Something about the heat from the cauldron and combined smells of all of the potions ingredients in the room brought fond memories back to Logan. Summer weekends spent with her grandfather in the old potion room in the basement of his English home. Those times were some of her favorite memories of her early childhood, no matter how much her grandmother argued she should not be spending her time making potions.
Taking a deep breath in, the young Hufflepuff looked around the Potions classroom with a smile on her face as she pulled her long hair up into a bun, not wanting to get anything on it or get it into anything that could ruin the potion. Sitting on the right side of her cauldron was a potions book turned to the page of the potion she was currently attempting to work on, Fatigue Infusion. On the other side sat all the ingredients she would need and any extra equipment. "Two dried Poppyheads...check. Four Woodlice....check. Two sprigs of lavender, one of mint, one of dittany...check." Logan muttered to herself as she checked to make sure she had all of the needed ingredients for the third time. There was no point in starting the potion if she did not have everything there to add.
After her thorough check to make sure everything was there, she began. First adding the two dried Poppyheads to her mortar and crushing them up into a fine powder, making sure there were no large bits before adding the powder into the cauldron. Glancing back over at her book and quickly put on a low flame, no need to burn the potion on the first step. "Anti-clockwise one...anti-clockwise two...anti-clockwise three." The Hufflepuff muttered to herself as she stirred the potion three times anti-clockwise. Her grandfather always say what direction and the number of times she had stirred when stirring a potion to remind herself of what direction to stir and how many times. It was annoying at first, but Logan had learned to find that it did help her to remember what she was supposed to be doing.
Quickly she waved her wand over the cauldron and increase it to high heat. Now she just had to wait fifteen-twenty minutes for it to boil before moving on to the next step. While she waited she pulled the ingredients for the next step closer to her so she had them ready. As the fifteen minute mark passed, Logan pulled the four woodlice our and using her knife, crushed them under the flat of the blade and added them into the cauldron. Again she stirred the potion anti-clockwise twice, using the same method she had used before when stirring. Say what direction to stir in and what number of stirs you are on.
Glancing over at her book again she quickly grabbed her next ingredients. "Two sprigs of lavender, one of mint, one of dittany." She muttered quietly as she checked again to make sure she had not mixed up any of the sprigs and added too many of a different plant. Quietly she added the sprigs into her mortar and crushed them into a fine powered, consistently checking to make sure she did leave any large sprig chunks in the mortar.
Lifting the mortar in one hand, she began to stir the potion clockwise while slowly adding in the powder. "Clockwise one, clockwise two...clockwise four, clockwise five... clockwise nine." When getting to nine and all of the powder was gone she stopped stirring as the directions said to stir no more than ten times. Her grandfather had once showed her the mistakes of stirring a potion too many times. A young Logan had ended up covered in the, luckily, harmless potion. She stopped before ten though, afraid she might accidently add an extra stir in and mess the whole potion up.
Slowly she lowered the heat to medium and stepped back as she now had to wait for the potion to boil for thirty-five minutes. Using the time wisely, she cleaned up anything around the cauldron she no longer needed. Something she had learned from her grandmother, not during potion-making, but during cooking was that it was easier to clean up while you work rather than wait until you are done and have a mess everywhere when something could break or ruin whatever you are doing.
Logan noticed quickly that the thirty-five minutes was up and turned off the heat and began to stir the potion three times clockwise. She was almost done, all that was left was to wave her wand over the cauldron and it was complete. Looking at the now finished cauldron, she furrowed her eyes. She was not completely sure what the potion was supposed to look like when it was completed as her book did not say and she could not remember from when she had last practiced a fatiguing infusion with her grandfather, but she really hoped this was what it was supposed to looked like. Slowly the girl stepped back from the cauldron and closed the book on the left. She hoped she had done everything correctly as even a small mistake in potion making could go horribly wrong.

Like any other day Logan was in the potions classroom, she had her long dark hair pulled into a bun and made sure she was not wearing any jewelry that could potentially fall into a cauldron. The girl was in a good mood that day as she double checked the tightness of her bun, just to make sure it would stay up and not fall in her face while she was working.
Carefully making her way over to one of the cauldrons, she set down a book and a piece of parchment that had the recipe for a potion on it. The weakness potion, something she would probably never use, but could be something useful to know if something were to happen and she would need it for some strange reason. Carefully she glanced down at her parchment as she grabbed it and made her way to get the ingredients for the potion. "One branch devil's snare, four dried poppyheads, one jar honey, two horned slugs, two beetle eyes, and three sprigs of lavender," the Hufflepuff muttered to herself as she made multiple trips as to not drop any of the ingredients and have to clean up a bigger mess.
Logan read over the ingredients carefully again as she looked at everything laid out beside the cauldron and nodded her head once she triple checked to make sure she had everything. She did not want to have to wander over while making her potion to find a missing ingredient that could potentially cause her to ruin the potion. It was one of the things her grandfather always reminded her, make sure you have everything because if you do not once you start, you will not have time to go and get what you need. Logan did not only use that for making potions though, she used it for everything.
The girl finally thought she was ready to start and slowly started reading over each step. First up was to chop the Devil's snare into even cubes before weighing out two ounces of it and adding it into the cauldron. The girl quickly and easily chopped the Devil's snare before adding it to the cauldron, leaving it to boil on medium heat for fifty minutes. She took that time to clean up what she had already used and began to prepare the next ingredient. She slowly ground up two poppyheads into a fine powder and waited until the fifty minutes was up before dropping the heat to low and adding the fine powder into the cauldron.
She then began grinding up two more of the poppyheads, these ones into a coarse powder with each piece being one to two millimeters in diameter. She checked to see if she thought they were too big or not, wanting to make sure none of the pieces were too larger. Carefully she added the coarse poppyheads into the cauldron, making sure not to drop anything on the table around. Now it was one of her least favorite parts, stirring. She had to stir it clockwise three times and counter-clockwise five times. Slowly she counted off each stir as she was told by her grandfather, making sure to say what direction she was going in as to not forget.
Adding the jar of honey was the next step, another thing the Hufflepuff was not looking forward to as honey would stick to anything and made everything sticky if you were to get any on your hands. Making sure to keep the jar over the cauldron and gripped tightly in her hands, she poured the contents of the jar out into the start of the potion, making sure to get as much of the honey out as possible. Even with all her attempts to keep the honey from making a mess, the girl grumbled as she felt the stickiness on her hands as she counted the single clockwise stir before waving her wand over what she had done of the potion. She needed to wait another thirty minutes before adding anything else to the cauldron.
In that time, the girl cleaned up what she had already used, making sure to keep what she still needed separated while also keeping an eye on the time to make sure she did not wait too long. Gently, the girl added in the two horned slugs and the two beetle eyes once the thirty minutes was over, watching to make sure she added the ingredients in the right order. She assumed that adding the beetle eyes first would render the potion useless or cause a bad reaction. Neither one were something she wanted to happen, she wanted to prove that she was capable of making these harder potions. After adding the horned slugs and beetle eyes, it would not be hard to hear her muttering to herself as she stirred the mixture. "One counter-clockwise, two counter-clockwise," she muttered softly but still audibly as she quickly reached over and grabbed the mortar from beside the cauldron. She dropped the last ingredient in to the mortar and crushed it into a fine powder. Giving her three finely crushed lavender sprigs that she added into the cauldron after taking it off the heat. Her muttering began again, "one clockwise, two clockwise," before she waved her wand over the potion and looked at it carefully. Comparing it to the notes that were made on her parchment she scrunched her face up as it looked a little different then she had expected. Her only hope at this point was that the potion was correct and it was the lighting that made the weakness potion look strange.
