Sophia teased Colin again. "Then come enlighten us lowly first years with your expertise, O great one."

"Hah! I'll teach thee some history, Soph!" Colin shoved his things back into his satchel, tucked the two sapling twigs into the end pocket, puffed out his chest and strode forward towards the desk next to her. He bowed, and then took the proffered seat. He pulled out his text book. Again. He got out his notebook and ink. Again. He got out his quills. Again! And with each 'again', he made sure to place everything in the most dramatic way possible, sighing and rolling his eyes with the effort of shifting desks.

"Och! Shifting desks is such tiring, back breaking, brain befuddling work! I'll just sit next to yiz from now on, Sophs!"

Colin opened his text book to some random page, preparing to expound. Sophia's attention was focused on the other girl. He turned to watch what they were doing. What was her name? Thorium? Fortunately, Sophia provided a nickname, Thal as she introduced Colin. Then she started talking about food. Cinnamon rolls and cup cakes. He'd heard about those, and had seen them, but they looked rather suspicious. He crinkled his nose at the mention of cup cakes.

Sophia turned towards Colin with a bright smile on her face, just in time to see him make a face about cup cakes. Colin was startled momentarily. Hmmmm. He gave Sophia a little smirk as he looked over towards 'Thal'. The smirk resolved into a happy grin: "But Sophs! I thought you said her name was Thalamide, right?"

It was just then that Thal seemed to be upset about something. Charms homework? What class did she think this was? Colin sat up straight as the situation dawned on him. She'd brought the wrong homework to the right class!

And then he heard Sophia offer Thal a piece of parchment to copy her own work! Colin gasped! Then he hissed at Sophia: "Sssss! Sophs! NO! Don't do that, that's such a Slythering thing to do ---" He gave Sophia his best kicked puppy expression "--- I thought Ravenclaws were above all that! Now I'm disappointed..."

Suddenly Colin pounded the desk and stood up! "I've got a brilliant plan! Don't do anything, lassies! --- There's still plenty of time!"

And with that, Colin turned and dashed out of the classroom. A faint "owooooo!" could be heard from the hallway.

Thalia nodded at Colin and gave a faint smile as Soph introduced him. He did seem like a sweet boy though. She had heard that Colin thought her name was 'Thalamide' and she laughed a little. "Actually, my name is Thalia" she told him. As She went back to stressing out about the wrong homework Sophia had noticed.

"Wait, is that Charms homework?" Sophia asked with a tilt of the head, "Hold on, I have some spare parchment in my pocket, but it's a bit folded up. You can copy mine, just change the words a bit."

"Really?" Thalia asked with a smile. She had realized quickly that she hadn't responded to Sophia's question earlier either. "Oh, and yes you can call me Thal, that's fine"

She watched as Soph took out her spare parchment. Thalia smiled at Sophia. She was so glad she had met her; she was her hero of the day. Thalia took the piece of parchment and got out her ink and quill. She dumped the tip of the quill into the ink and began to put Sophias words into her own words on the parchment. Some would call this cheating, but Thalia would call it extra work with a little help. It wasn't like it was the first time Thalia had done this. She was very good at making things look like her own.

She heard shifting coming from before when Soph was talking to her about Colin being a cinnamon roll, but she didn't really pay attention to that much. She glanced up to see that Colin indeed had moved to sit next to Sophia.

It started Thalia a little when she heard Colin loudly gasp. He turned to Sophia and hissed "Sssss! Sophs! NO! Don't do that, that's such a Slytherin thing to do, I thought Ravenclaws were above all that! Now I'm disappointed...". Thalia smiled at his dramatics, it was funny and random at the same time.

Once again Thalia was startled by Colin pounding on his desk while standing up. It surprised Thalia but at this point was expected. She had heard he said something about having a brilliant plan and not to do anything. She couldn't really understand or catch everything he had said because he had said it fast then dashed out of the classroom.

She could hear a faint 'owoo' sound coming from the corridors and she laughed a little and turned to Sophia. "Well, that was," She thought for a moment "Interesting to say the least". She shrugged and went back to 'copying' the homework.

She looked back at Soph and smiled, "And thank you for letting me do this".

Sophia blinked as Colin began to get upset at something. What was he going on about?

"Sssss! Sophs! NO! Don't do that, that's such a Slytherin thing to do ---"

What? Was helping someone with their homework really a Slytherin thing? Surely not. She'd helped her muggle friends copy all the time when she was in muggle school, and no one had made her feel bad about it, but looking at Colin's face was so sad. She wanted to pull him into a hug and sob.

