A Letter from Da Solo Closed

The Owlery had always smelled off to Evianna. Pushing open the door, she blinked for a few moments, adjusting her eyes to the relative darkness, and sneezed. Her father's long-eared owl stood on a perch before her, patiently holding out its foot. Beside it on the table was a small package addressed to her.

Evianna gently untied her father's letter. Picking up the package and tucking it into her robe, she left the tower and walked down the stairs. Sitting, she unfurled the scroll and began to read.

Dear Shortie,

Mum and I miss you more everyday. She wanted to send you something from home, so she had me send this.

We're glad to hear that school is going well. I'm glad you've made such good friends. If you finish the year well, we can talk about having the two of them over for the last week of summer holiday.

As far as I know, first-years aren't allowed to join the Quidditch teams. Although I did hear about "special circumstance" for a first year in 1991, the kid showed remarkable skill on a broom and was also Harry Potter. Uncle Eric offered to give you some pointers in Seeking when we visit him in July.

Please write back soon. Your mother's been frantic because "you haven't written in a week." (her words, not mine)

Lots of love,

Mum and Dad
Sighing, Evianna folded the letter neatly and tucked it into her pocket. She was beginning to regret telling her father that lie about making friends.
