Spring Races Broom Race Hufflepuff v Slytherin

One. two. Three.
And Claire pushed her broom forward. She was determined, They needed to win.

There couldn't be one thing Claire specifically wanted to do at the time. She wanted to see who had come to support her team, she wanted to look around for her teammates, but this wasn't the time, she had more important things to do.

She had to concentrate. She was aiming a curse...
She felt her curse missing, but she didn't have enough time to feel sad about it. Broom racing wasn't exactly a slow sport; in fact, Claire somewhat felt that it was too fast.

As soon as the start of the race was signaled, jack zoomed forward. He wasn't just about to let that newspaper eater, Grey, get the best of him. The determination to beat him specifically was much greater than his need to actually win the race. Pettiness was his main driving force in life, there wasn't much need for being smart or having common sense. That stuff was for nerds, which Jack was clearly not.

So the race continues. The badgers and snakes are more spread out across the track now, though some remain in bunches after sustaining injuries at some of the obstacles.
The two racers that linger behind the commotion ahead are two Hufflepuffs, the same that had attempted to cause some magical issues early on. They had just passed through the first obstacle when they had decided to aim their wands at the backs of two racers ahead of them, one finding their target while the other missed. Now, they were finding themselves trying to catch up to the pack as another passageway loomed before them.

Both Serena Towers and Claire Spennikins sustain their first bumps and bruises as they pass through to the other side. This obstacle had made itself known as an alarming number of racers were hurt from it, and these girls are no exception.

Moderate Passageway

But just where one had been, another appears. The Hufflepuff racers are met with a second passageway of the same difficulty. Only Claire would continue the unlucky streak of hitting the walls as she tried to maneuver through the small space.

Serena held up the rear as Claire pushed on, catching up with her own teammate, Mr. Jack Warren, as well as a few other racers who had paused at the end of the upcoming obstacle. She and Jack enter through yet another passageway, and the odds are once again not in Claire's favor. Perhaps this time, though a greater force was at play beyond bad luck?
She decides to take her situation and seeks out none other than Vale Ashwood, attempting to assault her opponent with what appears to be... a rock? Yes, a rock flies through the air, aimed at Ashwood!

A crowd of snakes and badgers was now formed at the waterfall as some arrived, some recovered. This obstacle was definitely not for the faint of heart, or those of weak grips either. The first batch of racers that had passed through had seen two Slytherins fall, and this batch that would pass through the rushing waters would see racers from both teams failing to stay afloat.
But even this isn't the end of the action here! Hufflepuff racer Jack Warren, though behind, stays determined to make a move. He aims his wand ahead at Slytherin racer Scarlet Salvatore, hoping to throw her off course with a rather annoying spell.

Now there is time to breathe. A stretch of landscape ahead contains no obstacles, thankfully, giving the two leading racers, both Slytherins, a moment to gather their bearings.

But the open space was short lived. Vale and Scarlet were the first to come across the next obstacle, a bramble of thorns that would draw blood if not passed through properly with caution. Unfortunately, neither make it out without injury to their bodies.

Ms. Ashwood becomes the racer to take the lead. She would be faced with a thicket of trees to welcome her. And welcome they would. Vale sustains even more injuries passing through, knocking into some trees with rather aggressive force at such high speeds.

Hissing slightly under her breath as she tried to navigate her way through a passageway. The sides scraped against her arms and legs and it hurt. But she did her best to suppress the pain, learning from her mistakes the second time as she managed to get through the passageway with a bit more ease. Muttering to herself, she cast the umbrella charm as she noticed the upcoming path. She had no idea if this would work but, she had to give it a go.

The others were definitely getting ahead of her but she could see a few of her opponents not too far ahead. Perhaps she could catch up with them... or make it a hell of a lot harder for them to continue. Knocking them off would be pretty nice - especially given that she was pretty sure one of them was that annoying kid she disliked after the ball. Seemed a bit like him but she could not be sure from the distance.

'Okay, that hurt,' Scarlet thought, a sharp stinging feeling now present over her arms and legs, her clothes slightly torn in places from the mass of thorns she had just flown straught through. She could tell, a while before she saw the crimson blood begin to stain her uniform, that the plant had cut her badly, not that she knew how she could have made it through without a scratch.

Vale, one of the two first years on the team was still maintaining a good position out in front of her, in her head, Scarlet was egging on the first year, telling her that she was doing great and to keep pushing forward, of course there was no point in trying to relay this to her teammate as she didn't want to distract her, and her voice probably wouldn't carry that far.

At least he was in the air again. This fall didn't shake Wyatt at all. He wasn't going to throw the race because he fell off his broom. Now, he was back on, and he was going to win this thing. But maybe he could squint a little to try and see if Vale was okay...

Right now was a case of being down, but not out. Yes, Simon had been knocked from his broom from the waterfall and that left him temporarily incapacitated in this race but not permanently defeated. This was a time where perseverance could pay off and Simon was determined to finish through and do everything he could to help his fellow badgers win.

----Vale was bleeding, and in very much severe pain. But all she did was revel in the pain, getting maybe too much of a thrill from what would be considered a peril situation for herself. She also could've sworn she heard an object whistle by her, missing her by a threshold. But laugh she did, and it was a surprise in itself that the young girl didn't explode out of existence from how excited she was.

"I feel so alive!" The girl screamed out at the top of her lungs, practically dancing on her broom as she raced through.

Percival had got back on his broom with a cold chill of the water going through his spine. He needed to try and get back into this race before the puffs made their moves. Even so, he knew he had to be careful from now on, another mistake like that was going to be disastrous in their houses quest for victory.
