Shiawase was very very curious, which meant she was very very excited! The topic of religion was fascinating to her! In her household, her parents had decided not to take their children to any places of organized religion, so that when the children were old enough, they might make up their own minds. And so, when one of Shiawase's friends told her about their religion (they were Christian), she did the only thing to do in that situation. She went home and googled it. From there, she went down a rabbit hole, learning the basics of so many religions, and grew an existential dread as she learned more and more. What if she chose to believe the wrong thing, and went to a bad place of eternal suffering for it?
She was a nervous wreck by the time dinner was served. She was shaking, and she started crying, even.
"My cooking isn't that bad, is it?" her dad joked. No reaction. He patted Shiawase on her shoulder and ask her what was the matter. She blurted out about how scared she was of making the wrong decision. About how she didn't want to suffer because she said the wrong thing or believed the wrong thing and how could anyone be so calm when their afterlives were at stake?! Her dad then chuckled and told her words she'd never forget.
"There is no deity that's going to punish you for something as minor as forgetting to say a prayer or believing in the wrong thing. Religion doesn't mean you live your life in fear. You have a big heart, Shiawase. All I want for you, is for you to follow it, and live your best life. All the rest, doesn't really matter. I love you and want you to be happy. If there is a deity, I would assume they would want the same for everyone."
And so, Shiawase had decided to forget her fears. She chose to believe only in what she could see. What was the point of stressing out about an afterlife that may not even exist?
Only, her beliefs were going to change drastically when she entered Hogwarts. Suddenly, magic was real. Ghosts were real, which meant souls were real, which meant . . . an afterlife was also real. There had to be somewhere the souls of those who passed went, otherwise, one wouldn't be able to take a step without walking through a ghost, Shiawase rather thought. But as to where they went, she wasn't sure. And what of the ghosts who remained behind, here, at this very castle? Or in other places - were the urban legends of hauntings all actually true? She had always thought them to be dreams, or the mind playing tricks late at night. She hadn't truly believed, but now, seeing ghosts here, she couldn't deny the possibility that all hauntings were true. But in that case, what was the criteria for a spirit moving on to an afterlife, versus a spirit staying behind as a ghost? Still, she couldn't help but feel comforted, at least some what, by the idea that when she eventually became a spirit herself, at a very very old age, mind, she might be able to stay behind and watch over her loved ones.
On top of that, she was in a place with wizards who never so much as interacted with the Muggle world before. So what did those raised in the wizarding world believe about religion, the after life, and morality? She was so curious, she could barely contain herself!
It took her some time to get to the Great Hall, though, as the staircases changed on her and she had to take a detour. A detour that took longer than she anticipated. But before long, she was there, and ready to discuss things! And immediately . . . she saw how many others were there. Plenty of familiar faces, as well as people she had only seen in passing but didn't know. She'd have to introduce herself another time. The thing that caught her eye was the table with Colin. It was quite crowded, but she was relieved to see him there. He'd probably answer her questions - he was pretty open about things generally.
She was also relieved to see AngelFyre there. She knew she was Muggle born like her, and she was curious if entering these grounds had changed her views like they had for Shiawase. Still, the whole table was . . . awfully crowded. And they seemed quite preoccupied, too. She wasn't really sure she wanted to interrupt. But it would be rude to not say "hi," at least. And so, she wheeled over to that table. It seemed as if the religious discussions were already in full swing, though . . . she was having second thoughts, but still, she waved.
"Hello. I'm sorry to interrupt you. I just wanted to stop by and say something since I'm here and all. It looks like a real party over here! I hadn't expected to see so many people. I'm Shiawase Mamori, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you, those who I hadn't met officially yet. This is quite the crowd. Sorry again for interrupting. I'll move out of the way now." She smiled politely and nodded, then wheeled back, out of the way of that crowd. Now, then, where to go? She looked around. And saw a girl sitting alone, in a long, white dress with a light pink floral pattern on it. She seemed to be trying to follow along in the conversations around them. What caught Shiawase's eye, though, was the satchel that appeared full. Perhaps . . . and admittedly this was wishful thinking on Shiawase's part . . . it would be full of books? One could never have too many books! And so, she wheeled over to the girl, and politely waved.
