Louca brought his hand forward, skimming it through the water. He shivered slightly at the chill, his feet having gotten used to it. Or having become number, either way his feet did not feel the chill of the water anymore. It would likely take some time to work his socks back on his feet. His shoes would be rubbing and Louca saw the downfall of his plan in soaking his feet. But it was too late now.
He wiped his hand on his jeans, drying it so the slight wind didn’t catch the moisture on his hands.
He was enjoying his time at Hogwarts, making new friends and having new adventures. Louca nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah! I know it’s a long shot to be chosen as champion but I think I’d definitely be a benefit to the Ilvermorny team.” He grinned happily when Bailey mentioned danger. “That’s half the fun. But I know I’m in the minority. Are you going to watch? I’m assuming you’d be cheering for Hogwarts?”

Louca couldn’t begrudge her for cheering for her own school, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t tease. “Even though, they’ll be missing the key ingredient for success;me.”
Laughing, Louca stopped himself when bailey began speaking. “Yes. Though I’ll avoid sushi if someone brings it.” Louca’s face scrunched up and he shivered in disgust.

“I do think you would make a great assets to the Ivormony team. Do you know what all the teams will do? And I can see how the danger is part of the fun, but still. Danger is danger. And since my dad is a firefighter I have heard lots of story so I am a bit more cautious.
And I will be cheering for everyone. I really hate the stereotype that you can only cheer for your team. I will be rooting for whoever I want! And that really means all of my friends really. How about you? Will you just be cheering for Ivormomy?”
Then Luca laughed as he said that he was Ivormony’s key to success and Bailey had to say “I think team work is the key to success- though you would make a great team player.
As they loved the conversation towards food, Luca mentioned steering clear of sushi. Bailey wondered why, and decided to ask.
“Are you allergic to sushi or something in it? I’ll be honest- I’ve never eaten it. Is it good? Have you tried it?”
While waiting for a response, Bailey splashed her feet in the water. As she stirred up the water, Bailey tried not to splash Luca, knowing that he might consider it rude.

Louca beamed as Bailey answered, and then asked a question to him. He took a moment to think about his answer to the questions she posed as well as thinking of one for her. “I can imagine there will be some kind of maze or scavenger hunt or something like that. Hopefully a flying one, because that would be right up my alley. But otherwise I don’t have any other ideas. What’s a firefighter?” Louca was curious to see what the profession his new friend had mentioned was. Presumably they fought fires, but he was curious as to know why? That seemed a bit of a strange profession when you could just douse it with water. Even the muggles had their hoses.

Louca smiled at Bailey, not surprised by her answer at all. In even his brief knowledge of Bailey, he could definitely see her cheering for everyone. “Of course. Gotta show that school spirit. I might get kicked out if I cheered for anyone else.” Louca chuckled to himself, thinking that that was highly unlikely. He was more likely to get caught and punished for one of his many tricks or adventures rather than cheering for another school.

Doing a half bow, he jokingly said “why thank you, thank you very much.” Louca enjoyed interaction with others and that translated to team work although sometimes if he truly thought he was right, he could be stubborn. But it didn’t happen often.
Making a gross face, Louca said simply. “I just had a bad batch of sushi, and it’s kind of tainted the whole thing for me. Definitely not a good idea to get it from a sketchy looking restaurant. It might be fine otherwise but all I can think of when I look at it now is the reaction I had to it. So never again.”

Luca likes flying… I can see that. He does seem like a person who would. He is rather adventurous Bailey thought. Then he asked what a firefighter was. Bailey smiled, trying not to laugh, and answered. She said “A firefighter… is a muggle who helps people put out fires. They also help people who are hurt. They are the people who go into the burning buildings when there are people inside. They go in to save them- it’s extremely dangerous- and yes I know magic would help but… we don’t share our magic. So…. Yep. They really… are the heroes of the muggle world.”
Luca entertained Bailey for a few more minutes, answering her questions. He was a naturally funny person, and he kept making Bailey laugh.
When she asked he why he didn’t like sushi, he made a face and said that he had a bat batch from a sketchy restaurant and now just had trouble eating it.
Bailey agreed saying “That does make sense… maybe I will have one of the students from Asia teach me. I feel like that would be cool to learn… and I bet there is a way to make it without the raw fish or whatever messed it up for you.”

Louca’s eyes widened, and he could definitely see the appeal of the job. If he hadn’t been born a wizard with magic, he definitely would have liked to have been a fireman. “Oh wow! That’s amazing. They really do seem like heroes! It sounds like a very rewarding and active job. I think I’d like to be a fireman if I was in the muggle world. What about you? What would you like to do?” Louca was earnest in his desire to hear the answer. Not to mention, he knew that the more questions were asked, the more likely the conversation would continue. He was enjoying time with his new friend and was reluctant to tear himself away.

Louca let some doubt creep into his voice. “I think that’s one thing I might be reluctant to try by you. But I guess I can sacrifice if you’d truly like to try making it.” Louca signed dramatically, grinning at the end. It was true, he would likely be very hesitant to try it again, but if Bailey was doing it, he might just do so. After all she didn’t seem the least bit sketchy so presumably it would turn out better than the last attempt. “There must be a food that you don’t like? Or struggle with?”

