“Umm… ok, sure,” Uschi said, in response to Lorelai’s comments about the potion master. She’d heard stories of the Potion Master from the 90s, who was by all accounts mean and vicious and used corporal punishment and made students kill animals… and that he even worked with the Dark Lord, during those terrible times. Was this one like that?
“We’ll meet you after you send the owl,” she said to Green, then held her books close and exited the library with Lorelai at her side.
Uschi hadn’t really explored yet. Hogwarts was largely unsigned but she knew the potions room would be somewhere down, next to slytherin. “Umm… so you’ve already had some lessons with the potion master?” she said to Lorelai. “If… if he’s so scary, and strict, do you really think he’ll help us?”
Uschi trudged carefully down the stairs, knees and ankles already aching after the first flight. She had to walk carefully too to prevent her large round stomach from bouncing about beneath her robe – she was already getting enough looks as it was. Thankfully she had her books to clutch to her front which prevented some of the embarrassment, though soon students started overtaking them on the stairs. The ones coming up gave her strange looks, as if she was out of place, or had two heads. By the time they reached the first floor she had slowed considerably, and as they passed another alcove with windows and seats she said to Lorelai, “Do you mind if we… rest here? My knees…” She tried not to gasp. “Maybe we can wait for Green here.”

Lorelai walked around the corridors, she was happy that she knew the way to the potions room because the corridors of the building made her dizzy. She had lost track of how many times she had gotten lost trying to get somewhere. “Professor Valtome is just kind of strict. Really uptight...at least that's the impression I get. Then again, my experience is limited. I’ve been avoiding doing his homework but I should probably just get it over with.”She sighed. She was a pretty good student, but she hadn’t been as active as a student as her mother would have wanted her to be. She kept meaning to really get into her studies but never did. Maybe she would for real this time.
The stairs amount of stairs at Hogwarts had surprised Lorelai at first. Having come from the muggle world, she was used to having elevators for going up or down these kinds of heights. It actually unnerved her, especially at first. She wasn’t too much of a fan of high places. However, she had gotten used to the seemingly endless staircases. Turning to her side she had noticed that Uschi was starting to slow her pace. She listened to the Ravenclaw concerned.
“Sure. I’m sure he’ll take this staircase at some point coming down.”She said. "I'm still up for borrowing some of the billywigs...Just saying..."She knew Uschi was probably too nice for that, but honestly, she'd rather just pickpocket a little bit of what they did, rather than dealing with the professor. But, she didn't want to just do it without the rest of the group's consent, so she kept her hopes down.

Green's letter had been brief, but sappy sweet; a story about a lifelong dream, a love of the candy, and a hopeful first step towards "working for a company just like yours!!!" had been the best Green could do to approximate those irritating newspaper articles about rosy-cheeked youth and how charming their enterprising efforts could be. Green didn't know where adults got the sense that children didn't live in the same world of drudgery and hard but often fruitless work that they did; he had scoured cauldrons and fretted over the results of his father's newest concoction all his life, and it barely seemed Daily Prophet worthy. But people seemed to like that sort of story, so he could at least attempt to give it to them.
Panting as he clopped down the stairs, holding his aching knees as he neared the sound of Uschi and Lorelai's voices, Green swallowed, took a deep breath, straightened his skinny limbs and tried not to tremble. The fact was, those were a lot of stairs, and his muscles were pitiful at best. And he didn't want to be seen that way.
So when he walked up to the girls, it was with an artificially controlled gait, a forced uprightness of posture. "It's little wonder he's strict; the fact is, potions are terribly dangerous," he panted. "But we're not really trying to do anything remarkable, here. We're just trying to temper an already powerful natural effect. It's a rare element which doesn't take to watering down, whether with simple water or flobberworm mucous..." he greeted the two of them with a friendly nod.

