Annie invited Marius to head back to the festival for some music, and the younger Hufflepuff agreed. As they moved, he felt a little uneasy without knowing the reason. The night was still young and they had just been talking about their families, a topic Marius normally enjoyed truly, but somehow tonight the boy felt rather restless and tired. Was it her offer to inform him the story behind her vision condition?
He had always thought that she had experienced it all her life, or as long as she could recall. However, today he had learnt something new. Still, the boy felt that it would not be so polite of him to ask for the history by saying "yes please", even if it was she who offered first.
Both were in silence for quite a while, and it felt awkward for Marius. Finally he opened his mouth and said, partially related to the elder Hufflepuff's offer, "My mum had a close friend who can't see, a Muggle-college friend if I remember correctly. He could play music well and the last time I met him, he earned his living through music. My mum also likes playing the piano, so my guess is, it was music that tied them." He said nothing, though, about his accidental discovery that the two had been dating as university students; it just seemed highly inappropriate talking about one's family's private business with someone you were not particularly close with.

Having eyes, but not seeing beauty; having ears, but not hearing music; having minds, but not perceiving truth; having hearts that are never moved and therefore never set on fire - these are the things to fear.

M-maybe Gem's bad luck. When I met her, my arms got all scratched up and bloody, but it was after the meeting, to be fair," she said with a fond chuckle, "But I can't say I've never opened a door and hit someone. What's weird is him not apologizing. Maybe he has some kind of weird social anxiety?"
She walked over to a table covered with masquerade-style masks. Ooh. Those were cool, She grabbed a dark green mask and a dark blue mask, setting them onto the table to get ready for decorating. She grabbed a few things she knew they'd need. There were a few tiny sapphire-looking gemstones and a few gems labeled 'peridot,' though Sophia wasn't an expert. She grabbed a small handful of each one, setting them down beside the masks. Next she needed, uh, glue!
"W-wait, he pinned you against a wall!?" Sophia whispered loudly, "Kim, what the heck? I was bullied a lot in school before I came here, and I can tell you it's not normal for a bully to put your l-lips so close together after cornering you!"
She put a dab of glue on the corners of the eyes of the masks, gluing the sapphires to Sage's blue mask, and the peridot to her own green mask. Nice. It was coming along. Next, she began to rummage, looking for glitter glue. She was tempted to grab some flowers too, but flowers would ultimately wilt and die, so that wasn't an option for these masks. When her eyes settled on what she needed, she snatched it up and brought it to the masks.
"W-well, maybe there's an actual reason he follows you around? Did you lose something in the classroom? A book or something?"
She applied the yellow and green glitter glue across her mask liberally, happy to see the it matched the green hue well. After she was satisfied, she added a line of the peridot gemstones across the corners and top of her mask, blowing to make the glue dry faster. Satisfied, she gave Sage's mask the same treatment, but with blue and purple glitter glue and sapphires instead. There. She was happy with how the masks had turned out. Now she just had to give them a bit of time to dry.
"Y-yeah, Sophia said fondly, a blush creeping onto her cheeks as she remembered Gem saving her from the owls when they met, "Gem's really good at saving people like that."
It was an embarrassing memory, since she was normally so good with owls, but she would cherish that night. The feel of her hands in Gem's own, the hug, all of it. It was the first physical contact she'd had with a friend since her parents died, and she was grateful for it.
"Who's this other girl, by the way? I probably haven't met her, but surely she doesn't deserve to be hated just 'cause of her date, right? Maybe she just doesn't know about all this 'Stalker' business?"
Testing the glue with her fingers a bit, Sophia smiled in relief before slipping her green mask onto her face. It fit perfectly, but how did it look?
"What do you think?" she asked Kim with a beaming smile.

