There were too many bodies.

Too many bodies in the room. There were too many bodies in the room, it was so hot in here.

The mantra played around inside his head and wouldn't leave him alone. Kim tried to ignore it as best as he could and attempted to focus on just Willow. If he pretended as if he and Willow were alone, maybe it would be better and he could trick his mind into thinking everything was fine. Josephine greeted him and Kim nodded to her, before she started talking to someone next to her. Someone who looked to be his height with an interesting looking ear.

He also had chestnut brown hair Pierre. It was around this time that Kim noticed that Evelynn was present at Willow's table. Only because she'd spoken up after him. Usually, he would have realized beforehand, as Kim tended to be quite perceptive. But as it was, the intense crowds were making him feel as if he'd lost his equilibrium. The prefect's questions were well thought out and Kim found himself wondering about Willow's response to them all.

Kim listened as everyone put their own questions to Willow.

He idly wondered if she felt overwhelmed by all the incoming interest and questions.

Or was it just something that tended to happen to him? As Pax looked back over their shoulder at him and asked what the shoulder pat had been for, Kim raised a brow. Did he really need to explain it? If Pax continued to seem as if they wanted to know, he'd tell them later. But for now, he simply shook his head. And then they did something completely unexpected and hugged him, also thanking him at the same time. Kim's breathing quickened.

What - ???

He blinked and his form tensed even more than it already was.

Then, Pax had the nerve to state they were now friends and turned their attention back to Willow. Kim stared at them and then let out a sigh as he also returned his attention to the girl before them. Yet another girl, Judith one he wasn't yet familiar with, began to speak. She apparently was from a different religion. Kim listened to her with interest and then tilted his head to the side. "What religion is that?" The pink haired boy asked, curious about it all.

MENTIONING @Willow Anderson, @Pax Zhang, @Judith Cohen
Naturally, Evelynn wasn't the only individual curious to learn more about Anderson's faith and beliefs; after all, it was the crowd that had drawn her attention in the first place. Fortunately, neither was she the only intellectual to be found encircling the Hufflepuff and she found her own curiosity piqued further by the additional questions posed by her own co-captain. An approving glance was cast in Zhang's direction, although they would apparently find themselves momentarily distracted by one of the other lions present.

Turning back to Anderson expectantly, the girl would hardly have a moment to consolidate nevermind begin to have a chance to answer the growing number of questions before another girl would take her moment on the proverbial podium. Lips drew to a thinning line as the prefect cast the upstart (Judith) her expressionless gaze. Silence would be afforded the younger student for the duration of her speech, but not enthusiastically. Clearly the girl had left out explanation on the critical rights of passage where they learned to prattle without breath and forsake propriety for attention. Evelynn suddenly felt herself wishing she had been accompanied by Bellamy so she could quietly utter just that.

But alas, she was quite alone, keep her notions well to herself. At the very least, she could tread in the interest of common knowledge and respond to one of the questions raised. "It is Judaism," Evelynn answered confidently, recognizing most of what had been mentioned.

After all, her own beliefs and religion were once rooted in Judaism long ago before the two diverged. But that was all that she would say. While she had only recently arrived, she was already finding it rather difficult to be present in this event. Natural inclination was to engage in debate and discussion which seemed contrary to the simple environment of absorbing and asking questions that appeared to be being promoted. She was curious, though, but that thirst for knowledge would direct her attention right back on to Anderson of whose belief she was entirely ignorant.

Placing Willow's book back on the table for others to look over, AngelFyre looked over at Willow and mouthed a 'Thank you' . She had listened to all that Willow had said with rapt attention and it was quite informative. She answered one of the two main questions AngelFyre had had regarding Wicca which was the idea of a deity, or lack thereof. It made sense to AngelFyre as Willow explained it, and it sounded quite fascinating. When she had finished, folks immediately shot questions at her. One sounded as if it had come from Kim, wanting to know which of the holidays was Willow's favorite.

The second question came from a Gryffindor AngelFyre did not know but had seen occasionally practicing on the Quidditch Pitch. She wanted to know how Willow reconciled her religious beliefs with the in-your-face realization that real magic existed? THAT was the second, and really, the most important question AngelFyre had. In fact, that question was a good one for anyone practicing their faith as a witch or wizard. It was a load to carry everyday in her own life. Magic and her faith butted up against each other more times than she could count, and there was a lot of friction sometimes. In fact, it felt more and more often as if they were each wearing boxers trunks and coming at each other from the corners of a boxing ring when a bell would sound.

