As the fire lit the effigy, it appropriately caught and spread, the underpinning having been dry straw specifically for the purpose of getting the heavier wood warm and starting to kindle. Flash would be a bit too distracted, watching the flickering colors and feeling the inviting warmth start to spread after the advent of cooling air from the lack of sun. Before very long, the space nearby would be downright sweltering, but that was a welcome change for the ever-cold boy. The warmth from Willow had been pleasant, even if their pleasantries with Burnett had been a bit chilly.

Flash's attention would be distant, partly dwelling on the interaction moments ago. The fact that Marion still lived, that she could even be thriving, chilled him like frostbite no matter how hot the flames became. When either would try to engage him in any way, he would visibly be in a mental fog, his eyes not making purchase on anything in particular, instead captured by the dancing colors of the fledgling fire.

The inhumanity of Marion's taunting would find a perfect victim in Flash, who suffered in silence for the benefit of others, and feared the repercussions of asking for help. After becoming used to that feeling of pain, humiliation, and hopelessness, he had stopped wasting his energy feeling sorry for himself. Now, it was emptiness and acceptance. When Willow wished quietly for happiness, Flash would make his own selfish wish in his mind-- an escape from the suffering.

His attention was called back when Burnett asked a most peculiar question. His eyes would refocus, and he'd turn to face him with a face of stone. Unlike with Marion, where he felt so drained and afraid that he thought he might faint, he now felt hyper alert. He didn't speak for a moment, the words not making any sense. He would instead be as still as a statue, the only movement being the shadows on his face from the fiery tendrils in front of him.

"Why would you ask me that?" Flash would eventually say, genuinely confounded. He had done everything in his power to make sure no one would know. As far as Burnett knew, Flash never even interacted with Victor. "Someone told--"

What had started as what seemed like a coincidence quickly changed as Flash's mind caught up. Marion had just spoken about Victor too, yet Flash had thought nothing of that. Victor had been trying so desperately to contact her before that day, he assumed something must have reached her. He didn't know what power she had over him, but somehow he had not questioned why she brought him up. The implication hit him like a knife in his heart, but he would not shudder. Instead, his eyes would widen subtlety, and the edge of his mouth would twitch.

"Marion? You talked to Marion?" Flash would continue with confused anger, something bubbling up painfully inside his ribcage. He would quickly look over at Willow, realizing she was here as a witness to this as well, knowing he would need to choose his words carefully. What on earth was this? First she took his his sleep, then his eye, and now she wanted his friends, his home, and his last shreds of dignity? "She..."

At last Flash's hand would raise to his eye. Well, it wasn't really his. It turned out Evelynn was right all along, and he had admonished her for implying it. He should have listened, should have covered it and accepted his cruel fate. Now, she knew the one thing he needed more than anything to be secret, and she was gleefully sharing the news. His fingers graced his eyelid, lost in the despair he was feeling. The emotions were so great that he could do little more but remain quiet and still. Behind the thin veneer, he harbored horrible desires.

Removing his hand, both eyes would look back at Burnett with a hollow expression. "Yes. As far as I know, he's finally gone."

That seemed to work, her eye batting and disgustingly sweet attitude sure got his attention rather quickly. It was easy for her obviously, it was always entertaining to see these men falter to their knees at the sight of her. And it will also soon happen to this boy, the same way it happened to that midget, Tone.

"What a kind heart you have. To take pity on someone such as Tone, is nothing short of courageous"

Well, finally someone said it. It was very humbling for her to have agreed on becoming a date to such boy. Well, of course, originally Pea only agreed to this just to get her revenge, but even so, now that she thinks about it, Hana isn’t the worse candidate she would’ve chosen to go as her date- He is indeed very annoying, and of course, his height might not be up to her standards, but other than that, he’s not horrible looking, and he seems to also came from a pretty wealthy family, so she guessed- he is pretty descent(?)

-BUT obviously Pea still hates him for embarrassing her when he sent her that god-awful pink Howler with that tone-deaf singing. And she will never forget that incident- NEVER EVER- until she makes Hana regret it for the rest of HIS LIFE!!

"Indeed, I suppose you could say familiar" Then the French boy started talking, breaking her angry thoughts about Hana. Alright, she has to look very interested in this boy's words, to make her flirting even more believable.