Luca seemed to admire that her father was a firefighter. Bailey liked when people did, but at the same time they never would understand what she and her family went through; the worry, concern and fear that he might never come home.
Bailey’s mind was brought off of his topic when Luca asked what she would like to be if she was a muggle. Bailey grinned, happy to talk about it.
“I think I would like to be a chef- there are quite a few good culinary s schools, and it is what I am good at and like doing. And… I think I might end up doing that anyways. With the added bonus of magic, I can get even more done and do a wider variety of things and foods.”
When Luca said that he would be winning to try sushi, If it was her that made it. Bailey grinned at him, glad they were getting along so well.
Then he asked if there was anything she struggled with. Baileys grin stayed where it was, for a special reason. She spoke up, saying “Well… kinda? I struggle with some things in the beginning, but I keep doing them till I master them, if that makes sense. How about you? Is there anything you struggle with?”

Louca was trying to make a guess at what Bailey would do if she was a muggle, but admittedly he had just met her and did not really know that many muggle occupations. While his parents and he frequently interacted with the muggle world, they still stayed kind of outside and never really learned about that world, just doing enough to pull off the next con. He grinned as he remembered when he had first met his friend, Jamie, who had been shocked that Louca had not known or tried a skateboard before. That had been a lot of fun.

When Bailey shared that she’d like to be a chef, Louca shook his head slightly, grinning and surprised that he hadn’t come up with that, especially considering they had been talking about baking and cooking earlier. “That would be an excellent goal! And oh, I hadn’t really thought of that. After all, everyone needs to eat. You should open a restaurant! I’m sure you’d have a line out the door.” Louca said enthusiastically, determined to make sure that Bailey had no doubt she would succeed in whatever she chose to do.

“That’s a good attitude to have, after all, pretty sure nobody’s really good at everything the first time they try it. Ummmmm…..I’d have to say the actual studying bit of classes. I can never seem to keep focused on what I’m trying to do when it comes to writing tests or essays. But I end up doing well enough so there’s that.” Louca shrugged. He had always been more active than academic and he had no problem with that. Though occasionally some doubt would creep in but he was confident in what he could do well and his parents had taught him enough skills that he could survive without school if necessary.

His mind jumped to the next topic in mind as he stared out at the lake. “Do you have a pet? Random thought of the day.” Louca chuckled as he asked, knowing that sometimes thoughts would just randomly pop into his mind.

As Luca said that she could be an amazing chef she smiled at him and blushed a little. She was not used to receiving complements, so she was horrible at what to do in those situations.
Maybe… I should open a restaurant! And I can have some help from magic; it will be super successful. I could have one in Diagon Alley, Hogmead and ohh! Maybe in Leeds as well! Having one close to home would be great!
Then Luca asked if she had a pet. Bailey had recently gotten one, and was excited for share. “Actually I do! I recently got a kitten. Her name is Twinkle- she has silver grey fur and blue eyes that match mine! Do you have a pet? What pets do Ivormony allow? I wish Hogwarts allowed us to have dogs, though I could never brings dog from home. They are all farm animals and too rowdy to stay here. Twinkle is quite a good kitten, and is learning very fast. She has even brought me a mouse… I was not too excited about that though.”
Bailey smiled at the memory. It was not her favorite memory, but Twinkle had been so proud of herself.

Louca could tell that his compliment seemed to have hit, as Bailey blushed a bit, smiling. He smiled right on back, happy that he had hopefully brightened her spirits and maybe even made a suggestion that would change her life. Although really, it might not. Especially because they were still young and there was plenty of time for things to change. That was the way of the world after all. Almost everything changed.

Laughing, Louca could tell he stumbled on the right topic as Bailey was so enthusiastic and happy sharing about her kitten. “That’s very cool! Especially with the matching eyes. That seems like a very rare thing.”

Louca’s parents were not very fond of pets and so honestly the thought hadn’t occurred to him that he could have a pet. He wasn’t even sure if his parents would allow it even though now he would be in the same place for long period of time. But depending on the pet it might also draw attention to them and one did their best not to draw attention when running cons. “I don’t have any pets. Too much moving around for that. I haven’t really checked but I’m assuming the normal wizarding pets. That would be interesting. I could imagine it would definitely reduce stress, like many pets to. I can imagine. I mean they’re fine but mice are definitely not fun creatures to have just dropped in your lap or something. Twinkle sounds very adorable and smart!” Louca laughed at the thought of a mouse being dropped in Bailey’s lap, imagining the reaction that it might illicit or at least based on reactions he had seen from other girls. Not that Bailey was necessarily like most other girls but still.

As she blushed, Luca smiled at her and she couldn’t stop from smiling back. His complement really encouraged her, and she held on to the feeling.
Sometimes bailey doubted herself and her abilities, and from now on whenever she though like that, she would remember Luca’s complement and remembers that she could do anything she put her mind to.

As the topic moved onto pets, Luca was remarking on how rare having matching eyes with your pet was, when bailey noticed that his eyes were a very pretty shade of brown.

Just as she was about to say that, he started talking about how he moved around too much to have a pet- Bailey made a mental note to complement his eyes later, and then she laughed. She laughed (well, more like giggled) due to the fact that Luca seemed to be thinking that she had disliked having a mouse dropped on her lap. In all honestly, the mouse had been one that she had released for Twinkle to catch, and Bailey had not touched it.

Moving on, Bailey asked “So where exactly do you live? You’re from the United States, correct?”
Bailey’s uncontrollable curiosity was the reason she asked so many questions, and while sometimes it was helpful she often just annoyed people. Realizing this, she said
“You don’t have to answer if that is too personal- sorry.”