"Hello, there. I'm Shiawase Mamori. What's yours? It is a pleasure to meet you. May I sit here and discuss religion with you? I may not contribute much, myself, to the discussion as I am currently unsure what to believe, so our discussion may be more me picking your brain than anything, but it could still be fun. At least, I hope so!"

Sophia focused on Kim above all others in the room. It helped her to avoid thinking of the large number of people surrounding her. Lots of people was totally fine, if there was plenty of room for them, but in this type of event, they seemed to enjoy gravitating to small condensed areas, which was quite overwhelming for Sophia. So, she found her anchor and latched onto it: Kim.
It seemed they'd had an honest moment of emotional connection, when they were talking about their avoidance of large crowds. Between their social anxiety and their fear of heights, Kim and Sophia were honestly two peas in a pod.
The misunderstanding on Kim's part, however, destroyed any sense of an honest emotional connection. Sure, she still felt that connection with the boy, but it was being drowned out by the horrible static of her beating heart and her flustered mess of feelings that she barely understood. After the embarrassing moment in the third stage of the duelling club championship, Sophia was genuinely afraid of her feelings for the boy. The last thing she wanted to do was to overthink things and risk driving Kim away again.
But some things were so embarrassing that she couldn't possibly forget about them. This was one of them.
"Hey, you were the one who started it, with your talk about our boys!"he argued, and she felt like a fly trapped in a spider's web. She had started it, but it wasn't intentional! She'd meant to tease him in a vague 'boys will be boys' kind of way. Not... not like he'd been thinking! Her cheeks were already red, but they darkened further as she considered the implications of his teasing.
"Y-you know that I d-d-didn't mean our boys," she defended feebly, "N-not that we have any boys!"
She managed to stutter out an apology as her woozy arms managed to grab his own arm for dear life. She knew he didn't like touching, especially from her, so the least she could do was apologize. But Kim didn't seem annoyed. If anything, he seemed smug, or even amused!
"It's fine, as long as it's you."
Sophia let out a high-pitched squeak and her eyes widened. Her jaw was hanging open, and her mouth probably resembled that of a trout instead of a young lady, but she couldn't control herself. She'd tried not to let Kim genuinely know how she felt. Had he picked up on it? She'd seen his mischievous side before, and teasing her like this would be just the thing she could see him doing if he knew about her crush.
Sophia's whole body felt numb. This was awful. It literally could not get any worse. Not only was she making a complete fool of herself in front of Kim, but now he likely knew about her feelings. There was nothing she could possibly do to salvage the situation now. Kim must have noticed her discomfort, because he tossed her a lifeline, bless his soul.
"You should have something to drink," he suggested, likely to give her a moment to breathe.
She nodded, reluctantly letting go of his arm and taking a tentative step toward the snack table, grabbing a cup full of what looked like some kind of juice, and downing the whole thing in one gulp. It tasted good, but she didn't have the presence of mind to put a name to the taste.
When she returned to Kim, though, the cold drink must have helped to some degree, because her face definitely felt a bit less warm than before. She reached the boy just as someone else was walking away, and she noted with a smile that it was Bailey, of all people. That girl, she was amazing! She seemed to be everywhere at once!
Slightly calmer from seeing Bailey's sunny disposition, Sophia looked up to Kim again.
"You never answered my question, Kim," she said, poking him in the ribs gently, "Do you believe in God?"

