The Slytherin Table 2017 - 2018
Cassie eyed Sebastian as he talked to the other boy. It was a bit ludicrous. That he came to the great hall for a peaceful meal. In defense Cassie had been loud and some people don't like the people sitting closest to them to be very loud. "Sebastian, we are being quite loud and he is sitting right next to us. So we probably are giving him a headache." She looked at Lucien with an apologetic look then looked back at Sebastian.
Her face went a bit red with anger and she looked at him. "Are you implying that I don't rely on myself?" Cassie said calmly."You don't know how much I have done for myself. Justin just happens to be my sibling that I go to for a little bit of help. Normally he has his own problems" She said this calmly as well. Not wanting to become angry again.Frowning Cassie looked at him like he was strange. "I accept your offer." Cassie said smiling slightly. Hopefully they could become friends, but for now they were acquaintances. For now she was just going to focus on not being to loud or not trying to argue with some other Slytherin.

Lucien rolled his eyes at Sebastian with a sigh. "When I say a peaceful and quiet meal I mean some noise but not screaming in my ear practically. It's called being undonsiderate don't you know, or did your family never teach you table manners?" He huffed irritated with the overly loud noise. After that they seemed to be somewhat quieter. Cassie had calmed down much to Lucien's happiness. The only reason he ate in the great hall was to make sure his sister actually ate. His Aunt had told him to make sure she ate and check up on her. He knew he would be doing the same for his little brother Maven once he eneptered Hogwarts. Cassie and Sebastian continued talking as Lucien ignored them for the most part. Lucien wished he had sat with Mia and Maeve, they were much quieter and he actually enjoyed talking to them seeing as they all got along well. Maybe he would end up sitting with them from now on. After all, people were troublesome and Lucien had enough trouble in his life. His two different colored eyes scanned the room for Mia Maeve and Aravis. He didn't see any of them, perhaps they had already finished their meal.

Trying her best to ignore the drama that was still unfolding in multiple places on the table, Alma smiled at the still nervous looking Edric.
“My story isn’t quite as interesting, I’m afraid. My family consists less of scholars and more of people who are simply obsessed with books in some way. Everyone more or less has found something to study. My mother is an expert for certain artefacts, my father studies plants, so on and so forth. The Malvado family owns a book shop down in Knockturn, as I’m certain I’ve already mentioned. My older brother did not accept his title as heir, so that honour falls upon me and therefore I’m being trained to one day take over the shop, which in turn means that I spent a ridiculous amount of time surrounded by books of any kind. I read about a number of topics, mainly things that sounded like they might be of use to me and my own research topics. Mostly though, I’ve just read whatever book was closest to me at the time. Your family happened to be mentioned in one.”
Alma threw a glance down the table. She noticed that it had grown considerably more quiet. The arguments had mostly settled down, apparently

"I disagree," Sebastian said simply. "I haven't raised my voice beyond acceptable conversation levels for an interior environment. He has the problem, as far as I'm concerned."
That said, Sebastian was a little pleased to hear Cassie start to stand up for herself. The admission that her twin, Justin, seemed to act as her anchor was concerning, since that could imply that any secrets discussed could pass to the sibling; but, with time, perhaps Cassie would prove she truly was a Slytherin, and she would find her place in the House.
"I'm saying that you can't always rely on others," Sebastian continued, sighing. He made sure to speak plainly, so Cassie didn't confuse his words. "And at this point, I would agree that your reliance on your sibling seems to be more important to you than other things. I suppose that's understandable, but as I mentioned, the sooner you begin to make your own name separate from his own, the better for you."
The last thing Sebastian would want, as a twin, would be to walk in that twin's shadow. To never have the chance to show what he was capable of, in light of the other. So perhaps this was a good development for Cassie, one which would let her break away a little and begin to make some decisions for herself, rather than the twin.
I do not envy anyone their siblings...
Sebastian glanced across the table, watching Edric and Alma discussing things. At some point, Sebastian planned on approaching Alma and getting to know her, but first he wanted to make sure Cassie was coping - though she did seem considerably more calm and collected now, which was a good thing.
"What classes are you looking forward to, Cassie?"