If there were any answers or discussions as to how different people had been able to reconcile the two, AngelFyre would be all ears.

Tugging on the ends of her sleeves, Serena rocked herself back and forth a little on her heels as she exhaled. A lot of things had happened over the past few months and it was getting to the point where just socialising with others was getting stressful. Not intentionally so. But rather, she had no idea where she stood with a lot of people and in turn, it made her question their motives or behaviour. Today, however, was supposed to be a good day. It was all about cooperation and positivity from what she had heard and that was why she was Serena.

If nothing else, Serena wanted to cooperate and fester good, positive relationships with everyone. It just seemed like others did not want that. Not every day was a bad day. Most were okay, in fact. Those few bad days, however, kind of ruined the rest of the week or month for her. It was just hard staying positive and being friendly when you felt that everyone would hate the real you.

Shaking her head to herself, she muttered something along the lines of "I'm just overthinking this, aren't I?" to herself. Or perhaps it was to Pizza Rat, who sat proudly on her shoulder. He did not answer though or even acknowledge her words in any way. Who knew if he had heard it? Deciding she was simply thinking too much, Serena exhaled loudly before continuing to walk. Entering the Great Hall as confidently as she could - which was not very confidently, admittedly - Serena looked around. She kept her head straight and her shoulders back, trying to look far more confident than she felt.

Her gaze took in the set-up. There were a few snacks from what she could see and she was immediately drawn to them. Serena helped herself to a glass of lemonade and a pumpkin pastry before wondering where to go. She did not really have anyone to join and most people seemed to be in a conversation already with others. Would it be rude of her to interrupt them all of a sudden? Perhaps she ought to look for some familiar faces and go from there?

Serena looked around awkwardly, trying to figure out where to go from here. Deciding to sit down by herself, since she had no idea where to go, she put the glass and plate holding the pastry down. With that, she took out some items that she had brought to represent her own religion.

She was not very religious, by any means and she did not know much about her religion - other than a few stories that her gran had told her over the years. However, she had some small items, like a book and a necklace with a religious symbol as its pendant. Not wanting to interrupt, she just kept her items out and left them on the table so if anyone wanted to interact with her, they could. For now, she started to read her book. It was called Ganesha's Sweet Tooth and it was currently adorable, in her eyes.

It seemed like people were receptive to the... lecture? And had actually asked a few questions, the first coming from Kim. "Oh gosh, my favorite? That's really hard... Honestly, Beltane is my favorite. We go into London and celebrate with a whole bunch of covens in the area and it's just this huge beautiful celebration. It's a lot of fun." One of the greatest losses of going to a boarding school like Hogwarts was missing out on all the holidays that they would travel to London for. But eventually she'd be able to participate again.

Next was Evelynn, who she felt a bit awkward about since the Valentine's Day event but now was not the time to think about it. "That was really hard. I didn't actually touch on it. In first year I kind of thought that I had to keep them separate, eventually I'd have to choose one over the other. But I've found that's not true. Part of the belief is casting magic and spells, but a lot of it is based in respect for the energies of the world. Altering them to help you in whatever you need to do, like good grades, or an upcoming opportunity or something. So they help in my life in completely different ways. These days I still practice Wicca, but with a shifted perspective of paying a lot more respect to my Goddess and God and the world around me. I've been able to have my eyes opened to a lot more of how beautiful the world is, how much nature provides. So- I use my like- I call it wand magic to differentiate more than my Wiccan magic most of the time." She smiled at Evelynn before shifting her attention to Pax who spoke next.

"I was brought up Wiccan! My grandma was the first person in our lineage, to our knowledge, to pick it up. My mom was born into it, and so was I. My dad got into it as an adult. All eight holidays are important, my family believes there's no holiday that's lesser than the others because they're all important to the cycle. But there's no- reason I guess? To believe in the Horned God and the Moon Goddess, she's not pregnant the whole cycle. I don't know, whenever I pray to them I feel comfort and love. Like I'm being wrapped in a warm hug. The reason is because I believe they exist. I've never thought about the reason, if I think of something else I'll owl you. But my favorite thing? Would have to be spell work. It's like meditation to me. There's a process and ritual to it, much longer than the spellcasting we learn here. I know spells that take a couple hours of active work to cast, some take like- two minutes. But I really enjoy that."

