Dear Mum and Dad,

I hope the both of you are well. Things are fine here, but I'm a bit worried for Jack. Monty sent me an owl the other day, and said that he had fallen into a bramble bush whilst out on a walk, hurting his leg. Is that true? If so, please make sure that he is well rested. He can sleep on my bed, if he wants; the dog bed you bought him might be too rough on the wound. Josie can stay with him, too, you know how they like to be together. Oh, and keep this letter away from the Crups. I know they're well trained, but Jack does have a bit of a tendency to chase the postman - I don't want him chasing owls as well. Has the litter been born yet? I've been waiting expectantly for the owl to arrive soon, so don't keep me in the dark for too long! Also, who's in charge of walking Jack at the moment? I'd like to think he's getting a good run about while I'm away, and that Monty isn't pushing him into Mulberry Bushes whilst I'm gone.

Enough about Jack, how are the pair of you doing? I haven't heard from Adelaide in a while. Although I'm enjoying my time here, it does occasionally get lonely. I've yet to learn new spells, however I've been told there are a lot of magical creatures here! Better yet, there are supposedly Thestrals at Hogwarts! I'm really excited to get the chance to meet one! I've got to go now, I've set up a game of Gobstones and I won't lose! I'll catch you later!

P.S, I'm really sorry about the state of this letter! Writing in ink whilst left-handed is quite the challenge.

Dearest Monty,

I got your owl, but it bit me when I took your parchment from it. I'm tempted to just pretend it didn't happen at all, so you don't get the satisfaction, but I think the blood on the corner of this letter gives me away. You trained it to do that, didn't you? I know you did, because other than that incident, I've never met a more well trained bird. I'll make sure to get you next time, I've got a dungbomb with your name written all over it. I didn't know you had a Great Horned Owl - I bet it belongs to the Ministry, right? I don't reckon such an impressive bird would choose to stick with you! I kid, and I'll admit, you both seem like a pretty good match. How's it hanging these days, anyway? I hope you haven't been tailing any dangerous Wizards lately. I know it's your job, and I know you can handle it, but just be careful, alright?

Do you think you'll be able to come home soon? There's a summer break approaching, and I'm itching to see you. Maybe we could meet up then? Mum and Dad's place, of course. She'll be cooking your favourite, a Sunday Roast, though it doesn't have to be a Sunday if you're busy. I would invite Adelaide, too, but I think she's absorbed in searching for new broom materials at the moment. That, and she won't return any of my owls. I think she might be mad at me, but I'm not sure why. Is it an adult's thing? I'm a bit confused, but I'm certain I could understand it if she would just open up to me a little. Could you contact her, please? I mean, if you have time, I know being an Auror is hard work, and that you two don't really get along. But I'd really like to see you both.

I don't want to leave you on such a low note, so did I mention I was sorted into Hufflepuff? You'll have to cough up the sickles you owe me when you visit, too! I told you it was a silly choice betting on Gryffindor. I don't mind, though, everyone is friendly enough! I think the Sorting Hat knows what's best for me; if I trust in it's choice, maybe I'll be as courageous as you one day! I look forward to the time when I can best you in a duel, but for now, I think I'll stick with winning at Gobstones.

Constantine looked over the letter, rereading it over and over. Had he been too depressing? The Hufflepuff hadn't meant to guilt his brother - he didn't need that on top of the work he was doing. Picking up his quill again, Constantine began to cross out a few sentences, the ones he deemed 'over the top'. After glazing over the letter one last time, it was given to Monty's owl, which was sat perched on Constantine's shoulder. The bird shuffled over to his arm, before taking flight, leaving Constantine alone in the Owlery.

Hello, Monty!

I was just writing a letter to tell you more about my time at Hogwarts! I've made a ton of new friends, none of which are Hufflepuff, funnily enough. I had my first flying lesson a couple days ago, too! I don't think I'll ever be up to Adelaide's standards, although I'm certain I could beat you in a race after a little more practice! I received a letter from Mum - I'm so glad you can make it for the holidays! Don't work yourself too hard before then, wouldn't want you to 'sprain your ankle' whilst walking the Crups like you did last year! (By the way, no one believes that excuse at all. You ran to the dinner table quick enough).

But, I do have a bit of bad news. Don't get mad, alright? So, you know the friend I mentioned earlier? Well, we kinda went to look at the tree you told me not to. And, I might've gotten an extremely, teeny tiny cut on my face. I had a good reason, though! She could've been hurt if I had left her by herself! I mean, she's a little bit hurt already, but you know what I mean. I'm alright though! She showed me a picture of her dog, it's a really cute muggle breed! Promise I'll go to the Hospital Wing, okay? But only if you don't tell Mum - I really don't fancy a Howler in the mail - so please?

To Adelaide,

Your address is really hard to find, I'm lucky I wrote it down. How is the broomstick making? I've heard that the brooms you make are super fast! I'd love to see some of your work sometime, maybe the one you were working on last time I saw you? I know it was a long time ago, but I really liked the look of it.

Are you coming home for the summer? I'd really like you to visit, but I know that's selfish of me. You're busy, right? I understand. I've kept your room clean, though, in case you decide to change your mind. Montgomery said it was a waste of time, but don't worry, I won't stop so easily.

He'll be there, Monty, I mean. Maybe this year you can patch things up? You both used to be so close, I'd like for you to be like that again.

Constantine crumpled up the note, molding it into a tight ball. He held it in his fist, looking at it with mixed emotion. What was the point in writing a letter, when it's recipient didn't reply? He didn't know, and yet, he continued to write.