Constantine walked down the seemingly never ending corridor, poking his head around various twists and turns in an attempt to gather his bearings. He wouldn't say he was lost, maybe just a little unused to his surroundings. After all, he'd been at Hogwarts for a small amount of time - memorising the layout of the school was an unreasonable thought to have. After pacing the halls, Constantine managed to stumble across a stairway, letting out an inward sigh of relief. He wasn't sure where they would lead, however the Hufflepuff was certain this was a starting point to finding a familiar room or courtyard. Constantine practically leapt down the stairs two at a time, unbothered by the strange looks he was receiving. He never faltered once, save for the few times he narrowly avoided colliding into another student. Despite not tiring, Constantine was definitely bored when descending the sheer amount of steps Hogwarts had to offer. So when he finally reached the floor, he wasted no time in striding away from the staircase as quickly as possible.
Though, as soon as he'd looked about, he hadn't recognised any of the layout. Admittedly, he was lost. The number of students about had thinned considerably, and those that were passing by seemed in no mood to chat. Constantine knew he looked a little disorientated, as evident by the people watching him whilst he walked. Regardless, Constantine was determined to find his way back. Well, that is, if he could find some help. He strayed from students in green robes - he didn't fancy getting snapped at by a Slytherin at this point. A few meters away, he spotted a mix of red and blue among the sea of Slytherin students. This time, he strode purposefully over, putting on his most confident face. There were three of them, perhaps friends - hopefully they'd spare him a few minutes of their time. "Excuse me?" Constantine called out, "I apologise for interrupting. But, could you tell me where we are?" He asked, suddenly noticing that they all looked fairly nervous. Had he caught them doing something they weren't supposed to be? No, that couldn't be it. They had so many books, they might as well have brought the whole library. Constantine guessed it was just a study session.

“Yes, I’m happy to borrow the Billywig stings, if the potion master will let us,” Uschi said, completely oblivious to Lorelai's suggestion. Isn’t that what we’re going to do? “Erm… do you think… if you’ve met him before, would you be happy to speak to him yourself? If… if he knows you he might be more amenable…” Though probably not if you haven’t been doing all your homework, she thought.
When she saw Green descending the stairs she greeted him with a bright smile. It was as if a weight had been lifted from her chest – both her friends were here and she felt safer for it, especially with the way Green had made her feel better after the incident with the old librarian lady. “Welcome back,” she said cheerily, and stood as Green explained the source of the potion master’s sourness. She picked up her books and started walking for the stairs, saying, “What should we ask him, anyway? I mean… how should we approach this? Should one of us say, 'Hi, we’re doing a project and need billywig stings…' do you think that will work?”
Just then a boy approached them.

Uschi looked the boy up and down, hugging her books a little tighter. “Um… Hog..warts?” she offered, in answer to his question, a part of her screaming internally that isn’t what he’s asking. Green arrived, and Lorelai waved to him (despite holding like a trillion books). "Glad you could make it."She smiled, hoping that the letter went okay. Although Green seemed like a smart kid, so she was sure he did a good job. Uschi then asked what they should say to the potions master.
"It might work, but he also may get suspicious. Maybe we should be more specific. Like, we tell him the specific potions we're going to make that may just happen to include billowing stings. We'll just tell him it's for practice because we want to learn more about potions. Teachers love that kind of stuff."She said. She stopped when she noticed a disoriented Hufflepuff approach the group, asking where they are located. She felt pity for him, remembering how lost she had gotten only a few weeks ago, and was going to answer when Uschi did. Lorelai felt both like laughing and facepalming at her answer. Yes, of course, it was Hogwarts. She ended up doing an awkward sheepish laugh.
"We're in the basements, right by the potions classroom."She said, pretending that what just happened never occurred. "Is there somewhere you're trying to get to? We'd be happy to give you instructions." Truth be told she was no expert on the layout of the school, but she felt confident she could give the boy decent instructions. At least she would try her best to be as helpful as possible.

