Noise ... is a relative thing. In a city, it's a jet plane taking off. In a monastery, it's a pen that scratches. (Robert Orben)

New week, new busyness. Well, all right, so technically yesterday was the day that began a new week, but there was no class at all yesterday. It was a day of rest with no worry or tiredness. Today was different, it marked the start of five consecutive days of school. Even though it was only the second week of his first year at Hogwarts, and his first Monday of classes at this magic school, Marius felt a little weary, perhaps it was because he was still settling in.
But currently, the Hufflepuff could not care less for reasons. All he knew was, he wanted some peace and quiet. His first thought was returning to his dorm, but the preteen still could not accept that it would be a place for him to sleep for the upcoming seven years; that place was nothing compared to the small but warm and cosy room he shared with his brother Alberto back home. His second consideration was the library, but he had also heard rumours that somehow, the library of Hogwarts was not one of the quietest spots.
Maybe he could try the Courtyard, he figured. He had never spent time there, and it might fit him. With hopes, Marius proceeded to said place. Upon arriving there, however, his heart sank. It was as if his hopes had gone up in smoke, for before his brown eyes, students were moving around and chatting.
There was nothing, no wind nor rain, but something seized him. Just like that, Marius suddenly decided to run towards them, his punch raised in the air, and without thinking he announced pretty loudly, "You're all just as noisy as pinnated grouses!"
He only realised what he had done when a few eyes were laid on him, some giving the impression of considering him insane, a couple of others mocking, and some looked confused. With all of this attention, Marius grew nervous, and he could feel colours rose up his cheeks.

Having eyes, but not seeing beauty; having ears, but not hearing music; having minds, but not perceiving truth; having hearts that are never moved and therefore never set on fire - these are the things to fear.

Habib was in the courtyard talking with some Slytherin first years.Ooc these are just faceless NPCs, not actual people. They discussed class and other such things. It was calm sure it was loud but it wasn't anything Habib wasn't used to; clear some people weren't the same. Habib heard footsteps and temporarily looked up to see a Hufflepuff first year approaching. Habib ignored them and went back to his conversation. Then there was a shout. "You're all just as noisy as pinnated grouses!" Habib looked at the boy with confusion, just who did this leftover- sorry Hufflepuff thinks he was shouting at everybody like that. If he didn't like the noise he could have just left no need to scream about it. Rolling his eyes Habib stepped forward fixing the boy an arrogant stare, which would have probably worked if the boy wasn't much taller than Habib. "Ok listen here you glorified raccoon," There was laughter from some of the Slytherins behind him. "No one asked you too be here so don't you scurry back to that little hobbit hole you common room and leave!" Habib was perhaps being a bit mean but he just didn't have any patience for Hufflepuffs. He like many Slytherins suffered from the preconceptions that Hufflepuff were idiotic leftovers. However Habib felt today he may be proven wrong.

As Loud as Thunder, as Noisy as...?

Exploring the castle was a fun way to pass the day, well before classes began in any case. Hilda was sure her father would be wanting her to have a full meal and double checking her books to make sure she was prepared, but the Great Hall had been bustling with excited students and a small mouthful of toast was all she had managed before fleeing quickly to the outside world.
Here, in this courtyard, students were chatting, or using the throughfare to get from one part of the castle to another. She had been found this outdoor area only the day before, and watching the students had made her feel oddly calm. Now however, it daunted her to no end. They seem so organised and prepared… she would think uncomfortably, leaning back against a shaded tree with arms wrapped around her stomach.
A boy’s voice broke her worried internal thoughts and made her whip her head around. A boy from her own house, and he’s complained about the noise? She’d tilted her head in confusion at him, but then at the approaching Slytherin, she swallowed the sudden lump in her throat. She had learnt that the students of the emerald house was not the easiest of people to make friends with.
Sure enough, an insult and a command to leave the area issued from the Slytherin’s mouth, amongst the laughter from his fellow housemates. Now Hilda was not as brave as a Gryffindor say, but a member of her new house was being spoken to in a way she would say, was not polite. Her nervous energy and fear of failing her classes were turned into a simmering rage. She walked up swiftly and stood by the embarrassed boy.
“Are you okay?” Was her first question, seeing his flushed cheeks and his apparent discomfort. She thought to ignore the Slytherins, not give them the satisfaction of a rebuttal, but still the urge to let them have a piece of her mind was strong. It’s your first day of classes Hilda, do no get involved in this.

