"Thank you for the explanation. You're Alan, right?"Logan called out as she attempted to avoid the others, trying to keep as far away from the ones chancing them as possible. Sherlock was bouncing around the girl's feet excitement clear on his face as he bounded after his owner, Logan laughing as she watched the cat chase after her.

The Hufflepuff made sure to keep an eye on the others around her, checking to see if anyone had been tagged yet and it seemed that so far, no one had been frozen. Glancing at her best friend, she laughed as he spoke about dying. "I think you need to go for runs more often Charm, are you really this out of shape," she laughed as she bounced on her feet. It was a good thing the girl would go on a run almost daily in the morning, she needed to keep in shape and it seemed to be on her side at that point.

Making sure Sherlock was not in the way, she laughed slightly as the cat pounced at Loki, who seemed to want to play as well. "If you stay with me at all over the summer, you are going to be doing a lot of running," she informed the boy with a grin as she took off at a jog again to avoid any of the other students.

Interacting With: @Alan Vanes, @Henry Knight, @Ileen Knight, & @Colin McCoire | Mentioning: Kim Sato | Dialogue Hex: #143314
Leonard, the utterly mad scientist he was, had a sizable swathe of his cognitive crop circle dedicated to constant experimentation. He was more than familiar with its sterile, clearly controlled forms, taking field trips to museums as gospel and mentally photocopying textbooks of laboratory etiquette to the point where every publishing company envied his skill. He recalled the naive attempts his younger self had made to create his own studies of magical nature, and it was then he realised that he should’ve been following Alan’s path all along, getting some underclassman to parrot the supposedly fun properties of his game and taking notes as chaos ensued.

And of course the paladin of pointless idiocy had tried to get McCoire to parrot his praises, even if only through body language. “Please, Colin, no amount of cleverness could save you if you ally with this–

A convenient time for the game to start, no? He’d rushed to reach for fifth year, but it was all in (as would be funny had it not resulted in such teasing failure) vain.

Wait, we’re friends?” Despite himself, the entire octave his voice rose betrayed the unquelled question’s sincerity. Alan Vanes, the definition of being out of one’s league whatever the sport may be, considered none other than him to be a friend. Still yet, honesty was expected from nobody in juvenile competition, so he took the reminder of the team’s current situation and spat it back out with something that wasn’t snippy sarcasm nor brash bitterness. After all, his face had long been contorted in a position most comparable to a statue's, so he might as well have used it to gain any speck of advantage over his slippery opponents. “Oh, we’re not friends.

And as if the game’s start hadn’t been bad enough, “Pardon, flaring?” His call to the only chevalier able to prove that chivalry was dead was as confused as it was irritated. Frankly, he still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact this was someone seemingly the entire school could stand to be around, but there was no accounting for taste when his own presence was, by all calculations of probability, the factor tripping up his teammates. No matter, he had a few other targets on the mind. Perhaps he would get back at Colin for attempting to defuse their initial banter, or perhaps he would use whatever allergens had landed on his dress shirt to weaken the defenses of an Asian Gryffindor he’d seen a few times before.

He was glad to see his classmate returning Alan’s jabs with a smile in the wake of their unfortunate happenstance. While the majority of his fellow taggers were faces only known for their passive existence in the tragedy of his life, he knew Ileen to be sensible, which was more than he could say for the other Knight. He wouldn’t say anything, however, focusing rather on digits of distance and area, focusing on how he could flip the table right in the enemy’s face. You know, in a polite, dignified way that proved him much more of a sportsman than Henry and therefore deserving of popularity and success beyond one’s wildest wishes. Nodding to Ileen, he went to do just that with all the swiftness he could muster.

As Alan declared they'd have fun, but that she'd lose, Shiawase gave him a confident smirk.
"Oh, it's on! I hope you're ready to eat some humble pie after this!" She winked at him, and then, she put on her game face. Her focus. And she stared right at the redheaded girl. Nothing else in the game mattered - just her target. And she tore off after her with frightening speed. It was the fastest she'd wheeled since coming to Hogwarts, and it was so freeing. It felt like she was flying. And then with one final push, she reached out to her target. It seemed like a sure victory.

Until.

The girl fell. Out of her way. Because of a rock.

A rock!

Of all things to be foiled by!

The situation was so comical, so ridiculous, so absurd that Shiawase couldn't help but laugh as she wheeled to a halt.

"Really? A rock?" she asked between gasps for air. "And then you . . . you rolled like a . . . a beautiful acrobat I can't believe this!" She took a minute to compose herself, and finally did so with a cough. "That was great! You discovered my only weakness: rocks!"

She smiled broadly. "But you won't be so lucky next time!"

Though, in truth, it wasn't the rock that saved her. When Shiawase has to reach out to tag someone, she needs to let go of her wheels so her hands are free to do that. So she has to give a hard push with the momentum built up and hope her strength is enough to maintain her speed and get the person she's after. In this circumstance, she miscalculated when to let go - if she had let herself wheel closer before that final push, she wouldn't have lost that speed, and she would have frozen the girl before she could have tripped over a rock. Lesson learned. Shiawase would be better next time! She scanned the area, looking for her next target.

This was going to be FUN!! Interesting as Leonard and Henry's banter was, Colin was more focused on Alan and his start signal. He didn't need any instructions --- all you have to do is run and not get tagged! Easy peasy! Leo started to say something, but was cut off by Vanes. And as soon as the signal was given, Colin took off! He called over his shoulder: "Hey, Oakenshield! You're not gonna win by calculating the odds!" Colin ran and skipped around the field, dodging anyone who came anywhere close!

And one of those close calls was Ileen, his older house mate! She was after him, but Colin managed to slip away. That's when he saw Henry go down. He called over to the older snake: "Hey laddie, get up! Even Oakenshild can catch you lying down!" And with that he was off again.

Just as he thought, Shia and that mad wheelie machine of hers began to charge. Her target was Sophia, and she was bearing down on the poor girl when Sophia decided to trip on a rock and go tumbling to the side! "Ha! Good one Ginger Snaps!! You're gonna have to dive to catch our Soph, Shia! Owoooo!!!"

He'd lost sight of Marius and Footy Logan --- he'd have to find them and keep them in sight! They were dangerous!

When he caught sight of Kim, it looked like he would be tagged for sure. "Kim!" he called out as one of the other boys headed his way. If he got frozen, Colin would have to try and unfreeze him. But no worries! Kim dodged and after a short dance got away. "Strong evasive, Kim!!"

Colin found himself a good patch of field and kept on the lookout for anyone that might dare come his way. "Come on you slow coaches!" he teased the Its. "It's not nap time --- pick up your feet and come get me!! Owooooooo!!"

Ah, it was a miss! Marius groaned inwardly. He did not want to give up, though. Giving up means losing, and either way this was just a game: if he gave up when playing a simple game, what would he do when he encountered a complicated real-life problem? Running away, trying to pretend that the challenge did not even exist, and perhaps blaming someone else for the problem or utilising any mean to have another person fix it for me.

That was why he would not stop, oh no way, José! Surely small things like this were practice for bigger matters.

With a renewed spirit, Marius began to run again. For the Hufflepuff, it did not matter whether or not he managed to catch the brunette who happened to be his first target earlier. But here is the thing that mattered: that he and his group, the "Its" in this Freeze Tag game, could catch as many students in the opposing team as possible. It should not matter who got frozen first and by whom.

Motivated by this, Marius chased after the nearest pupil. The pupil who was not part of his team, that is. If they turned out to be too difficult to catch, then he could simply switch, could he not?