Josephine didn’t know much about religion. Her parents told her a little bit about Catholicism’s, or what was the relation between religion and magic. They talked about Salem, but they did not want her to be afraid of muggles. The Aitken’s tried their best to explained her why things happened and the consequences, also how now muggleborns would introduce their parents to magic without fear of rejection. So, when she heard about that errand, she thought it could be fun to learn new things, to listen to new perspectives. She wasn’t always thirsty for knowledge, however, she was taught to keep an open mind. And how do you do that if not listening to others and trying new things?
Once she was there, she saw the food. Oh, and the crowded room, of course. The conversations seemed to be endless, she couldn’t figure out who to talked first. Or how to. Again, she was there to learn and she didn’t believe in anything else but magic. Being so ignorant, it was hard to start a conversation without making a fool of herself. Lucky her, she really never cared about that kind of stuff. Not when she had three brothers.
Stepping into the room she saw Kim, the desserts guy. It was easy to remember someone who enjoyed food and sweets as much as her did. Maybe even more than her. The rest seemed familiar, but still she was unsure of where to start. Maybe a snack will help. She walked towards the table with her usual tilted smile, paying attention to her surroundings. Maybe she could hear something interesting, a sentence she could answer to.

A girl waved to him, and Marius recognised her as fellow Hufflepuff AngelFyre something. He had never conversed with her before, but he knew and remembered her for having a capital letter in the middle of her first name and for dating Simon Kincaid, perhaps the most popular boy in their house. Marius waved back to the blonde, wanted to follow the preteen to her table, but she had gone together with another girl and he found himself not having enough courage to interrupt their talk.
Next came Bailey Glade, a Ravenclaw. The two had met many times in an afterschool club, but had never shared something more than small talks. She greeted him, asking how he had been, to which he replied, "Mostly fine, thank you. How about -" But the boy never got the chance to ask the second year how she was doing, for a redhead waved at her. Marius knew very well Bailey had no negative intention, but now she and the newcomer seemed to be having such fun, and they joined another group of students.
Not knowing what he had better do, Marius approached Professor Horne, the teacher responsible for this discussion. It was such a relief for him when the adult invited him to sit on a nearby table and talk with her; he did not want to lurk around doing nothing.
As he had prepared quite an academic presentation (for he had thought this event would consist of a formal discussion), he took out a bullet-points note from his bag and without thinking further, delivered a speech.
"Christianity is a religion based on the teachings of Jesus. According to the belief, Jesus is the Son of God who came down from Heaven for the sake of human beings and their salvation; He is the Messiah promised in the Old Testament part of the Holy Bible. Even though Christian theology recognises Jesus as the Son of God, Christianity is a monotheistic religion. These two seemingly contradicting concepts are explained through the Christian belief in the Blessed Trinity, or also known as the Holy Trinity. As explained by the Athanasian Creed (a Christian statement of belief focused on the doctrine of Trinitarian and Christology traditionally credited to Saint Athanasius of Alexandria, thus hence its name), the concept of the Blessed Trinity acknowledges that 'the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God'. Jesus is not God's Son in the sense of a human parent and a child; rather, in the sense that He is God made manifest in human form - He was conceived in Saint Mary, a human, by the Holy Spirit alone.
"In the twenty-first century, Christianity has become the largest religion in the world with approximately 2.3 billion followers. It has numerous of dioceses, also known as 'denominations' or 'branches'; but the three largest Christian denominations in the whole world are Roman Catholic, Protestant, and independent Churches.
"In Roman Catholicism, we believe that no human can come to God, but because He loves us so, He gives everyone grace to come to Him. Whether or not we decide to listen to His call, it's all up to ourselves, thanks to our free will - also a gift from the Lord so we can be fully human instead of dolls. For everyone who listens and accepts His invitation to love Him more than anything and love our neighbours just as much as we love ourselves, the gift of eternal life and salvation awaits.
"Among all holidays celebrated by Christians, the most important one is Easter, which commemorate the rise of Jesus after His crucifixion on Good Friday. It is the most vital celebration because this proves that Jesus is truly God; not everyone can believe that someone who had been crucified came back to life."