Green blinked at Uschi's oblivious answer to Lorelai's suggestion to steal with something that mixed fondness, pity, and relief; he found her innocence strangely refreshing, and wondered for a moment if it could be replicable, if he could simply put aside all of the activities which put him at risk for being found out, hunted, worse. But the musing lasted only a moment. With guilt stitched beneath every syllable of his name, that was an impossibility for him.
He blinked, returning to the moment. So long as no one looked too closely, he was safe."Good to see you, too, Lorelai," he smiled at her, nodding as he listened to her proposal. He tilted his head. "We could also simply be honest about our cause: learning how to moderate the existing effect of a powerful reagent for the sake of ourselves and a friend. Billywig stings are unusual in that they're fairly harmless as reagents go... and I can't imagine a teacher being upset that we're trying to learn how to make something safer," he shook his head, shrugging.
Green turned his head as he heard the Hufflepuff boy's footsteps approaching, watching him bound down the stairs like a barrel of bears. Athletic. Hmm. He glanced to Uschi, then back at the other boy. "Luckily still in Hogwarts, yes. I hear there are tunnels out that you can take if you start poking about too thoroughly," he hummed. "Yes, I do wonder what you're looking for," he added to Lorelai's comment, curious.

Constantine beamed - he had really lucked out with such a helpful trio of students. It took him a few seconds to realise what the Ravenclaw had said, but he simply laughed in response. "I really set myself up for that one, didn't I?" The Hufflepuff chuckled in amusement, not that he didn't expect a witty remark to come from a Ravenclaw. "Ah, I'm looking to get to the Great Hall. I can usually find it, but today I've wandered a bit too far." Constantine admitted, however his smile didn't falter. As his eyes glazed over the group, he noticed the unnatural amount of books that the students were carrying. "Do you need any help with those?" He gestured to the pile with his head, "I don't have to go anywhere urgently, and you look like you need a little help. He was referring to the fact that they all looked rather shifty, though he blamed it on what they were carrying. Constantine was always the one who chose to help, even if it lead to him being roped into a bigger picture along the way. It wasn't like he minded, however - he did occasionally have a penchant for causing a ruckus.

"Um... no, where just looking for the potions room," Uschi said. "But the main hall is up." She glanced sideways at her friends. Why did she feel like she was doing the wrong thing when all she wanted to do was ask the potions master a few questions? Probably because she was worried he'd snap at them. "Um... you can come with us if you want," she said, figuring that the more of them there was, the less chance there would be the potion master would yell specifically at her. Plus, he seemed nice, and like he wanted to be helpful. And he hadn't made any cruel taunts or looked at her funny yet. It was worthwhile keeping such people around.
Clutching her books to her chest, Uschi then trundled down the hallway, noticing a group of students filing into a doorway on which was hinged a heavy, old wooden door. The students were seniors, she thought - their uniforms were different and they were oh so very tall. None of them looked up at her, but she clutched her books to her chest even tighter, nerves making a tingling sensation in her toes and fingers.
"Is... is that the potion room... d... do you think?" she said over her shoulder.

Lorelai smiled at the boy. "No I think we're handling the books just fine."It was a half-lie, least for Lorelai, whose legs were starting to ache. However, her pride wouldn't let her accept the help of the Hufflepuff. Straightening her posture, she continued."Of course, you can join us. We're trying to get billowing stings. I'm Lorelai by the way. Who may you be?"She asked the boy
Lorelai nodded. "Yup, right here."She said, confidently stepping into the room, squeezing past the students in the doorway. They paid no mind to her and continued their conversation. She immediately felt the mood change when she walked in. Why was is so dark? They could always just add a few more candles or something. Or some kind of light spell, so that it doesn't feel like so tiring. Just because it's in a dungeon doesn't mean it needs to feel like one. She shuttered before entering the room.
"Do you guys see Professor Valtome in here?"She said in a quiet low voice, scanning the room. Students filled not only the doorway, but the inside. Was a class still going on? It was hard to sea anything in the wave of students. She glanced at the wall of potions ingredients. Darn, these goody-two-shoes kids. She could have a jar of billowing stings in the next thirty seconds. She sighed and waited for the rest to enter, observing the older students.