Kim tensed at Sophia's words.
Weird social anxiety..., this was why he tended to keep his severe condition hidden.
But he didn't say anything in response. The wooden stall loomed up in the distance and as soon as they reached the location, Kim let his eyes flicker over the items there.
He was pretty good at crafts, it was something he'd dabbled in back at home. After all, he'd made that jewelry awhile ago that he'd given both Sophia and Gem at the ball. So this kind of activity was something that was right up his alley. As they stepped up to the booth, Kim noticed the girl in charge was chattering away with various people. He hoped she wouldn't try talking to him because right now he just wanted to grab some material and start making stuff.
But she seemed pretty busy with the others at the moment, which was relieving to him. Kim let his eyes flicker over the display of masks and flowers. The creative side of him was quickly coming to the surface and he immediately reached out with his good hand to select a variety of blank colored masquerade masks. Since it was hard for him to carry with just one hand, Kim slipped them all into his satchel. He also grabbed some rhinestones and a few diamonds.
Or at least what looked similar to diamonds.
But he made sure to keep those in his hand, as they would get lost inside his satchel.
Kim went over to the table Sophia had chosen and placed the gems onto the surface. Then, he went back to grab some more items. He was informed that the small bottles of 'glue' were designed to stick things onto the masks. Well, that was rather fun. Kim didn't take one though because he'd already seen Sophia grab one. When Sophia started to use the glitter glue, Kim's eyes widened. That looked awesome! He went over to look for some of that stuff.
It didn't take him long to find what he was looking for and he came back to their table with gold, black and silver glitter glue, along with 4 different colored silk ribbons. The ribbons would be used to tie the masks onto their heads. Now, Kim was ready to get started! However, that was when Sophia echoed his words about Stalker having pinned him up against the wall and his face flushed. "SHHH!" He exclaimed, feeling embarrassed about it.
Why was she so loud?!
"Don't be so loud!!!" Kim chastised her.
But Sophia's words only served to convince him that Stalker's actions hadn't been normal.
What was he supposed to make of this? Her next words reminded him of something and Kim shook his head. "No. But he came back to the room because he'd forgotten a book. He found it though and then came over to bug me afterward. I think he seemed rather amused at the time for some reason." He told her and his brow furrowed upon thinking back on it. As Sophia spoke about Gem, Kim glanced over at her a little bit curious.
Could she...? Kim shook his head, no he was probably imagining it.
But then again, who knew? He'd have to keep an eye on her and see whether his suspicions turned out to be correct later on. The purple haired boy continued to put together his creations. He'd grabbed 2 gold masks from the start for him and Precious. And then had also taken 2 black masks, 2 light blue and silver masks, a silver mask and a silver and purple mask. He'd taken 4 black silk ribbons, 2 light blue silk ribbons and 2 silver silk ribbons too.
First off, he'd do the two for him and Precious.
They required the least work to be done because they were nearly perfect to begin with.
Kim used the 'glue' to stick 4 diamonds onto the middle of the mask going upward vertically in a line. He also placed a few feathers directly in the middle and glued them in place.
The feathers were black and white and weren't very big, so it would make the mask look awesome. He attached a black silk ribbon to either side of the mask and then set it down on the table. Next, Kim tackled his own mask. This one was similar to Precious's, made of the same gold material. He glued a few diamonds near the top of the mask and added a few black and white feathers to it as well. Now, he had two matching masks. Perfect for ball dancing.
Especially, for two people who had come together. Kim attached another black silk ribbon to either side of the mask and set that one aside too. Now, he would tackle the other masks. He took the silver one and added some of the cut-outs he'd picked up earlier to the mask, gluing them in place. And then, he attached the rhinestones onto the mask in a fancy pattern. Once he was done with that task, Kim grabbed the silver glitter glue. Now to add detail to the mask.
He drew an elaborate design with the former onto the mask.
After awhile, he finished and set it aside to dry a little, while he worked on the next one.
Kim repeated this pattern with the other masks, although he used different colored glitter glue on each one. The light blue and silver masks had silver glitter glue, along with the purple and silver one. One of the black masks he used black glitter glue on and the remaining black mask had gold glitter glue. At long last, Kim was finished with his creations. All of them but the last two were now completely dry, which made him place them carefully into his satchel.
He would make use of them later on, when the time was right that is. For the first time since he'd started to make his creations, Kim looked back over at Sophia. "Oops. I tend to get laser focused when I create something, so everything around me kind of just goes away at the time. Did you say anything to me before?" He asked, letting his eyes flicker over her. "Ooo, it looks good on you, Sophia!" Kim said with a faint smile.
The purple haired boy would then place the remaining masks into his satchel, only leaving two of them out on the table. He picked up one of them and placed it over his own face. "What do you think of mine? It's kind of simple and I didn't really do much to it but I like it." Kim told her with a shrug, talking through the mask on his face. The other gold mask remained on the table, as he was going to give it to Gem when she arrived there.