Marius stopped. Had he talked too much? Had he made Professor Horne bored? He looked at the teacher, and then sincerely informed her, "If you have any question, Professor, I would be glad to answer them as best as I can."
The Hufflepuff bowed politely, and as he straightened his back, his soft brown eyes suddenly caught the sight of a curly-haired girl enjoying something chocolate-y [Beatrice]. She seemed alone, and maybe she would like someone to talk with. Trying not to be so obvious that it might seem impolite to Professor Horne, he gestured an inviting sign to her.

She'd seen numerous people enter the Hall, all looking a bit curious and unsure of where to go. It seemed the Professor had been just a vague about her instructions with everyone else as she was with Beatrice. It also seemed that the other people in the Hall, all knew someone or another. The situation made Bea grab another cookie. She had seen Colin, the Scottish Slytherin first year she had met in the courtyard somewhere in the throng of people, but he had been with others and she hadn't wanted to disturb him. They hadn't really talked since then, and now him being with other unknown people, she left him be.Interacting with @Marius Brown, Mention @Colin McCoire
Nibbling the cookie in her right hand, Bea smoothed the notes she had brought with her. She had thought it a good idea, seeing as the girl herself wasn't familiar with all religions and and thought it would be the same for others. The crinkled parchment was split down the middle, with Catholic religious days and ideology on one side and Wiccan, or as her Nan called it, pagan, on the other. The Catholic side had the most important days for Bea and her family; Easter and Christmas. The eight Wiccan sabbats, the wheel on which they sat and the meaning behind each on with them on the parchment. The Wiccan side had more, as Bea had spent a lot of time recently with her Nan. Maybe this in a way showed her which way she lent in religion, she mused.
She looked again around the Great Hall. Other than Colin, she still knew no one. Bea wondered if maybe she should go up and talk to the Professor about acquiring someone to talk to. That was the whole point of this exercise yes? As she spotted the Professor though, she noticed a first year boy gesturing to her. Well, she guessed it was her. She looked to and fro, not spotting anyone close to her in the direction she was in. This seemed like a sign. Not getting anywhere by herself, she nodded to herself internally. Grabbing the plate of fudge and her notes, Bea left the house tables and went to the boy and Professor.
Upon arriving, she waved at the boy and Professor. "Hello Professor! Good to see ye..." She turned then, to look at the boy who had invited her over. H was slightly small, with brown hair and brown eyes to match. Beatrice was sure they had never met. Placing her things on a table near them, she tucked a caramel curl behind her ear. "Hi, A'm Beatrice! Ye here to talk aboot religion?"
With the question in her eyes, she whirled to grab her notes, finally excited to actually talk to someone and not just eat the sweets provided. "Fit religion 're ye? A'm a bit of baith, Catholic and Wiccan." She turned her notes to the boy, glancing at the Professor, to see if she wanted to have a look. "A celebrate Easter and Christmas with me fowk. Me Nan 's Wiccan and A celebrate that halidays." The breath wooshed out of her at this point. She blinked at the realisation and blushed. "Sorry, A'm talkin' too quick."

Damion was happy that he was in a place with other people though he was not sure what he was doing here. He didn't want to be a guy who was a loner. He was not that famous around. He wanted to have more friends around. He didn't want to be that guy who was always locked up in a room and was not interested in anything. This was not how his parents had raised him. He wanted to do everyone proud and have something to tell his best friend, Dylan. He wanted to keep talking to him but he knew that they had to focus on their studies.
He sometimes wished that he had the same school as Dylan. But was happy that Dylan was doing well. He looked around as he started trying to get out of his own thought cycle. He was hoping that he could get out of what he was thinking. But that not possible yet. He was going deeper into the thoughts. He looked around and tried to listen to what others were saying. He didn't want to be a bad listener. He was trying to focus on it but his thoughts kept pulling him away from it.
