Sophia was not a morning person by any means. She had this strange peculiarity about her; if she slept under five hours, or over twelve hours, she felt amazing. If she slept anywhere between those timeframes, she felt horrible. It was a very odd type of Circadian Rhythm. Her Grandma slept eight hours every night, down to the minute, and she always acted chipper and happy. Her mother had been the same way. Her father had been unable to sleep less than ten hours without being cranky.

So, it could be said that sleep times were a very fickle thing in the Nelson family.

Some days, however, Sophia had no choice but to wake up in the 'danger zone' of her sleep pattern. Usually she had to do this because of a mild case of insomnia that she suffered from time to time. It didn't happen often, maybe every few weeks or even months, but when it did, it was known to happen several days in a row. Since coming to Hogwarts - and learning that there was usually a magical solution to just about everything - Sophia luckily discovered the solution in her advanced reading of the Potions curriculum: The Sleeping Draught. Now, whenever she felt the approach of her insomnia-based symptoms, she could usually brew a batch of Sleeping Draught fairly quickly, especially now that she had practice with the potion.

Today was one of those days. By the time Sophia had finally drifted off to an uneasy sleep, it had been somewhere between two and four in the morning, and the tossing and turning had been so bad that she'd reluctantly forced herself out of bed a bit before eight. She was exhausted, and she was at her wit's end.

Thus, she found herself on a Saturday morning, carrying her clean cauldron, using it as a makeshift satchel. Inside the cauldron were several phials, her copy of Magical Drafts and Potions, her scales, a bit of parchment, a quill, and even her wand. She'd unthinkingly left her robes in the girls' dorm, so she'd ended up carrying everything in the cauldron. Her stupid sweater and stupid skirt didn't even have pockets, after all. Boys didn't know how lucky they were.

Even on a good day, Sophia was quite clumsy. If they could talk, her shins would refer to most of the furniture in the Common Room as, 'an old friend.' Her face was no stranger to the floor either, for that matter. When one factored in a severe lack of sleep, well, her clumsiness multiplied. She would find that her legs were tired, and she would even drag her feet without even noticing.

Today was no different. It was such a simple thing. Her shoe had dragged only slightly on the smooth, cold floor of the Dungeons on the way to the Potions classroom. Before she'd known it, she was experiencing a familiar falling sensation, with the ceiling quickly coming into view. Her cauldron was no longer steadily in her hands, and she could already hear the sound of her supplies escaping the container.

She let out a loud squeal.

"Gahhhhhhhhhh!"

So far things seemed to be going fairly well at Hogwarts.

Hiro was making lots of friends and getting closer to the ones he already had too.

It was kind of nice and part of him wondered if he could simply make this facade real. But then again, there were a lot of people, back at Mahoutokoro, who got really annoyed by him and his attitude. The main reason was how he addressed others, as it was not the respectful way to do so. But that wouldn't change about Hiro. There was a reason why he tended to call everyone by their first names. And it wasn't because he liked being disrespectful to them.

Not that he would tell anyone this.

Hiro wasn't the type of person who told his personal life stories to others.

That is, unless it happened to be a rather funny story to relate. But things were different here at Hogwarts. Students at this place weren't like the ones back at Mahoutokoro. Everyone seemed fine calling others by their first names. He thought about the people he'd met so far at Hogwarts. There were quite a few and he'd only been there for around a week now. Yesterday, he'd saved a girl called Shanelle from a giant squid's tentacles at the Great Lake.

Before that, he'd met Alqwyn reading some books at the library who had looked quite bored at the time. And then he'd tried to help Alec who had spilled some ink on his papers and gotten called a pygmy puff for what had been around the third time. But the joke was on him and the others. Hiro actually liked pygmy puffs. He'd even considered getting one but had decided against it for now. After all, Hiro wasn't sure if he could handle taking care of a pet.

Not with all the running about he liked to do.

And he'd feel guilty if he left it at his room all the time. Today was the start of a new day.

