Ana was about as shocked that Nia didn't know about quidditch as you would expect a muggle to be if you told them you didn't know about football. It was something the whole wizard world knew about, even if they weren't all passionate about it.

"Oh boy. It would take ages to explain the details of quidditch. But yes, it's a sport. Played on broomsticks. The short version is, there's three chasers on each team passing each other a ball called a quaffle and trying to score through three hoops on each end of the field. There's a keeper on each team guarding the hoops. There's also two bludgers - balls that fly around on their own attacking people - and two beaters per team that keep them away from their teammates and try to hit them at the other team. And then there's the snitch. A tiny ball the two seekers compete to catch, but it's really hard. Catching it earns a ton of points and ends the game."

That was about as basic an explanation as she could give. Though it was probably still extremely confusing to a newbie. It was a sport you really had to see in action to understand. And since Ana wasn't exactly a quidditch fanatic she was probably the wrong person to talk to anyway. But she was sure Nia would find someone who could give her all the detail she asked for and then some once they got to Hogwarts.

Ana nodded at Nia's reaction to her parent's immigration story. "Yeah, they're amazing. Thankfully my grandparents are with us as well and my uncle and his family emigrated to France, so nobody from my family is down there anymore. Part of my father's job is actually to help the Persian government in exile organize the wizards that are still there. And help people leave if they want to go elsewhere." Truth be told, most wizardborns were more than capable of defending themselves against muggles. It just took more effort to keep everything secret. And of course there was the problem of tracking down the muggleborns before the muggle government could. Ideally without stirring up too much of a fuss.

Nia actually had an interesting family history as well, and Ana was somewhat relieved that she wasn't going to be the only non-British person at the school. "Gran Canaria is an island, right? I'm sure the weather there must be amazing!" She was a bit jealous, even though Oxford wasn't the worst offender when it came to British weather. She could imagine Nia playing on the beach every day back home. That would be an amazing way to grow up, Ana thought.

Nia's dad's job sounded extremely confusing, but she could definitely comprehend what her mother did. "She can make clothes! That's awesome! Though I really like shopping for clothes so I guess I don't mind too much that my mum can't make them herself. Would still be amazing to know how to alter things though. I'll definitely help you with scrapbooking if you teach me." It was a win-win situation, really. And Ana would get a friend out of it to boot! Her tine at Hogwarts was definitely off to a good start.

Ana laughed and nodded at Nia's terms for taking the photo, while fixing her own hair in the reflection of the train window. This was definitely a girl after her own heart. "No problem. It might take a while for me to get you the copies though. I have to develop them properly or they won't move right." She said, sliding a bit closer so they'd comfortably fit on the photo together. "Smile!" she added, and held the camera at arm's length, taking a few pictures of the two of them.

”That sounds… unnecessarily complicated” laughed Nia when Ana finished explaining Quidditch to her. Granted, she’d never understood sports in general, but she was pretty sure they didn’t usually have so many things going on at once. “And you wanna try out for the team?”

The shadows outside the train’s windows were getting longer, and the sun started to slowly set as the girl talked about her family. The journey was slowly coming to an end. Or, perhaps, a beginning.

“Your father’s job sounds very important”, she commented. It sounded very noble, too, like the kind of job that could help people and actually make a difference in the world. “Would you like to follow his steps when you grow up?”

Nia perked up when Ana recognized the name of her island. She knew it was a famous touristic destination, and thus, a lot of people had heard of it. However, it was such a small place that it always amazed her when people knew what she was talking about. “Yeah! It’s technically a part of Europe, but it’s literally right next to Africa. You could probably swim from Fuerteventura to Morocco”, she said, although she was not sure at all one could do that. It just seemed to be close enough to do it when you looked at a map, so she was guesstimating. “The weather is usually very nice, but we do get something that’s called Calima. It’s basically a sandstorm from the Sahara Desert. That can be awfully uncomfortable.” She grimaced, remembering the dry, orange tinted air that made it hard to breathe and made the skin of her face dry out in little scales.

“You’ve got yourself a deal, sweetcheeks!” She winked when Ana accepted her offer. “And for the record, I love going shopping too! But I’m trying to be more sustainable, so I usually just take a look around, see what I like, take some pictures and then recreate it at home with some of nanay’s fabrics. It’s cheaper, more fun and good for the environment!

She posed next to the girl, smiling brightly and turning her head towards the right side so it would face the camera, when Ana said something that stood out to her.

“Wait, move?!”

The flash of the camera captured the moment where her studied pose and smile turned into a bewildered face.
