slightly confused. Bea got that. It was probably the strong Scottish accent. "Yeah! Me name's Beatrice. Beatrice Langstreth." She rubbed more at the letter in her hand. The parchment was becoming slightly soft now, due to the time Bea had spent holding it.

"A had no idea fit to put in. A thoct a letter would be guid." To be honest, trying to pick another object, a single one, was slightly terrifying. What if she chose wrong, or it wasn't really what represented her? The anxiousness from those thoughts made her feel slightly ill. A letter, she resolved would be better. She was free to express her thoughts and feelings to her hearts content, although admittedly, this letter was quite short. Letters to Nan were much longer.

Feeling validated at the girl's exclamation, Beatrice turned back to the letter, eyeing it. "Mebbe ye could write one? The Professor wadna mind." Really, Bea thought the Professor liked that letters were written. Surely it would be good to read them all again when the students were older. She stifled a giggle at that. All the students wrinkling their noses in thought, trying to remember why they had placed objects in the capsule, as she read her letter.

Eun-ji wasn’t too keen on participating in social events this year but this one caught her eye almost immediately. She did bury a time capsule with her grandparents once before but that one was most likely irrevocably lost. The old pair was adamant about burying it in their backyard, which was now completely covered in rubble. It was truly heart-breaking but at the same time, it was the least significant loss she suffered there. Well…I suppose this is a good opportunity to make a new memory. She sighed looking at the object in her hands. It was an old pointe shoe. The witch took just one in order to not occupy too much space in the capsule.

The ballet shoe was incredibly worn out and could be bent all the way so it wouldn’t need much room in the case. Eun-ji made sure to clean it well before bringing it here but the fabric was simply beyond saving. Sure, she could fix it with a quick spell but that was not something she ever did. Pointe shoes were meant to be broken. You were meant to dance in them until there were holes in it and the sole could no longer support you. Some may think it sad but the Ravenclaw found it rather poetic. She didn’t bring anything else with her but she did write a little message for herself too. Using a black marker she had written on the shoe satin fabric for her future self:

'Some dreams get out of our reach and some dreams fade away. This does not meant they die, they are simply making space for a new one. One that will stick with you until the end. I hope you have found it by now Lee Eun-ji. I really hope you did.'

The Ravenclaw wasn't stupid. She knew her time as a ballerina was running out. She tried to forget it but it would probably become more apparent once she returned home and joined the other girls for practice. Last time, she was still able to keep up with them however they were properly preparing for their careers now. Looking for schools and ballet companies to employ them in the future. Eun-ji wanted to do that too. Even now as she was learning magic of all things, some little part of her still wanted to do that. Alas, it was simply not meant to be.

As she walked, the raven-haired witch watched the other kids hanging around. All holding onto their little treasures. She only recognised Kim but then, he was talking to one of his friends and Eun-ji didn't want to bond with anyone new. She knew enough. The young girl was a fellow Ravenclaw and a member of the cooking club. Sophia was her name, wasn’t it? She was on the duelling wait list too. Perhaps they would get more acquainted eventually but Eun-ji had no desire to actively go and make it happen. It was better that way. Nodding at Kim in greeting (if he saw her) the girl continued her journey towards the capsule.

“Good Morning Professor Galim. Thank you for doing this.” She smiled at the beautiful woman. She wasn’t taking her class but she knew who she was nonetheless. Eun-ji always made sure to know all the Professors by name. Looking back at her weary pointe shoe, she sighed once again before placing it into the container. “There…you worked hard, rest now….you deserve it.” The witch whispered as if talking to an old friend. It was not far off though. As bizarre as it sounded, they did spend a great deal of time together. Perhaps more than she did with her actual friends. Probably seen a bigger variety of emotions from her as well. Thank God, shoes could not talk.
