─────Spring in Scotland was.... interesting to say the least. Full of gray skies, and and spring rains that left the campus with blooming daffodils and forget-me-nots. So the day was fine, the wind blowing through the trees and sending small flowers spiraling to the ground in a flurry of petals and sweet smelling clover and whatnot.
And on that fine day, supposedly Danaë Corentin-Devereux was in the courtyard under a tree to do homework. Supposedly, her quill had broken. And supposedly, just supposedly, she was concentrating on said homework (definitely not on a pretty laugh, from a pretty girl, with the name of Mei Hagikura.)
And because Charms homework was currently kicking her ass, she should have been focusing on that, a spare quill dangling between her fingers, ink blotting the page. And yet she wasn't. Maybe, just maybe, she was looking up, looking across the courtyard, where the sun gilded a dark-haired girl in golden light, like even the sun was admiring her. Because really, Mei Hagikura had no right to be that pretty (or smart, or really any of what she was, her brain unhelpfully supplied.)
But she wasn't pining, no- not at all, why would anyone think that. Certainly not the way she occasionally pondered what Mei's favorite animal was, or if her hands had calluses, or even what she would describe her eyes as in one word.
So she just leaned against the tree, placed her quill down, and pushed her homework to the side. And if she had a faint smile on her face while gazing off into the distance? Well- no one was there to call her out on it..

Mei woke up one morning. She was in a decent kind of mood. She had recently gone down to Magical Menagerie down in Diagon Alley to get herself a cat. She had named him Cronan and he was laying at the foot of her bed. She slowly got out of bed and got dressed. She put on a white button down shirt with puffy sleeves. She placed a black tank dress over top. She slipped on a pair of heeled boots with lace along the ankle part. She sprayed her hair slightly with water and fluffed it up. She loved her fluffy hair and was glad she had cut it. It was much more easier to contain. She put on a pair of glasses
She picked up her cat and made her way down to the courtyard. She hadn't been down there much and wanted to spend some time with her new furry friend. She made her way outside. It was quite a sunny day. Apparently Cronan enjoyed the sunlight as well and leaped out of her arms. He stretched across the ground. His fur shined in the sun.
She took a seat on the ground next to him and ran her hand along his back. He jumped into her lap and his tail slid under her nose. It tickled and made her laugh. She looked up at the sky. It was very pretty. She looked around. She wasn't alone in the courtyard. There was another girl sitting on the other side against a tree. The girl had long blonde, almost white, hair. She was so pretty. Was she doing homework? But it was pushed to the side. Mei shrugged. She's probably taking a break She looked at Mei. Mei's face turned a dusty pink not realizing she had been staring at the girl. Mei smiled and waved. She hoped the girl didn't notice her staring.

─────Oh. Oh no- absolutely not, this couldn't be happening. She had sworn the courtyard had been relatively full when she got there, small enough to still be quiet, but still- enough people to make it look like she hadn't been gazing at someone.
But that was a problem for future Dany (and apparently so was her homework that she was so loathe to finish). Because right now? Current Danaë was losing her mind. And Mei had smiled at her. A real smile, and then she waved, and this was not good for her sanity.
Great Circe, why did she have to seem so pretty? Now her stomach had butterflies in it, and her cheeks turned a pale pink. So her head dipped forward, hair (hopefully) obscuring her face (and merlin knew it was blurring her vision).
But if she was being honest, wasn't that a bit rude? Great- more social interaction with the sole person she didn't want to interact with. But that was what she supposed she would be dealing with for the foreseeable future; awkward interactions, an excess of blushing?
A dip of her head, a slight smile, ad a small but distinct wave. And that would be enough wouldn't it?

Mei watched as the girl dipped her head forward. Her hair fell in front of her face hiding it a slight bit. Mei looked confused. Maybe the girl was shy? Nervous? Mei shrugged her shoulders slightly and turned back to her cat and rubbed her hand down his back making him sit down. He stood back up and looked at the girl then back at Mei. "Hm?" Mei looked back at the girl. The girl let a slight nod with a small smile. She waved her hand slightly. Maybe she was just shy? That was probably the reason.
Mei looked back at her cat holding him up to face level and looking him in the eyes. "Do you think she's shy? I think she might be nervous. She's pretty though, don't you think?" Mei glanced over at the girl once more. Her homework was still pushed to the side. Did she need help on it or something perhaps? "You think she needs some help Cronan?" Mei nodded to herself and stood up. She dusted off the back of her dress wiping off any dirt or pebbles that might have stuck to it.
She started walking over to the girl and stopped next to her. Mei sat down in front of the girl. "I saw that you had you're homework to the side. Did you need any help?"
