Catching Up
Serena had decided to enjoy the nice weather today. It was sunny with a nice breeze. The third-year was trying to complete her homework for Defense Against the Dark Arts. She needed to get her homework done soon because it was due in a few days. Unfortunately, Serena was a bit of a procrastinator when it came to assignments. She thought that going outside instead of working in the library or the Hufflepuff Common Room would be better for her, but she kept getting distracted by either people passing by or her own thoughts.
She was currently thinking about an event that had happened in her first year. The recent Blossom Ball had made her think of it. Back in her first year, the event was canceled, but a group of students had decided to host a secret one anyway. Serena had decided to go with a boy in her year, Damion White. At first, the night had gone well, but then, as usual for this school, disaster struck. She was so shocked by what had happened that night that she hadn't been to a school dance since, and she had hardly spoken to Damion since that night, except for the occasional hello here and there.
It wasn't that Serena didn't want to talk to Damion anymore; really, she did. It was just that she felt a bit embarrassed at her reaction at the end of the night when she ran away without even checking to see if her date was alright. Thinking back on it, Serena really wanted to apologize for that night and continue growing their relationship, whether that was just as friends or something more. But it had been almost two years since the incident, and she wasn't sure if it was too late.
Sighing, Serena put her homework away. It was clear that she was not going to be able to get anything done at the moment, so what was the point of trying to force herself to work on it any longer? Looking out across the Courtyard, Serena began to people watch, hoping that that would distract her from her thoughts.

384──────────────────────────────────────────── Damii had decided that he would go out in the courtyard. He didn’t want to spend all his time in the dorms. He wanted to be out there and be there with his friends. He had missed his friends and had not been able to spend that much time with his friends. He was blaming it all on his studies. Partly that was true but partly it was because of him being busy with other things. He didn’t have time to catch up. But now he was wanting to do that. He wanted to spend more time with his friends. He wanted to meet his friends and have a good time.
Damii was not thinking about what had happened at the ball in the first year. He was not trying to let his thoughts pass him by. He didn’t want to think what had happened at the ball. He had worn something very pretty for the ball. He had not thought about it in a while. He wanted to let Dyl know about it but he had forgotten to message him. But he was happy to know that Dyl was doing well. He looked around as he walked towards the Courtyard. He looked around and smiled. He was talking to Serena here and there. He didn’t want to abandon contact from her. He liked her a little. He was developing a crush on her. And wanted to keep his friendship with her.
Damii was not upset with her for running away that night; one night on the Blossom Ball. He didn’t think much about it. He didn’t want to think about it. He didn’t think anything bad about her leaving him. He had run away himself. He had not searched for his friend either. He didn’t know how she was. He didn’t want to think about it. He wanted to keep his friendship intact. So he would make an effort about meeting with her.
Damii looked around and noticed that Serena was there. He ran towards her. And said "Serena. Hi. Long time no see." He smiled and hugged her. He was very happy that he was meeting his friend after a long time. "How have you been?" He asked with a smile. "I hope you are doing good." He added after a pause.

Almost as if her thoughts had summoned him, Serena quickly saw Damion at the courtyard. She gave him a small wave as he ran over to her. She smiled.
“Hey, Damion! Yeah, it has been a long time, hasn’t it?” Serena was going to say more when Damion surprised her by hugging her. For a split second, she froze before wrapping her arms around him and hugging him back.
She couldn’t stop herself from blushing. Yes, she had a crush on the Ravenclaw boy. And hugging him was, well, it was very nice. Serena was hoping that maybe they could hug more often.
Serena then realized that they were still hugging, so she stepped back. She began blushing again when he said that he hoped she was doing good.
“Oh, I’ve been pretty good, I guess. Not much has happened lately besides school and Quidditch.” After she said that, Serena realized just how boring that sounded. But, to be honest, it was kind of nice to have a quiet year, especially after how her first year had gone.
“At least it’s been a lot calmer than first year, though… Speaking of which, I, uh, I’m sorry about just kind of…leaving you there after the Blossom Ball. I just didn’t really know what to do, you know?”
Serena cleared her throat, feeling a bit awkward after admitting that. But, she also felt a bit of the guilt lifting off of her chest. Maybe things could be less awkward between them now, and she and Damion could become even closer. Unless he secretly hated her. But, Serena tried to rationalize that that wouldn’t make any sense. He had just hugged her, after all.
“Um, anyway, how about you? Are you doing good?” Serena asked, quickly changing the subject.

403──────────────────────────────────────────── Damion had not thought much about meeting his friends. He had been busy lately. He didn’t want to be that busy with things. He looked around as he made his way to the Courtyard. He was not going to keep giving people the same excuse that he was very busy. He should have made an effort to meet his friends.
He smiled as he walked to her and hugged her. "Yes it has been. I am sorry I didn’t contact you earlier." He said looking at her. "I missed you very much." He said rubbing the back of his neck.
He looked at her and smiled. He noticed her blush but didn’t say a thing about it. He was not himself sure how he felt for the girl. He looked at her as he smiled again. He was not sure what he was supposed to do.
He looked at her as she walked away from the hug. He did want to keep hugging her but he was not going to force her to do it. He noticed her blush again and didn’t say a thing about it.
"Oh so you are also in the Quidditch Team?" He asked. "I am in my house’s Quidditch Team." He added softly. He looked at her and smiled. "I hope we are not against each other. And even if we are it’s just a game." He said. "I am very sure someday we would go head to head against each other." He said.
"Yeah it is calmer." He smiled. "I forgive you for leaving me after the Blossom Ball. I am sure I forgive you." He said. "Please don’t think about it anymore." He said. "It’s in the past and we can’t do anything about it anymore. Just forget about it." He said.
Damion looked at her and smiled. He was not sure what else he could say. He had forgiven her for abandoning him. He didn’t hold any grudges against her. He in fact liked her. He wanted to confess that but he was not sure how to say it out loud. What would Dylan think about this? He wondered.
"I am good. My friend Dylan joined Durmstrang. I met him when he was visiting us." He said. "I am doing good thank you for asking." He said. "Can I confess something to you?" He asked a little nervously. "Ilikeyou." He said in a rushed manner.
