Marie Emerson, First Year, Slytherin

Appearance || Marie is a willowy girl, tall and slender, with a regal posture. Standing at 5'1" she is significantly taller than most girls her age and while this has been an object that many others have tried to humiliate her for she still walks tall, her head held high. Taking more after her father she has his same reddish-brown hair which falls just past her shoulders and most often tied into a ponytail with a ribbon as well as his light splay of freckles dotting her soft face. She does however have her mother's hazel-green eyes and pale parlour, though the similarities end there.


History || Marie was born and raised in Cambridge, England, the only child to the newlywed couple Wesley and Katherine Emerson. The newborn was the first in her family to be a half-blood, her mother being the first of her bloodline to ever marry a muggle. As you can imagine this didn't settle well with the rest of her mother's family and consequentially she was disowned, thus Marie grew up never knowing of her non-muggle relatives. Perhaps it was for the best though.

As she grew up Marie never showed any signs of magic or any abnormalities, well besides her own headstrong personality, and so she was raised like any other child. She never minded it either, on account of her mother keeping her life previous to Marie's birth a secret, Marie never had reason to question her muggle upbringing.

That is, until her ninth birthday party incident. Marie's father was an Archeologist and thus he was often traveling for work and her mother was an English Professor who also sadly traveled often for her work, leaving Marie in the care of her muggle grandparents. Well the day had rolled up that she was to turn nine and while her parents had promised to make it to the party they coincidentally couldn't make it. Her dad's flight had been delayed due to an incoming sandstorm and her mother, being the air-head she was, had booked the wrong flight. The young girl was understandably upset and for each passing hour her mood only worsened as her grandparents tried hopelessly to cheer her up. Finally when they'd brought out the cake, a quite obviously sugary pink confection she could only guess was strawberry flavored, she'd had enough. In a sudden fit of anger she wished nothing more than to hurl that cake into the wall.. and so it did. Well the ceiling more precisely, it flew up with a sudden and great force, splattering across the room much to Marie and her grandparent's disbelief.


Needless to say after getting a rather concerned call from the elderly couple her parents raced home to calm the situation and explain to Marie the parts of her heritage that she'd been kept hidden from. Since that point the young girl found something far more interesting than dolls and tea parties to invest her time into, magic. When the letter came in the post inviting her to Hogwarts she was ecstatic.

Now as a first year in Hogwarts, Marie has been sorted into the Slytherin house just as those of her pure-blooded family and while she'd been highly skeptical of her sortment, she could not deny her enthusiasm for her starting year

Personality || Marie seems to exude a dignified and confident air. The most notable thing about her is her peculiar curiosity and hunger for knowledge, which while are good qualities, most often these are the things that sadly get her into the most trouble. While she is a rather reclusive and tends to stick to herself, she often has no problems speaking her opinion if she feels inclined to. It is not easy for Marie to call someone her friend, and even harder for her to make friends with her headstrong attitude, but if you ever find yourself in her good graces she's one of the most loyal and selfless people you'll meet.