Thank goodness, Judith took over for a minute. Talking through her holidays. Willow nodded absent mindedly, trying to show that she was listening. It was a lot, but having this many holidays throughout the year was nice, at least for Willow. It made it where there was always something to celebrate. "We should celebrate one of these days together. When there's a holiday happening that we can't participate in. I'm sure one of ours overlap somewhere. But maybe it would be nice? So then we wouldn't be alone in celebrating and we could show each other what it's like?"

Quite the crowd had grown around them, and she looked around at all the people who had been asking lovely questions and seemed genuinely interested. She saw Serena enter, an older Hufflepuff she admired. "Serena come join us!" She waved her over, not wanting her to feel left out. "I just finished talking about Wicca, and Judith talked about Judaic holidays." She regarded everyone else who had been asking questions and listening for the most part. "Does anyone want to take a turn talking about their beliefs? Or- Uh- Maybe there are more questions? I don't want to put anyone on the spot, but I don't want to only talk about Wicca. If you guys have other beliefs!"

It was a bit of surprise when notes were pulled out from the boy in front of her. He had come quite prepared for a presentation. If there was a public speaking class he would get full marks. She listened attentively, not knowing much about the intricacies of Christianity and happy to learn. Once he finished, Farron couldn't help but politely clap. It was very well delivered. "Were you raised, I'm assuming from your speech, Roman Catholic? And do you find it hard to practice magic alongside practicing your religion? I know for some it can be hard."

Another girl joined them, a gentle invitation coming from Marius. "Ah hello Beatrice! I see you also brought notes, I'm sure we'd be happy to listen." She nodded to Marius. "He just finished teaching me about Christianity, I would be happy to hear about anything you'd like to talk about."

Farron was interested in the mix of Catholicism and Wicca, so much so she craned her neck to also get a peek at the notes, wanting to be included. She couldn't help but smile at the girl getting ahead of herself, the people who attended were all excited to talk about something that was important to them. So much so they ran out of breath apparently. "Take your time, we are in no rush. Now, is it your Nan on your mum's side or dad's side?" Farron folded her hands on the table, trying to show genuine interest to the two that were sitting with her. She honestly didn't think she'd be able to talk to anyone, the students still being skittish around her but this had turned out pleasantly well.

Okay it seemed better now.

As long as he wasn't sitting at a crowded table with lots of people around him.

Since he was currently standing, which allowed him to move should he feel the need to do so, it gave Kim a sense of not being trapped by newcomers. As such, it let him stay and listen to people talk for much longer than he normally would have been able to handle. Kim glanced over at Evelynn as the girl responded to his previous question. "Decipio." He said with a nod, greeting her with how she preferred to be referred to as. Yes, Kim had remembered this.

"Do you practice this Judaism?" He inquired, curious. "Or do you just know about it?" It had to be one of the two. Or so he thought that is. Kim's attention returned to Willow as she responded to his earlier question. Ah, so Beltane was her favorite? She described her reason and he nodded. It sounded like fun and he was sure they would probably end up learning quite a lot during their gatherings. He kind of wanted to experience Samhain a little.

That was more his style.

As Willow responded to Evelynn's question, Kim regarded her as she spoke her thoughts.

The higher year suddenly raised her voice to call over another girl, by the name of Serena. Kim glanced around to spot an older girl with black hair, reading a book with a plate on the table. The plate had some sweets on it and the book looked like... yes, he could just barely make out the title. Something having to do with sweets! Kim couldn't help but instantly become interested! When she came over, if she did, he would have to ask her about the book.

Serena started to flip through the book quietly to herself as she ate the pastry she had picked up earlier. The book was about Ganesha - a Hindu god recognisable by his elephant head - as a young child and how he loved his sweets. It told a story of how his tusk broke off, though she was not entirely sure if this was based on a story Hindus actually believed was true or if it was just a made up cute little story for the God and helping young people to find the stories fascinating. However, the stories of the Gods and Goddesses did always teach something valuable, and this one was no different in that regard. It also had very cute imagery, which she appreciated.

