Closed An Adventure! PV Nick Lemond

Nick had been to London a fair few times, Birmingham his hometown only being a few hours away meant they occasionally would make the trip over just to see the place. But now that he was hitting the age of Hogwarts he was also hitting the point at which his parents didn't mind him traveling around by himself. He found himself wandering about while his parents attended some meeting in a village they had never been to, something about his father possibly representing this person in court...Nick tried to stay out of the specifics of his fathers job.

Nick checked his watch just to keep an eye on the time, looking up however he saw something rather peculiar. A girl most likely around his age was climbing a tree, she made it a little ways up before plopping down on a branch and looking about. Nick made his way toward the tree, the girl either not noticing his approach or just ignoring it.

"Hey, you having fun up there?" Nick asked addressing the girl. "Make sure ya don't fall down, one of my friends broke his arm falling off a tree." Nick probably should have kept the short story to himself knowing that it may cause the girl some sort of fright, but it also was a joke more than anything, shed surely understand. Nonetheless Nick had made his way towards the base of the tree, leaning on the base of it he waited for the girl to answer him, debating if he wanted to climb up as well. He didn't know who she was but Nick was always a fan of someone daring enough to climb a tree, it was something fun at least.

When Emily heard the voice she looked down and saw a boy. She listened to what he was saying. After he stopped Emily smiled at him and said,

"Hello! I'm always careful! And I always climb up trees. My cousin Senri is above me right now."

When she mentioned Senri's name she pointed up to where another boy was sitting on a tree branch and watching the two of them. Senri waved at them and Emily waved back. She then looked back at the boy and said,

"You see, if anything bad happens to me, Senri will know and he'll help me."

She then saw the look on the boys face and she knew he was debating so Emily said,

"Why don't you come here so we can talk better."

She waited for the boys reply. She started to swing her legs. She looked back up at her cousin to see him eating Pocky. Emily decided that she'd also eat some Pocky, so she took the box out and ate some Pocky while she waited for the boy to respond.

Emily and Senri both loved Pocky. You could say that the two of them are like siblings and they'd agree with you!

Nick smiled and waved back to Senri atop the tree, not even realizing the boy had been up there, only seeing the girl before him. Nonetheless he felt a little better knowing someone else had been around, though he was curious what would happen if one fell and the other fell trying to help, but that was an unlikely event. Yet the girl before him egged him on, saying that he could join her atop the tree branch, and who was Nick to back down from climbing a tree and enjoying some conversation.

And so he did, carefully climbing up the few branches that it took for the boy to reach the girl, it was easy enough as the branches of most trees got worse to climb up the further you went and she wasn’t too high. He sat next to the girl once he had made his way to her and began swinging his legs right along with her. It was a nice view even if the boy above had an even better one, something about being above the normal height of a child was always beautiful. Nick sat there feeling the wind that usually persisted around this time in london, the girls hair next to him would be flowing about as she actually had some, Nick more or less only feeling the nice breeze along his face.

“So what are you doing out here on this tree. This isn’t exactly a busy area of London, are you from around here?” The boy started, curious as to why the girl was sitting on a tree in a less occupied part of the big city. There was always a chance she lived nearby, but he got the impression that wasn’t the case for some reason.

When Emily saw Nick climb up to where she was she smiled. Senri looked down to see Emily and Nick both sitting together on the tree branch below him. He had a feeling that Emily and Nick would become friends pretty quick, and he hoped he was right.

During the silence Emily started to him quietly. Emily and Senri both continued to look at the view. When Emily heard Nick speak Emily stopped humming and she listened. After Nick stopped speaking, Emily looked up at Senri who nodded. Emily than said,

"We don't live that far from here. But the two of us haven't been here before. Also, we decided to come here cause we were board at home."

"Also, Emily thought it'd be nice for me to get out of the house and go for a walk since I sleep too much. So, I agreed and the two of us came here." Senri added.

Now that Emily introduced Senri to Nick, Senri was able to talk without scaring anyone. But after Senri stopped speaking he yawned. Emily noticed and said,

"Senri! Eat more Pocky!" Emily said hearing the yawn.

Senri who was already eating pocky, ate some more pocky. Pocky helps Senri with his hunger and whenever he's tired.

Nick was happy seeing the relationship between the two, having never had a sibling or a friend that was so close you could call them such meant he never really had any sort of relationship similar to what it seemed the two he was now meeting had. The little remark by Emily as he now knew her by was quite funny, demanding another person eat candy was interesting. Pocky was something Nick himself had never exactly ate on a regular basis, though he had to admit the banana one was quite delicious.