Hiro tilted his head to the side, easing out some kinks. The boy was dressed in pastel pink clothes with white slacks. It was quite a fashionable look, much like him.

Checking his reflection in the mirror the cabin provided for him, Hiro made his way out of the solo room he'd chosen and went over to the door next to him, to place his head on the wood there. Even though his ear was pressed up against the door, he couldn't hear anything from the inside. Without a pair of Extendable Ears or some legwork, he wouldn't be able to tell if Mathias was inside or not. He'd check back later on. Time to meet new people again!

Hiro headed out of the cabin and walked over to where the castle was.

The last time he'd met people at the Great Hall, where they served meals. Therefore, it seemed to be a great place to return to again. What he didn't count on was running into a frazzled looking girl who asked him for a favor. "Sure! What is it?" Hiro said with a smile. Even though he didn't know her and she didn't know him, he was always up to help out others. She told him to go down to the dungeons and grab a cauldron with vials, a set of scales and some books inside it. There should only be one down there with those things in it.

The girl also told him that she'd wait for him directly outside the Great Hall doors within fifteen minutes and then dashed away to take care of whatever business she had to do. Hiro shook his head as he watched her sprint off and then turned around to head out the doors. The dungeon huh? He hadn't been down there before but there was a first time for everything and he was kind of curious to know what the place looked like. Well, he was going to find out!

A set of winding stairs was seen upon entry into the dungeon.

Hiro eyed them before starting down them, wondering if anyone would be there.

Wouldn't that be fun to run into a new face down there? But then again, it was pretty early, so probably not. It was only when Hiro was descending the stairs that he suddenly heard a loud squeal and rounded the corner just in time to see a girl with red hair holding a cauldron piled high with material. She was in the midst of falling backward down the stairs, which could be dangerous. Not to mention the cauldron dropping too. If that happened to land on her head...

Hiro rushed over and managed to get directly behind her before she could fall down the stairs. The beater's reflexes kicked in and he managed to catch the vials and scales too, along with gracefully catching the girl herself as well with one arm. He wasn't holding her but was instead supporting her with his arm. The redhead's back was literally leaning back against his arm that was preventing her from falling down the stairs. "Whoa, careful there, Red!"

He exclaimed, looking down at her from above.

She kind of looked cute.

Hiro raised his arm up, to protect his face and head, just as the cauldron came down making contact with the side of his arm. He winced but was able to bear the pain, as being a Quidditch player made him used to hard strikes. The boy was just glad it had been his arm and not any part of the girl's body. A book, some parchment, a quill and a wand fell out of the cauldron, as it settled on the stairs a few steps away. All in all, the girl had been rather lucky.

Out of all the items she'd carried in the cauldron, the breakable things had been caught beforehand. Other than her wand but wands were usually pretty durable when it came to simple falls like this. Regarding the cauldron, thankfully it hadn't fallen all the way down the stairs, so she wouldn't need to go back down to the bottom of the stairs again. "How did you fall like that? You should take your time on stairs, they're pretty tricky when you rush." Hiro told her with a smile, still holding her vials and scales in his one free hand.

And the girl with his other.

"Oh and you can get up now if you want. Unless you want to stay like this." Hiro said with a grin, wondering how the girl would react to his words.

Sophia's life was flashing before her eyes. She was about to die. She was sure of it. She wasn't too worried. Because of her devout Catholicism, she was confident that even in death, she would be totally fine, but that didn't mean she wanted this to happen. Watching her life flash before her eyes was traumatic, and surprisingly pink.

Actually, now that she thought about it, seeing her life flash before her eyes wouldn't actually involve the ceiling of the dungeon. It also wouldn't involve a very, very pretty boy staring intently into her eyes and smiling. The only part of this situation that could possibly match her life flashing before her eyes was the fact that various belongings of hers were scattered across the floor as she lost her balance.

So she was alive. That was certainly a wonderful thing. She let out a sigh of relief and smiled back at the face that was captivating her so.

"How did you fall like that? You should take your time on stairs, they're pretty tricky when you rush."

