BlossomFest Blossom Ball 2018

Ava hated herself.

Writing about the ball to her sister was the worst thing she could do. Writing about the fact that she needed a dress was even worse than worst. Kate decided that since Ava needs a dress, she might as well give her baby sister the one she has worn when she was 6 years older than Ava. The younger Silver appreciated it, but really?

The dress was way too long for an 11-year-old girl to wear it; Ava was suspecting that even for someone that was seventeen - which was the age Kate has been when she wore the dress Ava was now wearing - this really long, fancy dress, was probably too long. Fun fact about the dress - it ran in Ava's family for any woman to wear it until Ava's mother - Lavender - joined the family and refused to wear it. That was why Ava's grandmother gave it to Kate instead, hoping Kate will pass it on to Ava, Ava to her children, and so on and so on.

The dress was way too long for Ava  - as an 11-year-old girl  - to wear it. I will trip so much... she thought, looking at how big the ballroom was. She walked up to the closest seat she could find and watched people enter the ball from there.

Edric smoothed down the lower part of his dress robes before he entered the ballroom, which wasn't necessary of course as the material was stiff enough to keep form by itself.

This wasn't his first set of dress robes, but the others had been for children. Now he was wearing one for young men and it looked very different from the more or less shapeless ones for kids. It was a modern cut, as the woman at Madam Malkin's had called it, with a close fitting uper body part that split in two halves at his navel and ended at the knees. The cloth was heavier than normal and dark chestnut brown with white and petrel in the collar and cuffs.

Edric liked wearing the colors of his family, even if nobody would notice. It gave him confidence. The dress robes helped as well of course. Without any buttons or fancy embroidery they didn't stand out much among the muggle suits many of the others boys were wearing.

His oldest brother was sitting at a table at the far back, looking bored, and Harry was prancing around the pretty, black-haired Ravenclaw girl again. Edric didn't want to sit with either of them, since he would just end up being babied, but he couldn't see any other Slytherin first years around. All other houses, but no one from his - the fact that everyone was wearing formal wear didn't help in recognizing his fellow housemates.

A little lost he stepped away from the doors and watched the students enter the ballroom. One of the girls coming in instantly drew his eye... well, he mostly saw her dress to be honest, as it was a monster of a gown, pompous and way too big for anyone to wear if you asked Edric. He'd seen her before somewhere, but the dress was too distracting for him to remember her face.

Hopefullyhe would find someone he knew soon.

BlossomFest Blossom Ball 2018
Truly, it was her mother's fault. Siliana wanted Syrah to go to the Blossomfest ball so bad. But she knew her daughter wasn't really into it. So the pair had struck a deal. Syrah had a small weakness, she loved clothes. But, since she was at Hogwarts, she didn't have time to go shopping with her mother. And both Siliana and Syrah agreed that none of her existing dresses were right for this occasion. So, Syrah, having little faith in her mother - clearly a mistake - agreed that if she could find a dress for Syrah on time for the ball, Syrah would attend. But ONLY if Syrah loved the dress. That meant perfect fit, style, length, color, everything. Syrah, at the beginning, was pretty confidant with her side of the bet. Although she wanted a new dress, because duh, she also did not want to attend the ball. She felt like she would need a date, or at least a very good friend, neither of which she had of course. And so she thought if she attended she would just sit there the whole time. But her mother was not giving up. And about a week ago, just when Syrah was accepting her win, a large box showed up in her dorm room.

And it was perfect, to Syrah's both glee and dissapointment. It was a floor length dress, perfect for this kind of event. It had long sleeves, which was amazing because Syrah was always cold and there was never a shawl or sweater that went well with a dress like this. The style was age appropriate, not too sexualized, which annoyed Syrah when girls her age wore stuff like that. Come on, she would always think, we haven't hit puberty yet! Don't pretend like we have! And then the color - Siliana knew Syrah was proud of her House placement, and with this dress she could show her classmates too.

