Thurston looked at the half elf, that stood infront of him. This person was totally looking down at him, which he could totally see and even feel. Alone the look he was getting and how he pointed out everything that was wrong with him going into this storeroom. Of course he could understand, why he would not want anyone to enter his storeroom. But he did had the permission to do so and doing it at night was firstly to avoid any students in the classroom.

Thurston sighed slightly and stared at the man with the long hair and pointed ears. "Of course, I will note that you will not mind knowing my presence and will, the next time, talk to you beforehand" He brushed his fingers through his hair, before dropping his hands at his side in a swift movement.

"I am even open to do something... in return for the batch of potions. I usually helped the previous potioneer with ingredients or brewing - might as well continue with this..." Thurston was not sure, if the other would even consider help from someone else, but he knew that he probably had a lot more to do than he did. He needed to keep track of the ingredients, the storeroom and the potions. Might be helpful to have someone and he was already used to help Ms. Ethel out.

§ What was that? So he did have some modicum of human decency it seemed. All it took was my show of backing down and letting him have his way. Was it a typical human thing to experience guilt so easily? Whatever the case I revelled in a mental victory, glad that I had managed to affect him and win this victory, superficial and ephemeral as it may be. Still, I said nothing, holding the door open in wait for him to take his exit. I still wished him gone and away from my general vicinity, as he had already vexed me enough for the night. He didn't seem to be about to let it end there, however.

§ At the mention of my predecessor, my elven ears perked up with a tight movement, my interest suddenly piqued. So he had been a procurer of sorts for Ms. Ethel before she had left. And if my hunch was correct, Mr. Blackburn was in on it, whatever it is. There was something going on here, and I figured then and there that getting to know this man, even under the guise of a mutual understanding, would arm me with the tools I needed to discover the truth. I stepped back from the door, cocking my head to the side with a rare smile on my lips, a smile that I've used countless times in my thirty years of life to have my way. "How pleased I am to hear you offer such an altruistic delegation of your precious time." Butter him up then make my demands.

§ Only a fool would turn down such an offer, and a fool I was not. Placing a slender finger to my chin and peering upward as if in deep cogitation, I made a show of thinking about what it is that I could possibly need, but the answer to that had already been known since the moment he made the statement. "I like to keep my circle of brewing partners close-knit, involving only me, myself and I. You, however, could assist with my reagent runs as well as guarding the storeroom against" I cast an admonitory glance at him "those who might find it provident to steal from me." I could enlist his help in these things, and who knows? Maybe we could even become friends. Such a prospect rested entirely upon his conduct, as I was big enough to admit that I was probably not the easiest person to get along with.

§ "Maybe we started off on the wrong foot." I was willing to try. I raised my hand, palm down and in wait for him to take it gently, at which point he could either kiss it as if I were royalty, as I surely am, shake it with little vim, or disregard it. "Mr. Barclay, was it? Professor of...?" I left a silent gap for him to fill in the blank. "Professor Valtome; Potions Master. Though you already knew that. The name and title of my personage precede me, it seems." Was that too vainglorious? No. There was no such thing when I became the topic of discussion. I am perfect after all.

Thurston was looking at the Potioneer infront of him, before he let his gaze drift over to some of the potions. Alone looking at them, made him narrow his eyes, he could still recall the names of most of them. He could even remember their list of ingredients and what he had to keep in mind while brewing. On top of that he would knew how to improve on some of the potions or their ingredients.

He then looked back at the man, who was sweet talking to him, which remembered him strangely of the discussions his father held with people from his company. It had been a long while since a thought about his father had invaded his thoughts like this. It had been around eight years, when he had seen the man he used to call father for the last time.

"I could make sure that no unwanted person will enter this rooms..." he said, with a small hint of amusement in his voice, which was rather unusual. Only a few had heard him joking around as he kept his distance. But he was tired and that made him let slip a bit of his control.

When he was offered the others hand, he froze slightly before he took it. Lightly squeezing it, he quickly pulled his hand away again. In the last few years he had surprisingly little physical contact with people, at least he had it with just very few people.
"Well... Astronomy" he filled in the gap left by the other, giving a slight smile.

§ He was the Astronomy Professor? How ironic. Quite the antimony if one really took the time to consider it. A professor that studied and taught about celestial bodies when he himself was a slave to one of said celestial bodies. It was a dabble in poesy that not even I could parallel. I suppose it made sense from a certain point of view. When one considered that he was studying the phases of the moon and its relation to the stars and how they all affect such earthly things such as the growth rate of plants, the potency of potions, or, dare I say, the shift from man to beast, then it all tied together to make perfect sense.

§ Allowing my hand to fall to my side, I kept up the smile and assumed my most reassuring, good-natured tone. "Well Mr. Barclay, Astronomy Professor, I hope to see more of you in the future. May our time spent together prove advantageous for us both." From this partnership that we had gotten into I was certain I would be seeing more of the man. Whether that was a good or a bad thing was still up for debate, but for the time being, I opted to believe that this encounter was written in the stars. Mr. Barclay was still not in my good graces, and I didn't trust him for a second. Anyone who would steal away into someone's private stores under the cover of darkness was not a person to be trusted.

§ At the very least we could be cordial, not always nipping at each other's throats to see who could draw the first blood. "Now that we've gotten all the niceties out of the way." I gestured again to the door, urging him to leave. "I need my beauty sleep." I eyed him up and down. "Some of us more than others. If you'd be so kind?" The moment he left I would soundly shut the door behind him, but sleep would be the farthest thing from my mind as I got down to reworking the wards that acted as a magical barrier between my classroom, the storeroom, and the outside. There would not be a repeat performance of tonight's fiasco.

"Well Mr. Barclay, Astronomy Professor, I hope to see more of you in the future. May our time spent together prove advantageous for us both." Thurston listened to the others way of saying what people usually would express with "I hope we will get along" and shrugged slightly.
"I hope for the same, Mister Valtome" He really did, as spending time with a person like that Potion Master, could make his days turn out less boring.

The only joy he found was usually to gaze up in the sky at the late evenings or young nights. He thought it was fascinating and sometimes spent hours on the Astronomy Tower while the wind ripped at his clothes, but his gaze was solely focused on the art pictured by numerous celestial bodies above him.

When the elf, well half elf, in front of him mentioned his beauty sleep, Thurston could not help himself and raised a skeptical eyebrow.
"Of course, Mister Valtome. Send me an owl, if you find yourself in need of my assistance" He gave a respectful nod, before making himself on the way out of the Storeroom and through the Potioneer's Classroom. When he reached the doot, he smiled slightly, before leaving the others territory completely.