It was a nice day at the courtyard, It was loud but nice. Quinn could hardly hear the birds, but she expected that as it was the courtyard. She was reading her book when she heard someone yell. She looked up to see a hufflepuff, He told everyone how loud they were. Quinn laughed at this, 'Crazy guy, Should be in gryffindor!' Quinn thought.
Another boy walked up to him, This time a slytherin. The new boy was from her own house. He told the hufflepuff to go back to his.. hobbit hole? Quinn had no clue what it was but she was sure it was an insult. She closed her book and walked to where the two boys were. Now there was a girl She was also a hufflepuff, She asked the first boy if he was alright. 'Ok she has the one from her house, Guess I get the boy form mine..'
Quinn walked up to the slytherin, She had seen him around the common room but never payed much attention to him. "So. Why are you yelling at him? He just said what we were all thinking.." She told the slytherin waiting for his answer. Quinn normally would not get involved. The boy had a right to be upset, Yelling at someone was never a good way to solve a conflict. That's what Quinn's mom had told her.

Habib was taken aback when another Hufflepuff appeared to console the boy. He raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. However, another person stepped forward, this time a Slytherin. Habib mentally ran through some possible responses in his head. He could simply insult her, but that would make him appear petty and vindictive. He could also simply leave, but his pride would not allow him to do so. Instead, he said, "So even if he has a point, that doesn't mean he just gets to scream like some sort of overgrown banshee," to quiet snickers from the Slytherins. "If he has a problem, he can simply leave rather than acting like a child it isn't necessary to make a big deal about it." Habib thought this was a good response because he wasn't actively antagonising the girl, but he also wasn't backing down. He was successfully redirecting the energy of the room to what the boy had said while diverting attention away from himself. Habib knew what he was doing was wrong and that he would never befriend a Hufflepuff after this, but his pride (which his father had warned him was a fatal flaw) wouldn't let him drop the subject.

As Loud as Thunder, as Noisy as...?

@Marius Brown @Quinn Root @Habib AcropolisShe was relieved when another student, a girl from Slytherin, stepped forward in defence and tried to deal with the situation. That meant Hilda did not have to be vocal and start a scene. This way she was merely helping and not really involving herself… right? She listened closely however, as she soothed the Hufflepuff Boy and checked him over. Had something been wrong with his ears? He’d complained of noise… did she have her ear muffs in her bag?
‘Rather than acting like a child..’ Hilda’s blood seemed to boil and she felt her cheeks warm at the words the boy spoke. Even when another from his own house had come to settle the matter he had chosen to continue with his insulting manner. He was so inconsiderate! He clearly didn’t care what the Hufflepuff was going through and thought to simply criticise instead. As Hilda comforted the distraught boy with a hand on his back, she turned to the Slytherin group, and found herself unable to not say anything at all.
“For your information, we are all still children. Perhaps showing a little sympathy for someone going through a hard time is the more appropriate response rather than making the situation worse.” She’d spoken quietly but her tone was firm, her eyes glaring at the Slytherin boy to make it clear whom she had spoken to.

For Marius, it was not a surprise at all when a boy mocked him for what he had just done; on the other hand, he felt both surprised and thankful when two girls came to his defend. The one with the wavy hair checked if he was still all right after being thrown an insult at, whereas the girl with short, straight hair stood up against the boy.
"I'm alright, thank you," Marius said in a polite and friendly manner to the Hufflepuff girl. When he looked back at the boy - a Slytherin, apparently - he realised that the kid seemed taken aback. Perhaps he was not prepared for anyone backing up for the Hufflepuff boy after his (admittedly embarrassing) comment. The Slytherin's attitude changed; rather than attacking, now he attempted to defend himself and justify his action.
Marius did not like this preteen's attitude, but deep in his heart, he knew that he himself had done was immature. Still, he did not feel like admitting it fully in front of the Slytherin. Thus, he faced the other boy, looking at him straight in the eyes, and said coolly, "I do have the right to speak what's on my mind, but the way I used wasn't appropriate. I apologise for that."
For a split of second, he considered telling the kid it was not nice of him either to insult people, but at the end the Hufflepuff decided against it. He realised the other boy might not take it nicely, and he did not want to fight today. Marius preferred to befriend the two girls instead, as it seemed they would make good friends. He looked at them and tried to focus his attention on them instead of the boy,