"Oh, this is amazing, Kiki! Come on!" She half dragged her friend over to the mound of flowers and jewels. Her artistic spirit was singing clear in her mind, and her fingers were practically begging her to get to work creating a masterpiece. But something was still missing...
"I wonder where Kim and Sophia are?"
"...I can tell you it's not normal for a bully to put your l-lips so close together after cornering you!"
Gem snorted and headed in the direction of Sophia's familiar shrill. As they approached, she gently dropped Akemi's hand and tapped Sophia on the shoulder. Oh! And it looked like Kim was putting the finishing touches on some masks. Now they'd have a proper ball-appropriate look!
"There you two are! I've been looking all over for you!" Gem exclaimed. She inched closer to the selection of flowers as she spoke, eager to begin. But the other part of her was ecstatic upon seeing the rest of her group again.
"Oh, Sophia, this is my friend, Akemi," She chirped, gesturing accordingly, "And, uh, Kim, you two have already met..."
Gemima cleared her throat and went about inspecting the blossoms on the table. Kim had met Akemi, all right. The joy in her heart evaporated a bit as she remembered the fire in his eyes when Akemi had agreed to be Felix's ball date.
Well! she thought determinedly, He'll have to get through me first, if he's going to try anything. Her headstrong friend had already caused enough trouble for one night. He seemed to favor the rash and risky. Which reminded her--
"How did the Firewalking turn out?" Gemima wondered. "I'm sorry I didn't come to see how you did." She tried to bring the excitement back into her tone. Kim looked up upon hearing a familiar voice.
Precious! A faint smile could be seen upon his lips as he turned to look over at the girl.
Only to see her with the devil, aka akama. The one girl Kim did not ever want to see again in his lifetime. He narrowed his eyes at Akemi as Precious introduced her to Sophia.
Kim was about to fall into a dark, brooding, angry mood, all due to Akama's appearance, when Precious suddenly mentioned the Firewalking event. Which in turn brought back his feelings for Felix again and his cheeks heated up for what felt like the millionth time. The purple haired boy's right bandaged hand was obvious and very visible. So was the bandage around Kim's upper chest, as it called attention to that area with all of the white gauze there.
The bandage on his back was less noticeable at the moment because Kim was currently facing Precious and Akama. But if they circled around, they would instantly notice that part too. Kim wanted to get up and leave since Akama was there now but at the same time she was Precious's friend. And he did need to spend some time with her at the ball. He didn't want her to feel neglected, as he'd been the one who had brought Precious to the Midsummer Ball.
Kim shook his head.
He wasn't about to say anything about the event because nothing had gone according to plan.
The last thing he needed was a recap about how Felix had caught him in his arms and they'd shared a moment together. Scratch that, Kim had thought they'd shared a moment together.
Obviously, he'd been mistaken, as Stalker had dropped him and caused him to get more hurt than he originally would have if Felix had simply watched him as he'd been supposed to. Like the other contestants. Seriously, what had the boy been thinking of rushing over to him as if he was his husband?! And if he'd gone out of his way to do this, why had he dropped him afterward?! Rude! Stalker might be incredibly pretty but he was so rude! Kim didn't like him.
He wasn't sure where Sophia had got it into her head that Kim had a crush on him.
Hah.
As if.
Still, Kim didn't want to waste the masks he'd made for him and Precious. They also still hadn't gone dancing yet. And there were flower crowns yet to be made too.
Precious looked like she wanted to try her hand at making one and Kim nodded over to the abundance of flowers. "So you all want to try making some flower crowns?" He asked and got up to walk over to the craft corner to stop in front of the booth filled with flowers. Kim glanced over the flowers and picked up some with his good hand, along with the necessary materials to make the crowns. But it would be hard to carry all of them back over.

