In this thread Mireia will be attempting to break school rule No. 5.
5. Students may not enter the Forbidden Forest without permission from professors.
Be warned, by entering this thread your character may be awarded punishment by Professors if our characters are caught entering the Forbidden Forest.

Wednesday, May 4, 2022 - Early Evening

It was early evening, the sun was just beginning to set behind the castle. The day was still light, but noticably darker than high noon. There were still a good number of students wandering the grounds as there were a couple hours left before the common room curfew. The weather was nice so the students were enjoying it.

Mireia had other plans in mind than leisurely activites. She was walking along the edge of the Grounds. Kicking her feet far ahead of her as she walked, her head hanging down and her hands in the pockets of her robes, she tried to appear like a bored young student wandering about.

But she was not bored, not easy she wandering. Her eyes darted quickly between the edge of the school where Professors might be watching, and the edge of the Forbidden Forest that was just feet away from her.

Students of any year were not allowed to enter the Forbidden Forest without the company of a Professor. Talking to other students, it was unlikely she would be led into the forest for class purposes I told her later years in school.

Unfortunately, Mireia was far too impatient for that. She had read through her Hogwarts: A History book by this time in the year and had learned all about the forest from it. It was a very interesting read and a very mysterious place. Mireia knew it ought to have quote the assortment of plants that she could use for potions, magical or muggle. Sure, she figured, there would be animals that would be of use too, but she was not so niave to think she could defeat a creature of the forest at her skill level.

Her plan was not to be in the forest for very long, but more importantly she did not plan to go very deep within it. She just wanted to go far enough where the trees gave her cover from any peering Professors, but not deep enough for her to lose her own sight of the daylight and the castle. If any monsters were to come crawling, she would have plenty of time to run the few feet back out of the forest.

Her courage grew and waned with the minutes. When her courage was at a high her feet would carry her a few feet closer to the edge, closer and closer each time, before her courage waned and she drew back out to a safe distance.

Soon, hopefully, her bravery would last long enough for her to go all the way into the forest, but that might take several more minutes of walking.

It would not be hard for a nearby student to understand what Mireia was attempting. Mireia was keeping an eye out, but mostly for Professors, only vaguely monitoring the students unless they got too close.

Ana had spent many a day looking at the forbidden forest since she'd come to Hogwarts, wondering what could be found inside. She'd heard the most amazing stories about all kinds of fantastic magical creatures from the scary to the absolutely gorgeous. There were unicorns in there by some account. Real life unicorns. How amazing would it be to see one of those. Or if not unicorns then at least a mooncalf or two. Those were adorable as well and not quite as rare. She wasn't sure whether any of those creatures could be found near the edge of the forest, but it couldn't hurt to look, could it?

So ever since the weather had turned warmer, she had spent more and more time out on the lawn, torn between the strong desire to explore and fear that the more scary tales about the forest could be true. The tales about werewolves and giants and... shudder... acromantulas. Ana hated spiders with a passion so the mere thought of giant house size spiders made her skin crawl and her insides churn. But that did not make her curiosity go away completely. It remained stubbornly at the edge of her thoughts.

On one such day, she saw another young girl walk close to the forest. Suspiciously close, actually, if one was paying attention. Which it didn't seem like anyone was. Not any adults in any case. She watched the girl for a few minutes while appearing to stroll aimlessly across the lawn herself, seeing her walk closer and then further from the trees, as if conflicted about what she was going to do. Ana made the decision to steer her steps towards the girl, but in a way that would seem coincidental to most. Just two people wandering the grounds whose paths happened to intersect. Maybe, if the girl was considering the same thing she was, they could go into the forest together? The thought of entering the woods seemed a lot less scary if she didn't have to go alone. Four eyes saw more than two, both when it came to the creatures inside the forest and the teachers without.

As she drew closer she noticed that the other girl was a fellow Ravenclaw first year. She recognized her from class but hadn't really talked to the girl before. Hopefully it would be safe to approach a housemate. Even if the girl was appalled at the idea of going into the forest, surely she wouldn't rat Ana out and lose their house points? With that thought in mind, she adjusted her course to fall in step with the girl, so that now it looked from the outside like they were just two friends strolling and talking.

"Hi. Are you possibly thinking of going in there?" She asked quietly and calmly. Acting in any way excited would only serve to draw attention to the pair. And the last thing Ana wanted to do was raise suspicion. Anything beyond this point would depend on the other girl's reaction.

"Whit are thay lassies doin, eh laddie?" Colin whispered to himself.