"I had the pleasure of beating him in the duelling tournament last summer", he continued. Pea looked very impressed at that statement, and smiled genuinely. Oh how much she’d love to see Hana’s face when he loses- she’d love to see that one day. Well, she probably will see it soon if she keeps talking to this charming French lad.

“That is very impressive, although I’m not surprised. You surely look much stronger than that Tone.” Again she bated her eyelashes and gave him a compliment. From her experience, boys sure love that, especially coming from her.

"Ah, forgive my manners, I have not yet introduced myself. My name is Enzo Delcroix. I am most honoured to meet you" Finally, the boy introduced himself. Enzo. Charming name- tch maybe if she was not consumed with vengeance for Tone, she would have easily ran off with Enzo.

“Seemed that I have forgotten as well.” She chuckles softly,

“Pleasure to meet you too, Monsieur Delcroix, My name is Pea Elena Fowl. And I’m guessing you’re from Beauxbatons? Have you enjoyed your time so far at Hogwarts?” She again smiled charmingly while offering to shake his hand.

Hunter's face was already red enough, and he placed his mask back on. He couldn't quite understand what he had just agreed to, or at least not on an emotional level. Love was an enigma that Hunter just couldn't quite understand. A feeling to care and watch for others that he deemed close. Yet, it also gave a feeling of anxiety and an extremely hot feeling to his face when he actually experienced it. Did Hunter love Judith? He himself wasn't quite sure. The feeling of love was too complex and difficult for the young boy to understand.

Perhaps during the date, he had agreed to, he would then have an answer. Still, he wondered why Judith would ask him of all people. Despite the words she said, Hunter couldn't completely agree with them. Hunter trusted almost no one, especially himself. With his confidence gone and having a quivering heart, Hunter could only speak a few words in a mild tone, "Let's... common room..." Hunter wanted to head back to the common room as soon as possible. He was already tired from being around so many people, and tonight was just a rollercoaster of emotions. He turned to begin the short and possibly cute or awkward walk back to the common room with Judith. Till Hunter realized he should be a bit more polite in his actions. Still feeling nervous, he lifted a slightly shaky hand towards Judith; offering a walk back to the Ravenclaw dorms together.

going to find
Eun-ji with Ye-jun

Lucia lost sight of her friends on the dance floor for a moment, and when she managed to find Ye-jun's bright red suit (as he'd said, it did stand out in a crowd) she couldn't find his cousin. Only the Beauxbatons boy navigated through the ballgoers towards Lucia and her chocolate biscuit, which she'd picked up from a table of finger food. "It's okay!" Lucia responded when Ye-jun asked how the food was. "Not as good as yours and Eun-ji's Kimbap, though," she added, referencing the food which the cousins had brought to the potluck table which had been set up in the Great Hall. Hopefully, they'd be able to go back there at some point - Lucia had seen some lovely-looking crêpes she'd love to try.

There were more important things to talk about now, however, so Lucia changed the subject. "Speaking of Eun-ji, where is she? You both disappeared for a moment behind everyone and then I couldn't find her again." Ye-jun explained where the Ravenclaw girl had gone, and Lucia shook her head. "No, we should go find her! I'm not that hungry."

If Ye-jun led the way to where Eun-ji was, Lucia would walk with him. "The effergy looks amazing, doesn't it?" she pointed out in wonder, tilting her head to look up at the massive wooden dragon, which had now been set aflame.

Judith felt rather strange but in a good way. she felt happy and joyful like tiny little tickling bugs had crawled into her body and made her happier. She felt like she had found something good, and she wasn't going to ruin that, or at least, that's what she hoped. She felt happy, altho she wasn't sure, was this love? Was what she and Hunter where having really true love, or was it just mixed feelings? She wasn't really sure, but she knew she likes him, and she cared for him, and to her, that was the most important.

Judith giggled a bit when the only words that came out of hunter's mouth were, common room. She smiled and grabbed the hand he had reached out to her. "You don't have to be nervous with me, altho I am myself, like way nervous, but I'm trying to stay calm, I don't want you to go stressing over me like it's just me. It's just Judith She said and smiled, hoping she could comfort him. she wanted him to feel safe with her, and comfortable, the place where he can be himself, where Hunter could be Hunter. And so they walk out of the Courtyard, towards the Common room, to give an end to their beautiful ball date.