"I, uh, I don't, uh," Sophia began lamely, unable to find an explanation as she found herself lost in this stranger's intense stare and blindingly pink hair. He was amazing. He was fantastic. He was.... holding her. In one, strong arm. She blushed a bit, but she knew it didn't mean anything. Kim had held her like that first, and it had felt way different than this.

This boy wasn't a deviant, grabbing innocent young women with his stupid strong arms. This boy was a hero. He'd saved her. Though the blush was stubbornly remaining fixed on her cheeks, she felt less flustered and more in awe.

"Oh and you can get up now if you want. Unless you want to stay like this."

Sophia knew he was right. She should stand. Thank him. Say something. But her lips were sealed against her will, and her legs felt like jelly. After a moment, though she was still unable to stand properly on her own, she managed to mutter a soft, "My Hero."

She finally took a deep breath and stood properly, though her legs were still wobbly. She crouched to pick up her cauldron and snatched the vials and scales from this pink Hero's hands, careful not to actually come into physical contact with his hands. She didn't want any more physical contact with anyone for a while.

She began to scoop up the rest of her items, placing them carefully inside her cauldron as she had before. She was certainly awake now.

"I'm actually going to the Potions classroom," she said slowly, deliberately. Otherwise, she'd trip all over the words. She carefully introduced herself, "I'm Sophia. Wanna come?"

She hadn't the slightest clue why she'd invited the boy to come with her to the classroom, but somehow the desire to spend time with him was her first instinct, so she went with it. After all, hadn't a similar instinct led to her friendship with Sage, and with Kim? Even with Gem, if she considered the fact that her instincts had told her to talk to the girl after the owl kerfuffle.

Yes. Spending time with this boy was something she wanted to do.

Sophia's initial response made Hiro smile.

He liked her stutter, it was adorable. But he wouldn't tease her about it right now.

After all, it wasn't the time of the place to do so. Sophia continued to lean back against his arm and even started to blush, which made Hiro feel a little awkward too.

She was looking up at him and not saying anything, or even moving, and he wasn't entirely sure how to respond to this. But before he could say or do a single thing, the girl's lips parted and his name was breathed out of her mouth. "Oh, you know my name already?" Hiro asked with a blindingly brilliant smile. He supposed it wasn't surprising, as he'd been trying to meet tons of Hogwarts students lately over the past few days. But this was the first time.

The first time that someone had actually known his name when he met them for the first time. Hiro kind of liked it. As Sophia seemed to finally recover and got to her feet, grabbing the vials and scales from his free hand, Hiro leaned back, straightening his posture again. The girl then spoke again, saying the words very slowly which made him tilt his head to the side. Why was she - ah, probably to stop from stuttering? That made sense and tended to work too.

It was only after she'd finished her sentence that he realized what she'd said.

Did he want to come?

"Sur - ah, wait. I need to grab a cauldron from the dungeons real quick and give it to this girl. But afterward I can meet you in the Potions classroom, if that works?" Hiro said with a smile. "It shouldn't take me too long, I run really fast. But not up the stairs, as that's dangerous as you well know." He said with a grin and then nodded to her. "I'll be there soon! Can't wait to see you again, Red!" Hiro said.

And then the mini-whirlwind of color disappeared down the stairs.

Soon after, the pink haired boy arrived at the Potions classroom and knocked on the door before entering the room. "You there, Red?" Hiro asked as he glanced around.

Sophia tilted her head at the boy. She was thoroughly confused. Did she actually know his name? She didn’t recognize him, and she was pretty sure - based on his hair alone - he was not easily forgettable. Had she somehow managed to forget one of the most memorable people at Hogwarts? Or was he even from Hogwarts?

Sophia frowned as the boy turned and ran to fetch a cauldron from the dungeons, and then ran back by on the way back up. He really was fast, true to his word. She was impressed.

As he ran back to the greater part of the castle, Sophia carried her supplies the rest of the way to the Potions classroom.

Her first step was to track and measure all of the needed ingredients. She grabbed the containers of lavender and valerian sprigs. They were light and on the lower shelves, so she had little trouble reaching them.

