Charlie let Colin sort out the torn book. He held a bit of spellotape between his teeth and he pressed the torn edges together and held it in place against his knee with one hand . With the other, he laid the tape across the tear, and watched in awe as the torn edges sealed. "I love magic! Isn't it grand that even though we don't know the fix-it spell yet, we can always put a bit of tape onto something and watch the magic fix it proper!"

When Quinn expressed an interest in his feather collection, he smiled: "Aye, I love to go walking up in the hill country around here, just exploring, looking at interesting things! I've got raven, eagle, falcon, and of course loads of owl feathers!"

He handed Charlie's book to her. "Right as rain, lass!" She smiled as she looked the book over. She said his name, and some funny word before that. Wickas? Maybe that was Irish for 'wicked'! Then it struck him that it might be Irish for 'thank you' --- they did speak Gaelic more in Ireland than in Scotland. "Oh, you're welcome lass!"

Colin collapsed onto his back dramatically and laughed merrily when Charlie said she'd never been to Scotland. Then he propped himself up on his elbow: "Lassie, dinnae ye ken Hogwarts is in Scotland? But, aye, we're from the middle of the northern Highlands. There's nothing around our clan's lands except huge estates and parks. It's a long walk to the nearest road and a longer walk to any town! I've never even been to the town, but I did see the road once. There was this odd contraption like a wee shed on wheels going along it. I saw a picture like it in a book. Twas an actual motor car! But, aye, if your family ever does come to Scotland for a visit, just look up McCoire House --- Da's the clan chief, we'll give you a proper tour of the place!"

Colin remained propped up as Charlie talked about why she'd come out. As he watched the Sun setting, he sat up and took the fiddle out again and played quietly for the girls.

Colin's tape did wonders for the book! It looked brand new. He told Quinn about the feathers in his case, And how he got the on walks in the hills. "Its amazing on what you can find in nature. Like this one time I found a rat skeleton on a walk with my parents.." She told the too people who where siting in the grass with her.

When Charlie said that she had never been to scotland, By saying this Quinn laughed not too hard but a nice laugh with a smile. Colin on the other hand fell onto his back laughing, In doing so Quinn laughed harder. Once he got control of his laugh he propped himself up on his elbow, And told Charlie how Hogwarts was in fact in scotland. He told Charlie about his home life and how to find him there.

Charlie told them that she was out on the grounds to find some peace, "I came out here because I was bored of the common room." She told Charlie. As Charlie and Quinn told each other why they where out Colin grabbed his fiddle and played. It was amazing like the first time, Quinn closed her eyes and listened to him play. As the day was finishing there was a nice breeze.

Charlie wanted to smack herself, of course Hogwarts was in Scotland. She'd only meant more highland, but of course it didn't come out that way.

"Sorry, o' course," she waved her hands around, "ne'er visited in a t'urism sense. If ye know what I mean."

The fiddle was played peacefully, it felt like a good atmosphere for the three. It was a little silent before Charlie spoke up again,

"I dunno, yer common room seems cold, aintit? Being in de dungeon n' all. I dont blame ye coming out for fresh air."

She pictured it dark and moist from the cobblestone lining the walls, giving it an angsty feel to it. She even imagined metal bars like to Azkaban, but she knew it wouldn't be that extreme.

She began to think of home, and pondered to write a letter to send to her mother. It was getting darker, so she would need to hurry before she has to be inside.

"Do any of ye need to walk to de Owlery? I'm gonna head there 'fore dinner." Charlie sat up and brushed off her robe, "I need to send a letter back home. If you don't want te, no stress. It was a pleasure meeting ye."

Colin listened intently as Quinn told about being bored in the common room (Colin sympathised entirely and nodded his wholehearted agreement), her walk in the woods, and the rat skeleton. "Aren't their bones so delicate and wee? But they really put up a fight!"

Colin smiled when Charlie seemed flustered about the whole Hogwarts in Scotland thing. "No worries, lass," he said. "Er. I was, um, just teasing! --- Mostly!" he said the final word with a giggle.

"I don't mind the cold. But it is kind of dank down there. Mostly it's the other students I don't like. I mean, Quinn's my friend and Donald and Shia seem okay. Them I met on the train. But --- well, a lot of the Slytherins just creep me out. They stare and whisper. Like they --- know something." Colin sighed, slouching a bit. "I've roamed around in the old dungeons down there, and the common room doesn't seem a whole lot nicer to me anyway!"

Colin brightened up immediately when Charlie said she was heading up to the Owlery. "Aye! I'm up for the Owlery! Quinn, what about you? When I get up there, I've got a letter of my own to write and send off --- just give me half a minute before you go?"

And with that Colin leapt up and dashed off towards an old overgrown bit of garden. In the dusky light, he was little more than a deeper shadow among shadows. He crouched and waited for a time, still as any stone, the suddenly leapt forward! He scrabbled about turning this way and that! At last he made a quick jump, landed on his belly with his feet in the air and both arms stretched out! "Ufff!"

A faint cry could be heard: "Gotchyiz, ye wee, sleekit, cowrin, timrous beasties!"

After a few moments, Colin came skipping back down the grass towards the girls. His pockets rustled and and shifted about as he knelt on the grass. "Yummy snacks!" he cried with a smile. "Er! For, um, you know --- the owls?"

Colin blushed in the last of the evening's light as he closed up his fiddle case and stood up, waiting for Charlie and Quinn.

Colin gave a nod of agreement when Quinn said she was bored of the common room. He also told Charlie how he was mostly just teasing her.

When Colin finished telling charlie about the common room, And the other slytherins. Quinn told them "The common room is kinda cold, and dark. The other slytherins all seam like they are always judging you. Now I don't think that they are all like that! I do know that there can be nice slytherins! Like me and Colin!" She paused "I guess what i'm trying to say is that not all are mean but some are, But i'm going to try not to judge to quickly!"

Charlie mentioned going to the owlery Colin said that he was going, "I'll go to, I need to write a letter to my parents before they think a dragon ate me!" She laughed. Colin said that he needed a minute, He went over to an overgrown part of the garden, And hid in the shadows. Before Quinn could find him he lunged at something, He may a said something but Quinn could not make it out.

Soon he came back skipping, And said that what he grabbed was a yummy... Snack? Before I could say something he said it was for the owls. I gave a nod of understatement. He closed his fiddle case and stood up.

I got up off the ground, And brushed my hands off on each other. Now I was just waiting for Charlie, Before we should head off to the owlery.