He was not interested in being here but was doing it as he thought it was a great chance to get to know more about things. He was not going to speak anything but he could still hear about what other people's thoughts were on this topic. He looked around and smiled. He was a little lost in his own thoughts but was trying his best to pay attention to others. He was happy that he had come out of his own comfort zone to be here.
He looked at others hoping that he would be able to listen to them more efficiently but he was not able to focus at all. He was trying his best but he was failing as his memories were troubling him. He was trying to be there and be supportive of people who were speaking. Even if he didn't want to speak on the topic. He wanted to show his support to others. He didn't want to be loner and wanted to be there for others. He might not agree with what was going on or being said but he still wanted to be there for others. He looked at others and smiled.

Bailey told him she didn't like crowds.
Kim was surprised by this because he'd always thought Bailey was a person who loved them.
At least, that had been the impression she had given off to him. It was interesting to note this new bit of information about the girl. Bailey went on to tell him other things about herself and her concerns, and then seemed to pause as if she'd said something she hadn't meant to say to him. Kim tilted his head to the side, curious. What had been so wrong about what she'd told him? It wasn't as if she'd told him some kind of secret that needed to be kept at all costs.
Right?
Kim made a mental note to ask her about it later on when they wrote their next letter.
Sienna answered his greeting with one of her own and then returned to her current conversation with Quinn. Kim didn't bother her further because he didn't like to interrupt others. Sophia's reaction to his teasing words made him smirk at her, she wasn't doing too well anymore! "Where did that confidence from before go, Sophia?" Kim arched a brow at her. "You were telling AF all about our boys. No shame!" He reminded her.
And then, he eyed her for a moment. Did she actually like him? The thought hadn't ever occurred to him before. But what if she did? Was that why she'd been all flustered around him lately? It would make sense. Kim regarded Sophia for a few seconds. If she didn't have feelings for him, why would she react like this? He didn't think he'd seen her act in this way when it came to anyone else. If so, Kim would have to let her down easily, as soon as possible.
After all, she had no chance.
Kim was gay and Sophia was a girl. The two of them could never be together.
Now that he knew her feelings, it would be mean to drag her along when such feelings would never be able to reach him. But then again, maybe he was all wrong about this. It was after all just an impression. If he was wrong and rejected her feelings, what if she took offense? She might think Kim was full of himself to believe that she would ever have feelings of that kind towards him. No, he wouldn't say anything yet, and test out the waters. For a very short time.
Once he was sure, he would come out and tell her everything about his preferences.
Kim glanced over at Sophia as she poked him in the ribs and asked if he believed in God. "Mm. I do. But I don't really practice any religion now." He told her.
There was too much to do. At least for him. Kim didn't have time to set aside to seriously practice any kind of religion on his own. "You?" He asked Sophia, curious. As Josephine stepped into the room and headed for the snack table, the two met eachother's eyes and Kim nodded. "Yo." It was his typical greeting, one that he used with everyone. He raised a hand in Josephine's direction, welcoming her to the room. Professor Farron started to mingle too.
She wasn't too far from him and Kim could just barely make out what the professor was saying to Marius. Well, it was relieving that they wouldn't need to get up on the podium later on. It seemed as if this event would be just a random mingling where students could talk to whoever they wanted to. That was when Kim recognized someone from his Tri-Cook Club. "Pax!" He called out, welcoming them. It was nice to see them and a smile started to form.
Or what looked like an almost smile.
After their first official meeting for the club, this was the first time he'd seen them.
"Nah, I'm here because Bailey dragged me here." Kim told Pax and tilted his head to the side. "Are you religious?" He asked, curious.
Kim was tempted to go back over to Willow's table but there were too many people there at the time. So he decided to wait until later on to head over again. Once some people left, he'd venture forth. Until then, he'd stay here and keep an eye on the status of the table. If he had to, he'd wait until the event was almost over to go over and 'attack' Willow with various questions of his own. Kim could actually be very vocal when it came to his varying interests.