Once upon a time there was a dove and a wolf who settled in the Scottish Highlands. The dove would fly high and fly fast but would not fly too high or too fast, for he had grown attached to the wolf who wandered the land and he wanted to share his time with her. She didn't tether him down, merely bonded him, and began to make him feel loved and secured which was something he sought after when flying high and flying fast. The dove was lucky to have found the wolf.

Simon could never as eloquently put into words his thoughts the way AngelFyre could and maybe for the first time in forever he met someone who frequently left him speechless. The sentiments were there though and he took her hand into his own. She not only knew how to say things but she knew what to say at the the right times.

Most of the students began to get distracted with the shrubs that appeared around them announcing the champions for the tournament. Simon was glad to see that the Hogwarts champion was none other than a fellow Hufflepuff and he smiled when he saw Howard White's appearance and hoped that all would be safe who would participate. He had heard things from competitions past that didn't end so well. That was the past though and he hoped that everyone had learned from any prior mistakes or oversights and now this upcoming tournament would be a safe one.

Then the effigy burned and a calmness fell once again over the Courtyard of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The dove brought his wolf into his care and the two watched as the flames cascaded toward the sky. It wasn't just now the effigy that was burning, but their hopes and their dreams - not to burn them to ash, but as to sort of make them an unspeakable notion now between them and God - at least, that's how Simon Kincaid saw it. It was a beautiful moment.

"Come on, I want to get one last dance in before we close this night," he said, his eyes looking to the flames as they touched the sky. It was growing quite dark now and he knew that his enlarged pupils might give him away (not to AngelFyre, as she already knew) but other students at Hogwarts and cause a stir. This night wasn't about them. It belonged to the wolf and the dove.

"But not here, and not the Great Hall," where the two had first entered. He knew how Hogwarts events could get, both personally and from hearsay. The Rehearsal Room had granted them an incredible dance just hours prior but he would let that one shine on it's own. Instead, he would walk the stone corridors that brought them to the Hufflepuff Common Room and the wolf and the dove would enter as two badgers, ready to share one more moment together before closing out an incredible evening. It really had been a great first night as a new couple and they would end it where they had first began; in front of the fireplace of the Hufflepuff Common Room.

As the announcements faded, so too did the polite applause. Thought turned to the names of those announced, ruminating on their faces as they appeared in the foliage around them. If nothing else, this tournament should prove to be enlightening. Whether Hogwarts would be well represented with their selected champion, however, that was up for debate as far as she was concerned. But.. perhaps he might surprise them all. There was no denying his physical aptitude, at the very least, and as a senior, she had no reason to believe he wouldn't be just as skilled with the wand. (She hadn't the faintest idea of his complete and utter ineptitude in that regard). It was the temper and the values that she questioned. No doubt the Headliner would have a field year...

An abrupt lighting of a shrubbery would soon rob her of that train of thought, however, attention snapping towards the image of a soon charred Durmstrang champion. A silent sentiment of frustration echoed in her mind at the audacity of the action, and reflex spurred her to reach for her wand. Which, naturally, only elicited a second such sentiment as hands had to pull up layers of obnoxious fabric to reach it. Another would prove the quicker.

A flash of white would herald the arrival of one of Ravenclaw's most competent duellists and no surprise would be given at her swift extinguishing of the flames before Evelynn could even bare her thigh. Her skirt would promptly fall back to the cobblestones as she swept her gaze instead in search of the culprit. They would land on an unfamiliar face. Responsibilities as a prefect would tempt her to involve herself in the situation, and she very nearly did. But... as she had told herself on arrival... she was here for fun. Whatever that might look like. Plus, she reasoned, the situation seemed dispelled enough and she had no desire to involve herself with a trouble-making foreigner (given the accent). That was why she'd fled the Great Hall in the first place, after all.

No, instead she would return her attention to her compatriots as Flash rose from his place of rest to approach the effigy. "Oh, look," she prompted, nudging her head in his direction. "I think perhaps Holmwood may be setting the dragon to blaze.." Eyes panned after him, watching him for a moment before she turned a masked smile to the others. "Shall we?"

Whether they followed or not, Evelynn would move in, intent to take in the sight of the great blaze as it took from the spark to eventually consume the collection of hopes and wishes contained within its heart. Tradition and all that. Superficially, at least. More to the point, however, the arrival of another curiosity had peaked her interest. It had been some time since she'd seen much of Burnett at any public events. From the last she'd heard of him from Lestrange, the boy could not be trusted. How telling, then, that he might seek to speak with the only other one present that Evelynn knew to be compromised...