Sophia grinned at Kim's masks. They were beautiful! He'd obviously had more of a hand for this kind of thing than she did. Hers were terribly simple, but that was fine too. It was the feeling that went into the crafts that really mattered, and both Kim and herself were not lacking in feeling, apparently, 'cause they'd both been so absorbed into their work.
"It looks amazing, Kim, it-" Sophia was interrupted by another voice behind her.
"There you two are! I've been looking all over for you!"
Sophia smiled as Gem, Sage, and someone approached them, but her smile didn't last. How'd they known it was her so easily...? She was wearing her mask still, after all.
"Some mask this is..." she muttered under her breath, reaching for the sapphire mask she'd made and holding it out to Sage.
It wasn't grand by any means. It was an ordinary masquerade-style mask, with a blend of purple and blue glitter glue and small sapphire-like studs lining the top and corner. It was flashy, but it wasn't elegant like Kim's. But she'd made it with love in every drop of glue, so that had to count for something!
"It's not much, and it's certainly not a Kim-level mask, but I made this for you. I think the blue would go well with your dress, and your eyes are just the right shade of green for it, I figure. I hope, at least."
Then Gem took a moment to introduce them to her friend, Akemi. Or, rather, to introduce her to Akemi. Sophia especially loved how the girl's name rolled off the tongue.
"Wow, your dress looks amazing! I could never pull something like that off. You're like an actual princess! Oh wait, I'm Sophia. It's nice to meet you! she said, holding her hand out for a handshake.
Kim seemed to be brooding, almost glaring at Akemi, even, but Sophia didn't want to bring attention to it, so instead, she decided to address Gem's question about the Firewalking.
"Oh, man, the Firewalking was so cool! I almost won, but Kim was in last place," she said with a friendly nudge to Kim's side, "Then some jerkwad came over and basically threw Kim onto the burning LEGOs. It was ridiculous."
She realized how much she'd said and frowned, looking to Kim for reassurance. Thankfully, he seemed eager to change the subject, but something told Sophia she'd just said something she shouldn't have said.
"Y-yep, I'd love to make some flower crowns," she said, noticing that Sage was already well ahead of them. Regardless, it was a good escape from the consequences of her unintentional babbling.
She looped arms with Sage and did a playful little curtsy again, giggling all the while.
"Would you care to escort me to the flowers, madam?" she said jokingly, in her best possible attempt at a posh English accent. (Though it was still quite a horrible attempt.) The flowers weren't exactly far, but she figured that being goofy and playful could only help push the subject change even further.

As Akemi and Gemima made it to the crafting table, she felt excitement build up in her, the enthusiasm to, well, craft something. That’s what the crafting table was for, anyway. As her eyes landed on the masks and flower crowns, her mind began to wander and became oblivious to their friends.
“You’re like an actual princess!”
Compliments? Akemi loves compliments. She looked up to see who would be her new friend.
The first person she noticed was tall boy number two from the corridors. That must have been the Kim guy Gemima and Sage had been talking about. She thought that tall boy number two was a better name, though. It helped her keep track of all the tallboys she met. And there were plenty.
The guy must’ve hated her after the corridor incident. It was pretty obvious that he did with that look in his eyes. She didn’t blame him, she acted like those brats her sister hangs out with. Just looking at him made her think about Felix, which made her worry that Felix played her. And she didn’t like that feeling. Honestly, she just wanted to forget what happened that day.
"Uh… Hi. You look nice, well except for your injuries, but-" She sighed. why are you so goddamn stupid, Akemi? “-I hope you’re enjoying yourself.”
Maybe that had eased a bit of the tension between the two. Now wasn’t the time to think about that though. She had to compliment the complimenter, and maybe, possibly, become her friend.
Akemi faced the girl that had given her the compliment and beamed, “Thanks! I actually made it myself. You look quite lovely as well.” She accepted Sophia’s hand and shook it “That’s a nice name! My name’s Akemi. I hope we can become good friends.”
Right. Now for the flower crown. Akemi rushed to the crafting table and picked up the supplies she needed for the flower crown. This was going to be fun.
Action: Introducing herself to Kim and Sophia, then beginning to make her flower crown.

Crafting Table
After coming from the chaos that was the great hall, Ana was relieved to see that the courtyard seemed mostly calm. Or at least it was a different, less agressive form of chaos. There was a group of students her own age standing around a table laden with flowers and crafting supplies. A purple haired boy seemed especially skilled and had already made several masks for himself and his friends. How neat!
Ana passed their table and went to the crafting table to pick up some materials. She decided that she would make a flower crown, since she didn't like wearing masks. They always got so itchy on your face after a while, especially if they had feathers on them. And they impaierd your vision. Which was not a good thing, keeping in mind she had to exit back through the great hall again later. Who knew if the fighting would end by then. Though it boggled her mind that the professors had let it get to the point that it had.
She grabbed a handful of flowers, sticking mostly to the color blue to keep it matching her dress. Instead of making a flower crown, she took off the blue headband she was wearing, letting her hair flow loosely for the moment. She then wound the flowers into the headband, attaching them firmly so they wouldn't come loose later.
Once she was done with that, she went back to the table for a bottle of glue and a variety of gold jewels and glitter. Painstakingly and with much eye for detail, she glued little gems onto the petals , taking care not to tear them off or overload them. She then sprinkled a generous amount of glitter over the whole thing. She gave it one last appraising look before pushing her hair back behind her ears and carefully placing it onto her head. Perfect.