With a sigh, the night of the ball soon came. Syrah dressed with the gown and the white shoes her mother sent. Thankfully her hair was never too hard since it was so short. She simply straightened it and put in a little green headband that her mother had matched to the dress. The headband was also adorned with little lace white flowers, just like the bottom of the dress. Syrah wore no makeup. Her skin was still soft and smooth, like that of a child. She had natural blush and did not see a reason for eye makeup. Maybe in a few years, she would think.

She walked slowly down to the ballroom, and it was already decently crowded when she arrived. She just hoped she could find a seat! Walking in, the large room was beautifully decorated. Her floral lace of her dress matched well with the 'blossom' theme of the dance. Dang, her mother really won this one.

Students from every year were there already. The seventh years, older and fully mature, looked ridiculously amazing, she felt small looking up at that. She didn't dwell too long because it made her feel silly, so she went to the tables where she heard the school would be serving food. Luckily she found a table that was surrounded in mostly first year looking students. She didn't want to be too near the older kids. Thankfully there was still seat open, and, after quickly grabbing a cup of punch (the punch had little flowers floating in it, cute) she sat down sideways in her chair, watching the people walk around and dance.

Feel free to talk to Syrah, approach her or whatever. She probably wont talk to anyone first herself, and I'm her alone the whole time. But I'm also up for discussion/other stuff. If you do mention me, please send me an owl so I dont miss it!

Anyone who knew Amadea would be shocked that she was heading to a ball. Especially a ball full of people she didn't know in dresses that were much fancier than hers. Nevertheless, she made her appearance in the ballroom. It had been decorated quite elaborately, with flowers and colorful decorations everywhere. The room itself was more elaborate than her dress.

She knew that her dress would be quite plain compared to many of the other fabrics worn by her fellow students, but Amadea didn't enjoy all of the extra fabric and dress of the fancy ball gowns. She smoothed down the dark blue fabric of her own dress, looking around at the people who were already in the room. She saw a few familiar faces, though none of her friends.

As she spied some of the ball gowns other girls were wearing, it took all of Amadea's self control to not widen her eyes and gasp out loud. They were so huge and fancy compared to Amadea's own dress that she couldn't help but feel a little self conscious about her choice in dress. Of course, her dress represented her own personal style, comfort always came before fashion. She knew other girls didn't feel the same way. That was just one of the many differences that separated her from the rest of society.

Amadea walked over to a table where some food and other refreshments were. She surveyed the crowd as she picked up a glass of water, carefully taking a sip. She wondered why she had come to the ball in the first place. Dances and crowds were low on the list of Amadea's favorite things. In fact, they ranked fairly high on the list of things that she didn't like. Mainly she had come because she hoped she would find a friend here. No one had asked her to the ball, and she hadn't expected them to. But for some reason, Amadea felt as though she was going to miss out if she didn't go, so here she was.

She remembered her two Ravenclaw friends, Cecily and Adam, mentioning something about going to ball and meeting her there, but she didn't see their friendly faces anywhere. The only person she vaguely recognized was the Slytherin...Syrah was her name? They had met in the Leaky Cauldron when it had first reopened. Amadea debated going over and talking to the girl, however they hadn't had much of a conversation in the Leaky Cauldron and Amadea didn't think the other girl would appreciate if she randomly approached.

Sighing, Amadea stood at the edge of the dance floor, waiting for someone to approach her and waiting for someone she knew to enter the ballroom.

Dorothy half walked, half danced into the ball room. She was feeling very pretty in her new flowered lavender dress.

Her brother, Zach, had sent it by house elf, and she had found the parcel on her bed that morning. The excitement of it all nearly overwhelmed the usually calm little Hufflepuff. She had taken nearly an hour to prepare for the ball. She had spent most of that time in the library, learning a spell that would tint her hair lavender. After a few failed attempts, she had performed the spell and given her platinum hair a very light lavender tinge. The change was barely noticeable, but did show in certain lights. Dora thought it very pretty, and was quite proud of her simple spell. Upon checking the book to see how long it would last, she found that it was a permanent change. A brief panic followed, ending in her jumping into a shower with her clothes on and attempting to wash out the magic.