Edric tried to listen to Alma carefully without being distracted by the ruckus what was going on around the table. He'd thought that the Slytherins would be more sophisticated then the Gryffindors or Hufflepuff. Instead there were the usual arguments over the dinner table he was used to from home.
"Is that the bookshop where they sell scrolls and pergament and all those special things?" he asked excitedly. He didn't remember the name Malvado in particular, but he'd been there with his grandma and his brothers just two days before school had started. "Is was there with my brothers last week because Adair wanted some special book on magical herbs of the Welsh Highlands. I didn't know the shop belonged to your family!"
He couldn't imagine how it was to be the heir of something has fancy as their bookshop. You needed lots of knowledge on all kinds of subjects to be able to sell each customer exactly what they needed. Alma seemed to take it in stride however, not bothered in the leats by all the reading. He was a little intimidated by how smart she was, honestly.
"I didn't now that the Banes' are mentioned in any book," he mused, still somewhat bewildered. "I mean it makes sense... we are the biggest hippogriff breeders in Britain. The only herd that resembles ours in size is the one from here."

Khris breathed a quiet sigh of relief as the arguing from the little group seemed to finally settle; silver blue eyes darting upwards to catch the tail end of calmed expressions floating across his housemate's faces as conversation now float rather than flashed back and forth between them.
The hall was chaotic on a good day. Having additional shenanigans going on right under his nose was a tad bit overwhelming, thank you very much.
He toyed with the biscuit on his plate before breaking off a corner.
It had been easy to slip in while everyone had been distracted and he had -for the most part- enjoyed his meal in peace; even a rare smile twitching at his lips as tidbits of conversation from the two quieter Slytherin's near him made it to his ears. However now that the conversation had slowed the chances of being noticed and pulled into an introduction of his own was increasing at an alarming rate.
He popped the piece of the sweet treat in his mouth and chewed slowly as his stomach flip flopped.
Socializing was... worrying.
On one hand (the rational hand) he knew that these were his fellow students and house mates and sooner or later they would have to meet and perhaps even converse no matter how awkward. He knew they were probably quite decent people and he had nothing to worry about and yet... He also knew his track record with attempting friendships.
Khris winced, shoulders hunching and breath catching as his eyes stayed glued to his now empty-save-a-few-crumbs plate.
His track record was poor. Very poor.
Trembling fingers reached for his goblet, the unusual drink soothing as he let his eyes drift shut before lowering it again. He'd never been good at people. Teased for his rather small stature and bullied for his quiet and gentle ways, kids his age were just something he had learned to avoid over the years. Doing this, introductions and the sort was terrifying.
Remember this is Hogwarts though. This is new and fresh and not "muggle school". Kids here, they understand. They're diverse and different and unique. They won't be a problem. Just be kind and maybe they'll be the same back. Come on, you can do this, Khris. Just open your mouth and say hi.
He took a deep breath, eyes scanning the students near him once more. They seemed decent, really they did. The boy who he had heard was Edric had been kind and polite throughout the entirety of his conversation with Alma (the young girl across from him) and she had been invested enough to ask and return questions with a bright smile. They appeared truly nice. It would be fine. A good start.
It will. Go ahead. Just say-
"Oh!!!"
The shout fell from Khris' lips as his goblet fell from his hands, bright orange pumpkin juice pouring in seemingly slow motion across the expanse of air. He grasped for it, tried to catch it, artists fingers just grazing the edge of the cup and causing it to spin top over end and land with a metallic clattering on cobbled floors.
Right then. Abort mission 'Introduction'. There goes the possibility of friendship out the window.
Khris shoulders slumped, his face burned red, and his hands shivered uncontrollably as he reached out to silently retrieve the cold metal goblet and mop up the sticky orange liquid spreading across the floor.
Please don't notice. Please don't say anything too harsh. Great Merlin, I wish I was invisible!

The Slytherin Table 2017 - 2018
Lancelot had walked into the Great Hall in a rather bored mood, which wasn't unusual, except for the fact that for once in the past week he was bored because he had finished all the books he had at the current moment. He didn't feel like getting any more that day either, he had become rather tired of reading recently. That wasn't unusual either. So it wasn't surprising when he came into the room in hopes to find some excitement. Maybe talk to someone, witness something interesting.
Sighing deeply, Lance put his hands in his pockets and walked down the side of the long table in search for somewhere to sit. Albeit, he was very distracted by his own thoughts. Drifting his gaze across the people in the room, he easily blocked out all the noise and focused on scanning the room for someone he recognized. Or better, someone he didn't recognize. No harm in making another companion. Or enemy, in his case. He had a tendency to make those.
Just as he turned his gaze away from all the people, he gasped, his heart flipping in his chest as he jumped back in a startled manner when a goblet clanked onto the ground right in front of him. The loud noise had shaken him for a moment and his heart continued to race even after he realized that it was just someone who had dropped their drink.
The boy's freckled face was flushed and he looked extremely embarrassed, hurriedly trying to clean up the orange liquid, and Lancelot instantly felt bad for him. He also felt like an idiot for getting startled. But that aside, he quickly grabbed (or rather probably stole) a napkin from the table and leaned down with the boy. "Hey man, let me help you with that."
Well, at least he wasn't bored anymore.