Crafting Table
The Crafting Table was a pocket of peace in one corner of the bustling courtyard. Like a moth to flame, Sage had beelined towards it the moment she stepped out of the Great Hall. She didn't mind returning for another round of crafts.
As luck would have it, her group of old and new friends would come together once more. Sage spotted familiar silhouettes bent over in concentration amid stalks of flowers and feathers and tins of paint and glitter and shiny thingamabobs.
She stood in the space between Kim and Sophia, looming over their shoulders to see what they're doing. Some prettily-decorated masks were spread between them. She was more of a flower-crown sort of girl, but the allure of hiding one's identiy was not lost on her.
"There you are, Soph. You seem alright, thank Merlin." She gave the redhead a quick once over then turned her nose up at Kim. "I do hope you're quite finished dragging her around, Sato."
Then, Sophia presented to her a mask with sapphires and purple glitter.
"For me?" Sage's tone softened, and accepted the mask happily. The areas where the glue had smudged the glitter hinted at the crafter's unsteady hand but even so, a tingling warmth spread over Sage's chest. Handmade stuff held more value than the ones bought from a store, certainly. "Oh, thank you!"
How lovely! The mask matched her outfit quite well. She put it on gingerly, carefully adjusting the straps behind her ears. She hoped she didn't look silly with both a mask and a flower crown on. Meanwhile, Gem introduced the new girl to Sophia and Kim.
Sage paid attention as Soph regaled them with their Firewalking adventures, grinning as she heard about the outcome. Kim would probably not take kindly to losing, was that why he looked so sullen? She'd assumed it took quite a bit to rattle the purple-haired boy, so whoever had dared to mess with him deserved a thumbs-up in her books. Though, she couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for Kim's state, however; he looked a bit worse for wear at the moment.
"Let's!" the taller girl offered her arm to Sophia and promptly led them to get materials for a flower crown. Not far away, there were many tubs of fresh blooms and leafy vines and decorative branchlets to choose from - she was curious about what designs everyone would come up with.
Sage waved politely to an upperclassman, asking permission to keep the unwanted stalks of flowers strewn about the table. The girl wanted to make bookmarks with them.

"Uh, I'm glad you two had a good time. It certainly sounds exciting." She cleared her throat; Sophia's mention of a certain "jerkwad" didn't need to derail her train of thought again. He didn't deserve to occupy such a large part of her mind, anyway!
She settled for watching as Sophia and Akemi made their introductions. She grinned, happy that everyone was getting along. With the exception of Kim, of course. Well, he could brood and pout all he wanted, but he wasn't going to get a reaction out of her. Just then Gem finally noticed the gauze wrapped around his hand. Something that looked suspiciously like the edge of a burn peeked out from under the bandage.
But before she could ask him about it, he trotted off to the flower section. Gemima huffed and scurried after him as the others followed suit. "Wait for me!"
Finally, an artistic activity! Gem felt positively giddy with excitement. She wasted no time snatching the perfect flowers for her crown. A couple of day lilies, some asters, a bit of campion...
Her fingers almost became a blur as she wove the stems and leaves together. Her tongue poked out of the side of her mouth in deep concentration. She wanted to do this properly!
Finally, she stepped back, and proudly held her creation aloft. It was a beautiful wreath of purple and white wildflowers, with most of the flora hailing from her coastal home. All together, the crown was simple, yet elegant. Gemima carefully placed it on her head, threading some of the stems into her bun in order to keep the thing secure.
She sighed contentedly, and then scooted over to see what the others were doing. "I can help, if you're struggling on what to choose," she chirped, "Not to brag, but I know a bit about flowers and such."
"What do you think?" she asked Sophia, gently nudging her with her shoulder. She beamed and bounced on her heels. "I feel so pretty right now!"【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】Action: Making a flower crown with her friendsInteracting: @Sophia Nelson | @Kim Sato | @Akemi Yamamoto | @Sage Lilly