"Oh okay, that makes sense. Its nice to get out and about sometime, and its good for the brain too I think. Experiences make one wiser, or something like that." Nick followed after the girls demand to Senri. "My names Nick by the way, I've heard you two call each other by name so it'd be awkward if you didn't know mine I think. But dont worry Senri I dont blame you for sleeping a lot, its a lovely thing to do after all." Nick followed, hopefully making the boy at least feel somewhat better about himself.

"You said you're bored at home, what do you guys normally do at home? Anything fun?" Nick posed the question while looking out into the distance with the others, looking out you could see the gleam of the city lights, listening closely enough you could even hear the sound of the cars about randomly through the wind.

While Senri was eating Pocky he and Emily were looking at the view until they both heard Nick speak. Emily looked at Nick, but Senri continued to look at the view but he was also listening. After Nick stopped talking Emily and Senri both stayed quiet until Emily said,

"Yep! We have some trees at home, but we always climb them. So, we decided to come here and climb this tree!"

"It's nice meeting you, Nick. As you already know our names, since Em already said my name and she already introduced herself." Senri said after Emily spoke. Senri posed, then he added,

"I sleep all the time tho. I'm always tired for some odd reason. Em's aunt and my father don't like it at all."

Senri yawned again and he looked at the view still eating pocky until he ran out. He frowned but then he took out another box from his pocket and started to eat the new pocky. Emily heard Nick speak again, so she listened, after he stopped Emily thought about what to say before she answered saying,

"We hang out with my other cousins. Senri also chases me around. Senri and I always hang out in my room or in his room reading manga, watching anime, and eating pocky."

Nick was still staring out into the city as the trio hung around in the tree, focusing on trying to hear any of the buzzing sounds of the city. He had always loved the idea of living in a major city like London, sure Birmingham was massive in its own right hosting a large population of people itself, but it was no London.

The duo that Nick had end up running into were an interesting pair, functioning almost like they were rarely apart, two minds cut from the same cloth or something of the sort, he didn't mind it but part of him was curious what the two would be like away from each other considering how the two effortlessly seemed to rebound off of each other, it made sense that one would chase the other, or that they would hang out with other family. Seemed like the two were probably always together.

"I could see why its scary for you to sleep all the time to your parents, generally its not the greatest thing, but it also is nice to be able to be lazy too." Nick finished with a chuckle, admiring the times he had breaks, essentially just when he wasn't actively playing baseball, a rare time of year. "But thats cool, I don't really have any family around me to visit, not that we ever would anyway, my parents don't like their family." It was as true as a statement could be, but Nick tried to not think about it too long.

The two cousins continued looking at the view in silence. Occasionally there would be yawns from Senri and the sound of eating Pocky from both of them. But the silence stopped when Nick spoke. So the two of them listened until he stopped. Senri then said,

"Its hard for me to not sleep in the morning and for me to try and sleep at night. U see I'm at night person. I love the night but I hate the morning."

Emily knew that Senri was hiding his secret so Emily decided to do the same. When Nick started talking again, the two listened until he stopped, then Emily said,

"Oh, thats sad. D'you mind telling us why? I mean we dont get along with my aunt and Senri's father at all. Their too mean to me sometimes. This is why I hang out with Senri a lot."

Emily was truthful with what she just said. She didn't know when to tell Nick her two secrets. But she decided to ask anyway, cause Senri nodded his head when she mouthed to see if she could tell Nick. So, Emily decided to say,

Hey, Nick. D'you wanna hear a secret? Well actually two secrets? Senri's letting me tell you. So I will if you want me too."

Emily hopped that he wanted to hear the two secrets, but she didnt know if he actually did or not.

Nick could understand being a night person, he had always been one to stay up later than most his age, preferring reading with his windows open at night with the night sky peeking through, something about that setting just always made reading more enjoyable to him. It had however created a consequence in which the boy was constantly sleeping too little as he had either school or baseball every morning, but he learned to manage. But he nodded along understanding the boy's feelings.

Nick didn't exactly mind talking about why he wasn't around the rest of his family, to others such as his parents it was probably a much more sensitive issue. For Nick however he had never really grown up around them so it never seemed like he was really missing them.

"For the most part the rest of my family aren't the greatest people. Mean people or just people my parents didn't want me to grow up around so they moved away when I was born. Ive seen them rarely but I don't mind. I trust my parents enough" Nick said still staring out at the city.

He was interested in what these secrets were, it wasn't common for people to commonly give out their secrets, though kids generally did tell them more than adults. He knew plenty of times his parents kept secrets from him or others. Maybe the girl felt like she could trust him, he wasn't sure. He always felt like an approachable person.

"Sure, I would love to hear them if you want to share them. But you dont have to. Its up to you." Nick said as he looked down at the ground, casually swinging his legs while he sat on the branch.