Colin watched from a low spot at the edge the Forbidden Forest, screened by the undergrowth, as two students approached. It appeared as if the first one couldn't quite decide whether to dive into the Forest or run for the safety of castle. The second one seemed to be heading straight for the first one. As they approached Colin's position, the second whispered to the first one. He couldn't catch the words, but were most likely along the lines of what Colin was thinking --- TROUBLE!

Colin smiled. These two looked fun! Everyone knew the rules. And everyone wanted to get a peek inside the Forest. And for good reason! If not just for the adventure of trees and streams and hidden lochs, there were plenty of other things to attract the curious mind and bold heart! Right! There were loads of magical and mundane herbs, of course. Seanmamó had taught him enough herb lore that Colin could handle a number of basic preparations. But there were also the people and creatures that inhabited the place.

Who hadn't heard about the proud Cantaurs that lived here? Colin knew they had fought in the great war his Da was in and wouldn't he love to meet them? And surely there were plenty of magical creatures as well. He'd love to find a niffler, of course! But there were also huge attercops, the acromantulas; and unicorns and thestrals, even if he doubted he'd actually be able to see one. And there were surely dragons around too! Wouldn't it be cool to ride one of those? Or better still, a hippogryff!

As those delightful thoughts passed across his inner eyes, Colin noted that the two girls were almost on top of him! Just as they drew nigh, he stood up quickly and silently. He tried to make his voice deep --- but most likely failed: "What are you two doing here, then, eh?"

The day classes exhausted Rin, even though she felt as it was effortless. She evening shower soaked up her feelings like the evening mist, falling on her clear face. She brushed her browny-black hair out of her dark eyes. A group of young, probably first year students attempting to enter the forest itself. Rin began at a steady, sophisticated pace, avoiding site from the students and the crunch of evening sleeves. Scrunch, the noise of leaves had no eyes followed them. Rin crouched at the pile of mid-spring leaves. Slowly and steadily, she drew a small heart within the leaves. After finishing, she smiled to herself. "Whit are thay lassies doin, eh laddie?". Said a whisper not fair from where she stood. Rin's smile turned manipulative and turned at a steady tree within a tree opening. The tree made a constant rustle which shook the chirping of coloured birds. Though very close to sunlight the opening fell dark, this was the first time she willingly broke a school rule. Rin began to think about the animals within if necessary would she be able to talk her way out of danger?

"Hello you three." She said to the students willingly trying to investigate or instigate problems far from there reach. "I'm Rin."

Her nervousness was palpable. She wanted to go into the forest, she knew she could do it if she just went and DID it! She was scolding herself inwardly at her cowardice. But she loved Hogwarts and she loved being here and learning and part of her was afraid she could get expelled for this act.

She knew, realistically, they wouldn't expell her if she was caught. She would certainly get in trouble - again if she was caught at all - but explosion was severe, especially for a first year with a clean record. She tried to dwell on this thought and the assurance it gave her, hoping to calm her enough to finish the deed.

That was until she nearly jumped out of her skin as a fellow student popped up, strolling beside her. She nearly welped, but managed to control herself a bit and managed to let out only a shocked gasp. She didn't want to draw any more attention to herself.

It was just a fellow student. Mireia stalled her walking momentarily, but after a second it was clear the girl was walking along with her, so she picked up her pace once again, and then the girl spoke.

She saw from her robes that she was a Ravenclaw like herself. Walking side by side she did not get a good look at her face, but the girl looked vauguely familiar from this angle. Judging by her height, which was similar to Mireia's, she was likely a first year as well.

"What?" She chuckled nervously, "no, of cou-" she began to defend herself. She wasn't sure if the girl was looking for trouble so she could join, or she could tell. The House Cup was a big deal to some people and they would do anything to keep a fellow housemate from losing points.

But before she was even able to finish her sentence, a boy strolled up on them. Mireia was beginning to sweat. This was not how the plan was supposed to go. She should have been quicker about entering the forest. Braver, even. But she was a Ravenclaw and was thinking too much. She should have tried to channel the Gryffindor way.

This boy, clearly though, was a Slytherin. Maybe he was trying to join the trouble. But the more was not necessarily the merrier in this situation.

"Nothing!" She finally blurted out. "I'm just walking here, you know, in the sun, outside. I don't know what everyone is on about!" She yelled a little louder than she probably should have. But she found herself suddenly frustrated. She had been trying to do this thing, alone, and now there were so many people here.