The Slytherin Table 2017 - 2018
Marie had been sitting at the table amongst her fellow house mates for quite some time. Much to her dismay her choice to forego eating the day before was definitely not a good option, it's not as though she did it purposefully though, she'd simply gotten wrapped up exploring the academy's many halls.
Now that she had some semblance of a meal on her stomach though she couldn't help but simply sit there and listen to the bustling around her, trying to gauge what types of people she'd have to be spending the next few years with as she picked at a cherry, rolling it across her plate with her index finger as she stared off as if in thought. Despite the infamy of the Slytherin house, Marie was pleasantly surprised to find none of her new house mates seemed inherently evil. Well not that it'd be obvious, she thought with the slightest shake of her head.
Being lost in her own mind as she was, Marie hadn't taken much of a notice of the noise besides her. It wasn't until she'd gone to grab her napkin, wishing to wipe the fruit's juices from her hands and be on her way, when it was snatched right before her eyes. She turned to complain, mouth already opening to make an objection, but quietened at the scene, not wishing to further embarrass the poor red-faced boy. Turning back around in her seat Marie's hazel-green eyes searched the row of her fellow Slytherin's before she spoke up, "Does anyone have a napkin I can borrow?", it wasn't the best introduction she could've come up with but she preferred not to walk around with sticky fingers, that would just peeve her horribly.

The Slytherin Table 2017 - 2018
Khris' spine straightened sharply; his head raising and eyes widening in surprise as a lanky young lad appeared beside him, cheerful grin and good natured expression spread joyfully across his face. It was a look that Khris was unaccustomed to being on the receiving end of and it took him a moment to realize the young Slytherin had offered to help.
What a novel thing.
Khris had hoped for invisibility, expected mockery, and received kindness instead...
A brief and curious glance was cast towards the young lad.
The boy was rather tall for his age -at least from what Khris could tell with them both crouched beside the sticky mess- long legs pretzeled beneath a wiry frame and still a good few cm taller than Khris entirely kneeling. If they had been standing chances were the dark haired boy would have towered over him by at least 30cm (1ft).
More than enough to be easily hurt if he was so inclined.
Khris quickly shook the thought from his head, his nose wrinkling for a millisecond as he chastised his instinctive thoughts. No. This wasn't like his old schools. The boy had been nothing but cheerful and kind so far with not a word of condescendence falling from his lips. It was good, he seemed nice, no need to worry. In fact...
Khris smirked as he watched a napkin get stolen with ease.
Light fingered larcenist.
It was worth making an effort for no matter how awkward it may be. A chance to make a friend.
He took a shaky breath and cleared his throat.
"Thank you." He murmured, shy smile twitching at his lips as silver blue eyes met teal for a moment before dropping back to his sticky hands. "Thank you very much for helping with..." He made a vague gesture towards the still lazily running orange stream. "...this. It was nice. Kind of you. Not many people woulda stopped so..." A nervous chuckle escaped into the room. "Yeah."

The Slytherin Table 2017 - 2018
Lancelot was focused on wiping the orange liquid off the ground, which, keep in mind, he didn't actually enjoy. But it's not like he could go back now or anything. He probably wouldn't want to either. He wasn't that mean, right?
Throughout the time he was cleaning, he didn't even look up to notice how the boy was analyzing him, seemingly waiting to speak and taking in who Lance was as a person. But he could feel his gaze and he could sense the tense quietness until the boy spoke nervously, making Lance snap his eyes up, allowing his and the boy's to meet. At first, it shocked him a bit. His irises were a remarkable shade of icy blue, the intenseness of their color making Lance envy how bright they were. He felt very strongly that he should compliment the housemate before him, but deemed it to be for a better time when the boy kept speaking and breaking the eye contact.
"Oh yeah, no problem!" Lance said in an affable manner, waving his hand as if he was brushing off the kind gesture as nothing. "I mean seriously, what was I supposed to do? Walk away? That'd be just cruel, to be honest." He shrugged his shoulders, finishing off as much as he could of the spilled liquid with the napkin. It, unfortunately, did not seem to be magic.
"Anyway..." Lance started, trying to guide the conversation in the right direction. "I'm Lancelot!" His voice was coated with positivity and exuberance when he said his name, putting his hand out towards the other Slytherin. "But you can call me Lance, if ya want." Looking down at his hand, he noticed how it still had pumpkin juice on it from cleaning up. No one wants to touch that. "Um..." He pulled his hand away, a sudden shy smile on his face. "So what's your name?"
