Quinn was thinking about her classes as she made her way to the Great lake. It was one of her favorite places at Hogwarts. She was coming to do some of her homework, she had to do it. Because it was due tomorrow. She also had a package that came from home.

She had the brown package under her right arm, her bag hung from her right shoulder. She was making her way the lake. When she reached the lake she looked around to find somewhere the was quiet, or at least not crowded.

Quinn found a place that was not very crowded, it was quiet enough. She went and sat down, as she sat down she placed her bag at her side and her package in her lap. 'I wonder what did my parents send?' she thought as she read what the package said. 'We got something! - mum and dad'

'well no duh,' she let out a small laugh. And opened up the package that her parents had sent her. Inside she found some more ink, and a quite a bit of dark chocolate. When she saw the chocolate her face broke into a smile. "Thanks" she said out loud.

Hunter took some peaceful breathes as his back was pressed against a tree close to the bank of the Great lake. He had fallen asleep once again due to the tired nature he felt every day from keeping tabs on other students and having a constant feeling of caution on his back. He tended to feel worn out often, but it wasn't always noticeable. He kept to himself and rarely spoke with other students just because of how tired he was. Sleep was bliss, and he sat there quietly keeping to himself with his arms against his sides. One could also take notice of his journal by his side, something he rarely let out of his sight. This was one of the rare few times Hunter had his guard down.

Suddenly, he awoke from his nap and immediately clutched his journal, a loud voice could be heard from not too far away and Hunter felt a jolt of annoyance and fear. The fear was from the fact that his location of solitude wasn't as empty as he had hoped, and the annoyance was from being awoken from his nap. He honestly wished he could get more sleep some days, but he wasn't going to let it bother him too much. He sat up and looked over to where he could have sworn he heard someone's voice. He approached and muttered beneath his breath wondering why another student was out here by the Great lake. He eventually saw the culprit and gave a slight tilt to his head due to unfamiliarity with who he was looking at.

A girl of short brown hair and stature, but oddly familiar as well. Hunter gave it some thought, and he recalled the girl's name was Quinn. He kept his distance and decided to take out his journal and flip through the pages for a bit. Eventually, he found a small section that had mentioned someone named "Quinn Root." The writing had a small basic description of Quinn but oddly had some parts crossed out. Specifically, Hunter had crossed out some sections describing Quinn's eye color, and he never had a definite answer from the observations he made during classes. His confusion eventually explained the side note he had within the journal. Apparently, a rumor had gone by that Quinn was a metamorphmagus, and Hunter took quick note of this in his journal before. It would explain why he couldn't determine eye color, but a rumor is a rumor; Hunter preferred facts.

'There was only one way to find out', he thought while rubbing his eyes to make sure he wasn't still feeling drowsy. Journal and a muggle pen in hand, he began to approach Quinn in curiosity since Hunter never really met a metamorphmagus before. He's read information about them, but their rarity didn't always present the most detailed of information in books. Eventually, he reached Quinn and stood above her with a curious look, "Ms. Root, correct? Quite a loud lass you are. What is a metamorphmagus like you doing here?" Those were the words to escape from Hunter's mouth. He debated how to start a conversation and confirm a rumor at the same time. Well, the best way is to just make the rumor sound true. Calling Quinn a metamorphmagus may have been rather blunt and straight to the point, but it was the quickest way to get results.

Quinn immediately went for the dark chocolate, As it was her favorite kind of chocolate. She had put a piece into her mouth when a boy came over. He came over to Quinn with a confused look and asked her what a Metamorphmagus was doing here. She quickly finished eating her piece of chocolate. "Ms. Root?" that had caught her off guard, no one had called her by her last name. It was odd, she decided she did not like it. So she told the boy her first name. "Yes I'm Quinn Root.. I'm here simply to learn magic" She told him, not confirming his statement as well as not denying it.

'he sure was blunt about it' she thought looking at the boy. Quinn ate some more of her chocolate. "you seam to know my name, Care to tell me yours?" she asked. By the look of the boy he was most likely in his first year. Quinn was most likely taller then him, he was just standing up and she was sitting down. Quinn looked around the grounds the wasn't that many people out, it was a quiet day. 'I just wanted to do my homework, and now I have to talk to someone about the rumor' she thought.

