Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff 𝙲𝚘𝚖𝚙𝚕𝚎𝚝𝚎𝚍

To say that Ami was pissed would be a major understatement.

Winless. Winless. Thus far, Hufflepuff was winless when it came to Quidditch. Not only had they blown a sizeable lead over Gryffindor during their first match, but Ami had been rendered unconscious within the first 2 minutes of their match against Slytherin. As she had only joined the team after their undefeated season, part of her reasoned that maybe she was the one responsible for their current run of back luck. Thankfully for her self-esteem and -image, she also knew that the constant roster changes certainly hadn't helped their cohesiveness as a team in any way. Thankfully, with her good friend, captain, and partner in crime Quinn at her side, she had managed to maintain high spirits and hopes coming leading up to today.

Ravenclaw versus Hufflepuff. The de facto rivalry that had resulted as the leftovers of the long-running Gryffindor/Slytherin animosity. This time, however, she would face Cecily Quinn and her murder of ravens as the Queen Bird's ex-girlfriend. Not that we ever roleplayed that nor did they end on bad terms (in fact, they were still besties to this day), but it certainly made things... interesting. Ravenclaw was on a hot streak, and Hufflepuff was going to have to play their very best in order to avoid being just a speed bump on their road to victory.

Ami would storm onto the field with a near-murderous stare accentuated by her clenched jaw. Her shiny new broom (which she had affectionately dubbed "Firebreather") was clenched in one hand, her bat in the other. If she was able to catch his attention before he kicked off, Ami would pull @Howard White to the side for a brief conversation. "All or nothing, Howard," she said, her deathly serious tone wildly out of character for her. However, the fire blazing in her eyes confirmed that there were no jokes to be found, no wisecracking to follow her statement. Although Quinn was, of course, her closest friend on the team, she had always found Howard's stoicism to be a grounding force for her whenever she had started to feel overwhelmed on the pitch. "We are going to sweep the goddamn floor with their feathers. We both know that badgers have sharper claws than the rest of Hogwarts thinks... so let's get those stupid birds." The strange pep talk seemed largely directed at herself moreso than the ghostly pale chaser, which rendered the entire interaction wildly useless, but Ami mounted her broom a bit calmer than she had been before.

As she adjusted the straps on her gloves and clipped her helmet on, Ami's gaze couldn't help but wander over to the stands, where banners of all shapes and sizes hung in support of both teams and various players. While she did not see her directly ([d20: 10]), Ami had a gut instinct that @Evelynn Decipio was sitting somewhere in those stands. Maybe the Gryffindor seeker was cheering for her. Maybe she wasn't. But part of her, deep down, hoped that she was. Maybe they could grab a drink after the match... hopefully in celebration and not commiseration. But these were thoughts for later. For after the match.

Ami took off and took her position, and she called out Hufflepuff's agreed starting play ("Howard, run Girlboss Eight, I repeat, Girlboss Eight; Ethen, Slayqueen. Everyone got that?") and adjusted her grip on her bat, eyeing the Ravenclaw team with distrust and malice. They were known for playing dirty, playing just as gritty as any stereotypical Slytherin. But on the other hand... Hufflepuff had a Hulk Howard. So really, who was the one with the offensive advantage, here?

Even if, god forbid, they didn't win this match, Ravenclaw was going to bleed all over this pitch if it was the last thing she did. She would personally make sure of it.

In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

The rush had already begun to consume her. The excitement and slight jitters that she felt each time she was getting ready for a game. The year hadn't been going their way but Atlas knew they had trained hard for the game. She knew how skilled each of her teammates was and she had the utmost faith that they would push the other team to their limits.

But she had a job to do. Each quaffle that tried to sail through her posts would never find their mark. She didn't have any doubt that she would be able to keep her posts defended. With a grin, Atlas pushed off and took to the skies. Closing her eyes momentarily to take in the moment, shot forward to take a quick lap before settling into her position.

Atlas stretched out her neck and shoulder, chuckling as the bones cracked with the rotations. Feeling agile and quick, she couldn't wait to start the game. Scanning the pitch, Atlas exhaled a breath she hadn't known she was holding as she awaited the start.

Two wins in a row, the third one must be possible. It was fun, really. All she had to do was sit on the bench and the next thing she knew, the birds won. But on the other hand, it felt as if she took things for granted, she also wanted to contribute more for the team. That was the downside of being a second string. When was the last time she was actually being useful? As far as her memory can go, never. But at least she did not have to endure the confetti and pumpkin burst on her face unlike some of the players.

