Sophia was so excited at the boy's new challenge. Try each others' potions? That sounded great! Either it would work, and she would have a new - temporary - friend, or it wouldn't work, and it might not matter anyway, depending on the side effects.
Eager to finish the potion and begin the test, Sophia added the four eel eyes and, to her credit, only gagged a little bit. Touching the eyes was absolutely disgusting, only possibly rivaled by Flobberworm Mucus. Sophia shuddered at the thought of Flobberworm Mucus, deciding that, yes, that was far worse than the eyes.
This time, Sophia was careful to recognize the next instructions in the textbook: she increased the heat of the flame to high and, somewhat impatiently, watched for the cauldron to boil. When the telltale bubbles of the potion finally began to signify proper boiling, Sophia carefully counted one exact minute before quickly turning the heat down. She was actually not too terribly far behind the boy, despite his clearly practiced hands at the art of potion making.
Sophia followed the boy's lead, and the instructions from her textbook, and performed two slow counter-clockwise stirs. She vaguely wondered why they had to be slow stirs, but she figured wondering and arguing about it wouldn't do any good. After all, the author of the textbook was the expert, not her.
Satisfied that she was, at last, after over eight hours, on the final step, Sophia readied her uncomfortably long wand and gave it a little twirl in her fingers. Luckily, she managed the trick without dropping her wand. She gave it an eager wave to finish the potion, at last.
Happily noting the green smoke wafting from the potion, she smiled as the boy offered his own sample to her. Filling a vial, she held her sample toward the boy in her own humble offer of friendship. She didn't need his potion to be open to the idea of friendship, but she was perfectly willing to drink it anyway. She'd seen his skills. She wasn't worried.
With her left hand, she grabbed his potion and smile eagerly.
"Bottoms up!" she said with her arms shaking in excitement, holding the potion to her lips. In a quick motion, she upturned the vial and downed the potion in a single gulp, gagging at the taste. Now to see if it worked!

Hunter was hesitant about Sophia due to how excited she was. Hunter's paranoia settled in a bit, and he wondered if the girl had purposefully poisoned or tampered with her potion when he wasn't looking. However, it was that feeling of fear and doubt in others that tempted Hunter to try the potion more. He found it difficult to trust the students at Hogwarts, and he wasn't that familiar with friendship. His mother said he should try and make friends, but the wish of his mother was a lot more difficult than Hunter had first thought.
He decided to weigh out the cons and pros of drinking Sophia's potion and her drinking his. Clearly, there were more pros than cons, such as knowing he successfully brewed a potion that took over 8 hours to brew. Hunter would also get to know what feels like if he had a friend his age was like. The worst possibility to occur is that Sophia's potion was botched, and if Hunter did get sick then he would at least be taken care of by Professor Wickham-Deakin (at least he hoped).
Hunter grabbed Sophia's potion with his right hand, and did a slight 'cheers' motion towards Sophia's comment of "Bottoms up." Hunter slowly drank the potion, still being cautious of the young housemate beside him. The potion didn't have the best of taste or the worst. Hunter was familiar with drinking potions, and many came with a multitude of tastes and smells to them. Some were easier to identify than others, and some were typically impossible to recognize or identify by just taste or smell alone. Hunter set the vial down and expected the worse to come.
"Hunter Argentum, at your service Sophia," he swiftly stated. Already it could be told Hunter was acting differently. Already stating his name as promised, and calling Sophia by her first name rather than 'Ms. Nelson.' What was more questionable, were his actions.
OOC Note: Permission granted to @Sophia Nelson. She has full permission to godmode Hunter's next occurring actions. They can be as friendly as you like, but still within reason.

Sophia swallowed the potion with a grimace. It was disgusting, but she could handle it. She wasn't exactly inexperienced in drinking disgusting potions, being quite used to the taste of Sleeping Draught after all this time. She didn't like the texture of Gregory's Unctuous Unction, but it wasn't as bad as literally anything with disgusting Flobberworm Mucus in it.
She could feel, well, something taking effect in her body. She didn't actually know what to expect from this potion. All she'd known was that it made the drinker believe the giver to be their best friend. But she didn't feel all that different yet. She frowned at the empty vial before looking up at the boy, wondering if maybe he was feeling the effects yet.
"Hunter Argentum, at your service Sophia," Hunter stated.
It had worked! Her potion had worked! Without thinking, she pulled Hunter into a tight hug. They'd done this together! This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, she could feel it!
"I'm so glad I got to work with you, Hunter!" she said loudly as she tightened her hug, "We were, like, the perfect team! We had each others' backs the whole way! It was like, uh, well, we were like Lennon and McCartney, or, or, or chocolate and peanut butter! Or, uh, I don't know what other things just work together, but we were it! It was amazing!"
She squealed as she stood from her seat, pulling Hunter along with her. Holding his hands in her own, she hopped up and down, cheering excitedly. Her legs were bumping into the other chairs in the classroom as she jumped, but she didn't care. She and her best friend had finished brewing a very complicated potion together, and she was on cloud nine!
Halting her little joyful hops, she looked Hunter in the eyes and giggled excitedly before pulling him into yet another hug.
"We did it!" she shouted as her chin rested on his shoulder.
Pulling away, she shot him a cocky grin.
"Same time next week?"
I like the idea of Sophia know knowing that the potion worked on her and just being suddenly overly-huggy and friendly! Like, the potion clearly worked, but she didn't realize it. Anywho, I thought I'd leave room for Hunter to finish out the thread, if he wants!

@Sophia NelsonBeing pulled into a hug was oddly the strangest thing Hunter has probably experienced during his time at Hogwarts. He was used to a lot of feelings, but affection and friendship from people other than his own family were probably the oddest of things to feel. To make it odder, was the feeling of familiarity Hunter felt and even hugging Sophia back. Hunter felt joy from the hug, and it didn't feel odd at all. Had he not thought Sophia was a close friend, he'd probably be frozen and screaming in his head as to what was going on. However, that wasn't the case, instead, he actually enjoyed the hug.
"I agree, this was honestly stupendous," Hunter said in a rather excited tone. 'Stupendous,' a phrase one would never expect Hunter Argentum to ever say. A term he didn't even know what it meant except something good. A chuckle could be heard coming from Hunter, he felt as though he was on a complete sugar rush of good vibes and feelings. Friendship was one of the biggest enigmas for the young Ravenclaw boy, and he was enjoying it for the most part.
His quiet chuckle turned into a normal laugh. Again, something one would rarely see or hear the boy do at all on any day. He was laughing at Sophia's similes of what the two were like, "Like a Flobberworm and a rock," he gleefully said. Perhaps not the best magical simile to have been said, but Hunter was just overrun with stimulants of a new emotion. "Absolutely, although we can make it later in the day if you'd like Sophia. I know you are not a morning person, and let's bring more sweets next time!"