As she was flipping through the book, quietly just reading to herself, she heard her name. Looking up, she noticed Willow sitting not too far away with a group of people. She did not know the group well but she had seen some of them around the school. With a nod and a smile, she got up and swept one of her hands across the table, sweeping the items into her other hand to grab them. Grabbing her bag too, she made her way over, "Hey! Oh, yeah, sure!" She said as she approached the table. Serena had missed the conversation earlier and thus, would have liked to hear a bit about Wicca if Willow was up for it. But she also did not want to pressure her into talking, if she wanted to give others the floor to discuss their beliefs.

Finding a free spot, Serena placed her items down on the table and seated herself down, "I'm Serena, by the way," She introduced herself to those she did not know before motioning to the items. There was a book called Ganesha's Sweet Tooth as well as a necklace with an 'aum' pendant on it. She had also brought some pendants of two different gods - Krishna and Shiva - that hung off her bag too, kind of like keyrings but she did not have keys.

"I'm not super religious but I found all of these things that my family gave me. They are about Hinduism so I could probably talk a little about that, if you guys wanted. Not really sure what you might want to know though but uh, this is a symbol for Hinduism-" She said, pushing forward the pendant, "and it's like pronounced like 'a-um' but I think it can be spelt like either a-u-m or o-m. And uhh it's like the universal sound of peace, I guess? Like if we're praying, we might start by saying 'auuuuuum' for a long breath, yanno?" Serena tried to explain it as best as possible, "And this is a book about a God called Ganesha and uh these are other pendants of different Gods. So uh, yeah. If anyone's interested," Serena mumbled, giving a little bit of information about the religion without overwhelming people with too much unless they asked for it.

Looking towards Willow, she continued, "I wouldn't mind learning a bit about Wicca though. I don't wanna make you have to repeat yourself but I don't really know much about it so, I guess, it would be nice to learn a bit?"

Judith turned around when someone suddenly asked what religion she was talking about. "Judaism! I'm born in a Modern Orthodox family, mom's Jewish, dad's half-goblin, so he kinda converted? So he's a ball teshuvah, but we do things that other usual Orthodox families wouldn't, we are more traditional than religious and like we were Talit (prayer shawl) as women which aren't usually done, well i do it, my mom doesn't. But altho i am probably more religious in some way than her, I pray more and observe some stuff more than she does, but a jew is a jew is a jew I'd say!"

She turned back around to Willow, listening to what she had to say. she loved the idea of celebrating holidays together with her. Yes, we can definitely do that! Well, I'd have some restrictions, since i can't observe a religious holiday that isn't included in Judaism, but when I'm invited I'm always allowed to attend it! Next year, we should definitely celebrate Chanukah together! I' have to bring some dreidels from home this summer, oeh and a chanukiah! " Judith said, brainstorming excited over the idea. Sophia was overwhelmed once more, though she found that daydreaming of a place with less people helped her to keep her wits about her. However, this also had the horrible consequence of making Sophia tune out the very people around her. It felt very rude, but she had to do what she had to do.

Kim, as far as Sophia could tell, wasn't handling it nearly as well. He was maintaining his composure, sure, and he was even chatting up some people, but she could see what most probably couldn't. A single flicker in his eyes that screamed 'get me out of here.' Spending so much time with Kim over the past year had had some effect on her ability to read him, after all.

She could be the one to rescue him for once, but she'd need to be careful if she wanted to do so without making a fool of them both, or, worse, just embarrassing Kim. What could she do, though? An idea struck her, but she wasn't sure about it. It could be embarrassing. Then again, she had no pride in herself, so she didn't much care.

Steeling her resolve, she decided to go for it. She didn't care if anyone knew she liked Kim anyway, since he already knew.

She walked closer to Kim before forcing herself to stumble, catching Kim's arm to steady herself.

"Oof!" she groaned as she held tightly onto his arm. She forced herself to look directly into his eyes, which helped her with her act, since she didn't even have to pretend to be mesmerized. Her own eyes widened and she could feel a blush creeping up, even though she knew this meant nothing.

"S-sorry, Kim," she breathed,"I- I was, j-just, uh-"

Now was the moment of truth. She let her words trail off, swaying dizzily in her spot.

She'd stumbled and lost feeling in her legs plenty of times because of Kim, so to do it once on purpose would be easy. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Letting go of Kim's arm, she allowed herself to fall into him.

Now she just had to hope he'd catch her.
