Puffie...Stalker... Solo Pet

That's right, Kim still couldn't get Puffie Stalker out of his head, even though it had been quite some time since he'd last seen him. A sigh escaped his lips as he walked down the streets of Diagon Alley, trying to rid his thoughts of the rude, pretty, delinquent. There was a lot to see around these parts. But it also was a bad place for Kim to come. Because the crowds were thick and convoluted and sometimes people had to squeeze up against strangers to pass by and go about their business. But right now, Kim wasn't thinking about this though. He was more focused on what had just happened during spring break.

As a result, he found himself walking down the street with no particular destination in mind, and eventually ended up outside the Magical Menagerie. Kim looked up at the sign and let his eyes flicker over the words. The first year's expression brightened a little, as he'd always loved animals of all kinds, and he decided to go in and make himself feel better by staring at them. Even if he didn't intend on purchasing one at the moment, it was always nice to be around animals. Kim reached into his pocket and pulled out a small vial filled with liquid and downed the contents within a matter of seconds.

And then, he opened the door to step into the place.

Glancing around, he noticed bunnies and owls near the front of the shop. Most likely, they'd been placed there to attract the attention of wandering students and parents. They were considered by many to be the cutest and most sought after animals for pets. Kim browsed down the aisles, letting his eyes flicker over each animal at a time. Once he'd seen all of them, he turned the corner to make his way into the next section. This one encompassed a variety of toads, rats and ferrets. The ferrets were the cutest to him but he still paid attention to the other two breeds too. He was being fair.

Along the way, Kim paused to crouch down and stare into one of the glass partitions that separated him from one of the ferrets. And then, a set of fish tanks, reptiles and cats met his eyes. Some of the fish were multi-colored which was cool but they didn't have much of a selection. After all, this wasn't a fish store, they just happened to have a few fish looking for homes at the place. The reptiles were cool and Kim wondered how people gave up pets like this, they seemed awesome. But maybe they'd been bred and had never had an owner before. As for the cats, well Kim's body instinctively tried to avoid them. Thankfully, these cats were behind glass partitions and he'd also taken the potion before. Combining these two things together made it impossible for Kim to get affected by them, at least for now.

Therefore, he could simply admire the cats from a short distance away, and not have to worry about nearly dying around them. Spiders and snakes were available in a closed off section, probably to alert customers that these types had a tendency to be dangerous. Well, not really dangerous, but it was good to prepare yourself before seeing them. After all, some people tended to have phobias. Kim admired the spiders inside their glass 'cages' and then moved on to the snakes. He wanted to talk to them but at the same time was mindful of not doing so, because the last thing he needed was for someone to overhear him. So, this time he simply let his eyes flicker over them and moved on to the last part.

It was where the pygmy puffs were kept, a breed of pet that had been created by the Weasley twins. He'd heard and read about them in books but had never really seen one in person before. They were actually kind of cute. Really cute. The pygmy puffs were located near the shopkeeper's desk, probably because it was easier to keep an eye on them the closer they were. And these were the only animals that weren't behind a glass partition. They were inside what appeared to be some kind of playpen. A variety of pink and purple fluffs could be seen milling around inside. Some of them were rolling, others were squeaking and one lone one was doing both at the same time. It was around that time that the pink fluff looked up at him and squeaked, rolling itself over to try and look up at him.

Kim couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat. Why did this one remind him of Felix? He wanted it. But at the same time, he wasn't sure if he should buy one. He hadn't come in to get a pet, he'd only come in to get his mind off Felix and the news he'd gotten from his parents. But now... Kim almost jumped when a voice was heard beside him and looked up to see an elderly woman with white hair standing next to him. She was smiling and smelled like sugar cookies which made Kim's mouth water. The floral dress she was wearing looked nice on her and Kim liked her style. When she spoke, asking him whether he wanted to play with one of the puffs, Kim looked back down at the cute rolling fluffs.

The pink one near him was still squeaking and looking up at him and he couldn't deny that part of him wanted to bring it home. "Is that one always so excited around others?" He asked the woman. Anita Witticker looked down at the puff he was pointing to and shook her head. "Ah, that one. Yes, lately he's been quite vocal and active. It must be because he's the oldest one in the shop. No one's picked him so far because he's so old and they all want a nice young one to last them for a long time. I think he must have picked up on this and is trying very hard now to appeal to customers." She reached into the pen and picked the puffball up and placed it into Kim's arms. Kim couldn't help but gave a rare genuine smile when the pink puff squeaked happily and buried its face into his chest. Now that he'd heard its story, he decided it wouldn't hurt to buy it and take it home with him. He didn't want it to give up on being bought and didn't want it to die without it ever knowing an owner's love for it.

"I'll take him." Kim told the woman and smiled at her. "Quite good. Let me grab something from the back for a moment and I'll come back to carry through with your order." Anita said, giving him a wide smile and nodded to him. She disappeared into the back room and reappeared with a plate of sugar cookies. "Please, have a cookie or two. It's to thank you for picking out our oldest pet in the shop. I didn't think I'd ever see the day when that puff was bought and I think he's grateful to you too. Do you know what you're going to call him?" Anita asked as she carried out the sale. Kim looked down at the puff that was still essentially 'stuck' to his chest and arms. "Fe - I mean... his name will be Puffie." He said with a smile and pet Puffie's head, which made the puff squeak happily and bury its puffy head deeper into his chest. "I'll put in a few pygmy treats as well for your new pet."

Anita told him and Kim nodded, thankful she was so nice.

He quickly grabbed a few cookies and stuffed one into his pocket for later on and put the other into his mouth to munch on it while still keeping hold of Puffie.
