James waltzed up the carriage while the Hogwarts express was just pulling out of the station, for some reason this segment of the train appeared to be quieter than most. ‘Finally somewhere to chill out.’ As he passed compartment after compartment the blonde haired boy finally found an empty room, he slid the door open to one side, his suitcase still in hand while he strode in. ‘Ah a window seat too!’ He thought to himself while he placed his suitcase on the floor across from the spot in which he decided to sit. The blonde haired boy was suited and booted, he wore a reasonably casual blazer over a brown jumper and blue skinny jeans (the left knee of which was missing some fabric but that was a fashion choice). In his ears sat a pair of wireless earbuds which played a mixture of music too quiet for any others around to identify.

Steam billowed past the compartment window while James sat down, obscuring the view from outside the carriage. His feet now lifted to rest on his case which was still sat opposite his seat, on each foot he wore brown leather shoes with intricate brogues that stretched across their surfaces. With his hands clasped behind his head, James laid back into the cushioned seat before peacefully closing his eyes. He had a compartment to himself for the journey it seemed, something to enjoy while it lasted.

After a long sleepless night involving Angelita getting anxious about the day ahead, she couldn’t wait to settle down on the train and do some light-reading. Her parents were too busy at work to drop her off at the station so she made a deal with her older brother, Jake, to meet her from the station at Hogwarts. For some reason, seeing the conductors’ smiles gleaming at the hopeful wizards and witches filled Angelita’s heart with warmth and excitement for her future yet to come. The petite girl boarded the train making sure she didn’t miss her footing and fall over, embarrassing herself in front of potential classmates. Because that’s happened before. Once clearing the step, she took a deep breath and simply walked straight ahead. As she wandered down the long rickety corridors, there appeared to be no free compartments as the children screeched with excitement all around her. That was until she finally passed what seemed to be a silent segment with only one blonde haired reasonably well-dressed boy listening to music. She danced around the idea of either subjecting herself to the rowdy youths or joining him and making awkward small talk. She decided on the latter. Carefully opening the compartment door and seeing the boy suddenly looking towards her direction, she exclaimed “Hi, I’m Angelita or Angel for short. You don’t mind if I sit with you, do you?”

As Rhys said goodbye to both parents he'd climbed into the Hogwarts express, he was wearing casual clothing a brown jumper that was slightly frayed at the arms, a blue shirt underneath with the top button undone. His jeans were blue and baggy and his glasses were round and thin framed, they had steamed up as he climbed the steps to the train from the smoke on the platform. He sighs, taking off his glasses, he'd wipe them on his jumper quickly, looking over his shoulder as he did so, not wanting anyone to see him doing this, it would ruin his reputation. He was supposed to be destined for greatness, he couldn't be viewed in this position. He nodded to his brother, not bothered if he was watching before walking further up the corridor of the train. He'd gently place his glasses back onto his face before turning to speak to his brother, placing his arms behind his back as he pressed himself against the side of the corridor in case anyone wanted to be past.

"What house do you wish to be placed in?" He'd ask curiously, his brow arching upwards as his magnified eyes focused intently on his brother.

The pale, slender boy slowly walked behind his brother, hands in pockets. He was already wearing his robes over the top of his black shirt, and skinny black jeans. His face was deadpan as his eyes moved from compartment to compartment, looking for one that housed people that weren't likely to bother him much. He took a hand out of his pocket and ran it through the shoulder length waves that were his hair, before shrugging his shoulders at his brothers question. "Obviously Father's house, Slytherin." He says rather unenthusiastic-ally, he must have answered this question fifty times by now. "Now come on, let's keep going. Everyone in the compartments so far seems rather... loud." he says grimly, his hand sliding back into his pocket as he urged his brother forwards.

Impatiently, he stepped around Rhys and took the lead, his head moving from left to right, often sighing as he saw each compartment. "Think most of them are going to be this lou-" he cut himself off, looking to his right. He peered into compartment 12 with his eyes that resembled two lumps of coal, the skin around them darkened. It seemed that the person already sitting down didn't look too bad to him, and the girl in the doorway wasn't too obnoxious. "Maybe not." He says, stopping in the corridor, waiting for the girl to sit down before doing anything to enter.

The music was good, but still too quiet for anyone but James to hear. His reasonably long blonde hair bobbed up and down as he nodded his head along with the beat. He opened his eyes as something that wasn’t music made its way into his ears, it was a voice. He turned to his right to see a brown haired, green eyed girl stood in the doorway. His eyes widened as his gaze met with hers, immediately he sat up and pulled one of his earbuds out and gestured for her to come in “Yeah sure, take a seat it’s only me in here.” Subconsciously he shuffled over slightly closer to the window in order to make sure there was room for her to sit down.  Thankfully he did manage to catch her name, but before he could give his own, he looked past her to see two dark haired boys stood directly behind the spot in which she was just standing.

“Oh right, you guys can come in too. I guessed the train would be pretty full by now then.” He smiled politely towards the lads, gesturing for them to join both he and Angel. In the compartment. James paused for a moment, taking out his other ear bud and placing the pair inside a small zip-up case before swiftly pocketing it. “I’m James, by the way, James Chapman.” Steam billowed past the window as the train was now speeding out of London. Compartment 12 was now full of new students ready to enjoy their journey, James just hoped that this group would be good company.