When she finally accepted that there was nothing that would get the color out, she changed into her dress, arranged her hair in a waterfall braid, put on her (sparkling rose) lip gloss, and slipped on her jeweled, barefoot sandals.

Dorothy often wandered Hogwarts barefoot, mostly because she was always losing her shoes. Countless times she had taken them off somewhere and then forgotten about them. That is why her mother had so thoughtfully gifted her with the sandals. "That way you don't have to take them off to feel the grass on your feet." Mummy had said, frowning a bit.

Dorothy smoothed her dress and glanced around the ballroom. There was her "enemy", Verla, wearing a dress that in Dorothy's opinion was much too sexualized for someone her age. Verla definitely didn't have much of a chest, so Dorothy couldn't understand why she had to show it off with something see-through. She shook her head to banish the frown she felt coming. Positive thoughts D. Positive thoughts. She turned her attention away from Verla and stepped to the side of the room in her shimmery dress. A girl in a massive dress caught her eye, and after taking it in she looked around at the other dresses. Some were HUGE and really fancy, and some were more like her's. She spotted one girl in a very elegant and modest emerald dress Syrah. Dorothy smiled and walked over towards her. She lightly touched the girls' lacy shoulder and cheerfully complimented her attire. "I love your dress! Some of the girls here are dressed waay fancy, but you look really nice." She gave the girl another friendly smile. "My name's Dorothy, what's yours?" Dorothy pressed her lips together after speaking. She was suddenly very conscious of her voice. Dora had always had a very pronounced british accent, stronger than most girls and boys she had met. She shrugged off her silly embarrassment and waited for the girl's response.

OOC. Hey Verla's writer. No hard feelings, I actually love the dress you chose for your character. I'm writing from Dorothy's point of view and she now considers Verla an "Enemy". But she's eleven so don't take it too seriously XD

BlossomFest Blossom Ball 2018
Parcel looked helplessly around the large ballroom as he halted his steps in the entrance. “Why! Why am I heeere!?” Shouting out in his own mind while he tried to work out the situation. This was not what he wanted, this was not anyway near how he liked to spend his days. What in Merlin’s beard was going on!

He had purposefully avoided most of the activities this whole month in an attempt to try and avoid this. This horribleness of frills, food, fun and frivoling was in Parcel’s mind a boy’s worst nightmare. And here he was… a boy, no! a man! Trapped in this nightmarish night of giddy excitement and… and dancing! This was terrible, what if he met a girl here… what if he had to dance… he will surly get cooties! “Oh, has there ever been a man as miserable as me!”

And how did he end up in this horrid situation? One slip up! On lousy letter to his family where he said he didn’t want to go, and then… and then his mother stepped in, the reply was… less then flattering. Thinking about the looming threat of his mother hanging over him almost made him weak in the knees, of fear no less. Imaginary or not, the threat of his mother was nothing his poor 11’year old mind could handle. He might be in Gryffindor, but not even the Head of Gryffindor had enough courage to handle Parcel’s mother. Or well, that’s what Parcel thought, he tried to take some comfort in that.

Frozen still on the doorframe he stood like a majestic sea star. If the sea star was frozen stiff of fear and about to be eaten that is.
He had donned his newly received dress robe. This was a courtesy from his mother of course, it came in the same package as the letter that said that he would spend the next holiday in a broomshed if he didn’t go and show what respectable wizards the Myth’s was. “YOU WITCH! There is nothing respectable about you mother! Nothing!” He had never wished his thoughts could be telepathically transmitted as much as today. He would certainly give his mother an earful! And then some! Yeah… probably.. he would most likely do that.. he would at least tell her how displeased he was. He might just tell his father.

The dress robe would probably be really nice, if Parcel was a year or to older.
This was because the dress robe was to big. He had received something he could use next year to. And when he had complained about it, saying he at least wanted something that fit him properly if he had to go, he was just told that there was no way they would pay the price of a dress robe for someone that would grow out of it in a matter of months.
The robe was all black, including black pants and shiny black dress shoes. He had a white shirt with a pressed collar and a black bowtie. The collar on his dress robe even had a glossy glimmer to it. All in all, it would be a fancy and befitting robe, if it wasn’t for the size. It wasn’t noticeable from far away but if you came closer you would see that the robe went to far down past the knees, and the sleeves were covering to much of his wrist.