"Eyes of Sky!" Colin said --- "Er. Don't go away! I'll be right back!" he said excitedly and he jumped up from his seat, turned and stalked away from the table where he and Jarael and Extressia were sitting with Willow and several others.
Colin dodged and slipped his way through several knots of happy students. He himself was ecstatic! He could hardly remember being this joyful before. "Eyes of Sky! --- EYES of SKY! --- No more Fairies on my tongue!" he cried out. A few moments later, he called out again: "OWOOOOOOO!"
He made his way all around the entire hall, sometimes catching a snippet of conversation along the way. He heard just about every name from Atheism to Zoroastrianism. He wondered at that --- so many different kinds of people here! At last, Colin caught sight of a wonderful scene --- Kim, and his friend Sophia hanging on to his arm for dear life. He smiled slyly and made his way around the outer edge of the hall. As quietly as he could Colin approached them from behind. Sophia had just poked Kim in the side and whispered something to him. They exchanged some words and Kim began to greet friends of his as they came into the Hall.
Colin poked Kim between the shoulders and exclaimed: "Greetings, Mister and Missus Kim Nelson!! Lord and Lady of the banquet!" He flashed them a quick grin before turning to the treat table himself.
He found a plate and a napkin and took a couple moments to carefully select the most delicious looking pumpkin pastry, which her carefully placed on the napkin draped plate. He considered the presentation critically, then decided to add a second pastry. Colin nodded with satisfaction, reached into his pocket and withdrew a grubby piece of parchment and a pencil. He knelt down at the treat table and sketched out a small posy of flowers. Bluebells in fact. Bobbing his head to some inner music, Colin then cast his gaze towards the biscuits and found a couple that had coloured frosting on them. He took two then wrapped a bit of napkin around the pointed end of his pencil. He dipped that into a drop of water and then smeared the icing around a bit and quickly dabbed of the resulting 'paints' onto the parchment. A bit of green on the leaves, a bit of sky blue for the petals.
Colin looked at his picture and smiled broadly. He fanned it a bit with a napkin until the tints were sufficiently dry, then carefully folded the parchment. He took up his pencil and set it to the parchment. His heart was pounding and he shuddered as if he about to write the most profound words any boy had ever written.
He wrote only one word. JARAEL.
Colin sighed and put the pencil down. A single tear dropped from his cheek. He tried to dry it, but smudged the name a bit. "Drat," he whispered to himself. Then he shrugged, took the pumpkin pastries off of the napkin, carefully slid the folded parchment under the napkin, and replaced the pastries. He arranged the pastries very carefully, brushed away a couple minisculest of crumbs and stood up again. He nodded. He took up the plate, scoffed the two biscuits, and headed off towards the table his friends were sitting at.
At last he got to Willow's table. Colin cleared his throat softly. "Um. Jarael? Er." Colin bit his lower lip nervously, his upper left fang sticking out a bit. "I --- I brought you a --- surprise?" He said that last word hesitantly. He only wished fervently that Jarael would find the parchment!
He took a ragged breath, then climbed up onto the wooden seat and sat on his haunches facing the girl. He placed the plate of pumpkin pasties on the table in front of her and leaned forward so that his face was right in front of hers. A strange image passed through Colin's mind --- it felt just that first time. In the courtyard. The time those girls laughed at Jarael and he threw pebbles at them. And she leaned in so close to him she could have k--- Colin's eyes widened. The K-word? I --- Jarael --- she's a girl! And now his face was just as close! Yes. Yes Colin, Jarael is a girl --- you got that in one! he said to himself reproachfully. He dare not turn away; but --- he didn't think he could do that yet. Or at least --- not here? For the longest moment he didn't know what to do at all. So Colin looked her in the eyes and he could feel the tears forming in his own. He blunk his eyes as a couple tears spilled down his cheek and he tilted his head forward slightly.
doop!