Whilst Angelita much preferred to be sat by herself, she also knew that she had to at least try to make friends and the blonde-haired boy didn’t appear to be that awful, rather smart in fact. She thought about the most appropriate place to sit in the compartment. If she sat next to the boy,
she would need to calculate how much space to leave in between them or it’ll just be… well… awkward. The boy shuffled closer to the window indicating he wanted her to sit next him and this is where her brain went absolutely nuts. BECAUSE. If she sat next to him, it might engage them in more conversation than what she would like but it also might mean they become good friends quite quickly. But if she sat opposite him, it would be the perfect distance so that they can have their own personal space but engage in conversation. Wow she was thinking way too much into this . She
decided the latter.

Once he introduced himself as James Chapman, she started wracking her brain for conversation starters. That was before she noticed two boys, she assumed brothers from the way they shared certain facial features, entering the compartment. Angelita would have been lying if she said she was grateful for their presence because now she’s really going to have to think of what to say and this was not something her overly protective parents prepared her for.

“As I said to… James? Right?” She looked towards him with uncertainty. She was not a good listener. The boy nodded timidly. “I’m Angelita, and you are?”

Barney sighed as he heard the acknowledgement of their presence from within the compartment. His hand instinctively went to his hair and the boy made his way inside. He swept his locks from out of his face before returning both hands to his pockets. He strode over towards Angelita, lowering himself down into the seat beside her, leaving space next to himself for his brother. Clearly social interaction wasn't something he was afraid of, any time he may have seemed distant it was by his own choosing.

"Barney Bogtrotter" he said slowly, his eyes moving between James and Angelita. "Half-Blood and soon to be Slytherin" His lip curled at this last part, he seemed somewhat certain that he was going to be in this house.

After a moment of silence he reached into his robes, pulling out his wand. He began to twirl it in his fingers, looking up to his brother with a raised brow. "I'll let my brother introduce himself, but I doubt he'll make Slytherin, he's a Hufflepuff through and through." Again, the smirk appears on his lips, clearly messing with his twin. Finally he turns to the pair  "So... We have Angelita, and James? I think you'd both look good with your robes lined with green."

Rhys followed his Brother into the compartment glaring at him the whole time. "You watch me make Ravenclaw as i follow in the footsteps of one of the greatest wizard of our time Gilderoy Lockhart"

Rhys would take the seat opposite Barney sitting next to the person he believe to be called James. "Oh yeah all most forgot I'm Rhys Bogtrotter Older brother to him opposite me"  Rhys would then turn to the other two in the compartment studying each of them for a few seconds. "It is a pleasure to find a compartment with people that aren't loud,  and it is even more of a pleasure to meet you both!" Rhys would then push his glass back up his nose as they have a tendency to slip down, after pushing up his glasses he'd pull out a copy of the daily prophet from inside his jumper and would start to read it not really paying attention to the others around him. He face would of confusion as he reads a very peculiar headline. ""These headlines are incredibly inventive" he'd say with a tone that conveyed a large amount of sarcasm while shaking his head. "Shopping Troll-ey, apparently one of the mountain villages in Scotland has been visited by a Troll, tore through a rather small emporium."

The blonde haired lad relaxed into his chair as the others made their way from the corridor into the now quite full compartment. Unfortunately for him it seemed that the girl wasn’t wholly interested in sitting next to him, something that James wasn’t quite used to. His eyes followed her as she motioned to sit opposite him but he took his gaze away as the two other boys stepped forwards.

The first of the pair to walk into the compartment sat next to Angelita, he introduced himself as Barney. Now that was two out of two people who didn’t volunteer to come and sit in the space next to him. ’Do I smell or something.’ He pondered quietly in his mind. ’Impossible, these clothes are freshly cleaned.’ Thankfully, however, the final boy to enter the compartment placed himself on the seat next to James. He breathed a sigh of relief, it didn’t seem as though he was too repulsive for his fellow passengers. The boy, seemingly a twin of Barney, introduced himself as Rhys. James grinned, it was nice to know their names, and in a way, he felt more comfortable with traveling in a group that was so quick to introduce themselves.

Soon the topic of conversation moved onto houses. Something that James wasn’t particularly invested in, from his point of view he would be put wherever he needed to be. “Maybe a bit of blue or yellow would fit me best.” He yawned for a second before placing both hands back behind his head and folding his right leg over the left. “What do you guys think though, what houses do you think you’ll be in?”

Carefully observing how the boys introduced themselves, she decided that she could associate herself with James and Rhys… but Barney? Not so much. However, her older brother’s voice rang in her head telling her to at least give him a chance, because after all, her brother was a Slytherin and he wasn’t the worst. Sending a rather piercing glare to Barney, she insisted “My robes will be lined red, or yellow… or blue for that matter. Any house that doesn’t have that ghastly snake representing them.”After making her statement, she looked towards Rhys (arguably the nicer brother) and wondered how the pair were so different. Even in the extremely short time they’ve known each other she knew that Rhys is someone to easily make friends and well, Barney wasn’t the favourite.

Getting lost in her thoughts, she almost didn’t hear James speak. What house would she be in? She liked the idea of being in Gryffindor a lot in hopes to become as successful and renowned as Harry Potter. Plus, she liked what they stood for. However, she wouldn’t be too disheartened if she was placed in Ravenclaw because intelligence was something very important to her. To answer James’ question, she replied “Ah! Anything but green” She sent a cruel smirk towards Barney before carrying on. “Most definitely Gryffindor but I think I’ll look good in blue too” Deep down, she was thankful most of them had pure and kind hearts and Barney… was… interesting.