Breathing out a final sigh of defeat Parcel decided to join the party. He would probably eat some candy, and some good food, talk to some of the students and maybe even dance, even though he so sneakily dropped the dancing lesson and have no knowledge of how to dance.
All to show himself from his best side. Gosh, but if he died from cooties after, he would surely return as a ghost and haunt his mother until the day she dies. And then she would probably turn into a ghost just to haunt ghost Parcel… and it would be a eternity of ghastly haunting of ghostly proportions.

Walking up to the table of snacks, Parcel found himself some cookies and a glass of juice. He tried to go for the least decorated snack because most of it was just to girly! Where was the normal circles and blobs that snacks usually have! This is all snacks shaped like flowers and stuff, there was even something that looked like fruit with an itty-bitty coat of chocolate on! Yuck! How could a real man live on that, that wasn’t even candy, it was practically healthy.

Keeping his emotions of dread inside he put on an expression of pure serenity as he walked over to a wall and stood in the corner eating on a flower shaped cookie.

We'll all die one day, but all other days we won't

The blonde hadn't exactly been waiting around for the Blossom Ball. While the festival was fun leading up to it, Dymphna was continuing on business as usual for the most part - focusing on her studies and building friendships that she hoped were lasting. The dress she had decided to wear for the event was simple, an off-white gown that she had worn during a ballet performance earlier on in the year. Dancing was something that she had tried to keep up with during breaks from school but it was looking less likely to be a priority as her time at Hogwarts went on. Oh well, the ball would give her a reason to keep her skills from getting too rusty before her summer auditions.

After putting her hair into a tight bun, the Ravenclaw made her way down and followed her fellow students into the ballroom. A small plate of chocolate covered strawberries in hand, she started looking around for an empty table before noticing that the Divination Professor was close by. She had seen her before, around the school but during the festival especially but hadn't officially introduced herself. Now seemed as good a time as any, "Hello, Professor." There wasn't any hurry to get to the dance. Even though she had watched the two Professors seemingly float across the dance floor, she had been too nervous to attempt it herself, especially now in front of everyone. No, she would stick with what she knew - ballet.

Asteria made her way down the stairs, her dark blue lace gown trailing slightly behind her as she went.Asteria moved a strain of her red hair out of her eye once she reached the bottom. "I can't believe I actually changed my mind about coming, what was I thinking." She muttered nervously to herself. "Come to the ball, they said. You'll have fun I promise, yeah right." she continued. Walking into the ballroom Asteria noticed quite a few people had already arrived. The room itself looked beautiful, like spring itself had decorated it. There was  a long table with a bright green table cloth that sat under two huge windows. The smaller tables had pink and purple clothes instead, and in center of the tables were vases with colourful flowers in them and were seated for four people.

Asteria stepped further in and took in all the decorations, the professors must have worked extra hard to get all this done."Where are they?" Asteria wondered as she looked around. A sense of dread coiled up in Asteria's stomach, she did not want to be here by herself. She wondered if Emmett or Wini would show up. 'They're probably still getting ready, I should be patient.' She thought as she walked over to the platter of cookies. She was sure Wini would come, but Emmett was another story, she never knew what the boy was thinking. Asteria did know one thing, if he didn't show up she would never forgive him! Giving a small, nerve releasing sigh, Asteria headed straight toward the nearest table and took a seat.

A ball... half of Ami was skeptical and reluctant- what was this, some kind of fairytale where the princess met the prince? However, her mother had somehow found out about this whole... Ami skipped most of BlossomFest because she's a socially awkward turtle thing, and sent back a Howler demanding she attend this ball, complete with a sharp, navy blazer and a small note that simply said, You're welcome

There's no way I'm spending an hour looking for a picture of her outfit. Use your imagination, if you will.