"--- I thought Ravenclaws were above all that! Now I'm disappointed..."

Disappointed? Oh no. A sinking pit formed in Sophia's stomach. It was worse than a parent telling her they weren't mad, but only disappointed. Friends weren't supposed to be disappointed in each other, it just didn't make sense. Sophia frowned at Colin, but before she could worry any more, he was standing and running out the door.

"He said he has a plan," she mumbled to Thalia, "But we should probably copy what we can in the meantime, right? In case he doesn't make it back on time?"

Sophia turned her attention back fully to the homework, prepared to answer any questions Thalia might possibly have. The girl was so nice, she didn't deserve to fail because of one little slip-up. Soph had brought the wrong homework to class before. Everyone had, so what was the problem with helping someone out?

"You're welcome," she said with a smile, "but we might wanna hurry before Colin gets-"

Her sentence was interrupted by a familiar set of footsteps in the hallway. They were sprinting footsteps, and it was almost as if the owner was running on all fours, but he was probably just running really fast. It had to be him. It just had to be.

"Oh golly," she cursed under her breath, "It's Colin. We have to hide this!"

She slid her textbook over to cover the copied homework and sat in her most innocent position possible. Surely she could fool him.

She didn't realize the corner of the parchment was still sticking out from under the book.

Colin pounded along the still empty corridor. He felt like a successful hunter or a victorious conqueror! He reached out to grab the door jamb and hurtled himself back into the classroom and skidded to a halt with a jubilant cry! "Owoooooooo! I'mbacki'mbacki'mback! Plenty of time to spare!" And with hair and robes flying in every direction, he skipped up along the rows of desks towards where Sophia and Thalanonamy were sitting. I really need to get that lassie's name straight! he thought as made a last jump and landed next to his desk.

Colin slammed his hand down on the desk triumphantly, and trapped between warm flesh and ancient wood was a piece of parchment. A name was written across the top, along with the assignment.

Thalia Lightwood, History of Magic

Colin climbed up onto the chair and sat on his haunches. He was breathing hard and his eyes were wide an bright. He looked at Sophia and Thalia, giving them a huge toothy smile! "I did it, lassies! My quest was successful! I got your homework assignment, Thallanide! Er! --- Thalia! And you didn't even have to cheat! Brilliant! I told you it would work out, right?" He smiled and bobbed back and forth happily.

He was still breathing hard as he settled down into the chair, picked up the parchment and held out towards Thalia, right in front of Sophia's face.

Colin was still panting, though less now, but he noticed that something was wrong. He lowered his hand, still holding the parchment. "Sophs? What's wrong? Did something happen? I got the right assignment, I'm sure!" Still, Colin felt that both girls seemed tense. He sniffed the air delicately. Something was up! "I travelled over mountains high and forests deep all the way to Gryffindoria and caught some wee lioness there coming out of her den. Ha! Hiding the door behind a portrait! That's brilliant! I'll have to chat with that lady some time! But I showed her my wand, the girl, and asked her if she knew someone named Thaliazide. She nodded. I started to draw my wand out and told her I'd turn her into a newt of she didn't nip up to your dorm and scour the place for your assignment!"

Colin took a couple deep breaths, all excited again about his adventure again. "She was brilliant! Quick as a wink that girl. She gave it to me and I charged back down her as fast as ever I dared! Thankfully it's still early, because for some reason, prefects and teachers don't seem to like it when I'm loping along the corridors! They just don't understand. This is important. I had to do this. You know, for a friend."

He nudged Sophia. "Right? Soph?" Curiosity finally got the better of him and Colin examined each girl's face in every minute detail. Sophia --- was she sweating? Why did they look so tense? Why were their postures so --- artificial? Then he leaned over the desks and looked there. Colin gasped! Something was out of place! The ink bottle had moved slightly, and fresh ink could be seen inside the bottle neck, as if it had been used recently! There was something under Thalia's text book a piece of grubby parchment --- as if someone had tried to conceal an incriminating document away from the King's investigator!

"What's that, then! Under the book? Why do you two look so anxious? Did something happen when I was gone? Sophs?" Colin's face reverted to his injured puppy dog eyes. "Sophs? Tell me what happened? I --- I took up the quest for Thalia's homework and fetched it back. Did --- did you --- you didn't, did you Sophs?"