Hunter felt a little surprised by Quinn's response since she hadn't denied his claim that she was a metamorphmagus. Hunter placed his hand beneath his chin feeling curious as to whether Quinn really was a metamorphmagus or not. Even if she said she was, could Hunter trust her words? Besides that, Hunter also wanted to try and test a few things with Quinn since he never met a metamorphmagus before. From Quinn's slight statement of simply wanting to learn magic and that her race as a metamorphmagus was a rumor, then he concluded that perhaps the girl didn't exactly like or want to share such information. Asking her to change her appearance was most likely not gonna occur is what Hunter decided to conclude. "My name is a bit irrelevant," Hunter didn't exactly want to share much about himself with Quinn during their small moment. Hunter could feel himself itching on wanting to know what a metamorphmagus was capable of and he wanted to try and learn what he could from Quinn. Yet, how could he convince the girl to comply and answer questions in a sort of interrogation?

His eyes shifted around and eventually fell upon the package in Quinn's lap. Hunter didn't give a devious smile as some would, but he rather just kept a mundane look that appeared as if it were lacking interest. Hunter wasn't feeling like his usual self or at least the usual way he portrayed himself with other students. He always had an undying yield to know more. If he wanted to understand or test something, then he would do it... even if a few issues were to occur. He reached beneath his robes and said, "Well magic is fun to learn. Ever heard of the levitation charm?" Hunter slowly unsheathed his wand and even dusted it a little. He then proceeded to state the correct incantation with the proper wand movement for the levitation charm. He lifted Quinn's package towards the air rather high up: "I'm actually doing some studying myself at the moment. Tell me, if I were to drop this package into the great lake then would you be able to turn your feet into fins? Or better yet, are you able to grow actual and workable gills? I understand that a metamorphmagus can change appearance, but can they also change the functions in their body?" Hunter's eyes didn't shift away from Quinn, he kept his eyes close to her in case she did anything he found irrational. He also wanted to take into account an emotional outburst. He had read those strong emotions could cause a metamorphmagus to lose control of their abilities for brief moments. By the end of today he was going to try and get answers out of Quinn and confirm the rumor on what she really was: "I must ask you that you please don't get up or try to pull out your wand. I'll drop the package and its contents the moment I feel something is off. I'm not a bad person... I just wanna test a few magical theories is all. This way, we both can learn something." Hunter gave a slight smile to Quinn to perhaps ease her nerves, but who knows what will occur during this whole event.

He placed his hand under his chin, thinking about what to do. He did not tell her his name. That did disappoint Quinn, quite a bit. How was she going to refer to him? She followed his eyes to her care package, it appeared the he was not interested. By now she was nervous, And held the package closer to herself.

"I have heard of that charm. Why do you ask?" Doing her best to keep her voice steady. He grabbed his wand and used the spell, levitating the package. Needless to say she was not expecting that. It was up high, she couldn't reach it from where she was right now.

He said he was studying, then asked multiple questions. They seemed to be genuine questions. Along with what was a challenge to grow the package into the lake. She sighed "I know that they can't change to get an animal features, so they wouldn't be able to gills." She told him.

He then told her that if she got up, or grabbed her wand, the package would be in the lake. With an added 'I'm not a bad person... I just want to test a few magical theories' She looked at the package still in the air, thinking about the chocolate and ink that was inside. She then looked at the lake, she could swim. But how far would he throw it in? Would she be able to get to it fast enough? His slight smile didn't help.

This was probably one of the only times she wanted a perfect to show up, they would probably know what to do. Considering her options again. She had a few, one, tell him and and any questions he has, two, make an attempt to grab the package from him, three, try and use a spell on him, or four, sit there and wait it out.

She decided to attempt to stall for some more time to think, "I believe that its fine if I ask a few questions. " she took a breath. "Why are you so curious? You said you where studying, I do believe that most. If not all of the information can be found in books." She looked him dead in the eye, waiting for his response.

No rash action, no complaining, just simple questioning with a calm demeanor. This was a rather new reaction Hunter wasn't anticipating from another student. Most were either anxious or filled with rage from Hunter's conniving actions. Still, though, he wasn't going to relax or let his guard down, if anything Hunter considered Quinn's behavior odd and that only cause him to feel a bit tenser in the mind: "Students read recipes of potions, but still fail to brew them correctly. You can read as much knowledge as you want, but real intellect comes from experience." This was the word choice Hunter chose to answer part of Quinn's question. He was mostly concentrating on keeping her box afloat but decided to let it rest against a branch high above before continuing to answer them. A few seconds passed, but eventually, Hunter secured the box leaning against a tree while sitting upon a branch.