She readied a few clean bowls at her usual desk, arranging them neatly near her cauldron, book, and other supplies. She carefully measured lavender and valerian sprigs and placed them into one bowl.

The other bowls were reserved for the Standard Ingredient and Flobberworm Mucus.

She returned the extra valerian and lavender sprigs to the storage shelves and scanned for the Standard Ingredient. She brought the sack over to her desk and readied six measures for her usage, placing it in its own bowl. Satisfied, she returned the Standard Ingredient to the shelves and hit a roadblock.

The jar of Flobberworm Mucus was on the top shelf. She couldn’t reach it even if she jumped. Not without making a mess, anyway. She crossed her arms and pouted, staring at the jar with an intensity that would have scared the jar down if it was sentient.

“You there, Red?”

The voice of her Hero came from the doorway and, not even uncrossing her arms, Sophia huffed angrily, and called out.

”Come here, I need a tall boy!” she shouted to the boy, surprised by the echo in the damp room, “I need help getting the Flobberworm Mucus!”

She continued glaring at the jar as if it’d personally offended her while she waited for the boy to come over. She had no doubt that he’d come. If Sophia had learned anything from Kim, it was that boys loved doing things for her.

He spotted her pretty quickly.

She was over near a shelf, trying to reach something high above her range.

But for some reason, she wasn't using any spells to help make her life easier. Perhaps she didn't want to. Hiro came over to where Sophia was, staring up at the top shelf with a rather annoyed look on her face. The tall boy reached up to pluck the Flobberworm Mucus jar off the top shelf and handed it over to her with a smile. "There you go. You need anything else?" Hiro asked, ever the helpful boy. "What are you trying to make?" He asked her.

Hiro couldn't help but be curious. "Is that a Sleeping Draught?" If he remembered correctly, which he believed he did, those ingredients were all present in one. "Have you ever made one before?" Hiro asked with a smile. The pink haired boy went over to one of the desks near Sophia's and sat down on top of it. "What's your favorite type of potion?" Hiro asked, curious. "Why are you here so early in the morning?" He asked.

Yes, there were multiple questions.

Hiro just liked knowing everything about the person he was talking to.

Not that they felt the same. He didn't even expect Sophia to respond to all his questions. Most people didn't tend to do so. Hiro started to move his legs back and forth as they dangled off the desk. Hogwarts really was fun and he wondered what Sophia would be like after he got to know her a little. How long would she want to be around him before she tried to escape? He'd hang around her for a time until that happened. Red was kind of interesting, kind of clumsy.

But that made her cute.

Hiro watched as Sophia came over to the desk again and waited to see what she would do.

Sophia was grateful to her Hero for getting the flobberworm mucus for her. It was her least favorite ingredient out of every ingredient, but, alas, it was necessary. He handed it to her with a smile, and she was surprised at how genuine his smile seemed to be. It was as if he genuinely enjoyed something as simple as handing her a disgusting jar of mucus.

"There you go. You need anything else?"

"A bit of company could be fun," she joked. She couldn't be so unreasonable as to expect him to waste his whole Saturday with her, even if it was just an hour and a half or so of his time. Besides, she was used to spending time in the dungeons alone, brewing her potions and practicing at the only class she was even remotely good at.

To her surprise, though, her Hero made his way to the table she'd set her cauldron on, and he seemed intently focused on the ingredients she'd gathered.

"What are you trying to make? Is that a Sleeping Draught? Have you ever made one before?"

Sophia was surprised. The Sleeping Draught was a potion they didn't learn at Hogwarts until their second year. Did his school teach it earlier? Or maybe he was just older than he looked?

That's... right. Are you a first year student, Hero? Most students my age don't know how to make this potion, yet." she asked. This boy was something else. She smiled at his insight, looking forward to brewing this potion with him, "I usually brew it once every week or two, when my insomnia hits."

