The Snake v The Badger
Mia walked into the cool grounds, the wind in her hair. She had started the Gobstones club, finally, and this was to be her first match that she would oversee. She was very exited.
She walked into the crowded circle and took out her clipboard which had the list of people that were playing against each other. She liked to be organized, and it showed.
"Alright. We are going to be playing Jack Stone today. Just exploring, to learn the basics, because classic is just hard. Okay. The first pair is going to be Amadea and Aravis! Come on up."
Mia let out a little laugh, feeling the room warm up as she did so. She then walked over to the board, placed down the Jack Gobstone in the center of the board, a little silver thing with spikes.
"I'm assuming that you have your own gobstones, so all we're going to do is prevent you from cheating, not that I'd think that you'd cheat. So. Just hand over all of your extra Gobstones. You need seven for this, so give me 23."
Mia smiled at the two girls and stuck out her palm. All they needed to do now was give her the gobstones and start playing.

Notice: Nothing is definite when you are playing. Please post your stats after your turn. You both go once and then I reveal the outcome. This happens seven times.

The Snake v The Badger
Amadea had never played Gobstones before, but she had read a lot about it before signing up for the club. She had wanted to be included in activities around the school. She wasn't the most social person around, but she knew if she didn't put herself out there, she wouldn't make any friends. At the time that she had signed up, she didn't recognize anyone's names, but now she realized that the overseer of the club was no other than Mia Alexander, the girl she had met in the Leaky Cauldron and then again in the study room.
She listened as Mia explained which version of the game they were playing today, Jack Stone. Amadea counted out seven of her Gobstones and handed the rest to Mia. If Amadea remembered correctly from her reading, Jack Stone was an easier version of the classic game of Gobstones, where whoever had the Gobstone closest to the Jack Gobstone won. She felt fairly confident, as her skill in accuracy was fairly high. She looked toward the moderator who instructed them to start when ready. Since the other girl hadn't started, Amadea decided to go first.
She picked up a Gobstone and roled it toward the center, hoping her accuracy would pay off.

Aravis smiled excited for the game letting Amadea go first. As she watched her roll carefully, Aravis counted out 7 of her green gobstones before handing the pouch the rest of the gobstones were in to Mia. As Amadea rolled Aravis remembered all the fun times she had played Gobstones. The one time her and Mia had one or two rounds was fun, no one else had showed up that day, Aravis remembered showing up looking like a train wreck. Oh, and the times she played with Lucien and Maven, those were always the best. She always won against them. Then again, Lucien never really liked Gobstones and Maven... well he was a bit too young to maintain focus on the game.
Aravis loved the game, although she wasn't sure what was so fun about it. She wondered if she would win again. Perhaps Amadea would have beginners luck. Then again, the game wasn't just about winning. It was supposed to be fun as well.
Then it was Aravis's turn. She hoped she wouldn't pull of a roll that bounced up and hit her in the face as she had done when playing with Mia that one time. It was embarrassing. Aravis took a deep breath and focused on the task at hand. She smiled as she let the Gobstone roll.

Sorry about the late reply. I think I got food poisoning or the flu so I haven't been replying as quick.

The Snake v The Badger
Amadea internally cheered as her Gobstone hit the mark, then internally screamed as Aravis's knocked her Gobstone off of the board. Completely. She tried to remain unfazed by the turn of events but couldn't help feeling slightly embarrassed about the situation. Aravis's timing was off, but she had good accuracy and Amadea was sure that she had played Gobstones before.
Amadea wondered if it was obvious that she had never played the game before. Even though her Gobstone had gone where she wanted it to, she still had gotten knocked off of the board. Clearly, Aravis was someone who knew what she was doing.
Amadea tried to make the negative thoughts go away. Thinking pessimistically only ended with more negative feelings, something Amadea didn't need at the moment. She refocused herself, still feeling slightly awkward. She wondered if she should say something or acknowledgde what was happening in the game. She didn't know if you were allowed to talk at all during the game, though so far, the only person who had spoken had been Mia when explaining the rules. She decided against saying anything, just in case it was against the rules or ruined the other girl's concentration. Admittedly, Amadea did feel weird playing a game she had never played before with a girl she had never met before.
Erasing all thoughts except for the task at hand from her mind, she picked up her next Gobstone, ready to toss it onto the board. This time, she hoped Aravis wouldn't knock her off.

Aravis smiled as she knocked Amadea's gobstone off the board. It brought Aravis closer too winning. She found it funny to the other girls reaction to it. Perhaps it was rude of Aravis to find it funny. She couldn't help but wonder what the other girl was thinking when she rolled. Aravis watched carefuy, now partially bored. She couldn't help the fact that she lost interest in things easily.
Even though Ara rarely broke her train of thought she found herself thinking of silly things such as games she played with her siblings and her cousin. She smiled slightly at the memory of her and her siblings being close.
They hadn't been close like that in years. After all Aravis shut herself up in her room, Lucien stopped trusting people and stopped talking at all fir a while, her Odetre stayed to herself reading, leaving Maven alone to Odette's cruel adopted mother. The whole family hated that woman. Feeling a bit upset remembering the events that caused each one if them to isolate themselves she focused her mind back on the game.
She looked at where she wanted the green gobstone to go and concentrated on it before she rolled the stone.

The Snake v The Badger
Amadea watched as her Gobstone rolled across the board. Her aim had been dead on (again, but hey she wasn't bragging) but the Gobstone stopped short from the Jack Stone, leaving her and Aravis at about the same distance away. Amadea watched as her opponent tossed the Gobstone and saw it roll...and then keep rolling. Amadea felt the urge to cheer for herself and console her opponent at the same time. It was her competitive spirit fighting against her Hufflepuff nature. She ignored both of them, keeping her focus on the game. She couldn't let herself be distracted or it might cost her losing the game, something she definitely did not want to do.
Amadea was doing surprisingly well. She had never played the game before and had little knowledge about it, so every time her Gobstone rolled, it amazed her at how she managed to keep it going in the right direction. Hopefully her luck would continue on. Or was it skill? Amadea wasn't sure, but she wasn't about to rely on either to win this game for her. She had enough experience relying on supposed "greater forces" that ended up doing nothing at all to help her. No, she would win this game on her own.
She picked up her next golden Gobstone, rolling it around in her palm before tossing it, hoping to get a straight shot.

Aravis watched the roll once again counting how many gobstones she has left. She was already bored with the game. It was silent and not as fun as when she played with her siblings. At least they talked during it. Although Aravis didn't know this girl at all. Which was the exact reason she wouldn't dare speak first.
Surely the gane would be over soon. At least quidditch was an interactive game. Gobstones was just rolling a marble looking rock that sprayed the loser in the face. She watched the other girl roll again.
Aravis mentally sighed to herself. Maybe her timing wouldn't be off like the first two rolls. Hopefully her accuracy and her timing would work together for once. Normally her timing was pretty decent.
Aravis picked up her shiny green gobstone and rolled it once more. Green. Her house color had green. Her wax seal also was green. Aravis didn't notice that she had bought green gobstones. Then again maybe she did notice but had forgotten. After all it was her favorite color.
She found her mind skipping off to the distracted shore once again. Her mind practically ran straight into the waters of wondering. Aravis wondered if her mother liked green. Maybe Farrah or Arthur liked the color. Maybe one of her family members bought the gobstones for her.

Amadea: Timing & Accuracy were on point! Very good roll.