He turned his gaze back at Quinn, inspecting her from a distance with a strong look of curiosity. Should he tell her the truth, part of the truth, or just a completely made-up lie? He added up his decisions, trying to figure out what would be best. Hunter noticed she was looking at him dead in the eye, and he shifted his tinted glasses and moved his eyes to avoid direct eye contact with her. Since she was being compliant, he decided to use some truth, "Simple, metamorphmagus aren't common and I thought it is best to meet one up close." A simple answer, but Hunter presumed it may not have been enough since he was using just tactics and questions. Clearly, there was more to the story, "Well, also for cautionary reasons too."

Hunter always kept tabs on certain students, and he recorded what he could. Anything that could relate to strengths, weaknesses, personalities, and current relationships. He had paranoia that some students were out to get him, and he didn't know who to trust. He trusted very few people and his journal was proof of it. He took out his journal and began to write a bit, "Hmmm, so even if you developed claws and such, it wouldn't help you climb up this tree and retrieve your box? Or you couldn't develop dragon scales to protect yourself from magic?" Of course, some of the things Hunter was asking could easily be answered by books, but he had to be sure. After all, did Quinn even know how powerful her ability was? If anything, Hunter saw her as possibly dangerous. He most likely came out here to know how to deal with those he thought were dangerous.

After a bit more writing, he placed his journal back inside his robes. He took out his wand, but this time it was directly pointing at Quinn, "I accept your words, but a demonstration is more convincing. If I cast a fire spell, are you able to prevent its scorching effects with reptilian scales?"

His words were true. You learn things better from experience. She took her eyes off him to follow the box, he put it it the tree. She took a deep breath, getting angry wouldn't be the best thing in this situation. Again she looked at him in the eyes, trying to stay calm. Wondering why he wouldn't just go and find someone who shows there ability. Maybe he just didn't know any other?

Quinn could tell he was avoiding direct eye contact. The answer to her next question was confusing, at least the last part. He took out a journal and was scribbling some notes down. She really had no clue what to think.. This boy was weird. He basically asked the same question as before, well as Quinn saw it. "No, no claws to climb trees, and no Dragon scales to protect form magic." She explained to him.

He wrote some more, and pulled out his wand, Quinn hoped that this interaction was over. And that he was going to grab her package. Seeing as she had been told not to grab hers. But no. He did not point it at the box, he did not point it at the tree. He thought it would be smart to point it at Quinn.

He 'accepted' her words? If he did would he be pointing his want at her threatening a spell. Now she was nervous, wouldn't everyone? If a wand was being pointed at you. She couldn't help but grad her own. Grabbing it as she spoke. "No, scales." she had her hand tightly griped on her wand. Awaiting whatever may come, Would he follow through what he said? And throw the package in the lake? Or use a fire spell? Maybe it was all a bluff.

No claws, no scales, no nothing. Honestly, this sort of interrogation of questioning wasn't getting Hunter anywhere. Or at least he would think that at first. If Quinn was a metamorphmagus like she said, then everything she said was so far true. It would mean her ability was closer to illusion than the actual power of gaining the abilities of another beast. Important information that Hunter took quick note of. However, there was still one issue. That was if Quinn was telling the truth, and Hunter still couldn't base everything on another person's words; especially since Quinn was acting in a way that Hunter thought was odd.

He gave it some thought, and the information he had gathered was rather important. If anything, an average metamorphmagus could be easily dealt with like any other student. The issue was he had to be careful when speaking around other students since Quinn could develop the ability to look like anyone someday. Just the thought that a person could look like and mimic anyone Hunter knew or could trust really got on his nerves and made him more frightful than needed. He could see Quinn tense up, but this actually relaxed Hunter as he could tell she was more rational than he thought. If anything, it was the calm ones that Hunter needed to look out for the most. In Hunter's head, Quinn was a metamorphmagus, and she was the one he needed to be cautious of most from just that fact.

"Very well," he said with a slight sigh. His wand redirected back towards the box, and he cast the levitation spell again. He gently lowered the box back to the ground but at a distance between him and Quinn rather than back upon Quinn's lap or next to her side. He left the box of items he didn't know were inside, looked at it, and decided to brush off any more sense of curious nature that could cause him to delve any deeper: "Two more things then, Ms.Root. If you are a metamorphmagus, then I would still like a demonstration. Next, I heard most metamorphmagii are incapable of controlling their abilities till they reach a certain age. Are you capable of looking like other students? If so, then please turn yourself to look like me."