She walked over to the table and, wasting no time, began crushing the Lavender and Standard Ingredient into a paste. She'd done this several times before, so far, so it wasn't exactly hard for her. She set the mortar aside and added the flobberworm mucus - Eww! - and some more Standard Ingredient to her cauldron. She was in her element. She was clumsy with a wand, and honestly, just at life, but when she was making a potion, she could focus like never before.

"This is the worst part," she said with a frown, "I hate this flobberworm mucus so much, especially when I actually drink the potion."

Sophia heated the cauldron carefully, and counted to thirty. She added the crushed paste into the cauldron and waved her wand. Good. Things were coming along swimmingly! She was making good time. Maybe if she hurried, she could go outside and enjoy the rest of the day? Maybe she could track Gem down and go for a walk together? Sophia blushed at the thought, knowing full well that actively tracking the girl down would never work for her. She was too shy.

"What's your favorite type of potion?" Hiro asked, snapping Sophia out of her little fantasy.

"Uh, this is a bit embarrassing," she said with a self-deprecating smile, "But I like mind-altering potions the most. I'm thinking of learning to make Gregory's Unctuous Unction soon, but it's a toughie. I'd like to make some really difficult potions one day, like the Polyjuice Potion or Amortentia. They're just super useful, you know?"

She wrote down the time on a scrap piece of parchment so that she wouldn't lose track of it. She had to wait seventy minutes before she could finish the potion, and she hadn't burned one yet, so she wasn't eager to mess up now.

"What about you?" she asked with a smile, "What kind of potions do you like?"

She sat down near Hero, and turned her attention to him fully. Now all she could do was wait, anyway, so conversation was great. Besides, she was really starting to like her Hero, and this was a wonderful change from having to sit here alone to wait on her potion to finish brewing.

"Why are you here so early in the morning?" he asked after a while, clearly full of questions. It was adorable, and it made Sophia happy to see someone with such innocent curiosity. This question specifically, though, made her frown. Gosh, she hated mornings.

"Well, I like to practice advanced potions a lot on Saturdays. It's all I'm good at, see? But some of the potions have really long brew times. Like that one I mentioned a while ago? Gregory's Unctuous Unction? It takes over seven hours to brew. Unfortunately for me, that means early mornings. What about you? You're up awfully early too!"

Before any answer could come, however, Hiro was on his feet and headed toward the door. Sophia thought that was strange, but he couldn't exactly hang around all day, could he? Still, she definitely missed his presence. It was almost relaxing.

Sophia's response made Hiro grin.

"I can do that. I don't really have anywhere I need to be anytime soon."

He said with a smile and looked over at her when Sophia asked if he was a first year student. "Mm. That's right. I've just seen higher-years make it a lot when I bother look in on them from time to time." Hiro said with a grin, correcting himself as he wasn't really bothering them... He didn't think he needed to tell Sophia he was from Mahoutokoro. After all, she knew his name. If she knew his name, she would know where he came from, right?

As Sophia spoke about how she brewed it once a week when her insomnia hit, Hiro nodded. She started to throw ingredients into the cauldron and he watched her, content to simply watch in silence. He didn't want to distract her while she was measuring and doing each step for the potion. You didn't want to accidentally mess up because you weren't paying complete attention at the time. When Sophia told him about her favorite types of potions, Hiro nodded.

"I know, right? I love those types too!" He said with a smile and thought about it for a few seconds. "Polyjuice and Amortentia are great, that's for sure and Gregory's Unctuous Unction is a tough one. But the effects are kind of fun to experiment with!" Hiro thought for a few seconds about his favorites. "Hm. I like a lot of them. But I do have 9 that come to mind straight away that I like." The pink haired boy said.

"Alihotsy Draught, Blood-Replenishing Potion, Invisibility Potion, Mopsus Potion, Muffling Draught, Restoration Potion, Revive Potion, Truth Serum and Volubilis Potion are the ones I really think are useful and I like." As Sophia came over to sit down near him, Hiro shifted a little so he could face her more. Sophia started to relate more about herself and he nodded, filing away the information into his head for later.