Curiosity may have killed the cat, but she was far from sated and had been spared at every turn thus far at least. Desperately wanting to know more, she would steer herself, Marshal and Ivy to stand inconspicuously nearby, but close enough to hear any normal volume of conversation happening in proximity to their position. "What do you think, Marshal?" she inquired in the hopes of warding off suspicion. She angled her head in his direction, her own gaze fixed towards the growing blaze of the dragon. "Is it all you hoped it might be?"

There was not much to say about the proceedings, as the night meant something different for each student. One could see the mix of warm fire and cool air the perfect equilibrium, while another could see only danger and darkness. Many of the children roaming about sported animal masks, their eyes hidden in the dark shadows cast by the herculean blaze upon the grounds. Now that the flames had crawled their way around to the opposing side, it was beginning to tower threateningly. This was simply way too much fire, somewhere a fire marshal is crying themselves to sleep.

Not much more was happening when it came to violence, as the singular spark of anarchy was overwhelmed by an ocean of pacifism. Someone had said this ball was meant to hold themes of unity, before the inevitable crash of rivalry and school pride replaced it. For some, particularly Durmstrang it seemed, there was no time for peace and unity. The competition was something they were eager to partake in, and harmony was boring.

In the Festival area though, the fires of competition did not reach. The night sky was particularly clear, and the stars in this part of the world were bright and glowing. For some, it may be the first time they stayed up late enough to see this beautiful view. For other, night was already their usual haunt. Speaking of haunt, @Evelynn Decipio attempted to casually sidle up to Flash, Willow, and Burnett's conversation to hear it better. Flash was also a seeker though, with those keen eyes suspicious of everything.

Whether there were others gathering around similarly or not, Flash's eye would snap onto Evenlynn like a hawk catching sight of its prey. He knew when someone was getting too close. Still, as it was Evelynn, he did not see it as a threat. It would be obvious however, that he knew she could hear him.

Pax laughed at Adelaides sarcastic remark, turning their attention away from the fire. "You? Fun? I would have never guessed that you were capable of something like that." Of course, that was sarcastic as well. Most of Pax and Adelaide's conversations seemed to include heavy amounts of it.

"Hm, I've never been the most creative, but attempting to make a mask would definitely be an interesting experience. I doubt I'd loathe it so much that I wouldn't want to continue doing it." Pax stepped away from the flames, closer to the stalls. They weren't against the idea of making something, but it seemed a little, well, bland for their taste. However, they wanted to do something that Adelaide would enjoy. So, how could they make this a little more interesting...aha. A smile emerged on their lips as they offered the suggestion to Adelaide. "What if we designed masks or flower crowns for each other? I promise not make it hideous on purpose." They just thought to add that in case.

Even if Adelaide wasn't convinced by the idea of trying to create something for each other, it seemed like she wanted to move over there, so Pax walked away from the bonfire and headed towards the crafting corner.

For a moment, all was quiet except for the gentle crackling of the flames crawling their way through the effigy. Taking the wishes every one had made and releasing them up into hands of the energies of the universe. Willow could feel Flash gently breathing beside her, she felt the energy of Jack Burnett to the other side. This was a lovely night, for a moment her wish had come true.

Until Jack Burnett mentioned Victor Moore again. The hag had mentioned him too, what was Flash hiding from her? It wasn't a secret that Flash often hid information from her. He suddenly had a new eye color one day. His family was on a need-to-know basis. For all intents of purposes with her brother, she barely knew him. She continued to cling to him, looking up at him with eyes that wanted to be ambivalent but were filled with curiosity and concern.

His response didn't help the growing whirlwind of Willow attempting to piece everything together and coming up blank. Victor sounded familiar, but she didn't really know anything. But apparently someone knew, and that person wasn't Willow. Which did hurt a little bit. She glanced between Jack and Flash trying to get a read on both of their feelings. Apparently Marion had the information that Willow was left out on. "Who's Victor? Who's Marion? Who are you guys even talking about?" Flash looked towards her, was he still trying to see what he needed to say to not have her know? To continue to exist in the dark happily?

She watched as his hand came up to his eye then come back down. Secrets, after secrets, after secrets. When would she be added into the loop? Slowly she unpeeled herself from his side. "Flash, what aren't you telling me?" When would she finally be good enough for Flash to let her in?