Colin touched the tip of his nose to hers and gave her a wide, full fanged smile. He thought his heart would surely explode with the happiness he felt! He maintained his nose touch for a long moment.

@Josephine Aitken noticing @Colin McCoire & @Farron HorneUniform of the Day:
GryffindorPiérre had looked at this little activity with a bit of tentative curiosity and slight worry. Something that he had sort of figured out from a younger age, especially when bouncing around public schools, was that you didn't usually want to talk about 3 particular things; Relationships, Politics, and Religion.
The first two the boy didn't care about listening to enough to have it affect him in any way shape or form, admittedly he found them rather boring, especially with the consistently changing climates of politics and relationships that he had been washed around in before the age of eleven. Now fourteen, not too terribly much had changed in that area, apparently; save that a little bit more than some bumps and bruises were at stake for his foolish actions. If he had learned anything in the past three years here at Hogwarts, it was that things were not what they seemed, and if you did let down your guard for even as long as a single second... Things were likely to go downhill at a pace quicker than swiftly.
But, having fear-- even fear of something that should probably be something to be feared, never got anyone anywhere in life. It left you homebound, coping with demons that you couldn't see until you just gave up entirely any hope of being able to conquer them at all.
And perhaps that's why the third topic, the one that this activity was about today, was just enough to help convince the boy that maybe today would not be that sort of say, as he made his way to the Great Hall dressed in gold and red robes and with a silver Figaro trotting by his side. Just before entering, Piérre took a deep, shaky breath as he beheld the place of drama hardly a month before. Just as before, he sent Figaro in first, just in case the area needed to be scoped out with a; “Figaro; Analizzare. Explore (or Analyze)”
With a small, purring "Mmmmmew!" Figaro took the entrance into the room to observe the surrounding, as always trying to be very quiet and discreet whilst doing so.
After waiting for a few seconds to let his feline explore and get himself settled, Piérre patted his satchel once to make sure that both Bibles-- a Saint James edition and a Conferenza Episcopale Italiana (CEI)-- were indeed there. Then, with a tentative hand, he touched the leather cord upon which his hag stone hung.'s Grace (75-100): 85
Figaro is Stealthed and Unseen
It was a strange and unusual dichotomy. A theological oxymoron. Yet, there was some part of it-- at least Piérre liked to imagine-- that was symbolic or meaningful, the blending of two practices in a way which made the other a tad bit more meaningful.
Or maybe he was just crazy and overthinking everything like he always did. Yes, that seemed the more likely option all things considered. Crazy had rather unfortunately become more of a motif to the boy recently, much to his chagrin.
So, with a shaky breath to steel his nerves, Piérre tentatively peeked around the door just in time to observe a boy with a distinctively gaelic accent letting out a primal whoop as he claimed that the fae no longer controlled his tongue.
Ducking behind the door again with a jump at the suddenness of the exclamation, he tugging at his trademark yellow and black Hufflepuff scarf. Piérre waited a few seconds before turning and peeking again in order to watch the atmosphere of the rest of the room.
After looking for a while, Piérre stood there frozen, not sure how to react. To his great surprise and also confusion... Piérre noted that this event was... Exactly what it had advertised itself to be. Laughs, smiling, exchanges of faiths and pride therein...
No signs of fighting or strife like most of the other events were prone to devolving into despite their intended to be positive encounters were found (at least not at first glance). This was not forced in the least. This was genuine.
There was just joy.
Perhaps this Astronomy Professor (the school seemed to recently be burning through these individuals faster than a star consuming hydrogen) had more to her than what first met the eye. Piérre could see her now at one of the closer tables, and though a part of him wanted to go right over and strike up a conversation, a suddenly more intimidated part of Piérre hung back.