This might be her last quidditch match ever, or maybe the second last if they would win. So she hoped things would go well. They will be playing against Hufflepuff, the house of the kind. Perhaps they would be kind enough to give the victory to the Ravenclaw, the deserving one.

Quinn flew onto the field with his game face already on. Eyes a light with the competitive fire gripping his admittedly smallish broom. Glancing around the field with focused sight he was thrilled to see his team making their mark with their entrances. He even spotted Ami the diabolical fiend proudly shouting their first play. It garnered an unsettling and massive wide toothy grin from him. The look in his eyes growing fiercer. His muscles tensed, his grip tightened and most importantly he was truly in his element now.

Quinn refused to lead his team to a completely lossless season. Reasoning be damned. He had become a recluse and basically stopped talking to everyone in the last year or so. Due to certain events in his life that had thankfully been currently mended to some extent. Now? Now was time to make it up to everyone he let down. "Alright ya rowdy bunch listen up!" He bellowed out in his deep baritone voice now. The one he took when he wanted to get someone's attention or command a presence which was a weird thought but focus Quinn! "Chad!" He looked to Ami, "Great job, I'm proud of you. " He looked around the field to his team. You've heard the speech before but I'll say it again for all to hear. It's hunting season and we've got bird on the menu. Let's show em why badgers aren't to be messed with. NO MERCY!!" He pumped his fist into the air and hoped this was better motivate the team. He was after all one for cheesy theatrics.

Cecily entered the pitch almost ungracefully, holding back a coughing fit brought on by the excessive wafts of pumpkin spice. Seriously, it wasn't even autumn. Who chose an autumn scent-- and not even a very good one-- to douse the Ravenclaws with? And with purple smoke? That color did not match the smell one bit. If they lost, Cecily was blaming it on the chemicals that filled their nostrils. This wasn't ever coming out of her hair or uniform.

But they weren't going to lose, because this was their year! Cecily was more confident than ever coming into this match, even though they had lost Emma once again, a hit to their offensive unit that would already be struggling against the Quinn/Ami powerhouse duo. The two weirdly strong fifth years couldn't be that scary, though, if Hufflepuff had yet to win a match this season. Ravenclaw had yet to lose. It seemed clear who would be coming out on top today. She didn't suffer through a cloud of pumpkin spice and being announced as a fourth-year just for their winning streak to end with Hufflepuff.

Annie would feel the rush of cool air hit her face as she walked out of the locker rooms. As she walked to the bench to go shake hands with the other players she remembered Damion was playing. Unable to tell who was who beneath gloved hands and what not she'd let out a wolf whistle hoping to catch his attention. A small smile slipped it's way onto her face before she went to sit back on the benches. Repeating her previous action this time for her own teammates, she brought her fingers to her lips and let out a shrill whistle.

"Let's go Badgers! We've got this match in the bag for sure!"

Following her teammates, Vivian entered the pitch with worries hidden behind her forced flat face. Just like in any other quidditch match or practise session, the young girl tied her blonde hair up into pigtail buns. Weeks of preparation to keep her temper went in vain when the confetti shot at her when she was already nervous about the match. "What the- seriously!?" her face reddened as she jerked away. Muttering under her breath, the girl took a seat with the other second strings as she brushed away the Colour papers.

Jorah flew through the purple smog scented of pumpkin spice. The autumn aroma was a pleasant surprise. Jorah was particularly fond of the fall season. It was a special time of the year filled with warm colored foliage ironically contrasted against brisk weather. It paved the way for the coming Christmas season. Jorah was just a 13 year old boy, but if he were older, he would be of the mindset that the fall season would be the ideal time for a wedding, particularly October 30th. Jorah flew on ready to begin the game.

What a year it had been. Ravenclaw had 2 wins already and was going into this match as the favorite. It was almost a dream for Lavinia, something she never would have imagined happening. Since the season was going so well for them, Lavinia was putting her heart and soul into practicing. Everyday, regardless of if there was practice, she would be on the field flying. She skipped the ball in order to practice and was almost falling behind in her classes due to her lack of focus. Quidditch was all that was on her mind, and it was time for Ravenclaw to play the summer match. At some points Lavinia felt like she was only good at playing quidditch, and knew that this was one way for her to make it up to her house.

Flying through the confetti and onto the field, Lavinia’s ears perked up when the announcer called her a broom racing captain. That was not correct in the slightest. She wanted to be a captain but decided that it was more important for her to invest her time into quidditch. Nevertheless, Lavinia was more determined than ever. It was time for another win.