So it was with a small smile that Ami got dressed for this... this ball, thing, bypassing elegant prom-style dresses she knew other witches would be wearing, because hey, she didn't do dresses. Never. Not even once in a blue moon, and her mom knew better than to try and trick her into a dress. A white turtle-neck tank top, black blazer, black pencil skirt, and her Doc Martens seemed like an okay combination, although her mom would definitely turn pumice at the Doc Martens. Pinning her hair into a bun on top of her head and smoothing down her skirt, she left her dormitory to enter the dreadful world of socializing.

Upon entering the ballroom, Ami glanced around the transformed room briefly before noting that she saw some familiar faces dotted here and there. Touching the base of her throat with an audible gulp, she made a beeline for the food table, picking up a glass of water and downing it all in one go- not very ladylike, but effective at preventing the hiccups, which she now had. Spying another child PARCEL, vaguely familiar, at the table, she waved half-heartedly before hiccuping again, hurriedly turned to refill her glass.

BlossomFest Blossom Ball 2018
Marcia had never been to a ball ... an actual ball with fancy dresses, soothing music and so much of the best food that your hands and stomach could hold. There were occasionally some town fairs where everyone would gather around a grill and eat homemade food while the children such as her were entertained by the elders.

She imagined her mother attending one of those big social gatherings but could hardly see her in a flashing dress, her hair woven into braids and with a stern look while she strolled through the crown of pure-bloods. It was moments like this that Marcia felt as if she had missed something that some of the other students with which she attended Hogwarts had experienced; especially her fellow Slytherin who, so she imagined, grew up with this kind of stuff.

In the end, this was a school, no social must-attend-event where everyone looked at everyone in order to sort them out ... wait no scratch that.

Marcia still hid in one of the girl's lavatory in the dungeons when she heard some flutes begin to play. A sign that the ball was now officially opened. At least the music sounds not as stiff as she had feared. "Come on, girl, it's a festival just like the one you've always attended," she whispered to herself as she pushed the door open.

As she found her way upstairs to the Great Hall she repeated "It's just a festival" over and over again, until she almost believed herself. The scent of their delicious food filled the corridor as she approached the big doors that separated her from the others.

The promise of good food and the light dress that she was allowed to wear were her main reasons to step into the madness that unfolded before her. The summer had caught up with their part of England and the layers of school robes that they had to wear most of the time were a pain. Marcia felt almost as light as a feather in her white floral dress and she had to admit, without her robe the dungeons were rather chilly.

Not the Great Hall, though, in which docents of students and some professors alike enjoyed the music and food which was displayed on various tables. Her eyes went big when she saw some of the dresses her classmates had chosen; big, with glittering stones all over them or covered with shining material. Most of them looked as if they had spent the last five hours of their free day to perfect their hair. This was all she had feard and she felt totally underdressed. She slightly pulled on one strand of hair, which she had left almost uncombed bare the fresh coronal that she had woven in the afternoon. A few hours ago she had thought it would be a good idea to have some flowers in her hair to accompany the floral pattern of her dress, but now she felt childish and silly.

She would have turned on her heels on the spot and would have returned hungry into the dorm if she had not seen one familiar face. Too embarrassed to look anyone into their eyes she found her way past laughing and dancing students and she couldn't help herself but think that they all laughed at her and her simple dress. While she held her eyes low she could see some of the shoes and once again she wondered how anyone could move in those.

Kilian, where are you? She thought her brother would be here too, at least he had told her he would attend the ball, but so far he was nowhere to be seen. She made a mental note to give her brother hell should he not show up.

With a heavy sigh she reached the wall and instantly felt as if she wasn't the centre of everyone attention anymore. She put on an apologetic smile and turned to Edric who wore a simple yet stunning suit. Boys, envy glinted in her eyes as she quickly looked at him from head to toe, they have it easy. "Edric, thank Merlin, I'm so glad to see you. I thought I was on my own here." She pressed her back onto the stone wall and enjoyed the coldness. This was going to be a long evening.