Tugging at the hag stone's cord again, Piérre felt himself wavering between two urges; one to enter the fray and simply be himself and maybe talk a little bit about his personal theological beliefs, and the other to simply slink back before he was spotted by anyone in the immediate vicinity.
Both seemed very viable and probably likely options at this moment. He wavered between the two, like a reed caught in a gale, before finally screwing his courage and taking the first bold step inwards. The next step came easier, and before the boy knew it, he was walking straight into the thick of it, the eyes of a hidden Figaro nearby, watching to make certain that nothing would dare harm his human.
At one of the tables, he saw a younger looking girl standing alone nearby the snack table (Josephine).
Piérre felt himself light up a little. Hey, mono e mono, nothing too terrible could happen if he was just interfacing with one person... And a complete stranger at that! Nothing would start on fire or end up in a brawl or break bones or fall off broom's or cast Sectumsempra...
So the elvish, green haired, green eyed Britalian found himself drifting towards this lone student, his two hands still frozen; one to his hag stone on the inside of his vest, the other pressed to leather messenger bag at his side.
“Hey! Um, hi! I saw you standing alone there. Big crowd, huh? Lots going on.” He tried to be vanilla. Not usually how he approached a lot of his conversations (which, to continue the ice cream analogy, were often compared to as if a five year old had their way with decorating their own soft serve).
“My name is Piérre.” That was all the introduction he gave. No year, no house, though a yellow and black motif was wrapped loosely around his shoulders, Hufflepuff; a red and gold tie was cinched at the throat, as was a red vest beneath black robes. Gryffindor?
Piérre relinquished his left hand's grip.on the hag stone in order to extend it to the girl in the gesture of a handshake.1,130 words

That was that boy! Amber remembered him from the feast at the beginning of the school year. She gave him a friendly smile, "Nice to see you again~" Amber reached for a drink for herself as well. There was a lot of choice but she eventually settled on some pumpkin juice. It wasn't her favourite (she would rather have apple, honestly) but it would do for now. Anything to quench her thirst would be good enough.
More people seemed to show up and Amber had a hard time keeping up but another Gryffindor joined them, "Nice to meet you, Pax." What a nice name! Definitely not one Amber often heard and she was a little envious. Her own name was rather common at the school it seemed. "I'm Amber, I've seen you around." But this was the first time they were properly talking it seemed.
Amber was glad this event was giving her a chance to get to know her fellow first years and house mates. It was a shame that she could get so easily caught up with classes and homework (since she always struggled with them and they seemed to take a lot longer for her) and other things. She had made a few friends, here and there but more was always better. In her opinion at least.
"I'm not religious at all." Amber admits when Pax asks, shaking her head but smiling, "None of my family are but I was curious to know what this get together would be like. I like to think I'm fairly open-minded and I like meeting new people." She didn't want anyone to think she wouldn't like them just because they didn't have the same beliefs.
Would someone assume that? Amber didn't have a lot of personal experience with religious people but she vaguely knew they were supposed to be kind, friendly and supportive of others. Hopefully she wasn't remembering wrong. Amber sipped at her juice and waited for someone else to speak up as well. A Ravenclaw girl that Amber kind of knew from classes was attempting to ask Kim about his religious beliefs as well, if he believed in 'God'. He seemed to eventually answer.
So he had been religious before but wasn't now? That made Amber have a lot of questions but she followed the conversation as it went back to Pax, the question of religion now aimed towards them. Amber watched, nibbling at her chosen snack as she waited to hear where everyone else sat when it came to religion. Despite any worries about how she would be accepted, everything seemed to be going fine so far.
"I never really thought about religion before." Amber speaks up. Sure, her local (and very small) community had a church but she never gave it much thought, "Can someone explain what the 'God' is for me? Who is that?" She looked around, from Pax to Kim and the Ravenclaw girl who's name she had missed since she arrived late. Hopefully someone would be able to explain it for her (and she hoped no one would laugh at her question either, she had heard people mention God before but she didn't really know who or what they were).