It was only when his stomach rumbled that Hiro realized he hadn't eaten breakfast yet. And judging from what he'd heard so far from Sophia, she hadn't eaten yet either.

It wasn't as if she could leave her potion to brew to get some food, so maybe he'd get them both some! Hiro was someone who liked to surprise other people though and he thought Sophia deserved a nice surprise. Therefore, instead of telling her what he was going to do, he decided to keep her in the dark until he returned. He already knew she'd be there for awhile and getting the food would only take around five minutes if he hurried. So, Hiro left abruptly.

He'd apologize when he got back to the room again.

It took seven minutes.

On his own it would have taken five minutes but he'd forgotten he'd be carrying food with him. Hiro was carrying four containers filled with different types of breakfast food.

Yes, he'd miscalculated the amount of time it took to get back up but he was sure Red would forgive him. Hiro carefully balanced two sets of containers on his left arm and chest, while he reached out to open the door that would lead into the potions classroom. As it opened, he grabbed the two containers and made his way inside. "Hey, Red! Sorry about leaving so abruptly before. I got hungry and wanted to surprise you with some nice food."

"I thought you'd be too busy brewing your potion to get any while breakfast was being served, so I got some for both of us. I wasn't sure what you liked, so I got a variety of things." Hiro explained and came over to set the 4 containers down on a nearby desk, away from the cauldron. The last thing Sophia needed was for some food to accidentally fall into the brew. "Dig in!" Hiro said with a smile and gestured down at all the containers.

He was curious to see what types she'd like.

Sophia's eyes lit up as her Hero returned, and bearing gifts! A healthy variety of food was being presented to her, and her jaw dropped at the sheer deliciousness before her. Her mouth began to water and her hands were becoming shaky. She hadn't realized how hungry she was.

She rose from her seat, careful to be as far from the cauldron as possible while eating. She didn't want to ruin her potion with crumbs after all. She all but sprinted over to Hero, grabbing the first thing her hand could find, which happened to be a croissant loaded with, well, something. Sophia shoved it into her mouth, fighting for air as she struggled to swallow it. She knew forgetting to chew was a big problem, but she would overcome it some day.

She turned her attention to some kind of iced pastry. It looked delicious. She shoved it just as haphazardly into her mouth, moaning happily as the sweet delicious food filled her belly and her heart.

"You can leave all you need to as long as you keep bringing food back," she said with a mouthful and a genuine grin, hoping she could be understood. She kept stuffing her face, since she still had a good bit of time to kill.

As she ate, she realized that she didn't actually know anything about Hero. She didn't like that one bit. He was being so nice to her, and she knew nothing about him. What kind of foods did he like? What was his family like? Did he have his own version of Sage, Kim, and Gem? Hadn't he mentioned something about bothering people or something?

"Thank you, by the way. This stuff is delicious," she said with a smile, "We have about sixty minutes or so to wait before we can finish the potion, so why don't you tell me a bit about yourself, Hero?"

Hiro blinked upon looking down at his spread of food.

That's what he'd forgotten. Drinks! Well, then again it would have been rather hard to bring.

As it was, he'd had his hands full with the containers. Drinks would have been impossible. Well, unless he'd levitated them in the air all the way back. But that would take energy and effort. "Um, I didn't get drinks because not only did I forget about them but it would have been too much to carry on my own. Hope you don't get too thirsty, if you do maybe I could go get some later on." Hiro said with a smile as he watched Red.

He grinned as Sophia sprinted over to him and the food and watched as she shoved food into her mouth. "Slow down a little, you don't want to choke!" Hiro said, reaching out to clap her on the back. The pink haired boy laughed as Sophia told him he could leave all he wanted as long as he kept bringing food back to her. "I'll keep that in mind!" He said and nodded as she told him the food was delicious. And then she asked him a little about himself.

Of course.

It was only normal for her to be interested in him, when he was interested in her.

Hiro considered. "What did you want to know?" He asked, trying to decide on what to say and how to respond to whatever questions she would throw at him.
